Todd Bowles Dodges Talent Question

January 6th, 2026

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

One reason there was so much hype for the 2025 season was it seemed like the Bucs were finally going to get over the hump and win postseason games.

And maybe, just maybe, a Super Bowl appearance?

The Bucs had a veteran-laden offense with a powerful offensive line, stacked receivers and a dangerous tailback returning from a team that should have won its first-round game of the playoffs the season before.

And if you think about it, the Bucs had a better roster than the team that lost by eight points at Detroit in the second round of the playoffs following the 2023 season.

Of course, after getting out to a 6-2 mark, the Bucs fully collapse with an 8-9 record.

So was the talent on the roster overrated? Bucs coach Todd Bowles was asked if the 2025 talent was capable of fighting for a Super Bowl berth.

Bowles punted.

“I feel like we had enough talent to win,” Bowles said. “The mistakes we made weren’t talent-driven; they were more mistake-driven.”

Win what? A crappy division with a losing record? A wild card game? An NFC title game? Bowles didn’t say.

Or maybe he was just talking about regular season games? Your guess is as good as Joe’s.

There’s no two ways about this: The Bucs had injuries, so too did San Francisco, which played in a significantly better division. The 49ers found a way to make the playoffs.

Simply put, the coaches let this team down. There’s no way one can objectively say the team was coached up.

  1. It's Corn Says:

So the mistakes were… mistake-driven? smh

  2. SteveK Says:

Where is the edge rush talent? We are void Af there. I will give you coaching on the vanilla zone, and kickoff coverage and punter.

  3. I Remember 21 Says:

Whatever talent we did have wasn’t maximized under bowles & Grizz. That’s why he doesn’t get a pass due to Licht’s shortcomings. And you don’t need talent to play hard, which has ALWAYS been a dubious proposition under bowles.

  4. Winny Testaverde Says:

Bowles is by all accounts a swell fella. It sure would go along away in admitting his part(s) in this debacle of a season. He’s borderline obese and should step away for health reasons. That would be the ideal outcome for all involved.

  5. Bojim Says:

Clean house. A reload wont take that much. There are a few coaches that need to go. Todd is too loyal. Start over. We already have the ammo.

  6. Ballwin Bucs Fan Says:

a lot of the talent was on the bench! offensively, you get 5 skill position players every snap. on a team with Evans, Godwin, Egbuka, JMac, Bucky, Rachaad, Tucker, and Culp… Otton got 90+% of the snaps!!?!?!

  7. Ballwin Bucs Fan Says:

Did they run a single play-action pass in December?

  8. gotbbucs Says:

So we are led to believe that a team of professional football players, that have been playing this game since probably before middle school, make so many mistakes that they just can’t be coached? And I know he isn’t talking about rookies, so these are probably supposedly guys that he’s been coaching for more than one offseason.

What a ridiculous excuse for a NFL coach to give.

  9. BucsFan81 Says:

We have to coach it better lol He can coach it from better from Publix while bagging some groceries. Now when are we going to get the news that they sent Bowles packing. The fans want him gone and it’s not just on this site it’s all over. I don’t see how they bring him back and get the fans back at the same time.

  10. ocala Says:

This was a talented team, but bad coaching makes all the difference in the world at the NFL level. Bucs have awful coaching, and it reflected in every aspect of the team. I would argue this year’s team had more talent than the previous year’s team, but the Bucs lost an offensive genius to retain Bowles. Bucs management and ownership look like fools sticking with Bowles over Coen. They need to admit their mistake and fire Bowles.

  11. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

49ers also had BOTH their starting and backup QBs hit on 69% of their passes all season long

Finished 65% scoring in the redzone and finished 1st ranked in 3rd down conv %

And averaged 25 ppg which was 10th best in the league compared to us finishing 22nd best at 22.4 ppg

You want to win football games, you gotta put numbers on the board and not kick FGs because of offensive impotence. Performance issues

  12. Crazyhorse54 Says:

Hmm, is it really that hard to figure out? Let’s try… OC-Never coached at any level. DC-If his defense is that complicated, how is it every opposing OC figured it out? Special Teams-When was the last time any NFL team gave up on kickoff returns? Embarrassing!!!!!!! So, if you can’t develop a lethal offensive game plan, and you can’t defend the opposing team’s offense, and you surrender multiple yards on Special Teams, how are you going to win? Really it’s not that hard now is it?
And, the owners are stuck in other paralysis of analysis and can’t make up their mind….oh wow.

  13. mj Says:

back in August i was soooo optimistic about the bucs- i was thinking 2nd round this year. sb next year… texans game was the highlight of the year, a huge gorilla off our backs with that win. the bomb to tez against the 49ers the best play of the season imo (why they never tried that again?!) starting against new england it was all down hill…. from yaya’s comments seems they weren’t ready and out of position and playing discouraged plus Baker’s play became a negative instead of a positive, epic collapse for the 50th season is now history and seems fitting knowing that the bucs were there worst franchise in sports when i was growing up. the future of the franchise is up in the air. we need a Coen -a bright young coach with nifty plays and traps and a qb whisperer that can get Baker to play like Trevor. Keep the o line healthy, bring in 4 new defensive starters… idk

  14. Bucnjim Says:

Not only roster talent, but coaching talent. How is it that the special teams coach wasn’t let go on Sunday. At the very minimum, he cost the Bucs 3-4 wins. I’d really like to see an article showing exactly how many games they strongly contributed to the loss. I’d say most if not all!!

  15. DrunkInYbor Says:

What’s qrong guys? His resume says hes amazing winning the putrid soith 3 times in a row. He’s fat, lazy, and content. He sleeps.great the day before yames, stress free. No worries or cares. It just is what it is because he believes in his coaches and preparation. Well Todd you suck and your prep sucks and your sleeping fine sucks and your calm demeanor sucks and most importantly your DEFENSE SUCKS AND YOUR TEAM HORRIBLY SUCKS. Now go get some well.deserved rest and a sweet vacation at least im your content mind.

  16. NDog is an Idiot Says:

I will choose not to attend any game Blows is Coaching like thousands more will choose not to attend.

  17. buccintimeforchanges Says:

    JASON LICHT is 93-104

    a 45% LOSER

    12 years

    100+ losses

And that is with BRADY!!!! Brady’s gone and Licht sucks again…weird…what a coincidence.

You loser need to stop accepting loser results and we will stop being losers.

  18. Salvador Says:

Can u win a super bowl with todd Bowles #? The answer is no #!! Time to move on #!!

  19. HC Grover Says:

    Who cares what he says?

  20. AlstottNumber1 Says:

“So was the talent on the roster overrated? Bucs coach Todd Bowles was asked if the talent currently on the Bucs roster was capable of fighting for a Super Bowl berth.

    Bowles punted.”

That’s what Bowles does best. Punts on everything.

Punts on 4th and 1 at the 45 yard line trailing with the game on the line.

Punts on his players by saying we’ve coached all we can.

Punts on his responsibility for this disaster of a season by failing to self evaluate in real time during the season.

Punts on the fans by saying he doesn’t care what the fans think or say.

Punts on the Glazers by claiming he alone won three meaningless division titles.

Punts in the playoffs by going 1-3.

Punts by having an overall record of 36-36.

  21. Saskbucs Says:

“Simply put, the coaches let this team down. There’s no way one can objectively say the team was coached up.”

Exactly! The team is more talented than it was the last 2 years and went backwards!

    Fire Bowles!

Anyone who has watched this team the last 4 years should know there is enough talent right now to win. 10 win playoff team last year with 75% of the players being Licht picks. Adds Egbuka, Parrish, Roberts who all look good. BMo, Walker (IR) and Tez aren’t terrible. That’s a solid draft to me right now.

And people wanna blame Licht and Baker! Wake up folks. Bowles is cooked.

  22. Shane247 Says:

Look no further than the special teams unit to understand how poorly this teams is/was coached. Week after week after week, terrible in blocking for field goals and punts, terrible in kick off and punt return defense. Were these issues corrected? No, they weren’t. We just started kicking the ball into the end zone. Special teams is pretty basic, that’s why it’s usually comprised of draft picks & developmental players. Yet our coaches couldn’t even get results in that phase, all season.

  23. Sal Volatile Says:

The owners just flat squandered a great opportunity to build a solid team for years to come and a franchise QB. They should be tarred and feathered and run out of town.

