Todd Bowles Answers Question About Fans Who Think He Should Be Fired

January 5th, 2026

The Sage of Tampa Bay Sports, Ira Kaufman, asked Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles an important question today.

“What’s your message to Bucs fans who don’t feel you’ve earned a chance to coach this team in 2026?” asked Kaufman and Bowles’ season-closing news conference.

The head coach didn’t hesitate. He stands on his record.

“All I can do is coach and be myself, you know,” Bowles began. “I’ve earned the chance. I’ve won three straight division titles. So, that says a lot as far as I’m concerned.

“But I don’t really have a message for fans, other than true fans are true fans, and we’re going to try to do our best to go out there and win for them. They’re going to feel how they feel, but that’s not a coach’s problem. A coach’s problem is to make the team better. That’s all I’m looking forward to.”

Kaufman asked if Bowles understands the frustration among fans.

“I understand their frustrations and I understand our own frustrations, as well,” Bowles said. “It’s well-warranted and it’s well- warranted within [team headquarters] as well.”

So there it is. Bowles is confident he’s worthy to continue as the guy to lead the Bucs back to the Super Bowl.

  1. Mike Says:

Won three straight division titles in the WORST DIVISION IN FOOTBALL! Your division titles are paper they’re meaningless!

  2. D Says:

    He is delusional!!!!!

  3. Deeboooo Says:

Doesn’t matter. 1st place is first place

  4. QBKilla Says:

“Reddick was our best pass rusher” LOL

  5. Stallworth Says:

Winning the division is meaningless when Todd has a 50% win rate in the worst division if football. He is just average against bad competition. Against good competition he’s an awful coach.

  6. HC Grover Says:

    It’s Baaaaack….They kept him….Bwaaaaahahaha….Go Jags!

    Glazers Suck

  7. D Says:

A division title doesn’t mean sh*t especially in a weak division. For this clown to think this is a merit to keep his job says all we need to know about his mentality as a coach. Mediocrity is success in his books. Wow!!!

  8. HC Grover Says:

I sm getting a Jag hat and a fish jersey just for fun.

  9. BucsFan81 Says:

Apparently Bowles was only holding walk through practices the second half of the season. Common knowledge, per the official injury reports and weekly news conferences. Bucs weren’t only team going that route.–Joe
As he was afraid of players getting injured. Veteran players were not happy as they felt they need full practices not walk throughs and Bowles focused too much on mental reps. No wonder these guys were soft and out of place on defense.

  10. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

Are they trying to humiliate Todd
Todd is and has always spoke terminally uninspiring guarded “coach speak “
This season has been a FAILURE by EVERY MEASURE!
The Glazers are not cut out for leadership ….

  11. D Says:

I have been a die hard fan for over 20 years but will be touring for the Jags until the Bucs wake up and make some changes. At least the Jags owner knew what he wanted for a coach and fought for what he wanted. Bucs have settled for a coach that is a nice guy and we don’t want to hurt his feelings. Do the fan base and the NFL huge solid and retire Todd,

  12. Chris Says:

Using the excuse of winning a division in the worst division in football when a record of 8-9, 9-8, 10-7 and 8-9 0-3 in playoffs… that isn’t a flex Todd

  13. Optimistic Says:

    6-11 here we come.

  14. de bucs fan Says:

Pretty depressing press conference. It is going to be tough supporting another Bowles led Bucs team. All year the answer to any issue was aversion of “we will take a look and fix it”

He just said the same trash to fix next year

  15. Lakeland Says:

Todd Bowles is 62 years old, with a NFL pension
And the Glazers are on the books to buy him out for millions
Why would he.xare about the opinion of some (Stupid ) fans

He should be focusing on enjoying the time he have Left
He’s really been blessed more than the ignorant fans that want him fired. He won a Super Bowl as a player, won one as a DC .

    His health is good

The fans need to focus on their own pathetic life
And quit hating on successful people

  16. JTHV Says:

    HC Grover, good riddance.

  17. Lessismore Says:

Joe (s) first thing I tuned into was “pressures” we had good pressures as he defends lack of edge…
    And
“I won 3 division titles” – seriously – in the worst division?
More of the same. Although, I really didn’t expect anything else – like some modest self reflection.

  18. HeartyDickerson Says:

    “That’s not a coach’s problem.”

There you have it Glazers, this is what you’re asking your entire fanbase to accept. Have fun trying to fill 20k seats next season.

  19. Durango 95 Says:

    Agree with ‘D’.

    Bowles is delusional.

At this point it makes no difference to me.

If he’s coming back after 50 seasons I will not be back. I’m not watching that fool trying to coach, again. Apparently he now thinks he gets to judge who the true fans are.

He’s absolutely out of his depth. I’ve always been a Glazer supporter but if Bowles is coming back looks like the Glazers are entirely out of touch with most of their fans. Out of touch or more likely indifferent.

  20. Weebs10 Says:

Seeing this answer typed is better than it sounded live. His body language/tone while responding to Ira was very off putting.

  21. Tbbucs3 Says:

He’s right in the sense that if he is brought back fans have to suck it up and quit the moaning…..

Lots of that going on right now as if the Glazers are actually reading all your “Fire Bowles” comments from the fans.

  22. GaBucinRH Says:

Nope… gotta go… great guy…but we need new blood and direction… what are the Glazers waiting on? Let him go and let’s everyone move on

  23. Tom Petty Says:

Grover – don’t threaten us with a good time 😭

  24. HC Grover Says:

It does not matter bout fans….only Glazers. This is absurd.

  25. buc4evr Says:

If Bowles is really going to stay the Glazers need to direct Licht to hire a experienced DC, get a real OC, and go after the best FAs on defense focusing on DL, Edge rushers and ILBs. oh and a shutdown corner would be nice.

  26. darengibo Says:

Man, zero accountability and bragging about winning divisions with 9-9 or 8-9 record… unreal.

  27. HeavyE Says:

I’m a Buccaneers fan! & will stay a Buccaneers fan!!! Let’s Go Bucs! We have to get Better!!!

  29. TheVerv7 Says:

Saying you deserve another chance because you BARELY won the worst division in football 3x in a row is like bragging about being the smartest kid on the short bus.

  30. Buddhaboy19 Says:

Should’ve canned Bowles and went with Canales or Liam Cohen.

Freaking both better than Todd turd in the punch Bowles.

The Jags are a good team, and he has mostly the same players.

  31. HC Grover Says:

Do anyone realize how f’d up this cr@p is? This Buc organization is done for.

