Todd Bowles Promises Self-Evaluation
January 6th, 2026Joe already touched on not understanding Bucs coach Todd Bowles’ critics when they claim he does not hold himself accountable.
Joe reads and hears this all the time, yet almost every time Bowles stands behind a microphone, he does take responsibility.
It reminds Joe of one of the sayings from the late, great dean of Tampa Bay sports radio, “The Big Dog,” Steve Duemig. He often said, “People hear what they want to hear.” Joe guesses that why folks claim Bowles never accepts responsibility.
Yesterday in his season wrapup, Bowles promised one way he’s going to try to find out what went wrong this past season and how to correct it is through self-evaluation.
Bowles described what that entails.
“It takes a while,” Bowles said. “It’s not a day [long] process. It’s not a daily process. It’s going to take a couple of weeks to unravel everything.
“It starts with me – once I get that together and go through things I can do better, and I can do better for the team and I can lead better. Then you check with the coaches and you try to figure out what we can do better as a staff and then we try to figure out what we can do better as players and put them in better positions and what we need and what we need to build on.
“It’ll be an ongoing process.”
Bowles said this self-evaluation isn’t just about film study.
“It’s a little bit of everything, from scheduling to evaluating yourself,” Bowles said. “It’s not necessarily film. Film is a part of it once you get to it, but you don’t start film the day after and start breaking everything down.
“You start breaking down decisions and things you want to do better, things you think you could do better and things that can help and go forward and see what type of team we have, what type of team we want.
“Are we coaching it the right way? Are they playing it the right way? It’s an ongoing evaluation process. It’s going to take weeks.”
Do any of these sound as if Bowles is not accepting responsibility for the Bucs missing the playoffs for the first time since 2019?
Look, there are a lot of reasons to be upset with Bowles for how this season turned out. Joe certainly has grievances and been very loud and open about them.
But to suggest Bowles doesn’t accept responsibility for the bad things that happened with the Bucs, Joe doesn’t see any evidence of this accusation or narrative.