  24. Mach Says:

Honestly if the Glazers keep Bowles, for the fist time ever we are going to see a massive fan revolt! This is really going to set back the team another lost year. The writing is on the wall we just need to pull the band aid off, i think alot of fans will check out if he’s back!

  25. MeeLoopa Says:

Everybody is bashing the offense and Grizzard for failing. Grizzard is a first time play caller who landed the Bucs in the 20s stat wise league wide (21st). That happend with a lot of injuries to the OL, WRs and RBs.
But Bowles’ defense had not that many injuries, at least 5 years of coaching the Bucs D and a hand picked defensive coaching stuff with a lot of experience. They landed in the lower part of the leagues defensive stats – especially pass defense.
So this seasons breakdown is completely on Todd and his overaged partners – Strong, Ross, Rapone (all 63 or older).
If Bowles stays put, he should at least can his underperforming old friends.
Look what the Commanders did, their O played half the season withour their starting QB and got their OC fired – with almost same stats as the Bucs.

  26. Tucker Says:

What kinda staff is he going to be able to hire knowing he has one year and then they fire him anyway.

  27. Mach Says:

    CHRIS SHULA FIOR BUCS HC!

  28. FlBoy84 Says:

LAC is another team with massive injuries that still made the playoffs in a much stronger division as well. Coaching & preparation make ALL the difference.

  29. infomeplease Says:

All coaches are subjected to the annual question… What have you done lately? Todd Bowles kept a very poor Special Teams coach on the team for the whole season when after 5 or so games, it was very clear that he should be replaced! He also repeatedly ran the same D plays when it was clear to any one watching, every QB, even rookies, were going to set personal bests against it! He refused to bench players who were giving up on plays and repeatedly missing tackles. His D went from a solid middle ranked to one of the worst. This is all on him as HC!!! Is this the HC you want to bring back next season??

  30. Lokog Says:

Since the glazers don’t want to make a change i don’t care what todd says anymore nothing he says will make me believe he’ll be a good coach

  31. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

Bowles says, “I feel like we had enough talent to win.”
    —————————————————————————

While they certainly were in need of more talent in certain positions, especially on defense, I actually agree with that statement of Bowles I quoted.

The evidence is strong. They began the season at 6 – 2 with the talent they had, despite dealing with some key injuries. And that was during the most difficult part of the schedule.

That the collapse happened during the easier part of the schedule, including after they began to get some players back from IR. That makes me believe that the cause of the collapse wasn’t due to a lack of talent.

I wasn’t in the locker room, so I won’t speculate about what the cause of the collapse was, but it wasn’t due to lack of talent IMO.

  32. Jmarkbuc Says:

We couldn’t even coach up kickoff coverage.

This staff and GM are pathetic. Refusing to acknowledge that is willfully ignorant.

  33. Shane247 Says:

A sign of good coaching is pretty evident over the course of a season you see improvements in execution and in the players grasp of a system or scheme. Poorly coached teams flatline or in our case start to regress. Aside from the first 8 games this season, most of which we won by last second heroics, have I ever thought to myself, we’re really close!

  34. Sal Volatile Says:

“I feel like we had enough talent to win,” Bowles said.
    ^^^^^
If you had enough talent to win, why did you not win ?
Aren’t the coaches responsibilities to coach the players from making mistakes ?

So let me see if I understand, “The mistakes we made weren’t talent-driven; they were more mistake-driven.”, are you saying Bowles that mistakes caused the players to make mistakes ?

That would imply that the coaches were the ones making the mistakes.

But in actuality that is another of your non-sensical BS statements meant to avoid saying something truthful.

  35. Stpetematt Says:

Licht didn’t start off strong but he has learned from his mistakes over time and has become a better and better GM over time. When the Bucs were 6-2, there was lots of talk of Licht as GM of the year after the brilliant drafting of Egbuka! Now we have a couple guards get knocked out for the season and everyone magically forgets all that even though Baker’s time to throw drops to about zero and he cannot step into passes because the “guards” are being dropped in his lap on every play. None of the coaches or GM should be released other than ST coordinator. They were just BAD. Defense played pretty well down the stretch once slackers were removed via “injuries”.

  36. Bucnjim Says:

Infome, great post! When you are forced to kick the ball into the endzone because your Special teams gives the other team the ball on the 50, there is something drastically wrong. Don’t forget the blocked field goals and punts.

  37. Shane247 Says:

You are what your record says you are! Bowles 61-74, a sub .500 coach.

  38. SteveK Says:

Harbaugh fired in Baltimore, let’s go Glazers, get him and Monken on line 1.

  39. ghost Says:

fire todd and lets get harbaugh

  40. PNW Buc Says:

    Kevin stefanski or John Harbaugh?

  41. Jarrett Says:

    Fire Bowles

    Sign John harbaugh asap

  42. 76doug Says:

    Harbaugh!!!!!!!

  43. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

The mistakes are mistake driven. Toad, you are truly a brilliant man! John Harbaugh would look good in red and pewter!

  44. Steven007 Says:

    Steve k, I’m with you.

  45. Davenport Says:

    WELCOME TO TAMPA JOHN HARBAUGH!

  46. Jerseybuc Says:

    It’s coaching.
    Sure that’s what the.
    Pats
    Seahawks
Jags bears all said to until they got real coaching.

Harbaugh was just fired. He’s be in Tampa by end of the night if glazers have any sense

  47. Mhystc Says:

Go get Harbaugh ! Make it right.

  48. SteveK Says:

Harbaugh would be a great choice. Cut his teeth as a special teams coach in Philly, bring Monken with him. Let’s go!

  49. GaBucinRH Says:

    GET HARBAUGH!!!!!!!!!

  50. GaBucinRH Says:

    And Monken

  51. GaBucinRH Says:

    NOW

  52. GaBucinRH Says:

    Please!!!!!

  53. DS Says:

Heard a rumor the glazers tried to
    Get Harbaugh yrs ago

  54. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

There is no perfect coach. Many want Harbaugh to come in and replace Bowles.
    From NFL. com
The Ravens have not won a Super Bowl since the 2012 season. They’ve fallen short of the AFC Championship Game in all but one year since. Despite 11 double-digit-win seasons, Harbaugh-coached teams have too often become synonymous with late-game collapses; Baltimore has blown 46 fourth-quarter leads since 2008, tied for second-most during that span, per NFL Research.

  55. buc4evr Says:

I would go for Harbaugh in a NY minute. No way he puts up with the lack of talent on the defense. I think he would seriously push back on some of Licht’s ridiculous draft picks and would demand a stronger D line. Maybe he demands a new GM in order for him to sign. lol.

  56. Stpetematt Says:

Ugh. Don’t want Harbaugh at ALL. The choices are just plain awful right now. And again, we had a shortage of talent once our guards (and LT sometimes) were out. A huge lack of talent. Defense played pretty well late in the season. Look at points against. I think with speedy great covering and tackling linebackers and another really good edge we’d really have some potential.

  57. Mhystc Says:

Harbaugh would take AW31 and Tykee and make them all pros. Look what he’s done with Kyle

  58. Lefty R Says:

“I feel like we had enough talent to win,” Bowles said. “The mistakes we made weren’t talent-driven; they were more mistake-driven.”

    Mistake Driven?

More like ‘Never an Adjustment was EVER made Driven’!!!

Todd Bowles NEVER adjusted his defense!!!!

That stupid pressure blitz would never work, the defender would not get there in time or over pursue and the opposing QB would scurry away to throw the ball down the field and find the receiver with blown coverage and put 6 on the board!!

Great Googly Moogly why is Bowles still here?
Cripes, if the Ravens can fire John Harbaugh!!!!

  59. WhatInTheWorld Says:

John Harbaugh is available. Let’s go!

  60. Fanofdabucs Says:

Go get Stefanski or Harbaugh!!! NOW!! EITHER WOULD BE A MASSIVE UPGRADE!! DO IT!!! IF THE FALCONS LAND ONE OF THESE COACHES AND THE BUCS KEEP BOWLES, THEY WILL BE IN THR CELLAR FOR YEARS!!

  61. Jerseybuc Says:

    All sudden lack of talent
    Guess the
    Pats
    Jags
    Bears
Seahawks lacked talent to until they got real coaches.
Harbaugh would have this team double digit wins and playing for something

  62. 76doug Says:

Harbaugh doesn’t drop passes in the end zone or miss 40 yard fg’s.