  32. jugheadfla2 Says:

    gonna repost this here:

Just for everyone’s info because I keep hearing the Retire? word but let me make it clear and I think everyone would say the same that in that press conference it did not seem like Retirement is on the table. He is already trying to look at next season. He is going to have to be fired, plain and simple.

  33. HC Grover Says:

Heavy E is for the London Bucs

  34. Gman Says:

What did you people think he was going to say? Y’all didn’t really think he was getting fired right? Please tell me that was wishful thinking

  35. Aceofaerospace Says:

Us “true fans” want 100% effort from players and coaches making millions of dollars every game. Losing 3 division games in a row, 2 at home is inexcusable. Period. Fire Lovie Bowels.

  36. Ryan Says:

I won’t be renewing my Season Tickets. Was hoping for a little more. Times are getting tighter, and my.new first cut will be season tickets.

  37. loweredexpectations Says:

I’ve always pressed “confident” on all your polls about bowles for years. the more often i hear him talk and deflect blame the more i want him gone. its the same monotone droning on and on and on.. hes out of touch with the pulse of the players and the fans. its evident. yet he cant even openly accept the blame. his defensive statistics are way more than enough to have him jettisoned. I’ve had enough after this press conference. I’m done. “NO CONFIDENCE.”
    .

  38. LVMYBUCS Says:

Just milking the clock until they fire me guys. Funny how he thinks wining 3 titles in the “WORST DIVISION IN FOOTBALL” is a good thing.

I was a Dolphins fan before the Bucs came in to existence. At this point Dolphins are in the rear view mirror. But the Jags could be a team I could shift over to until the Glazers get their head out of their backside. After 50 season I get to do whatever I want. I don’t owe the Bucs anything.

    “Secure Coen 2025.”

Sill has a good ring to it. Just update the year and adjust it to a different team. Blow off the dust….Boom I’ve got a new team. Easy peasy. I like your thinking HCG.

  40. Greg-therealone Says:

Its virtually impossible to evaluate what goes on inside One Buc Place from the outside. That said.

The final responsibility for the play on the field is Todd Bowles. It speaks or itself.

The final responsibility for the players that the team has to work with belongs to Jason Licht.

At some point you are what the numbers show you are. We CAN see that. Todd Bowles is a .500 coach. That’s not opinion – that’s fact. (actually .455).

Jason Licht is a solid GM. He’s not Howie Roseman. He’s solid with some serious weaknesses. Lets be fair he couldn’t pick an edge rusher if his life depended on it. IMHO hes too invested in picking players that fit a culture. I think they’re soft as a result.

  41. Sal Volatile Says:

I don’t think the owners have a clue. I believe they had a plan earlier in the season and that was to keep Bowles and blame any lack of success on injuries. My suspicions are that they failed to anticipate the fan reaction AND the media reaction. If the above suppositions are close to being correct that would indicate some degree of incompetence. Now they are in the box canyon and Bowles holds the cards.

  42. HC Grover Says:

JTHV Go London You Bozo. You are dense. They are moving Bucs to LONDON….Stupip

  43. Jmarkbuc Says:

“I’ve won” that tells you all you need to know

  44. heyjude Says:

Maybe the Glazers are waiting to see what other coaches will be available this week, as well as DCs, OCs, …

  45. Obvious Says:

What’s he going to say? If he’s truthful about the performance he’s putting it out there that he’s not been effective. The three division titles are all he has to hang his hat on so that also makes sense.

But man….with his overall record and state of the division. All it takes is one look at the rest of the conference to realize that it’s not much of an accomplishment.

  46. HC Grover Says:

    Durango…Gotcha. Go Jags….Go Fish….Go away Glazers.

  47. BucsFan81 Says:

Players have came out and said off record the reason for the collapse was to many walk through practices after the bye week. Bowles focused on mental reps as he was to afraid of players getting hurt. Players voiced concerns about how they need full practice reps at full speed. So Bowles is a huge problem. You can’t have these guys not practicing and expect them to play and be in position to succeed on Sundays. Explains why the defense is so soft.

  48. Tbbucs3 Says:

If Bowles is brought back (bucs fans need to prepare for that senario)….

My two main issues with him right now are
    – Stubbornness with the defense and not willing to give it up
    – Probably the only Coach in the league who doesn’t take any blame at the podium and actually blames his players instead. Never even as simple “I didnt do a good enough job”

But at the same time, I don’t know why so many fans are acting like Bowles is Lovie Smith or Dirk Koetter. Bowles has done some good things with the Bucs in the post-Brady era.

  49. Les Says:

GLAZZERS DONT KOW FOOTBALL . I. GETTING A JAGS JERSEY .GO JAGS GO COEN ! UNTILL BOWLES IS GONE .

  50. Aubpierce Says:

I’ve been a Buc fan for 50 years, if the Glazers don’t fire Bowles I will become a Jag fan. I will be 75 in 6 days, and I don’t have time to wait another year before the inevitable. I want to go out a winner not a loser.

  53. Buc4ever Says:

this is a nice guy, but he’s delusional and stubborn. Thank you, Ira from the fan base and the seasons ticket holders for asking the question

  54. Brevard Buc Says:

I’m ok with him coming back for another year, with contingencies. Make Baker play out the final year on his contract, see if he improves off this year before offering an extension. Have Grizzard back so Baker has a second year with the same OC for the first time in his career. Sign M1k3 to a 1 yr contract. If Bowles has another swoon during the season, blow it all up and start over with a new head coach that can pick his qb whether that’s Baker or someone else.

  55. HeavyE Says:

  64. When is enough ENOUGH Says:

He pretty much told us fans to shove it. That is the picture he painted. But what do you expect from the Owners they bout a Superbowl now we have to sit here and deal with being cheap as they recoup the money spent buying it. They jut fired the Manchester United coach and he was a great coach. Yet they keep this moron. Goes to show you they have no idea how to run a sports team. its $$$$ for them.

  65. Robert Says:

How do you sell tickets to a losing proposition. There is no world in which I see the Buccaneers ever going to the Superbowl with Bowles as a coach. If this is the case then why is he still the coach. He has had a losing record in all but one of his seasons as a head coach. He had a losing season with Tom Brady as a QB . He is why Brady retired. He saw no future with Bowles.

  66. Mobucs Says:

Great answer, Coach, to a gnarly question!! The interrogator didn’t have the guts to challenge him directly, but hid behind anonymous “fans who” have “feelings” that are masked behind rhetoric that sounds like rational evaluation. Is it too hard to say, “I don’t think you deserve to keep your job.” Or, if the questioner claims to speak on behalf of others, why not, “What do you say to fans who support you in difficult times”?