Todd Bowles Promises Self-Evaluation
I was going to be sarcastic here with some name calling, but it’s a New Year, so I will refrain from that…….however, I will ask the question that I want here.
Why didn’t Todd Bowles do this in season?
He knew his defense was ineffective, yet he continued to do the same thing over and over …. expecting a different result, which there was none!!!
Fire this guy, fire him now!!!!
The Bucs need new Blood!!!
And I would take Jonathon Gannon as the new DC in a heartbeat!!! I really would and then go from there!
January 6th, 2026 at 7:11 am
No matter how much he talks change, we have evidence of his core values and what he reverts to in the final game of the season. We have a large enough sample size. It’s not working. How can we get Todd Bowles shoved down our throats again next year? Does anyone actually believe Bowles is going to take this team on a playoff run?
January 6th, 2026 at 7:15 am
No Bowzo you do not get to evaluate yourself..we do.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:16 am
Perhaps his greatest failure this year was his unwillingness to fire the defensive play caller!
January 6th, 2026 at 7:17 am
Here’s some self reflection: Why do fans not believe in me after 3 straight division titles?
January 6th, 2026 at 7:20 am
He needs to evaluate why players seem to lack motivation or quit mid-game. If he can no longer motivate professional athletes, then he needs to retire. The same thing happened to Gruden. The message no longer carries any weight!
January 6th, 2026 at 7:21 am
Like Bruce Arians would say “No risk it, no biscuit.” Current team looks a lot like the “dink and dunk” Bucs of the past. I’ve heard Bowels say we have to coach it better too many times. We have a conservative defensive coach, OC with no exprience, and too many injuries this season.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:26 am
Let’s start by trying to figure out why so many injuries???, maybe we can start with a new strength and conditioning program, it wouldn’t hurt….Lets Go Bucs!
January 6th, 2026 at 7:27 am
3rd and 28……..never forget
January 6th, 2026 at 7:33 am
Joe
Thanks for a reasonable measured take. I’ve only glanced at this place the past few days knowing the sea of negativity would be nauseating. Not that Todd has done a great job but the hyperbole in the negativity is what disturbs me. And the first comment shows what Bowles is up against.
“Why didn’t Todd Bowles do this in season?”
Seriously? It’s called a post season review so that an organization can step back from the heat of the battle “the season” and review things more objectively without the distractions of “the season”. IE No game planning!!! Minimal Media distractions. TIME!
I think Joe has given an honest evaluation. I was totally disappointed in the effort of the games leading up to that final contest. Even in the final game where effort picked up it looked like a wild fire drill in the defensive backfield. Blown assignments and guys too often looking confused and out of place. That is unacceptable.
Having said that given the injuries, including the spell when Baker was clearly playing hurt, there are legitimate extenuating circumstances.
I think as fans we’ve become spoiled and unreal in our assessment of talent.
Since the SB there has been a major overhaul. Some of the post season evaluation will also be done by Jason as well as Todd. Clearly one mistake was predicted by Joe. The team still has a sorry pass rush…close at times but never the cigar. Hassan Reddick stole millions of dollars. FA’s didn’t work…high draft picks like Kancey and Braswell have failed to contribute.
There IS a lot to correct. But the team now has the best receiver package in the NFL, the potential for a truly stud OL, and a QB that can win with the right guys.
I honestly do not know what to say about the D. It sucks. The talent is not deep. Kancey, Reddick, and Braswell are no shows along with some others.
SVD is servicable is not a star but can play, LVD can still play but he’s close if not at the end. No linebackers! A young inexperienced backfield aside from Winfield and Dean (when he shows up).
I’m 50-50 on making the change. I’ll leave that up to smarter heads than mine.
But regardless of who coaches this team next year the D is in desperate need of talent!!! No LB’s and a missing defensive lineman in Kancey. Do the Bucs even count on him next year. Like Dean, Kancey is a player..WHEN he actually plays!
January 6th, 2026 at 7:35 am
He and arians have certainly done a better job of developing young players than the previous coaches, which makes Licht look better. I just cannot envision Todd winning a superbowl as head coach.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:36 am
I believe it’s the Glazers that evaluate Todd. What is their organizational org? Yes, maybe he does a self-evaluation on his performance, but who gives the final feedback and signs it? Who is over who now? So confusing.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:36 am
TBBF self evaluates and found that he is as great as he’s always been.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:36 am
Never forget Bowles calling “cover 0” blitz against Rams leaving Cooper Kupp wide open, and ending our playoff run, and Brady’s last chance of a repeat…..
January 6th, 2026 at 7:40 am
I like coach Bowles, he seems like a solid person a good man, I wish he would have hired a dc and new special teams coach, let’s all remember not to kick a man when he’s down, coach Bowles deserves to be treated like a friend and team mate. Let’s pull together Bucs fans we got this