  63. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

Harbaugh is canned. If we keep this sack of s@!t then we are accepting the basement dwelling that comes along with his fat a$$

  64. HC Grover Says:

Glazers hoping for a 9-8 record next year. Bowzo is their guy. Glazers love that .500 mark.

  65. SteveK Says:

Big fan of Harbaugh and Monken. Maybe he can bring on Jim Schwartz for DC, regardless, there is a true upgrade available.

  66. Bucnjim Says:

Well, you really have to ask yourself…..If Bowles is fired, who would really hire him? Anyone? Harbaugh has teams lined up to talk to him. This is a fact, not feelings one way or the other.

  67. Allen Lofton Says:

If you are forced to play catch up that takes away your game planning and often makes you more one dimensional. You become predictable and allows your opponent to pin back their ears and disrupt quarterback play.

Mayfield and GRIZZARD are blamed and Todd Bowles deflects the blame away from him.

Returning Blowes in 2026 will be much like 2025. Maybe a playoff win and nothing changes,
    and never ending recycle. .

  68. SteveK Says:

I am excited for Harbaugh, hope we make a swing at him. Great coach.

  69. The Chef Says:

Todd Bowles saying he deserves another chance because he’s won three straight division titles is like someone burning down everything in the kitchen except a box of macaroni and cheese, then telling their family they’ve earned the right to cook Thanksgiving dinner.

  70. Gobucs123 Says:

“Multiple teams with COACHES UNDER CONTRACT expected to have interest in Harbaugh” the time is coming. That is Bucs written all over it. Just be patient.

  71. Lefty R Says:

    Fanofdabucs Says:
    January 6th, 2026 at 5:28 pm

    Go get Stefanski or Harbaugh!!!

I am not sure what Harbaugh wants to do, he might take time off
It’s hard coaching in the NFL… lots of stress and not as much fun as you would think

Now, as for Stefanski. I thought about that for a New York Minute!
However, I googled the Stefanski / Mayfield Relationship and they had a nasty divorce…. I thought it was between Ownership and the Browns GM, but Stefanski and Mayefield hate each other….. That idea is No Bueno!!!

  72. Bucnjim Says:

The Chef, I love that analogy!

  73. MadMax Says:

    Harbaugh is available now!!!!!!!!

  74. Stpetematt Says:

Ravens defense looked absolutely abysmal in that game against Pittsburgh. They couldn’t tackle to save their lives. And Hamilton is overrated. Harbaugh is NOT the answer. Not at all. In fact, I’d consider him a *big* downgrade.

  75. Bee Says:

Keep in mind Harbaugh had a GREAT MVP QB in a loaded division/conference and still couldn’t get back to the SB.

He’s gonna take one look at this Bucs roster and say….nahhhhh lol

  76. Bucnjim Says:

If the Ravens played the Bucs schedule they’d be 12-5 even with Jackson injured.

  77. D-Mac Says:

Now get rid of the joke of a head coach in Bowles and go get Harbaugh! I think the Ravens just made a huge mistake…

  78. Permanently Moderated Says:

Another nothing burger from Todd. Just put the guy on a tape loop and save time.

  79. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Bee wipe your honey down ,,, he didn’t win the Super Bowl w his mvp QB , in fact he got fired with him,,, he won with guys like Flacco so could he take our group and go the same,,, sure!!! I’d rather have Stefanski though ,,, need to beat Atlanta to the punch

  80. buc4evr Says:

Agreed Lefty, Stefanski did Baker wrong. Oil and water. Harbaugh would make the Bucs a hard ass team. He would get players that can perform. No more guys like Braswell, etc. He would definitely out coach Canales. If we don’t get him Atlanta will.

  81. Bucnjim Says:

Basically Harbough’s worst record is Bowles season average. Not sure why anyone wouldn’t want to at least take a look at an 18 year NFL winner.

  82. Twitterfingers Says:

For the love of god can we please load Bowles into a cannon and fire him out of Tampa!?! What is the hold up? Give him one more season and do it next year, or better yet mid-season?? What IS the hold up? Arians? Load him into the cannon next. I’m sure the owners are used to having others clean up after them but when the house is stinky and you own the house maybe it’s time to take out the trash and clean the toilets. Just sayin…

  83. BayouBullet Says:

All right Glazers you let Liam get away last year don’t make the same mistake this year. Fire fat a$$ and get Harbough on the phone

  84. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Really good coaches available this cycle

  85. Scott Says:

The Bucs FO better watch out… gonna have a lot of fans jump ship to Jacksonville. This is really frustrating to a lot of passionate fans. Time to move on… I like Bowles but the ship here has sailed.

  86. Bob Says:

Harbaugh just let go by the ravens. Get him fast!!

  87. BucsFan81 Says:

Ravens fired there coach go get him now!!!

  88. Bucnjim Says:

Late game troubles vs. entire mid-season collapse? I’ll take a coach who averages 11 wins a season.

  89. BayouBullet Says:

If I was Jason I’d promise Harbough a knob job in the parking lot before every game. A golden opportunity has opened for the bucs… don’t screw it up

  90. Ricky Says:

    Go get Coens assitants.

  91. Bucnjim Says:

Bayou, that’s awesome! Post of the Day Award!

  92. Told You Says:

    I like this Joe…

  93. Bucnjim Says:

Bayou plus you got it past security…lol very creative.

On a side note, do you think the Bucs knew Harbaugh was getting fired?

  94. J Says:

    Please go get Harbaugh!

  95. HeavyE Says:

Harbaugh, doesn’t want to come here, we have baker……He’s not going to go from a MVP QB to a I’m hurt QB, that can’t get the ball downfield! Stop Dreaming!!!

  96. BayouBullet Says:

On a side note, do you think the Bucs knew Harbaugh was getting fired

    Most likely

  97. GaBucinRH Says:

Harbaugh definitely upgrade from Bowles… let’s hope they’re in talks tonight… if we keep Bowles 8-9 or 9-8 is the ceiling…don’t forget that the rest of the NFC South is catching up

  98. GaBucinRH Says:

This will fire up fan base and keep asses in the seats

  99. GaBucinRH Says:

    Do it!!!!

  100. heyjude Says:

BayouBullet – Think you are on to something. I am getting a Gruden vibe of silence and the Brady vibe too. Secretive and then everyone is shocked. Something could be brewing.

  101. BakerFan Says:

Per Joe—-Simply put, the coaches let this team down. There’s no way one can objectively say the team was coached up.

Joe this should of been pointed out in press conferences game 2 after the bye. I think the 4th Estate is too afraid to ask the hard questions during the season because they could get black balled. The so called journalists let the fans down for not demanding more and asking the obvious hard questions.

  102. BigZ Says:

    Go get Harbaugh now!

  103. 321BucFan Says:

    Hire John Harbaugh

  104. BigZ Says:

    Bring Monken with him

  105. HeavyE Says:

Please go get Stefanski, so he can get rid of baker! That would be a great start! Let’s Go Bucs!!!!

  106. Saskbucs Says:

I’d be fine with Harbaugh if he there is a good OC and DC to go with him.

We just watched Harbaugh make some bad mistakes on Sunday night though. Don’t love some of the game management and personnel usage.

    Sign Isaiah Likely with him.

  107. When is enough enough! Says:

Go get John Harbough!!!!! Dont be stupid!!!!!

  108. MikeCk Says:

We could get Stephanski, Harbaugh or Kingsbury (who took that sorry ass team to the NFC championship game last year)… but no, we’re gonna stick to the defensive coach who hasn’t had a decent defense in five years and watched his team go from 6-2 the first half of the season to going 2-7 the second half despite the team getting healthier.

  109. BayouBullet Says:

    ,”⁰Sign Isaiah Likely with him.”

    Wouldn’t that be awesome

  110. BakerFan Says:

Maybe why they have not fire Bowles is because they are thinking about firing Licht also. Give it a clean sweep and let some others come in and straighten this mess out. We can only dream

  111. Canabuc Says:

    Let’s get Harbaugh and Monkey!

  112. BucsFan81 Says:

There are clear upgrades available over Bowles. So I don’t know how the owners are going to spin this to fans. If they keep Bowles they will lose the fan base.

  113. SG Says:

Doesn’t this mean that the players stopped believing in the system and is intact a coaching issue than a player issue ?

  114. Arn Platz Says:

    Harbaugh = championship

Bowles = 3rd or 4th place finish with his vaunted 3 and 28 defense

  115. Oneilbuc Says:

The Ravens just fired Haubaur and watch the falcons get him .