  67. It's Corn Says:

Happy 75th ! Mine is coming in just a few weeks. I am no longer a “fan” of the NFL in it’s entirety. I am only curious about what happens with Baker.

  70. John5 Says:

He has the same canned responses that he slightly changes up a bit depending on the question. As a fan it’s unacceptable, and one of the biggest reasons I haven’t been happy with him as a head coach. Have some accountability. The Bucs have had plenty of bad games and coaching, and we’ve seen coaches that can articulate the failures well with accountability, and others that deflect with general responses while being more dependent on those around them to win. We all hate losing. But I at least appreciate seeing the HC identifying the issues for correction.

Show some passion and care for the team and fans you goon. Tired of that lovie-like grin regardless of what’s happening.

  71. Aceofaerospace Says:

Sorry Lakeland, some of us fans with “pathetic lives” actually had careers where we would be fired for having a bad week. As a 30 year, retired air traffic controller, I can assure you mediocrity would not have been acceptable in my career. I expect no less from professional football players and coaches.

  72. JoeJagsFan Says:

    HC,

  75. Told You Says:

The Glazers are business people. They should understand “sunk costs.” You make business decisions based on your current situation, today, not based on the costs of past poor decisions that got you where you’re at today. Pay the man’s buyout. It’s what is best for the franchise.

  86. JA Says:

Cutting Bowles some slack, much of the 28 yard first down heartbreak by Atlanta can be placed on the players.
But losing 7 of 8 before eking out a win against Carolina should be enough for any coach to claim he needs to work harder on his leadership and game management, not proclaiming his tenure deserves another year.
The first half clock management against Carolina was about as bad as it gets—just incredulously awful!!
Two minutes left with three timeouts and Todd runs it down to 18 seconds before taking a timeout?? Even the announcers were wondering what was going through his head. How can a professional head coach on any level play for a FG when a touchdown was there for the taking?
What was he thinking?? Did he have no trust in Baker or lose track of time AGAIN?
Todd shouldn’t be telling us he deserves another year, he should be apologizing to the fans for letting a season with great potential fall by the wayside.
Again, the Bucs finish was as bad as it gets.
Todd might get another chance, but he far from deserves one.
And that will be on the Glazers …

@ Tbbucs3 Says: “Liam Coen literally ghosted the Bucs calls and we have “fans” begging to go be Jaguars fans.”

He was literally, already THERE in the meeting WITH KAHN, himself! What’s he supposed to do!? He eventually ANSWERED BOWLES, as soon as he got the chance. I mean, what do you EXPECT. They already had THEIR chance, and they fricken BLEW-IT. He only did what was best for HIS FAMILY, and no different than what anyone else WOULD DO. What YOU have in ‘your mind’ is NOT reality, or how these things work. It’s delusional, or like living in a fantasyland or something!? You can’t blame HIM. The MUCH better and more interesting question though, would be… WHY in the hell were the BUCS FO and Ownership PANICKED and freaking TF OUT so hard LIKE THAT, while DESPERATELY trying to contact HIM in the first place… ESPECIALLY, at that point!? I mean, it was OVERRRRR. They had THEIR CHANCE. They literally just screwed themselves, and ALL OF US in the process, by soooo miserably misplaying their hand. LAZY. WEAK. PATHETIC. INCOMPETENT. Complete CLOWN SHOW. Just HORRIBLE.

AND, when it is soooo hard finding the ‘right’ coach like THAT in the first place… Especially, on THAT level. It was just SO plain to see. It’s YOUR JOB, JL. But, JUST WAIT… When, they’re playing their ‘home games’ just a short little drive up the road at Camping World Stadium. Ya don’t think Orlando won’t FULLY EMBRACE THEM, especially a ‘winning’ team!? Their new “home away from home.” It’ll be a complete GAME-CHANGER, as they fall ‘in love’ with THIS TEAM and THIS HEAD COACH. It’s PATHETIC, and enough to just make you SICK.

Ah yes, the classic “he’s rich so accountability no longer applies” argument.

Nobody said Bowles should cry himself to sleep over fan opinions — they’re saying he’s bad at his job right now. Being 62, healthy, wealthy, and previously successful doesn’t magically make today’s results acceptable.

Fans don’t hate “successful people.” They hate watching a talented roster get wasted while being lectured by internet philosophers about pensions and gratitude.

If criticism of a public employee making millions off performance bothers you this much, maybe you’re the one taking it personally.

  110. Pewter Power Says:

Soooo a true fan wouldn’t ask for the job of a mediocre coach who limps into the playoffs every year? Well almost every year now that you’ve had this epic collapse

  111. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Gipper – WE HAVE EYES. Don’t need meaningless stats. I mean, you would seriously be looked at as a ‘mental patient’ if you were to say any of that garbage while out in public. LoL they would want to admit you ASAP talkin’ like that. You obviously already have Tourette’s, but now you are completely LOSING IT. Anyone can tell the ‘difference’ between GREAT QB’ing, than JUST a BUNCHA ‘meaningless’ EMPTY-STATS of one, “Baker Freaking Mayfield.” You are obviously just TROLLING, or your Tourette’s have began kicking in again!!!! Either way, JUST STOP.

  112. Cleanhouse Says:

This guy Gaslights us about how good a fan we are then tells us it’s not his problem. Great leadership.

  113. Football 1 Says:

Give Ira credit for asking the tough elephant in the room question.Give Bowles credit for answering it head on. Bowles is correct everyone is frustrated himself included. Bowles is also correct, he did not pick the division, however, he did win it multiple years. This year was a nightmare no doubt.
The players acknowledged today the walk through practices probably hurt. I think Bowles learned from that. I think some players took advantage and loafed. I think they will be gone.
Bottom line I am ok with Bowles returning with definite changes. The ST coach has to go and yes you can blame Bowles he was not let go a long time ago. I think the OC was in over his head and all the injuries only made it worse. I think the team has to look into why all the injuries and is there a way that can be reduced with different conditioning. We need to get a big time edge rusher in Free Agency. We have a poor record in drafting edge guys. We need 2 solid MLB who can run and cover. Trade McColumn and pick up a solid cover corner, depth on the OLine and cornerback not so injury prone. It appears Dean and Morrison can’t stay healthy

3rd and 28; 4th and 12……….The defensive genius has a lot of explaining to do…..Doesn’t matter just the usual mishmash of football cliches that doesn’t amount to anything. Todd Bowles is a good man but a lousy DC and a worse HC. If he were a good HC, he would have fired his DC years ago.