January 6th, 2026 at 7:41 am
We’re gonna need a bigger mirror
January 6th, 2026 at 7:41 am
3rd and 28 is a lot easier to forget compared to 28 to 3 for Falcons fans lol
January 6th, 2026 at 7:42 am
He has to give up calling the defense.
Trying delegating, let your coordinators
coordinate. bring in Matt Patricia someone.
The Browns are going to keep Swartz. Todd needs solid play callers
In all phases.🤙🏾
January 6th, 2026 at 7:43 am
What went wrong was this inept coach and his staff.
I don’t want players talking about “ he’s my guy “. They aren’t frat brothers.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:43 am
This F-ing loser.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:46 am
Talk is cheap.
He promised a full evaluation last year.
On the defensive side of the ball, I didn’t see a lot of change from the previous year.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:47 am
He will be a lame duck coach next season so good luck getting any top asst coaches.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:48 am
Too many blitzes. Cost us a few games. I know Bowles likes to blitz but he rolled the dice at the wrong times. We need a better pass rush and we need a Simeon Rice type of edge rusher. We have to get Maxx Crosby or Trey Hendricks. We got the salary cap money this year, even after spending money on Mayfield, Evans, etc…
January 6th, 2026 at 7:49 am
Josh Grizzard reminds me of 2001 Clyde Christensen. A pop gun high school offense that is way too predictable. We need someone that can call aggressive plays and take advantage of what we have. Jay Gruden is out there. Go get him.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:53 am
Go listen to this dudes presser after the loss to the Commanders last season. It’s practically the same thing slightly worded differently. “Gotta coach it better, play it better”, “it will take a few weeks to evaluate”, “we have to look at everything”. Dude literally has no answers, it’s why he opted to give the opponents the ball at the 35 every f’ing time when your teams players start at the 40.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:53 am
Add the “self evaluation” to the list of weekly coach speak we constantly hear. He’s cooked and so is his defensive schemes.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:55 am
So, you’re saying there is still a chance he gets fired?
January 6th, 2026 at 7:56 am
The Yakuza would require him to cut off a pinky!
January 6th, 2026 at 7:58 am
Strongly disagree, Joe.
Anyone can say the words “my bad”, you have to mean it.
Actions speak louder than words.
And if you are taking responsibility, you don’t keep saying that the players screwed up.
January 6th, 2026 at 7:58 am
Start with relinquishing your duties of being the dc/hc. That will be a great start Mr Bowles. Just focus on being the HEAD HONCHO if you can!
January 6th, 2026 at 8:00 am
Oh and jettison your st coach on outta here while you’re at it!
January 6th, 2026 at 8:03 am
It’s all words and no real action, no real changes. He’s already proven he’s too stubborn to develop a decent pass rush, so if he continues to coach next season, defense will be ass again and with next season schedule, we’re talking about finishing 4-13 maybe. Then Toilet Bowles will be gone for good. Just another lost year.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:05 am
Self evaluation is only part of it. It’s what any great leader does after any meaningful event. This should’ve been a daily occurrence, after each practice and game. Another added layer, there should be a 360 feedback at least quarterly throughout the season. 360 feedback meaning, everyone involved is in the room and it’s anyone floor to discuss deficiencies, call out performance or decision making etc… the problem with 360 feedbacks are people these days can’t handle someone else telling them they are the problem.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:06 am
Welp… se you guys at the draft.
Maybe I can drop in for a big free agency signing… 2026 awaits me!
January 6th, 2026 at 8:06 am
Why did Joe feel a need to write this post?
January 6th, 2026 at 8:07 am
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT BOWELS CANNOT GET IT DONE.
The guy’s record tells you exactly who he is. There is no reason to expect anything different if he is brought back.
The only variable is that the division opponents are improving – a last place finish in 2026 is possible, if not probable.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:08 am
Lefty, my exact thoughts as I was reading the article.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:10 am
Empty words. It looks like we’ll have to suffer through another season of mediocrity.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:14 am
“It takes a while,” Bowles said. “It’s not a day [long] process. It’s not a daily process. It’s going to take a couple of weeks to unravel everything.”
It doesn’t take that long to see the problems with Bowles and this team. You dont need a day either. Many of us here have already diagnosed the team 2 Seasons ago and the same problems persist.
Herein lies the big problem with Bowles. He’s so slow to react and adjust that it takes him weeks to fix things the best coaches could do mid-game or mid-season.
He’s too slow to adjust if he ever adjusts at all. Plus hes too buddy buddy with the players and coaches that there’s no competition for a spot and no sense of urgency.
If Bowles stays, the Bucs are tanking.