  116. BucEmUp Says:

They only lost to Detroit by 8 points because Detroit let off the gas. That game was over long before the 4th quarter ended.

  117. GenocideD Says:

Harbaugh out in Baltimore. Go get him glazers!!!

    Sorry guys
don’t think Harbaugh is not the answer. It’s what have you done lately and it’s been a while since Harbaugh did anything. Too similar to Bowles he’s also in his 60s. Hope the Bucs hire a young energetic HC

  119. Stpetematt Says:

Harbaugh not good. If you don’t like old school he’s the same as Todd. His defense was horrible this year and not physical at all.

  120. It's Corn Says:

the count is 7… can we just get an 8 please

  121. Tim Says:

Rumors go that Bucs will pursue Harbaugh!

  122. Conte Piscatelli Says:

Pursue nothing, this needs to be a done deal for Harbaugh. He should have a contract before he is done cleaning out his office in Baltimore

  123. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘Simply put, the coaches let this team down. There’s no way one can objectively say the team was coached up.’

I like your bottom line Joe. My guess is that Todd Bowles & the rest of his coaching staff doesn’t however. But hey, that bridge was old & needed burning anyways.

I’m still on the fence about the Bucs having talent. We do but only to a degree. Most of our starters are quality players; not All-Pro’s for the most part, but still quite talented. But our DEPTH is horrific, and once our starters fell by the wayside, that kinda became obvious. Throw poor coaching into the mix and you’ve got a prescription for an 8-9 season.

  124. Francisco Says:

Oh plz. Harbaugh is a good coach. Hard when you have a QB who gags in the playoffs.

  125. Stpetematt Says:

Please go LaFleur or make a deal for McVay instead. If we truly want something new Harbaugh isn’t it. Ugh.

I put Tomlin and Harbaugh in the same category. Rather have Bowles than either. And I’m not sure LaFleur is an upgrade either. Change for change’s sake is dumb.

  126. Greg Says:

For all that is good Glazers, GO GET HARBAUGH NOW!!!

  127. GaBucinRH Says:

    Fire Bowles

  128. JohnQCitizen Says:

The longer it goes, the more it seems Bowles will be retained. If they were happy with him, the Glazers would have already said he was staying. Decision making doesn’t seem to be a trait with them. Tick-tock…….

  129. GaBucinRH Says:

    Hire Harbaugh

  130. BayouBullet Says:

Comparing Harbough to Bowles is like comparing champagne to pee

  134. destinjohnny Says:

look this guy aint Mike T we can all agree but man we don’t have enough talent to be a win deep into the playoffs for any coach

  135. Obvious One Says:

I see SO MANY talking about getting Max Crosby or a couple of others and “if only”…

What are you guys talking about? First off, why would Licht go get them? He was AWARE that they wouldn’t be used properly.

Are you guys REALLY THAT DESPERATE to keep bowles around? WAKE UP!

BOWLES MADE IT CLEAR AS CRYSTAL THAT HE DIDN’T BELIEVE IN A “TRADITIONAL PASS RUSH”!!! If BOZO is retained, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO HAVE A GUARANTEED WINNER, TRADITIONAL PASS RUSH… HE WON’T USE IT! “THE WORLD KNOWS” that BOZO would waste ANY AND ALL pass rush talent. He CONFUSED EVERY LEVEL OF THE DEFENSE! His thinking is so Backwards, that you’ve got the Morons of the world (that are so stupid they Wouldn’t actually know the difference) calling it genius…… It these geniuses that HAVE No Clothes and call it high fashion.

And in the end.. “We are ALL LOSERS” due to the Ultimate Backwards, Bizarro, Failure “BOZO BOWLES” Yeah sure! Let’s go get Max Crosby and DO WHAT??? Turn him into a What Exactly “Do you Call That”??? O wait, I know. A BAD JOKE!

MAN THE MAJORITY WAS DUMB! They DESERVE THIS.. I DON’T!

  136. Slacker Says:

The young guns is where its at now in the nfl. Gruden, McCarthy, belicheck, Tomlin…no thanks

We do need a talent infusion. It’s not all Todd. I agree.

  138. BayouBullet Says:

Somebody get Rod Munch on the phone. It’s important to find out what he thinks…. he’s our resident genius

  139. Daryl Green Says:

Monken can stay he can’t figure out how to give Henry the ball.

  140. Obvious One Says:

EXCUSES EXCUSES . Let me save my hero BOZO… PATHETIC!

  141. Bee Says:

Who on this roster would make Harbaugh say…”yea, I can make a deep playoff run with him?”

What is it about the Bucs job thats attractive? And please dont say state taxes.

The roster is ok and he would be downgrading at QB, massively. But he’d be going to a weaker division.

If they get him he’s gonna put a blowtorch to this roster.

  142. Stpetematt Says:

Everything goes back to injuries on the O-line turning them into Swiss cheese, and a couple slackers and slow linebackers on defense. All can be corrected but we still have a few talent upgrades I’d like to see.

  143. Stpetematt Says:

Of course lack of pass rush too. Don’t forget we tried to fix that with both Reddick AND David Walker.

  144. GaBucinRH Says:

just saw 7 teams have reached out to Harbaugh’s agent…odds one of them is the Bucs? Please Glazers, make a splash play and get this coach!

  145. SteveK Says:

I’d take a full swing at Harbaugh, bring his staff with him. Let’s go!

  146. Optimistic Says:

If only the Bucs had players that could dodge that well.

  147. Stpetematt Says:

Obviously none of you watched the Ravens play the Steelers.

  148. Will Says:

Todd has been the DC since 2020 how long do we continue to say the talent isn’t there on defense and IF it’s not there who’s fault is it? 5 drafts and the defense is still struggling. That’s bad drafting, scouting, and talent evaluation OR is it simply this staff cant develope the talent. I would love to see someone else call the defense with these same players and see if the results on defense are the same

  149. Kevin Dodel Says:

    Hire John Harbaugh!!!!!!!

  150. Zero cover Says:

We don’t need another coach. We need 2 good guards, and a premier pass rusher.

  151. SteveK Says:

    StPeteMatt,

I love in the DMV, and have seen Harbaugh the past 18 seasons. Man can absolutely coach, and would be a major upgrade.

Lamar is two time mvp, but he also doesn’t play well in playoffs/big games. They wanted a change, and we should make them regret it.

Harbaugh won a Super Bowl, going through the AFC and Patriots Brady, Sat what you will, he can coach.

  152. SteveK Says:

    Bring John Harbaugh to Tampa!

Joe, may I ask if you agree? I love when you shared your insight and conversations with Monken during his prior tenure here.

  153. Coburn Says:

Will I honestly think this secondary is pretty talented l, but pass rush isn’t there. Last year there as an article bout how Bowles was trying to be different and have larger guys on the edges.. I think there is a correlation between that and lack of pass rush and not being great in coverage. I think when it comes to defensive personnel licht defers to Bowles a lot.

  154. Jugheadfla2 Says:

This is getting ridiculous…….he should have been fired Sunday night! We are already going to be at least a week or two behind all the other teams. I really wish the Glazers would sell to someone who actually knows something about football…….the correct kind of football

  155. WalkdaPlank Says:

People talking about Harbaugh, I’d rather have Monken.

  156. Stpetematt Says:

The talent isn’t there on defense for the Ravens either. He’s a good coach like Tomlin and so is Bowles. All past their primes but they know what they are doing. I’d want an offensive coach who really revolutionizes the game to be in the least bit excited over what we currently have (ST coach has to go).

  157. BucsFan81 Says:

I watched the Ravens and the Steelers and the Ravens were a field goal away from being in the playoffs. Harbaugh record is like 192 wins and 115 losses. Way better than the below 500 Bowles is. On top of that when is the last time the Bucs have beat a Ravens team. You guys are delusional if you think Bowles is a better coach.

  158. KnuteR Says:

Bowlo blames everybody for the failing of the Bucs and too many excuses. He is even blame Baker. He is the head coach and his job is execute the best talents from the team. Pete Prisco said that this team is a Super Bowl contender at the beginning of the season. The Bucs does not even make it to playoffs. Bowlo needs to be fire now. Other teams have cleaned up their houses and the Bucs should do the same or facing mediocrity next season.

  159. SteveK Says:

Bowles scheme is tired, and he will be middle of the pack record-wise if retained. Bring on Harbaugh, one of the great all time coaching families.

  160. Yeahmetoo Says:

Harbaugh and monken. Get it done. Or see fans with bags
Over their heads by week 10 next year.