  115. Gipper Says:

    MelvinJunior,

Your eyes got disconnected from your brain a long time ago. Can’t help you. Don’t think anyone can. If you had a brain you would look at the Manning’s numbers on pro football reference. You won’t because………………..goes back to that brain thing.

  116. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Gipper

I’m a fan of Baker, but he’s not in the same class of QB as Peyton Manning, who is one of the greatest to ever and is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

  117. Joe in Michigan Says:

Remember his whiny rant about “looking in the mirror”? WHY CAN’T HE LOOK IN THE MIRROR? He has to know his defensive scheme is TERRIBLE, right?

  118. BucU Says:

Todd Bowles and the Buccaneers organization are back to being a garbage organization. The Glazers are COWARDS. Go on and keep Bowles. Just know about 85% of the fan base are giving the middle finger to you. F em. I’ve seen enough of this garbage.

  119. BigZ Says:

It’s just a matter of time. When there’s this much talk about anything in life its inevitable. Just move on. It’s not like were talking about Landry, Jimmy, Parcells, Cower, Holmgren, Walsh, Tomlin, Reid, etc.

If we were dominant under his head coaching tenure if so there would not be this talk. He’s TWO games over! One playoff win. He will never win11 games, and I think 11 wins is not all that. So I’m setting the bar low just for him.

Get an offensive guy and show me that Bake is a franchise QB. Taking Bake to the next level should be the priority, and then the next qb. That’s how dynasty are created.

It’s been a while since we had a good coach. BA was a rental. Then it was only Jon and Tony.
Think about that. We can do better. Do it now and not waste some of our players prime and twilight years.

  120. Rob Says:

His pressers are a non stop circle-jerk.
“I’ve won 3 division titles”. Yeah, in one of the worst divisions EVER! Yet, we’re only 50/50 when playing the crap teams within our division. Atl swept us last year w/a 36 y/o qb playing one his 3rd team!
How did we do in our Pop Warner division this year, Todd? THIRD!!!
You’ve turned even our stud players into mediocre posers. Aside from Evans, Godwin, David & Wirfs, few others answered the game-day bell. And what do all of those players have in common? They were here BEFORE you became HC. That says it all!

  121. Jmarkbuc Says:

We’re injury prone because in the off-season and regular season all we do is walk-through, then we get in the game and somebody knocks our block off.

Back in the olden times of two a days there weren’t near as many injuries.

His team is soft, not talented, and definitely not well coach. Bowls and Licht have to go.

  122. Mach Says:

I didnt like his press conference, he seemed out of touch with everything, says he has to evaluate, should he have not done that through the season?? I also didn’t like the fact that he didn’t really care much about the fans when questioned or the league. Didnt like his answers

  123. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Durango 95 Says: “On top of all that. Coen’s offense established Buccaneers franchise records.”

Yeah, it’s straight insanity! When you literally JUST SIGNED your “franchise QB,” & etc. You ALWAYS, have to be looking to improve and be READY TO JUMP when such a RARE ‘opportunity’ to better yourself, presents itself like that. It’s VERY sad. We could’ve been SET for at least the next 10-20 YEARS, potentially… At least for the time being anyway, and a HELLUVA LOT BETTER than what we are right now! Could literally see-it coming from a MILE-AWAY!!!!

  124. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

Very in touch with the all you can eat. Not so much with leading a franchise.

  125. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

Having him another years throws more dirt on our buried coffin of 2025. Please don’t let it happen Glazers. You have to have more respect for your fanbase.

  126. Shane247 Says:

One thing I’m certain of, is the Glazer’s, while terrible at making football decisions are great at making financial decisions. They understand the financial impact of retaining Bowles. They will lose a significant part of their fanbase and once gone, these people may never come back.

  127. Todd Says:

People need to stop referring to the NFC South as the worst division in football, because that is not a factual statement.

The NFC East had a total of 27 Wins by all teams combined. The NFC South had a total of 30 Wins by all teams combined. So by definition the NFC East was the worst division in football.

  128. 44cain Says:

    Kingsbury?

  129. Stpetematt Says:

The odds of hitting on a pro bowl caliber edge rusher outside of pick 10 are like 1 in 30. Seriously. Everyone is looking for that, a Left Tackle, or a QB or all 3. We actually have some openings at LB, maybe safety and guard that can be taken later and you still may get a star player. Our best odds on an edge rusher with how late we routinely pick are in free agency. It’s not Licht’s fault he’s having difficulty finding an edge rusher. Our history of success recently precludes it.

    Maybe David Walker works out…

  130. SteveK Says:

Can someone ask Coach Bowles what the hell is Jason going to do to address the pass rush? Bc Braswell and JTS weren’t “great” use of 1,2 round picks.

  131. Gipper Says:

    BelleGlade,

Never suggested that Peyton Manning was anything other than a guy who year by year threw a lot of interceptions just like Tom Brady,Troy Aikman, Drew Brees and countless other HOF QB’s have done. I said it because it is a fact of life that if you play QB in the NFL you will throw interceptions. Mayfield’s INT record for his first 8 NFL years doesn’t look any different than Manning’s. I said it because it is true and hopefully it will give you and other bed wetters something else to fixate on.

  132. Gman Says:

You girls “threatening” to go support another team…
    1) Will be back when the Jags go 4 dash 13 again.
    2) Would have way too mentally weak to deal with the 1976-1996 Bucs.

    Go away slobs.

  133. BucfaninMi Says:

If Todd is still here. I’m not wasting my time or money on this team anymore. They’ve fired better coaches than Todd for less. Rudderless organization at this point. The Tom Brady effect is gone. Decade of depression coming soon. I ain’t got time for it

  134. BucfaninMi Says:

I’ll stop watching football. No other team.

  135. SteveK Says:

Bucs fan for life, but man I’m annoyed not understanding the direction of the team. If we stick with the HC/GM/QB, great, but the GM must absolutely make an update to the pass rush that’s not via draft picks bc he stinks at drafting and Bowles stinks at developing an edge rusher. I’m offended watching the toothless pass rush.

  136. Doughboy Says:

The Falcons have had last few years a lot better draft than us yet they fired their GM and coach. I thought they were crazy, especially GM. Light about 50/50 at drafting yet here we are and nothing. It’s got to start at the top before canning the coach and should start now. We don’t want division titles only . We want to be in the NFC Championship Amen.