Todd Bowles Promises Self-Evaluation
—-
And if you actually think that will make any difference in the product he puts on the field you are likely an idiot.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:18 am
This ugly hangover,Bowels, is taking ALL the fun out of upcoming draft talk!
January 6th, 2026 at 8:19 am
Self evaluation
GIGO
January 6th, 2026 at 8:21 am
I have worked with people that create a story line to justify their failure every year, season, quarter, month – whatever. They never change really but they do get really good at coming up with that story whenever they need one. You know how you can tell though? The numbers never, ever lie. Never.
Todd Bowles winning percentage is 45.5%. This year it was 47%. The winning percentage of the division over the timeframe Todd Bowles has been head coach is 38.7% – hardly competitive.
Compare that to Sean Payton. His career winning percentage is 62.6% (over 19 years). 63% with the Saints and left and took a 5-12 Broncos team to 60.6% and trending upward.
For those of you yelling for Gruden (not gonna happen). His winning percentage is 51%. Dungy’s career percentage is 66.8%. 75% with the Colts when he had the benefit of one of the best Quarterbacks of all time.
The numbers NEVER LIE.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:25 am
The all out jbf blitz to cleanse Bowles has begun.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:25 am
If he does not get fired, it’s absolute b*******. It’s 110% of financial decision, meaning the owners couldn’t care less about winning. The collapse in the second half of the season is unacceptable. And I hate to say it, but his three division titles mean nothing. He played in the absolute worst division in football and couldn’t win any playoff games, which means nothing.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:26 am
The other way you can tell is there is always an excuse. The sun was in my eyes or whatever. You think Sean Payton never had a season with a higher than average number of injuries? Coaches like Payton always manage to get more out of nothing and guys like Bowles always get less out of something.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:26 am