  161. Rod Munch Says:

If the Bucs can go out and secure John Harbaugh – then I have zero issues dumping Bowles.

What I don’t want is to fire Bowles THIS year, only to be replaced by equally middling option like Mike McCarthy or Matt Naggy. I’d rather eat garbage for one more year than be forced to eat it for 4 more years.

  162. Adam Says:

This dude has to go!! I am so sick of Bowels. Total loser coach and we’re suffering because of it. At this point l, it’s all the Glazers. They’re turning into the real enemy here their inaction.

  163. Ugo Says:

Harbaugh and Stefanski are now both on the market. Both are infinitely better HC than Bowles. Not sure Stefanski would work because of his history with Baker but there are some very good candidates available for the picking and a few promising unknowns

  164. SteveK Says:

Harbaugh would whip some ass on this dvision. Belt to ass.

  165. JohnQCitizen Says:

    Gruden

  166. Go Bucs! Says:

Go get Harbaugh. Great CEO coach who has strong history of hiring good coordinators. You’ll never have to worry about the head coach’s side of the ball being the weak link!

  167. SanDiegoBucsFan Says:

    Gruden.

  168. Letsbuccingo Says:

Sad to say Harbaugh will be signed by someone other than the bucs by Friday.

  169. Ugo Says:

    Rod,

While I somewhat agree with your sentiment, at the very least someone like McCarthy runs a much tighter ship than Bowles seemingly does. Given that this team lacks discipline and execution, I would think even he would be a noticeable improvement over Bowles.

I like Bowles, I think he would still make a good DC or could have been a good HC had he stopped trying to be both HC and DC simultaneously, something very few coaches have done successfully. His ego and rigidity got in the way and now he needs to go.

  170. Stpetematt Says:

Bowles is a really good coach. Last 2 seasons injuries decimated this team. Maybe we should rename the training team and get rid of the ST coach. If we can’t get McVay, I wouldn’t be real excited by the rest of the choices. We need our draft picks so we can’t get McVay.

  171. Rod Munch Says:

There’s no two ways about this: The Bucs had injuries, yes. So too did San Francisco, which played in a significantly better division. The 49ers found a way to make the playoffs. Simply put, the coaches let this team down.

    ———–

You’re forgetting the part where Baker Mayfield played like trash for 2+ months, single handedly losing 4 games in a row with the playoffs on the line. If Baker was even a low-end starting level QB during those 4 games, the Bucs win all of them, and they finish the year 12-5, on a hot streak, going into the playoffs.

That is why Bowles ends up returning if he does.

It’s amazing the same people that claim Baker was ‘injured’, and that’s why he didn’t play well, never bring up him not paying well as the reason the team kept losing close games. If Baker was hurt, and costing the team games, why wouldn’t we assume with the same team, a healthy Baker has them winning a lot more games?

    The double talk is ridiculous.

One man kept the Bucs from making the playoffs, and it wasn’t Bowles, with his defense that was 10th in points against over the final 6 weeks of the year.

  172. ElioT Says:

    F-this guy.

Keep him Glazers- see what happens.

    Can’t wait

  173. Stpetematt Says:

Rename was supposed to be REVAMP.

  174. MelvinJunior Says:

Well, there’s TWO ‘top-tier’ NFL Head Coaches whow are now ‘officially’ available in the coaching carouse… Stefanski and (as old “Phyllis from Mulga, AL” would call his brother) “HAIRBALL” LoL.

  175. Told You Says:

Can we all agree that all caps is not necessary?

  176. Paratrooper Buc Says:

When the Ravens kicker, Tyler Loop, missed the FG, Coach Harbaugh was consoling him and walked with him down the tunnel. That says what a good leader and coach he is and how foolish the Ravens are to let him go.

  177. Stpetematt Says:

The guards are what killed Baker. He was over the injury in a couple weeks. The guards were dumped in his lap on every passing play. Heck, a lot of times the guards were shoved behind Baker.

  178. DBS Says:

MVP QB gets his Coach fired . Finished 8-9. Can’t put more points on the board and out score the other team. After all that’s this job. He handles the ball.

  179. Inwoodjeremy Says:

The mistakes we made were mistake – driven. I make that out as coaches got to coach better, players gotta play better. Need better coaches and players. 8-9 .471 roster and staff talent. Need upgrades.

  180. Bucscoott Says:

See what Washington did today? What is our problem….

  181. buc4evr Says:

If the Bucs want to get to the playoffs they better be talking to Harbaugh’s agent tonight. If we don’t get him Arthur Blank will. Enough of Bowles excuses, this team needs to move on right now. If we don’t Atlanta will and the Bucs will be in a world of hurt next season.

  182. adam from ny Says:

yes baker never had a clean pocket all year…the guard issue was major…the pocket constantly collapsed on him, and the more banged up he got as the year moved along, the happier his feet got too…eventually the feet began to look like trent dilfer of 95 and 96…

baker was not cookin’ in the pot this year…

his tackles were banged up on and off for the entire year too when you think about it…

bake is lucky to be alive…lol

  183. Paratrooper Buc Says:

    Rod,

Baker crapped the bed. He wasn’t the only one crapping in it but he laid the biggest stinkers with those INTs. Baker needs a good OC, Oline and not be hurt. The elite QBs still get wins somehow with bad Oc, Oline issues and hurt. Not 100% victories but they get 2 more wins to get to the playoffs. If Baker was so hurt or the line was so bad, why did he not fight with Grizzard and adapt to different schemes. He isn’t a rookie and he has enough time on the team to call out plays/scheme that isn’t working for Grizzard to make changes. Since he didn’t do that I hold Baker as one of the biggest reasons we lost games. I can’t go with you on the “single handedly” lost the games as I felt others contributed but it’s semantics as his failures sealed the lost or made them insurmountable. Baker is in his final year and I like him as a person but if he is as bad as this year then I would let him go or sign him to a low dollar deal for 2 years and draft someone. Even if he does good season I would still look to draft someone but have him on a 3 year deal. Baker lacks consistency in being good. I think one issue is he is too short.

    Rod,

    ———

One middling coach to another middling coach – no thanks.

Just wait a year, then next year, if Bowles and Baker put up another middling year, then you can clean house and have your pick of the litter, since a new coach would be working with a blank slate. Currently, I think you’re only going to get 2nd and 3rd tier options because of Baker – he’s too good to tank and buy you time for a rebuild, but he’s not good enough to actually win anything, and wasting time trying to rely on him will just get you fired.

BTW, I was totally for firing Bowles last year and hiring Coen, even though I also understand the BS NFL rules that kept that from being a legit option for the Glazers. I still would have done it anyways, dealt with the circus and draft hit that came with ignoring the NFL rules, and said that last offseason. But THIS offseason just isn’t a good one to make changes – mainly due to Baker’s play and his contract. Next year there will be a lot of clarity however, if he bounces back, then great – the Bucs are in a good position and could get a top coach if they wanted to make a change. If he tanks, then you clean house, and you can sell a new coach on the idea they will legit get 4-5 years to build something.

  185. adam from ny Says:

grizz was a waste…we would have done better with that grizzwald dude, chevy chase, if we passed him a laminated waffle house menu

  186. LakelandSteve Says:

I don’t understand what is taking so long for the Glazers to pull the trigger on firing Bowles. All you had to do was watch every game this season and you could see what kind of abortion this football team was. The offense or should we say Baker played lights out the first 8 games. But even in those wins the defensive issues were still there. Just as they have been there since the Super Bowl win. There have been constant breakdowns in coverage by this defense for years. It also happens to coincide with Bowles being defensive coordinator. It has NEVER improved since then.

  187. Stpetematt Says:

Baker is capable of amazing. Watch the Seahawks game again. He’s immensely talented but doesn’t do well when pressured up the middle like most quarterbacks. Get a good backup for the O-line and he will reliably look like the Baker of 2 years ago and the Seahawks game.

I can’t go with you on the “single handedly” lost the games as I felt others contributed but it’s semantics as his failures sealed the lost or made them insurmountable.

    ———–

I’m just responding to all the Baker Boi(s) who claimed he single handedly won games this year – but he’s not responsible at all in the loses.

But seriously, go back to that 4 game stretch… Baker is the guy in every one of them that had at least one huge big time clutch play where he failed.