  137. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Gipper – Much MUCH ‘different’ game THEN. Nobody even pays any attention to Comp % anymore, and for GOOD REASON. Unless, it’s just miserable and even then, it is just to prove a point that someone SUCKS LoL. Regardless, there is NOT ONE ‘serious’ person out there, who would EVER put Baker Mayfield in the same breath as PEYTON MANNING. NOT ONE. Because, then that would be totally ABSURD. It’s actually, VERY weird that YOU ARE, Which again, leads me to believe that you are a TROLL… Or, it’s just Tourette’s. I actually, doesn’t even make ANY SENSE. IT’s WEIRD. To be THAT ‘IN-LOVE’ with ANY ‘professional’ ATHLETE, but especially one like Baker… Who has a PROVEN track record of NOT being so great! No matter HOW MANY times, you try to say-it again to YOURSELF, you can’t make-it or wish-it to be TRUE. It is what it is. CLEARLY to see. I mean, it’s not even a real question or debate. There WILL BE a reason for WHY Baker will w never be in The NFL HOF. Actually, MANY reasons. It will NEVER happen. It’s already a DONE DEAL. I mean, EVEN IF HE ‘WINS’ 2-Super Bowls, he will ONLY THEN become a ‘Borderline’ HOF’er. But, let’s BE REAL… It ain’t happenin.

  138. BucfaninMi Says:

Why did another comment get removed? I didn’t even say anything the would warrant that?

He’ll never change and every day he proves it more.

That 16-14 score is all he’ll ever be worth. And all he is capable of.

He’s an ultra conservative Dungy type on offense without a great defense.

A defensive guru without the ability to coach the defense.

  141. Steven007 Says:

A lot of revisionist history with Coen. We all knew he was a good OC. We should also know that that doesn’t always translate to good HC. With him it seems like it has. Don’t forget, we had a signed contract waiting for him to make him the highest paid OC in the league. In the end it was his decision. I know the fantasists are saying that they should have jettisoned. Todd and elevated him. They did that in the past with Dirk. Didn’t work out. Probably didn’t want to have that same scenario, not being able to look into the future.

Gipper said, “For the idiots who now gush over Arch Manning, he will never, ever have a year like Baker did in 2024. Just like his uncles never did”

You literally wrote that Peyton Manning (he’s one of Arch’s uncles) never had a season like Baker did in 2024.

In 2013, Peyton Manning had an impressive season, throwing for 5,477 passing yards, 55 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, which earned him his fifth MVP award. He set the record for the most touchdown passes in a single season during that year.

    Peyton Manning’s 2013 Season Stats
    Regular Season Performance
    STATISTIC VALUE
    Games Played 16
    Passing Attempts 659
    Passing Completions 450
    Completion Percentage 68.3%
    Passing Yards 5,477
    Touchdowns 55
    Interceptions 10
    Passer Rating 115.1
    Notable Achievements
Set the record for most touchdown passes in a single season (55).
Led the NFL in passing yards (5,477).
Named NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the season.

Manning’s performance in 2013 is considered one of the best seasons for a quarterback in NFL history, showcasing his exceptional skills and leadership on the field.

Just stop. You’re embarrassing yourself. Please tell us that you don’t believe what you wrote.

  143. Optimistic Says:

The Bucs will be lucky to get 6 wins next season. Owners will still make a ton of money due to shared TV revenue.

  144. MelvinJunior Says:

Manning ‘slung-it’ fricken DEEP, too!!!! Especially, when he was young. He was NEVER a ‘dink and dunk’ guy like Baker, until the very end of his career when his elbow, back, and shoulder was SHOT. You CAN’T ‘wish-it’ TRUE. It’s absurd.

You’re kind of blowing me away. Those are things that I have written in the past. I just went and looked at the other Bucs site. PR and their lead guy over there (SR) is letting it loose against Bowles right now. Take a look if you haven’t already. Sadly not reading too much of that over here.

  147. Curse of Gruden Says:

Have any of the teams needing a head coach requested to interview anyone on the Bucs’ staff? The answer speaks volumes.

  148. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Gipper

Not impressed with Arch Manning by the way. Baker is far superior to him in my opinion.

But Peyton Manning is one of the greatest to ever spin it, and Baker is not on his level, and that’s not an insult towards Baker at all. It’s just a fact.

  149. Lakeland Says:

These trolls don’t represent the Bucs fanbase

  150. Steven007 Says:

Optimistic, all owners make ridiculous money every year, regardless of record. The owner of the Bengals, the cheapest owner in the NFL, has no cash flow issues. I’m not sure what point you were trying to make. You seem to imply that they don’t care about winning. If you believe that’s true, then you should probably watch the documentary. A documentary, by the way that they financed. Meaning they spent money to make it. I don’t see the Seahawks documentary. They started the same year we did.

  151. Slacker Says:

Mediocrity is the ceiling for Todd and he wont get the benefit of a garbage division forever

  152. PassingThru Says:

Completion percentage when paired with Yards per Attempted pass are not empty stats, they separate the best QBs from the game managers, noodle arms, and JAGs. Other stats are important too, like TDs, INTs, rushing yards, etc. They help develop the whole picture.

Where eyes become important is when you evaluate the rest of the team. If the pass protection stinks, that can explain sacks. When the WRs and TEs suck, that can explain why the pass completion percent is low. And so on.

  153. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Gip Says: “Mayfield’s INT record for his first 8 NFL years doesn’t look any different than Manning’s. I said it because it is true and hopefully it will give you and other bed wetters something else to fixate on.”

It was an entirely, completely DIFFERENT GAME then, with different RULES, schemes, principles, strategies, & etc. EVERYONE KNOWS THIS ALREADY. It’s WHY you cannot compare eras. You’re just being STUPID and ABSURD. ALL QB’s back then, when compared to TODAY, threw a TON of Picks. It’s literally, NOT the same thing. It would be like comparing Wilt to Shaq, and on & on. It’s NOT the SAME GAME. It’s just NOT. I mean, do YOU EVEN WATCH!? Or, are just in your 20’s or something!? Cause, this is obviously VERY well-known and crystal-clear to literally ANYONE with a brain.

  154. HC Grover Says:

  155. MadMax Says:

    What a sucka$$ sorry state of affairs we’re in….
And it wont matter who we draft….theres no saving this team!!

  156. dbbuc711 Says:

You did walk throughs, big deal. Doesn’t mean that you should forget how to take or take pursuit angles. Those are basic parts of football that you have been practicing and doing for years

  157. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Sad AF…lost decade has started

  165. bucsfan1001 Says:

Boo. Nice guy. Fire him anyway. No one believes in his ability to win a super bowl. That should be enough. A defensive genius that led one of the absolute worst defenses in the league this year. 3 division wins against terrible teams in the worst division with no decent QBs. And we still scraped by each year.