January 6th, 2026 at 8:28 am
Todd Bowles is delusional and he has shown zero ability to be self reflective about his coaching inadequacies his entire coaching career. He loves to take credit for the good stuff, but I have never once heard him take the blame when he is the problem. He has allowed Baker to go in front of the podium and take the blame for losses all season that are NOT his fault, and that in itself is a big reason why Todd Bowles is no longer worthy of coaching this football team, because Todd refuses to go in from of the podium and take the blame. . Jason Licht is actually more responsible for the real problems this team has because he ignored the positions of need and it killed us this season, along with unimaginative play calling. But Todd has never and will never own his mistakes. I believe Bowles and Licht have worn out their welcome. Change is necessary.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:30 am
This team quit during the bye or just after it, find the reason for that and you found Waldo. Don’t claim to be an expert but not blind either. It will be interesting to see what other players leave this team shortly. I’m sure the Glazers are going through the process we just haven’t been informed yet as they are never open about what they do ‘in process’, only after it’s done. Not a fan of a knee jerk reaction {see dixie chicks}, but doesn’t mean Blank hasn’t been working behind the scenes either. I think this team needs to get younger from the front office on down, maybe Licht as well, that I’m not sure. This team needs young hungry players that play hard, that is the “culture” we missed this year. And the training staff does need some serious looking at, not for some of the in season injuries but the prep doesn’t look good for prevention of soft tissue injuries. They need a self evaluation all right but the owners are the ones who need to do it. If the Glazers are happy with this then I am happy do other things with my time and money on Sundays. If this makes me a bad fan then I guess I am. Only seen this sheet show since the begining before so many “fans” moved here.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:30 am
Well for my part, I plan on doing things differently in 2026.
I’m going to read these articles better.
Make comments better.
Watch the games better.
Buy apparel better.
Fly down to Tampa annually for games better.
Expect a long-sustained losing streak better.
Do Bucs mock drafts before the playoffs start better.
Would that be better, Joe?
January 6th, 2026 at 8:31 am
Only if the Glazer’s evaluate him first and say he’s good enough to keep.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:31 am
You have to be kidding right? It’s not April 1 yet! I remember Todd saying during last years off season that he had found a new defensive wrinkle that he would be implementing this year or words to that effect. Did anyone see that? Defense regressed. Couch coaches all over Tampa Bay could dissect each loss within minutes of the games ending. Now he is going to start with a self evaluation and work through his system to see what may be needed to be done? Hear nearly the exact same drivel every year. We know the problem. A dinosaur HC that refuses to change. He has to go. His second chances have run out.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:33 am
I just read some where too may walk throughs after the bye week. that’s why our execution was poor. That makes a lot of sense. I don’t want to hear about injuries, that’s part of the game. Have these guys pad ready. It would be interesting too see Denver, Texans, Seahawks practice schedule. Come on evaluate this please Coach🤙🏾
January 6th, 2026 at 8:34 am
There is not a Bucs fan that can’t tell Todd Bowles what is wrong with this team. So why the hell is Todd still saying be doesn’t know what is wrong. For the millionth time, we can’t tackle anyone, pressure anyone, cover anyone, and we can’t protect our QB We only had about 30 sacks all season and our crap secondary is bottom 3 in the league. We made every QB we played this season look like Joe Montana because we can’t pressure them and they pick us apart. Unimaginative play calling ruined Baker’s passing game, and killed our offense. Do you need more Todd?
January 6th, 2026 at 8:37 am
Still wondering whT that off-season epiphany was that was supposed to elevate the Defense lol
January 6th, 2026 at 8:37 am
So keeping Todd, let’s just pencil in 9-8 at best for next year.
Yay LFG!!!!!!!!!
Lol
January 6th, 2026 at 8:38 am
What a crock. Next year, he’ll be evaluating a 6-11 season. Definition of insanity, keep doing same thing over and over but expecting different results.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:38 am
Guess we wont be luke the Jags or Bears next year. Amazing what a young offensive mind can do in a year for team
January 6th, 2026 at 8:40 am
Idc if Todd says what he should at times or not.
Our DC/HC sucks and not addressing such us total bs
January 6th, 2026 at 8:40 am
Chucky, he’s been self evaluating for a couple of years now. And he will chew your arse for mistakes. He like Arians 3.0, Chucky gets hotter, still at idk 60 years old now, he was 38 winning that Superbowl. He’s got all of his passion for the game. Bowles and his see you Wednesday crap and walk thru practices let the team get to relaxed.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:41 am
Todd measures success in division titles. The fans measure success in playoff wins. Todd is 1-3 in the playoffs and didn’t even make it there this year. The reason Todd is a terrible coach is his complacency.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:42 am
Quote of the day by Thomas Alva Edison: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