Saints game – 122 yards passing, 1 TD, 1 INT. He has the ball, 2 mins left, game on the line – and goes 4 and out. People tried to blame the defense, tried to blame Otton, but come on. The defense gave up 3 TDs to the Saints – and two of those TDs the Saints started on the Bucs side of the field, and the other they started at the Bucs 46. As for the 4th down pass to Otton where people claimed he ran short of the sticks – that’s fake news, on the replay it shows him wide open and he’s at the sticks, and Baker, with no pressure, throws it at his feet. Otton had to go down to dig the ball out – causing him to go backwards. A decent pass and Otton easily has the first. That’s on Baker.

Falcons game – Baker does what Winston never did… Winston never threw a 4th quarter INT in a game where the Bucs had a 14 point lead and lost the game. In addition to the awful INT, the next drive, everyone in the world knows if the Bucs punt the ball, they lose, and on 3rd down, Baker has another easy throw to make, just like the week before, and he misses a wide open e2. If the Bucs get the 1st there, the game is basically over. Yes, I know the defense stunk that game, but all Baker had to do was make a throw any high school QB makes 100 times a season, and he whiffed on it. That’s on Baker.

@Carolina – I’m not going to blame the INT itself on Baker, obviously a miscommunication (although video does show Mike had already turned up field when Baker still had the ball in his hands) — but I will blame Baker for throwing that ball at all. Mike had slipped in his route, had recovered, but still wasn’t really open. Meanwhile, if you watch the ALL22, Baker has two wide open receivers to his right, one for about a 10 yard gain, and one for 15-20 yards. Baker should have never threw that ball, the Bucs were already in FG position and he had other better options as opposed to making a contested throw to Mike in the middle of the field. And, to be sure, had it been Mike one-on-one going deep, I’d have no issues with throwing a contested ball, but a cross route for like 7 yards, you throw that risky of a pass? Was just dumb. That as on Baker. BTW, Baker throws for 145 yards, and another INT this game.

@Miami – Obviously one of Baker’s worst games in Tampa. He saved his stat line with the garbage time score, but in reality he got 10 points vs 3 turnovers in a must win game. This game is 100% on Baker, and yes, Baker did single handedly lose this one.

To his credit, week 18, while Baker threw another stupid INT, I did think overall he looked the best he looked in over 2 months, but it was too late.

Baker is the reason the team finished 8-9 vs 12-5. People can argue about the Falcons game – which I think is crap – all Baker had to do was make a simple throw I could make – but even if you don’t blame him, they’re 11-6.

This is the reason I don’t think Bowles would get fired- and I said so last week as well. If people want to claim ‘Baker is injured’ – then why wouldn’t him being healthy turn all those L’s to W’s, and are you replacing Bowles if this is a 12-win team? Unlikely.

  193. adam from ny Says:

    yeah it’s harbaugh time

  194. MelvinJunior Says:

    ——-

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs the Saints in 2018… 417 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, 156.2 Passer rating, 95.8 QBR… and he outdueled peak Drew Brees not Sam Darnold.

If Fitz could do that every game, he’d literally rewrite the NFL record book and have his own wing at the NFL HOF.

But you’ll be shocked to learn, he could not keep pace as the best QB to ever play the game over the course of a then 16-game season.

In fact he couldn’t keep it up for 3 weeks. You see Fitz was something called, inconsistent, which is the top quality in QBs who get their coaches fired.

This is the argument for keeping Bowles.

If this is a playoff team and a playoff coaching staff, and it’s just a matter of healthy, why would you make changes?

This is what I think the Glazers are thinking, this is why I said for a couple of weeks I don’t think the Bucs will fire Bowles. If people legitimately think it’s just Baker being hurt, why would you fire everyone, why wouldn’t you run it back one more year and see what happens – THEN blow it up if they fail again.

Plus, Stefanski is STILLLLL ONLY 43 years-old. Old man HAIRBALL… 63. OLDER than Todd Bowles. His best days are way behind him. The game has PASSED HIM BY. And, it is REALLY HARD on an OLD “Defensive-Minded” (old ‘special team’ really) Head Coach.

@ Rod Munch – I seriously doubt it. It didn’t work the first time, so doubtful it could be patched up. But, who knows… it’s JUST ‘ONE’ Frickin YEAR. Who Cares. If it’s a dealbreaker… Then, Cya LATER BAKER.

  217. Stpetematt Says:

Baker is only inconsistent when heavily pressured- like most quarterbacks. When he has protection for long periods of time he’s lethal. Watch the laser beam to Egbuka for a TD in the Seattle game. Or almost all of his games last year. No quarterback will be consistent with turnstiles for guards.

  218. Rod Munch Says:

    adam from ny Says:
i think he’s coming to the division

    ———

Actually I think the Giants is where Harbaugh ends up. They have a really talented young team, a top pick, they’re already set at QB and a bunch of other positions. They vastly unperformed based on talent, so with a new coach like Harbaugh I would not doubt at all they could jump to 10 or 11 wins.

Seems like the perfect fit since they always want another Parcells, and Harbaugh can step right into that role.

Obviously if I’m the Glazers I go hard after him, but again, I don’t think this is a particularly strong opening this year. Yeah, Harbaugh could also come here and win 11 games, but in the NFC South that is just expected. In NY to do that, they’ll give him a parade.

  219. Sal Volatile Says:

Harbaugh / Monken OC seems to make the most sense as of now to me. He could likely put together a good staff fairly quickly. Say what you will about him but he does have one thing going for him that few coaches have and that is 18 years in one job and a winning record. I think that would be the safest choice. If the owners delay or fall to indecision they will miss out .

  220. BucfaninMi Says:

    ——

Wow, that is amazing – I thought he was in his 50s based on the photos of him. So he’s 43 but was in Cleveland for 6 years?

Honestly it’s not a bad pick, that Cleveland team never had much talent on offense – at least in the passing game (talking about receivers, not bashing Baker).

But his teams were so boring and dull. I think if the Bucs did make a move, they’re going for a big name – and he’s on the other side of the scale.

But yeah, I didn’t realize he’s that young. That does make you think – he did have some success at times, and his offense tanked those teams. But with him and Baker… I don’t see it, and the Bucs can’t move on from Baker in 2026, that $42M cap hit makes it basically impossible – and while I’m not Baker lover, he didn’t play nearly bad enough to get cut or anything.

  223. Tye Says:

WoW! Harbaugh get let go but the Glazers are on the fence about firing this butt nugget…

  224. MelvinJunior Says:

@ adam from ny Says: “there is absolutely no argument for keeping bowles with johnny harr out there blowing in the wind…

Wrong HAIRBALL. “Jim” was the one I said to GO GET. But, as SOON as I heard that the “Spanos Family” was FINALLY open to be willing to PAY FOR a “Head Coach” FOR ONCE, I knew it was OVER. That there was just nooooo way in HELL, that Jim was ever going to chose BAKER OVER HERBERT. That was a RAP. Though, it never really mattered anyway, since the Glazers were NEVER going to let TODD GO in the first place. But, they should’ve… IF they were SMART and truly gave a DAMN. Then, they ended up passing on COHEN, TOO. You have to BE READY and ALWAYS ‘Looking’ To IMPROVE. 💯

  225. Outrigger Says:

    FIRE TODD BOWLES!!!!

  226. Stpetematt Says:

Grizzard would have called plays almost exactly like Coen if he had the personnel to perform them. Those slow-to-develop awesome counter-style runs would have been happening all season if our O-line was intact. And Bucky would have gone hog wild with them again.

The O-line being heavily injured changes everything. And I do mean everything. Plus, remember our offense depends on timing and the pocket collapsing and not being able to step into passes means you can throw all those plays out too.

  227. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Rod Says: “ Wow, that is amazing – I thought he was in his 50s based on the photos of him. So he’s 43 but was in Cleveland for 6 years?”

Not saying that “I” am for HIM at all, BUT IF you were going to do THAT, then you might as well, just go ahead and sign Monken as your HC. Others wouldn’t be any point really, in having Harbaugh. He’s OLD. NOT really a strong motivator (at all). SLOW. Can’t call PLAYS. OLD “Special Teams” Coach. All he would be is just a “Manager” basically, and I’m just NOT very confident in HIM being “ELITE” at that anymore. The game seems to have passed him by, really for SEVERAL YEARS, now!!!! I hope the Bucs are VERY ‘skeptical’ of him. There are bunch better options, as of right now.