  166. BUCDADDY Says:

The fact that Todd “Blame Everyone But Himself” Bowles seems to insinuate, at least the way I read it, that only true fans will continue support him and this abomination of an organization is a wild take on things. Sheesh! Yeah, I definitely want him fired now.

  167. Mord Says:

There are some disturbing and/or stupid comments in this thread.

To some extent he seemed like he was goi g through the motions in this press conference

Maybe the glazers wanted to see what questions he’d be asked and how he’d answer before finalizing their decision. I have to imagine with the whole family needing to weigh in, there’s some conflicting opinions to sort through

If it was up to me, I’d fire Bowles and the rest of the coaching staff. ASAP (immediately), so as to be capable of competing with the other teams with brand new coaching vacancies (HC and coordinators)

  168. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Was on Todd
    Now it’s on the Glazers

Unless someone steals my moniker, you won’t see Saskbucs posting on this website because I won’t be visiting again until changes are made.

As soon as it is announced Bowles is back, if that happens, adios muchachos.

See ya in 2027 after the Glazers watch another 9-8 season with a 2-0 start, a mid season losing streak and taking losses out of the bye behind the 28th ranked D again!

  174. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Hey Jude me too

  175. BUCDADDY Says:

Let me reiterate what I was trying to say. You can be a true fan and still criticize your own team and its HC, or in our case, the OC too.

Hell, I still supported this team during the Winston years, but it wasn’t fun. I wanted to jump ship, but I always went back to all the joy I got from 2002 season. I love this team and will never not be a true fan of it, but Bowles has led a team with a lot of talent to mediocrity.

  176. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Steven 007 – That’s entirely ON THE BUCS FO that contract wasn’t “signed.” Bottomline is it was NEVER going to be good enough, and THAT IS ALSO ALL ON THEM. Because, they should’ve READ THE ROOM. Especially, on something as important as THAT. It is THEIR JOB (as well as the future of THEIR franchise). They dropped the ball, PERIOD. End of Story. You are just full of excuses. And, I bet THEY WERE going to ‘pull-the-trigger’ too, in the end… Cause, I mean, WHY ELSE would you just absolutely FREAK TF OUT and PANIC like THAT!? Soooo DESPERATELY, TOO. The F’ed UP. Period. Face-It. They decided to keep and then EXTENDED a 61-year old, middle-of-the-road, defensive-minded, old-school ‘coordinator’ as THEIR HC. When, we ALL already knew WHAT we had in Todd… A HC that literally NEEDED gameday ‘specialists’ for even the most basic ‘in-game’ decisions. The choices were stark and EASY. Anyone actually ‘paying attention’ could see this coming from a MILE-AWAY. So, stop trying to invent EXCUSES for them. They do not deserve it.

  177. Simeon4HOF Says:

    Its a Bucs Life

  178. SBucs Says:

I’d like to think the Glazers realizing that Todd has reach his level of mediocrity with stubborn believe in his absolute abilities that now is the time for a major change. Today they canned the well-regarded manager of Manchester United pretty easily. So, completely clean house here in Tampa. A lot of teams in the NFL will be going through the same growth with new head coaches. So the time is right to do so. Jason hasn’t shown any great ability to bring players unless he can convince us that he picked players Todd demanded. Whatever the reason, most of the 23-70 players on the Bucs roster were not NFL caliber. Meaning backups were not good enough to compete. Knowing that a high percentage of players get injured it was malpractice on Jason and Todd.

That’s just off the top my head, I can come up with another few dozen examples of Baker ‘Baking’ I’m sure.

But Peyton Manning is one of the greatest to ever spin it, and Baker is not on his level, and that’s not an insult towards Baker at all. It’s just a fact.”

“Farrrrr Superior?” He’s played only ONE-season as a Starter, in COLLEGE in THE SEC. I would prob slow waaaayyyy down on that one! I mean, y’all act-like BAKER is this GrrrrREAT QB. It just hasn’t been the case. The proof is in the pudding. I’ve NEVER SEEN A “Great QB” be on his 4TH-TEAM in just his FIRST 8-9 seasons in the league. And, there will surely be at least a couple more. Enough Said,

  188. Saskbucs Says:

    G-Man …. Lakeland…

Bowles is a waste of time. I have only been a Bucs fan… 26 years now… I stuck with them through the lost decade cause the team was trying. They lacked talent, they had no QB, then it was Jameis… their hands were tied. Many mistakes were being made but expectations were low and Glazers and Licht didn’t sit on mistakes long, they made changes.

Eventually those changes lead to Arians, Brady, a better culture.. and expectations grew. This team has not lived up to expectations and its not because of Baker … its because of the coaching. It’s clear as day otherwise there wouldnt be this many ticked off fans.

Glazers need to sell hope right now and Todd is hopeless.

I wont be cheering for another team and I will be back to support the Bucs but I can’t support this.

  191. Saskbucs Says:

Lakeland is Todd Bowles son, confirmed.

  192. Stpetematt Says:

Please keep Bowles and make him hire a DC and STC. Unless you can make a deal and sign McVay, there aren’t any coaches available that inspire any excitement or confidence. Draft lots of LBers (replace LVD and SVD with faster players great at coverage and tackling), DTs, and try again on an EDGE. Also pick up a guard on late day 2 or 3 so we can stop starting these terrible players! Analyze and replace a safety if you need to also. Way too many blown coverages.

  193. Bucfan4life Says:

    @lakeland

Shut tf up. The glazers have fired a few head coaches after Monday

  195. Lakeland Says:

    Saskbucs,

These trolls that want Bowles gone has manufactured lies about him
They say the defense quit on him, a blatant lie
They lost 4 games by 11 points
And the offense had a chance to win every one of those games
But Mayfield choked up m, and cause us games..
These trolls are not talking about a new QB

Arch couldn’t beat out Quinn Ewers, and then when handed the job the next year proceeded to 💩 the bed against Ohio State.

His big wins were over A&M, Oklahoma and Michigan.

Texas A&M was overrated as The U just demonstrated.

Oklahoma was overrated as Alabama just demonstrated.

    Michigan just isn’t good.

To say that I’m unimpressed by Arch Manning is an understatement.

  204. Stpetematt Says:

Mike Buc, it’s just like reading Trump-speak, isn’t it? Maybe it’s a sign of mental illness. Im still a Bucs fan, but there’s no assistants out there that really should be promoted like last year. Therefore, it makes sense to keep Bowles and ask him to get a DC. Someone that can make quick changes on the fly like double covering Kyle Pitts especially when Drake London is out!