There is not a Bucs fan who can’t tell you what is wrong with this team Todd, so why are you still claiming not to know what the problem is? Do you need more Todd?
January 6th, 2026 at 8:44 am
Nick jannette – In agreement. Yes, in keeping Todd, maybe hire a Defense Coordinator, one that is proven and strong.
Also, believe that Grizz needs an evaluation too. I don’t think he passed the probationary period if there is one.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:46 am
A leopard can’t change his spots.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:50 am
Good coaches make game adjustments on the fly. They don’t study things endlessly after the fact. Todd B. is not a good coach. “Have to look at the tape” and all that doesn’t work when you are consistently getting beat. To be charitable toward Todd it is possible he just doesn’t have talented defenders. When you see the same guys making the same mistakes over and over again, then it becomes likely.. Example, does anyone know where Joe Tryon Shinka is today? He is so bad the Browns sent him somewhere for a 6th round pick. There are a lot of guys on Bucs defense who could be dismissed for about the same.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:51 am
Todd Bowles seems to be a great guy. He is saying the right things and taking accountability. He will go back and evaluate everything and try to intellectualize what happened and try to find the exact improvements needed. The problem is, he does not have the temperament to lead the team out of crisis when things go south, and then things start snowballing. The special teams coach should have been launched early in the season, multiple blocked punts and field goals, kickoff coverage so bad they eventually had to concede to the fact they can’t do it, kick into the end zone and gift the 35 yard line after every score. As a leader, sometimes you have to take direct action to get results, which includes firing people even if it makes you sick to your stomach. Just like Bowels is too passive on the sideline, he seems to be too passive in making the hard decisions.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:55 am
Elephant in the room is the fact that Todd Bowles is holding this team back
January 6th, 2026 at 8:55 am
Retire then.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:57 am
No sale, Joe! All he did was describe a process. He took accountability for NOTHING!
Talking the talk is NOT the same as walking the walk. You totally failed to make a point with this one, Joe.
January 6th, 2026 at 8:59 am
Todd evaluating himself: nope, I’m good.
January 6th, 2026 at 9:00 am
Joe’s guessing you want Bowles to stab himself live on TV and nothing less will satisfy you.
In Joe’s mind, Bowles took full responsibility yesterday for 2025. Can’t see how anyone can say he didn’t.
January 6th, 2026 at 9:01 am
I see where Joe is going with this, trying to spin it that Bowles is such a stand-up guy, when actually Bowles thinks he’s EARNED and DESERVES his job from his past NFC South crowns (participation trophies). Well, he didn’t this year.
January 6th, 2026 at 9:07 am
“ It’s going to take a couple of weeks to unravel everything”
It started unraveling when Wirfs suddenly had to have knee surgery halfway through camp.
It just kept unraveling.
This man and the phony GM have got to go.
January 6th, 2026 at 9:11 am
Promise moving on from the Bucs…
January 6th, 2026 at 9:12 am
“ In Joe’s mind, Bowles took full responsibility yesterday for 2025. Can’t see how anyone can say he didn’t.”
What he did was say the same old crap he always says while giving fans the finger.
“I’ve won three divisions, I’ve earned the chance….” Blah blah I I I
Pray tell how he did anything to accept responsibility with his “ we just have to play better BS ? His players are coming out saying his practices are crap.
This Joe is drinking the Bowles kool aid.
January 6th, 2026 at 9:14 am
Glazers will not fire Todd until they find someone better. Someone will fit into their organizational system, in their mind this organization came long way from where we were. They will keep everything same and replace pieces.
January 6th, 2026 at 9:15 am
WHO CARES FIRE HIS SORRY ASS NOW. GLAZERS HAVE TO BE THE DUMBEST OWNERS IN THE LEAUGE. GIVE UP ALL HOPE FOR CHANGE NOW AND JUST GET PREPARED TO HAVE THIS EXACT SAME CONVERSATION NEXT SEASON. IT’S PATHETIC THAT I HAVE BEEN TYPING THAT EXACT STATEMENT ON HERE FOR 3 YEARS NOW ABOUT TOILET BOWELS AND HERE WE ARE AGAIN. DIVISION TITLES DONT MEAN CRAP WHEN YOU LOSE EVERY PLAYOFF GAME. TOILET BOWELS IS A GARBAGE COACH PERIOD
January 6th, 2026 at 9:17 am
Another take is, how much was Bowles handcuffed by organizational decisions leading to a huge lack of defensive talent, particularly on the D-line. Looking back at the Super Bowl team, you had massive free agent talent in Suh, JPP, Shack with quality back up players. Devon White was a high round pick brought in to complement LVD and was one of the beast in the league during the Super Bowl year. When White fizzled out, they never attempted to replace him with top talent, instead they tried to get by. The talent on today’s D-line is not a shadow of what it was a few years ago. I haven’t even mentioned Brady and Gronk, even more critical outside talent brought in to win games. So far, this home grown talent strategy has proven to be massively unsuccessful. Who’s to blame? The GM, the coach, or its it the Glazers?
January 6th, 2026 at 9:21 am
he still acts, thinks, and talks like someone who is a coordinator and not the head of anything. its always we and rarely we. it isnt taking responsibility, no.
he is just speaking on behalf of everyone. when he says “I screwed up” that is taking responsibility. when he says “we have a lot of things to look at” yada yada it isnt.
January 6th, 2026 at 9:21 am
The Glazers have turned into cowards. This team doesn’t deserve our support.
Pathetic and embarrassing.
January 6th, 2026 at 9:22 am
i meant always “we” and rarely “me”
January 6th, 2026 at 9:23 am
This must be the “other Joe.”
Tood says this shiite every year, remember him saying he had a eureka after last seasons self-scouting on how to fix the defense?!?! How to manage the clock? In game decisions?
Yeah that went well, didn’t it?
He takes ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. Saying he does isn’t actually doing something about it. He is clueless on how to fix chronic defects, gameplan, manage and teach situations, but at least he’s about to give birth. Getting fat is something to take pride in these days.
Fire the failure. NOW.