  232. Robert Says:

Vs Saints… Baker has 122 yards passing
Vs ATL… Total 4th quarter collapse, missing wide open receivers, terrible INT.
    @ Carolina… Baker has 145 yards passing
@ Miami… Baker turns it over 3 times, scores just 10 non-garbage time points

Baker is what he is, an inconsistent QB. He has a very long history at this point where he looks good at times and then goes into extended slumps.

What the Bucs MUST do is have a legit backup option. When Baker goes into his extended slump against next year because of he’s ‘unhealthy’ – the Bucs can then bench him as needed.

Just accept what Baker is, and use it to your advantage – play him when he’s hot, sit him when he’s not, and don’t be afraid to bench him if he comes out the opening series or two of a game and is wildly missing guys. He rarely heats up if he’s missing easy throws – so have a quick hook.

  238. Tye Says:

If Baker was even a low-end starting level QB during those 4 games, the Bucs win all of them, and they finish the year 12-5, on a hot streak, going into the playoffs.

One man kept the Bucs from making the playoffs, and it wasn’t Bowles, with his defense that was 10th in points against over the final 6 weeks of the year”

You and your one man rant is getting very old. Name one player on this team that was great or even good this year. You want to know why the Bucs didn’t make the playoffs? 3rd down and 28. That’s who.

  243. BucsFan81 Says:

Harbaugh could easily come in here and be the best coach in this division for the next decade. This guy has a winning record in the AFC north with a lot better teams and coaches. If Atlanta gets him and we keep Bowles the Bucs will be re living the lost decade all over again.

BE REAL. Have YOU SEEN the arm on Anthony Richardson… WOW. It’s about a whooooole lot more than JUST THAT. Tell me why most everyone else has NOT ‘believed’ in Baker, and WHY soooo MANY others have given up on HIM… WHY is that!? So, they ALL are just completely WRONG then, and just can’t see what YOU DO!? I think maybe, that is when it is time to take a real good look into the mirror, and WAKE TF UP. Give yourself a good kick in the ass, snap out of it, OR SOMETHING!? Cause, there is obviously ’something’ THERE (or more than likely, NOT THERE), that YOU are missing. After 9-YEARS in the League, & 4-TEAMS… It’s been pretty well already determined by now, and is clearly plain to see. It just is what it is. You CAN’T force-it to be TRUE just by continuing to repeat-it over and over again.

  246. Bee Says:

    Rod

That’s the thing. Under Bowles, no one gets benched for poor play. If Bowles stays, Baker is never getting benched no matter how bad he plays.

I think Bowles stays and they run it back one more year. I dont want that but I think it’ll happen. If Bowles stays then the tank is on because anyone paying attention knows it was more than health that derailed the Bucs. So there’s no reason to believe Bowles will coach any better next year.

This team needs a high first round draft pick and a brand new coaching staff.

  247. Told You Says:

Rod, shut up, you had Bowles’ balls to your chin until an hour ago. You were all on Baker. So just stfu.

  248. MelvinJunior Says:

YES. ABSOLUTELY. NOT just because of “64” ALONE, but because it is HARBAUGH HIMSELF, at 64. Now, Cignetti at 64… An entirely, different story. There hasn’t been a whole lot of coaches in the league, who has done LESS with MORE, than what John Harbaugh has done throughout his career. And, that’s just a FACT. One of (if not THE) Most ‘Well-Ran’ ORGANIZATIONS, in the entire league, and in all of professional SPORTS. He’s an OLD “Special Teams” Guy, who DOESN’T CALL PLAYS. I see ZERO ‘upside’ with hiring HIM. It’s JUST a “name” is all… HIS ‘Brother’ is by farrrrr and away, the MUCH BETTER Coach. Do NOT Get THEM Confused. A LOT of people do.

  253. Bartow Buc Says:

Rod Munch, I just don’t buy all the negativity towards Baker Mayfield. I think his slump had everything to do with offensive game planning, O line injuries and to some extent, the injury to his left shoulder.
Just look at his three year Buccaneers stats. Over 12,000 yards passing almost 100 TD passes. 900 yards rushing and 5 rushing TDs.
Baker has only thrown 37 interceptions in 3 seasons with the Bucs. Winston threw that many interceptions in one season.
I’m pretty sure I know a great quarterback when I see one. I’m also very sure Bakers teammates would tell you how much respect they have for him.
Finally, I’m also very confident a top tier coach would love to have this team with all of its offensive talent and Baker Mayfield at quarterback. Why, because with this team you can win Championships in one season.
    Time will tell.
    Go Bucs 2026!!

You should. Should be really decent odds and a sweet little payout. It’s definitely worth a shot at it! Their ‘cap issues’ should be getting to be in a much better position soon… They are going to be VERY SCARY. The Bucs are going to be sooooo SCREWED. They’re ‘allowing’ these teams a leg-up on them, and they’re going to pass right by them, before they even know-it! Before they can BLINK an EYE!!!! It’s already happening… It’s getting BAD. They are in DESPERATE NEED of a “HOMERUN HIRE” & it has to be RIGHT NOW. If Lickt is not going to get-it DONE, and then they STILL continue to hold onto HIM… I AM GOING TO FREAKING LOSE-IT.

BUWAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Question for the goobs…would we have won a SB without Brady????

No. So…this “built” garbage is a fall equivalence. No Brady no SB

Does that make sense to the Joe’s and everyone else?

  259. Stpetematt Says:

The crowd wants high energy. The team certainly doesn’t need it.

Get more depth. I know it’s virtually impossible to get a starting caliber backup but the league is becoming such a war of attrition you really need that at least in your O and D lines. Secondary too if possible. We’ve got WR covered for now. It’s easier to cover for a missing D lineman than an offensive one though. Have an offensive player out and a D coordinator will target that spot unmercifully. Although offenses do the same with secondary players out especially…I guess what I’m saying is O-line and secondary depth are very important because of how easy it is to target those positions.

  260. Bucono Says:

Fire Bowles and hire John Harbough!

  261. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Okiejim – If they get the ‘right’ GM and HC (Lanning, Stefanski, Steichen, or something similar)… Then, HELL YEAH. You can count ME IN. It won’t take very long, at ALL. Not in THIS current NFL. You can get ‘real good’ in a HURRY, with the ‘RIGHT’ (strong) LEADERSHIP. Just look around, all over the league, right now… Denver, Jacksonville, New England, Houston and San Diego both did too, just a couple of years ago… Chicago, Indy earlie this season, until Danny Dimes was injured… Hell, Seattle and CAROLINA… ALL IMMEDIATELY. What is it about 6-NEW Teams make the Playoffs EVERY YEAR, and how many go from Worst to First!? It’s NOT HARD. Just one or two SOLID DRAFTS, and a STRONG Free-Agency Class or Two, and YOU ARE COMPLETELY BACK IN. 💯 There are various different paths to take in order to get THERE, but it ALL STARTS with the GM and HC.

Falcons 19 penalties, 3 and 28… 2 indefensible loses, which could’ve been avoided had Bowles made in season adjustments. I see two possibilities for baker. They extend him before march, or he finishes his contract, and becomes a bridge for mcvay in 2027 , following Stafford retirement.

  266. BuccoBruce Says:

The ONLY-time I EVER rooted for “TRASK,”was at the SAME exact times, that 99% of the ENTIRE FANBASE DID… And, that was during CANALES, when BAKER was ‘stinking up’ the place and LOOKED-LIKE SH!T!!!! When, it only MADE SENSE TO (as bad as HE WAS) at least SEE WTF WE HAD in our freaking 2nd-ROUND PICK… Again, just the same as the other 99% of the OVERALL FANBASE, at the time.

YOU are soooo completely ‘DELUSIONAL’ that YOU are not even capable of comprehending THAT. Again, because you have allowed some VERY WEIRD ‘fascination’ of a ‘professional’ ATHLETE to F-UP your emotions, as AN ADULT. And, I wasn’t even talking about Baker… I was talking about HAIRBALL. But, for some reason YOUR TOURETTE’S were triggered!? I have absolutely NO CLUE as to WTF you’re even taking about. You are SO EFFED in the head, that YOU THINK that everyone is against Baker and PRO TRASK-LOVER, just by stating THE TRUTH about BAKER. Absurd. You are just not a very stable individual, obviously. It’s very weird. I hope you know there was only about ‘FOUR’ Trask-Lovers EVER.