  205. rocket Says:

Bowles says “True fans are true fans” In other words, “True fans” should just put up with it poor performance and not demand and expect excellence and improvement. Those fans who are not true fans, expect and demand excellence and accountability.

Ok, keep the Coach and GM, but ask the damn GM how he will address the pass rush outside of the draft bc it’s been abysmal. Cant watch another 1,2 draft pick (JTS, Braswell) no perform. Must. Get. Pass rush. Off the edge. Must.

  207. Toddler Bowles Says:

    Q. What do they call the person who finished last in their Med School class?
    A. Doctor

Coach Bowles finished 1 blocked field goal away from winning his 4th divisional championship in a row so that is the justification for keeping him around.

The REAL FACT is that the penny-pinching, discount-bin, Glazer$ are notoriously CHEAP owners* who have Bowles on a 3-year contract so what do you expect? They won’t pay 2 people to coach for the next 2 years.

If Bowles finishes 17-0 or 0-17 next year the Glazer$ will still, make a Pirate Ship-ful of money. So why SHOULD they make a change?

You don’t like it, but you will still pay for NFL ticket and NFL TV package, so the Glazer$ still get paid whether you follow the Bucs, Jags, Panthers, Falcons or Saints.

The Glazer$ may need to drop ticket prices a little next year, but they can make it up on higher paring, hot dog and beer concessions all of which they control plus they can cut payroll next year as the minimum salary cap is based on a three-year average. They will not be out one penny. Maybe make some more money plus get higher draft picks and more players on rookie contract to enable them to cut more payroll down the road.

Both Joes were working on this site during the Gerald McCoy lost decade as well as the past years since the Arians revival. Throughout it all there was one constant – Gene Deckerhoff announcing and the Glazer$ making money hand over fist. I’m going to miss Gene, but the Glazer$ aren’t going to miss one Ka-ching on the cash register.

    * Glazer$ CHEAPness => signing washed up bargain bin FA Hassan Reddic rather than a real pass rusher, signing Bowles to coach rather than bringing in a big name to suand tater tots cceed Arians, not opening pre-season practices to ordinary Joes, no nachos for Ira in the press room…we could go on….

Duh. I’ve been screaming about his pathetically soft approach to training and practice since OTAs began.

Is it any wonder that no one on the defense knows how to tackle when they are never ever in pads? Is it any wonder they get pushed around and out physical’d by every team they play?

But hey, at least that super soft training regimen prevented us from getting ravaged with injuries… oh wait.

LoL

  230. rocket Says:

The thing is, you can’t fire a whole team. Teams over-perform and under-perform based on coaching. From this year’s team, How many players on the Bucs would be starters elsewhere in the NFL? Maybe 12 out of 22? From this year’s team, how many others would get a good amount of rotational playing time? Maybe 6-8? So, a good nucleus, but some holes. Not super bowl quality, but certainly playoff quality. Now, how many players underperformed? At least 6 on offense and probably another 8 on defense. that is on the coach.

Kyle Shanahan makes lemonade out of his lemons. Todd Bowles thinks lemons are for juggling.

Extension or not, the guy lost his defense which he’s a “guru” and without Brady (where have we heard that before) he’s sub 500 at 33 and 35. Even if he agreed to clean house on the D staff AND bring in a real DC, he’s not the guy. Cut your losses and move on while you still have a roster that can contend with a few solid DB’s one or two pieces.

  247. Gipper Says:

    MelvinJunior and BelleGlade,

You both have a serious reading comprehension problem. I used the Manning’s to point out that even acknowledged great QB’s throw in any single year interceptions. Many times a lot of interceptions like the greater the 28INT’s that Peyton threw in 1998 or the 23INT’s he threw in 2001. My point is that if the Colts had you geniuses around in 2003 he never would have become The Great Peyton Manning because you would be demanding he be replaced by a rookie draft pick. On the other issue, yes Peyton had a great MVP year that was well deserved. He DID not have the same historical year that Baker had because he failed to achieve over 70% completion in that year. To repeat for the last time, Mayfield combined greater than 40TD, greater than 71%comp percentage and greater than 4500 yards passing in a single season has only been accomplished by 3 or 4 QB’s in a single season in NFL history. None of them are named Manning.

Clearly I get why this is difficult for Mel Jr. to understand. When I read his ramblings it’s like hearing from the town drunk. BelleGlade, maybe you just needed further clarification which I have provided. Oh, and one more thing. Hear a lot on these pages about so called Mayfield “happy feet.” That is funny because resetting feet to throw is something that Peyton Manning always emphasized and is taught at the Manning Family QB academy. I would say Baker is in good company.

    ——–

The Buccaneers have an all-time winning percentage of .410% — so what you’re saying is he’s an above average coach for the franchise.

  258. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    @Gipper

Baker’s 71% and completing 6 more passes out of every 100 thrown compare to Peyton’s 65% is insignificant as far as I am concerned.

    Baker’s 2024 was amazing.

Peyton Manning’s 2013 MVP season is the greatest single season statistically by a QB ever and is better than Baker’s 2024. I’m not saying that, Peyton’s peers such as Brady and Brees have said so.

Heck Gipper, I like Peyton’s 2006 Season better than Bakers 2024.

Peyton Manning – 2006 Season Stats (Indianapolis Colts)
    Regular Season (16 games)
    Passing yards: 4,397
    Touchdowns: 31
    Interceptions: 9
    Completion percentage: 65.0%
    Passer rating: 101.0
    Record as starter: 12–4

And what makes it superior to Baker’s season is that Peyton Manning
Led the Colts to a Super Bowl Championship and he was the Super Bowl MVP.

As Tom Brady says, QB’s are ultimately judged by their Super Bowl wins.

I’m hoping Baker can do that for us and I believe he can, just not with Todd Bowles as his Coach.

I believe there is some truth to this comment, Licht has drafted some lousy players who have disappeared from the NFL after their time with the Bucs – he should be help accountable for his mediocre drafting skills. At the same time, I also know that players play up to their talent and play below it. Who is to say that McCollum couldn’t be a pro bowl corner. He has shown flashes of it. Same with Tykee Smith. Otton has flashed starting talent at times, and at other times he has played like a practice squad player. YaYa Diaby has the tools to be a pro bowler, but has not been taught how to flex and bend on the edge – why is that?

Some guys have it naturally, while others develop it as a pro. Who was the last defensive front 7 player that Bowles developed?