Quote of the day by Thomas Alva Edison: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
EXACTLY!
January 6th, 2026 at 9:27 am
Bowles said in his presser that he has “earned” the opportunity to return as HC. That arrogant statement alone should get him launched. He is a 0.500 mcoach who has been lucky to be in the weakest division in football. His one playoff win was over a Philly team which fell apart much like his team did this year. I hope the Glazers try to force him to give up play calling and he refuses so that he is summarily dismissed in a couple of days. then we can complain about the Glazers giving the other clubs a head start in the coaching search but hopefully Jason already has a few names on speed dial and perhaps their agents are already talking to the Glazers as a precautionary/smart move by the club in the case that Bowles still gets launched. Fire Todd, nice guy but awful coach!

So tell me one single thing he said in those quotes that actually explains any detail of what the issues are that need to be addressed. This sounds like he needs to go research where it all went wrong. How is that accountability? How do you not know? What games were you watching every Sunday? What were you doing day-by-day in between those games to prepare? It’s just the same generalized responses that don’t explain anything.
The Joes can accept the nonsense politician response and “hear what they want to hear”. This isn’t accountability. This is just stating it starts with the HC while deflecting at best.

He’ll No he’s not taking responsibility. Those same words every year are hollow and soulless like his press conferences. If you’re having the exact same issues every single year, the exact same type of collapse and same type of injuries then you’re you evaluate and continue status quo which is why these old decrepit secondary coaches are still employed. You shouldn’t still be evaluating the special teams coach but can’t even fire that guy wow

Joe, you should get yourself a utoob channel. Take a step into the 2010’s.

Quoting an old sports radio host “ The Big Dog” Steve Duemig brought back lots of memories. While I often battled with him I know if he was still here for this fiasco of a season he would be brutal on Bowles.
Accepting responsibility by repeating the same lame narrative and excuses rings so hollow when things never change. Every coach in the league uses the old “yeah I have to do better” line when things go south. The good ones actually adapt and change not repeat the same tired baloney week after week.
Bowles is just giving lip service to the problems. The main one being he is just not a good coach so accept responsibility and step down.

I will support Bowles if the Glazers decide to ride with him for another year. I’m not a knee jerk reacting person like most people here in the comments. Bowles and the coaching staff definitely deserve some of the heat they have been getting this year from the fans but I don’t think Bowles has ever lost the locker room and for the most part I believe the players want to do the best they can for him. I believe we are lacking some talent in certain areas but that can happen win you win the division 4 years in a row and don’t have very high draft picks. He shouldn’t have to change his defense for players that don’t understand it but, as a coach it is his responsibility to get all players up to par with his scheme and I think he failed at that this year. He has also failed to develop players better. I need to see better results this coming year or he needs to be released from duties. Also, we had wayyy too much talent on offense to average what we average in points. I know our O line was a huge reason for this but if other teams can figure it out(see 49ers) we should’ve been able to add well. Last but not least, Baker needs to play better in certain situations. He’s been great for 3.5 years, he needs to get back to that. I don’t think injuries played a huge role in his demise this year. Way too many balls not on target this year.

Oh my gosh, Joe!! You’ve been bought off. What happened? Did the front office threaten to cut off your access if you didn’t start kissing Bowles’ butt? All season you complained and now you’re defending? The wallet is mightier than the pen and the sword
I know this will never make it past the censors but you , at least, might have read it.