  268. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Mike Buc – You just start SCREAMING, like basically blurting-out TRASK-LOVER, TRASK-LOVER… Good God. It makes no sense. Accusing ANYONE of “crying” over TRASK!? Is completely INSANE. Hell, I can count on ONE HAND, how many-times I’ve even ‘mentioned’ HIS NAME in the last YEAR+!!!! I mean, what are you even talking about!? Good LORD. That guy is STILLLLLLL living rent-free inside YOUR head, Man. And, that’s CRAZY. Just sooooo insecure and like damaged, or something!? I mean, YOU DO know just how crazy insane that is, right!? Just VERY WEIRD. As an ADULT.

    ——–

Who in the world was going to start? Hospital Ball Bridgewater? This is why the Baker Boi(s) celebrated Teddy making the team, because it meant no matter how bad of a slump Baker went into, there was no chance he’d ever lose his job.

And again, my point on Bowles isn’t that he’s good – it’s that the Bucs missed the window in firing him, he should have been fired last year and the Bucs should have done whatever was necessary to keep Coen – and I said that at the time. But THIS year the timing stinks. Baker is coming off a bad year, he went 2-7 down the stretch, lost 4 games in a row with 1st place on the line, and is going to be 31-years old. The idea he’s a draw is nonsense- he’s what would keep the Bucs from getting a top prospect.

With that said, if the Bucs could get Harbaugh – then go ahead, that’s a huge upgrade of Bowles without a doubt. But what’s going to happen is all the top coaches will take other jobs because no one is going to want to bet their future on Baker when he just got everyone fired. Instead it’s going to be level C candidates, retreads, or nobodies — like a Mike McCarthy or whoever the version of Greg Schiano is today.

I can’t see where Baker HIMSELF, gave them ANY reason whatsoever, to EXTEND HIM before the season. Now, that would b absolutely INSANE. And, I would definitely have to REALLY ‘question’ my fandom at that point, since their competence level, would be 💯 CONFIRMED. Also, as a side note… Bakers AGENT was just recently saying (openly in public), that there will be NO “DISCOUNTS.” LoL Then, Goooood-LUCK with that hahahah. Though, this was before the last ‘two-months’ happened… But, STILL. They’re gonna ask for a 5yr/$300-MILLION CONTRACT, and he’s NOT going to get-it. So, he’ll end-up “betting on HIMSELF,” and just wait to hit the open-market. That’s what will be most probable.

But, more than likely, the RAMS will be DRAFTING Stafford Replacement, either in THIS years upcoming draft, where they have TWO 1st-Round PICKS (that was kinda the whole point)… Orrrr, they’ll wheel and deal, and accumulate a few more picks to wait until 2027, when the ‘QB-class’ is much STRONGER. Though, I could really see him make a move with the Raiders, and snag Mendoza (if McVay really ‘likes him’)… They definitely have the ASSETS, and the Raiders NEED A LOT (not even ready for a ‘rookie’ QB now). It all definitely, Makes Sense.

I like Chris Shula he would probably be a good young hire. At this point I think we can all agree one one thing. No one wants Bowles anymore. Almost anyone but him at this point.

  278. DrunkInYbor Says:

My god are we really keeping this shmuck

  279. BPBucsfan Says:

@DrunkinYbor- yep, sure are. Nothing to look forward to next year, unless you like 8-9 or 7-10. Plus more excuses (which are like rear ends, everyone has one and they all stink).

    ============

Yeah, we can have him and he can bring in his uncle, 1987 Buccaneers 12th round QB pick and future Buccaneers OC Mike Shula to run the offense. What a pairing! We could average like 16 points a game on offense again!

  281. Stpetematt Says:

Every time I see a post with 3 or more all caps words I just skip right by it. In fact all of this website and America too should for our own sanity.

McVay or maybe LaFleur but I’m not fond of any of the other coaching choices if we have to make a change. Really I think it’s a bad idea and we can dramatically improve if we can be highly active in free agency and the draft. Only our Special Teams coach has to be fired.

I’m not saying Baker didn’t have a problem with interceptions but…

    ——–

I do not care about turnovers, so long as you score more points than the other tea. Baker literally lead the NFL in interceptions last year, but…

Over the final 7 games of the season…

    2024: 32 points a game, Bucs go 6-1
    2025: 18 points a game, Bucs go 2-5

That’s why the Buccaneers lost, not because of the defense or anything else. When you score 14 points less a game, you’re going to lose, a lot.

  283. swampy Says:

There is one coach related question that may be the deciding one. We’ve seen that the Ravens fired Harbaugh because he had “lost the locker room.” If it appears there is strong support for Bowles from the players, it is likely he will be back next year. He’s not a Schiavo or Koetter who didn’t have the respect of the players. But we’ll see.

  284. Jackson Says:

There are currently 6 job openings, but rumor is 7 teams have contacted Harbaugh’s agent. Hmmmm….

says Caps kid who delusionally thinks

    A) Any adult is reading through his Caps locked posts

    B) if He post furiously the Glazers will hear or listen

Delusional kid. No one of importance cares about your analysis

The only thing you and munsshck are proving with your furious posting is that no one is interested enough to give you a life.

  286. Jackson Says:

Actually there are 7 openings, but that is counting Baltimore.

  287. DBS Says:

LOL. It’s a lock.zero percent chance The Falcons win.
I don’t care about interceptions only about points.

MVP QB Jackson couldn’t do it. Finished 8-9 and got his Coach Fired. No excuses. It’s all because of the QB.

  288. BucsFan81 Says:

If we still have no news on Bowles tomorrow my guess is ownership is going to stick with Bowles for another year. I don’t see them dragging this out to long when other teams are already setting up interviews with coaching candidates.

  289. McBucky Says:

He is still here? Why is he still here? He never should’ve been hired in the first place!

  290. BillyBucco Says:

There is way too much loyalty grom top to bottom on this team.
It starts with the Glazers all the way down to the Special Teams coach, who led the worst unit in the league.
Both times we won a SB we went outside the organization for a coach, then a QB.
Why the loyalty for such a cut-throat business?
The right decision is painfully obvious.

  291. Drew Says:

Is it possible player potential was AI generated? Or the coaching staff generated bad AI models? There’s this years expectations like last year’s. Fire the cannons, I mean coaches.

    ——–

Yeah, I’ve been pointing this out to people who were openly rooting for the Bucs not to make the playoffs – that those dummies probably wouldn’t even get what they want, and they’re just rooting for less football. They’re morons.

BUT, with that said, I absolutely think the Glazers will make a move if they know for certain they can get an upgrade. Lets say, for example, the Steelers get bounced in the first round. The Glazers are still mad they let Tomlin get away… if I’m them, I’m calling the Steelers owner and offering to trade for Tomlin the second the game ends. In a situation like that, they’d wait.

  293. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

The Glazers need to move TB out or upstairs and hire John Harbaugh tomorrow. I will guarantee you Arthur Blank has contacted Harbaugh’s agent already. Don’t let him get away.

    ———

LOL! MVP Jackson has literally own multiple MVPs, and he was literally injured all year.

My God, the fact you think you’re making some amazing point, it’s incredible. I swear if you combined the IQ of all the Baker Boi(s) and multiplied it by 12, it still wouldn’t match Baker’s shoe size.

  295. Stpetematt Says:

Neither Tomlin nor Harbaugh are an upgrade. More of the same.

  296. MelvinJunior Says:

@ StPeteMatt Says: “if we can be highly active in free agency and the draft”

NOT POSSIBLE WITH CURRENT GM LICKT. “IF, IF, IF” hahahahaHAH. HE’S ALREADY HAD 12-YEARS. 93-104. HE CANNOT EVALUATE TALENT. HE’s JUST a “YES-MAN,”

  297. Stpetematt Says:

    Ludicrous and ridiculous, Melvin.

  298. Stpetematt Says:

Todd was nice enough to coach for the Jets for a while which hurt his record. And Jason has been getting better with age, not worse. He’s at the top of his game now and one of the top GM’s in the entire league.

  299. Stpetematt Says:

We should be using free agency to get mostly nfl quality backups. Starters come from the draft. Teams tend to keep their best players unless they are in cap hell. So we can’t just “get” Trey Hendrickson and Jordyn Brooks much as that sounds appealing- we would need to trade a bunch of draft capital for them. On a team with holes that sounds like a bad idea.

  300. OR Buc Says:

Isn’t it obvious why the Ravens missed the playoffs this year? They lost Mike McDonald and their D sucked. Good coordinators make good head coaches, especially one that has a special teams background. I wonder if Dan Campbell would agree?