I still remember around the time of the coaches meetings in the spring when Todd balls announced that he had figured out what was wrong with his defense and that he was going to make some changes.
I thought maybe his self evaluation at that time had him realize what he was doing wrong and that perhaps we were going to see some improvement on that side of the ball. The first couple of games I saw better time management and the defense seem to be not too bad and I was hopeful.
Didn’t take long to see the same old garbage from our defense the rest of the season and actually worse than last year. I don’t believe or trust a word coming out of his mouth that if you is retained as our head coach and his calling the defense that we will see any significant changes. His scheme is complex and outdated and the players clearly did not buy in and anything he tries to do will likely Fall on deaf ears.
When the players no longer listen to you even if they like you it is time to change the coaching staff.

Hey admin. I see that you are reluctant to post my response. What’s the matter? Have I embarrassed you that badly?
January 6th, 2026 at 10:34 am
Relax. Joe will get to your comment(s) in due time.

When Joe thinks Bowles needs to be critized Joe will criticize. When Joe thinks it’s critique is unfair, he will write that.

8-9, 9-8, 10-7, 8-9… How many more chances, I say?
I didn’t like his body language in the last interview. He seemed tense and gave no true answers as to what will change in order for us to reach a Super Bowl. I left very unimpressed.
Bowles is just here to keep his job. He’s regressing; the defense is soft, like Swiss cheese—zone-heavy, with bad situational blitzes, hole shots, and predictable mug looks. Putting players in the worst positions on 3rd and 28 is a prime example. Just keep running that clip over and over, Todd, as you evaluate yourself.

Todd Bowles Promises Self-Evaluation
January 6th, 2026
^^^^^
That’s what he said last year and the year before and the year before. It’s his canned response. It means nothing. He keeps self-evaluating and evaluating his staff and nothing changes or gets better. He continues to say the same things because that is what he believes the owners want to hear and that is all he CAN SAY. He has no explanations or reasoned thought to offer for the teams failures. He has a canned response for every question he is asked.
January 6th, 2026 at 10:47 am
So all these years and Bowles is nothing more than perennial loser ass material–keep your damn self evaluation cause it don’t mean sht.
January 6th, 2026 at 10:47 am
When players no longer buy in, a loaf or are lazy, then you know the coaching staff has lost the room. That is a clear sign that they should be gone and I am a bit disappointed that our GM has not already pulled the plug. The mere fact that Todd was able to give the press conference that he gave talking about reevaluating the team from himself and the coaches down to the players and that that process will take weeks is going to set back this roster a while because it means that perhaps some valued coaching names that are out there may be snapped up by other teams that are also looking.
It also tells me that he has not been told by the GM that he is going to get the axe or else he would have perhaps come out with a retirement speech. In any case, if Todd Bowles is our head coach this coming year, I will see you all in 2027 because he will not be here then anymore, but I refuse to follow this team with him his head coach any longer. It has been insufferable over these last three seasons.

Todd Bowles is not suited for the role of head coach. There is no shame in that. It is past time for him to move on.
January 6th, 2026 at 10:51 am
That’s a fair point and this post certainly provides more context than yesterday’s regarding the press conference.
It’s nice that he is publicly accepting responsibility.
I think it’s fair to point out and ask if we think he’s capable of self assessing. That includes identifying the issues and effectively addressing them. He said last offseason he figured out why his pass defense was under performing and had made adjustments.
I would say at this point in your coaching career you are what you are.

C- as a coach, F as a DC.
January 6th, 2026 at 11:15 am
At the start of this season he said he did that last off-season. He saod they self evaluated and found what they believed to be the reason for the breakdowns. He saif they would play more man coverage. Bull…hes gotta go
January 6th, 2026 at 1:36 pm
Same exact BS we heard last season. And the season before that.
Here’s the problem: Todd Bowles is not a good evaluator. Not of himself, and not of his players.
He’s also never held a single person responsible for their poor performance. So this whole thing is pointless. What a moronic franchise.