  261. HeavyE Says:

  264. Rod Munch Says:

Alright everyone, lets calm down and look at some numbers from PFF, I’m sure this will settle things and show what a disaster Bowles was, and how he held back Baker and the offense…

    PFF Year End Rankings

    Bucs OVERALL – 23rd

    Bucs OFFENSE OVERALL – 23rd
    Bucs DEFENSE OVERALL – 18th

    Bucs PASSING – 26th
    Bucs RUSHING – 6th
    Bucs PASS BLOCKING – 12th
    Bucs RUN BLOCKING – 25th

    Bucs PASS RUSH – 8th
    Bucs PASS COVERAGE – 22nd
    Bucs RUSH DEFENSE – 21st
    Bucs TACKLING – 16th

So there you go, the biggest issue on the team was Baker Mayfield. Exactly what my eyes told me when watching games. Turns out he actually had good blocking, and a great run game to boot, and yet still finished 26th.

  265. Lakeland Says:

    Down the stretch,

We couldn’t run the ball, we couldn’t pass the ball
And we turned over the ball in critical moments of the game

    That’s a disaster for losing

  266. Sly Pirate Says:

    What’s he’s supposed to say?

    “I should be fired.”

    Said no NFL coach ever.

He never takes accountability. Why start now?

  267. BucsfaninOregon Says:

The only reason I return to his site is to see if Bowles is gone yet! Also, to see if Licht is gone too.

  268. LakelandSteve Says:

If I hear for one more year, we have to coach it better and the players have to play better. I just can’t wrap my mind around the Glazers even considering keeping this guy. I get that the players love him I’m sure he’s a great guy but that doesn’t make you a great coach. To let him coach another season would be like letting a habitual thief out of prison hoping he doesn’t steal. But that is who the thief is. We have seen Bowles perform as Head Coach for years now and make poor coaching decisions and his team doesn’t seem to know how to win. But, this is who Bowles is and he is not going to change.

  269. Simeon4HOF Says:

FA going to be interesting this year

  270. TheVerv7 Says:

If the owners show that they could give two turds about this team then why should the fans? I’ve been a diehard Bucs fan since the early 90’s and have had to endure some tough tenures (dark decade with Rah, Greg “toe the line” Schiano, Lovie, etc) but I still always had something to look forward to with the new season (FA, drafts, etc) This time it’s different …this may be the fist time I’ve never actually looked forward to the upcoming season. We have an arrogant dinosaur who REFUSES to admit his system is the problem and won’t adapt at all. We have a GM who just sits on his hands and does nothing to address glaring issues on the roster. To top it all off we have owners who are either just as delusional as Todd is or just too afraid to do what needs to be done and move on to someone new and fresh, all because of the “buddy system”. Atlanta ownership has shown their standards are higher than the Glazers. If they are content with mediocrity why should the fans have to accept it. Don’t get me wrong I’ll still cheer for my team, but I’m just gonna be a wooden mannequin with not as much emotion this time around sorta like the emotionless mannequin coaching our team from the sideline. Stay strong Bucs fans because we have been through much worse and persevered.

  279. Ryan M. Says:

Todd is dead wrong. His defense that he’s this so called mastermind of has been trash and a liability.

Dave Canales and Liam Coen won the division for us the last 2 seasons and Bruce Arians and Brady’s roster won it for us the previous year.

  280. Lefty R Says:

Also, I want to add… I would pickup Jonathan Gannon for DC
I wouldn’t want him as Head Coach, but would definitely sign him as DC

And for the love of all that good, FIRE TODD BOWLES!!!

  281. Lakeland Says:

Lovie Smith refused to give in to the Glazers demands

Todd Bowles might go with the flow, and do what they want

    Totally different situations

  283. lambchop Says:

Umm, can someone please tell Todd Bowles that his OCs the past 3 years basically won three division titles. This year Todd, a “defensive guru”, couldn’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag with a below average OC.

Todd, you’ve been exposed. Stop trying to take all the credit and dish out all the blame. Take some responsibility. Your defense is inconsistent at best and putrid.

I hope the Glazers see a guy who can’t take responsibility as a huge red flag. The offense has been better than the defense for far too long. You can’t blame personnel for 4 years in a row when you hand pick your players with a cooperative GM..

Sorry, but the numbers don’t agree with you Baker Boi.

    ——

So which Baker Boi are you? I can’t tell any of you apart since you’re so boring and uninteresting.

  292. catcard202 Says:

So, Todd is hanging his hat on winning 3 division titles against the worst division in FB & doing a damn fine job of alienating the fanbase along the way.

Mr Bowles, might I remind you that winning a division with a 8-9 losing record is no badge pf honor…Neither is carrying a middling overall 4yr record = 36-36 – including 2 losing seasons & losing record in the playoffs – while playing against the worst division in the NFL…. or holding the honor of sending Tom Brady into retirement with his ONLY losing season – across his long storied HOF career.

You inherited a 13-4 juggernaut and turned it into a 8-9 loser – with Tom Freaking Brady at the helm…But that’s the kind of coaching success you have brought this organization. Middling, consistently inconsistent & predictably soft.

But I guess True Bucs Fans should just worship the ground your DEF lays down on weekly.

  293. exBrowns02 Says:

Just a frustrating year to be a Bucs fan. Problems with Defense/Special Teams in general. Problems with the offensive line play.

The offensive and defensive shortcomings were compounded by both the offensive and defensive play calling.

On offense we had Grizzard and his totally-predictable game strategy, which functioned very well in setting up Baker for failure when continuously faced with 3rd and long with the opposing defense knowing exactly what was coming next. If we were able to get ahead, Grizzard would go conservative, allowing the opponent the opportunity to catch up.

On defense, Bowles was his conservative self, with soft zone coverages that helped opponents get to the red zone way too often. This resulted in our defense spending excessive time on the field, getting worn out for the final frame.

To me, that’s it in a nutshell: Injuries and lack of depth combined with conservative coaching strategies.

I’ll stand back here and invite Rod, David and associates voice in to correct me and blame our poor season on Baker’s “lack of execution”, but when they do, I’d ask them to name the QBs that would have been able to take this team into a playoff run under the same conditions that Baker dealt with.

Yeah, I do frequently defend Baker. He’s got his strengths and his weaknesses, but a great QB overall. The fact is that I’d defend just about any QB in dealing with the debacle that became the 2025-26 Buccaneer season.

  294. JohnQCitizen Says:

But Tod, you seem to have experience in the boi community. Ha!

  295. Bartow Buc Says:

Well, I’m going to make a statement in support of Baker. In my opinion the stats support him being a well above average quarterback.
Over 12,000 yards passing in the last three seasons. With 2024 being a MVP candidate season.
Very close to 100 touchdown passes.
Close to 900 yards rushing and 5 rushing TDs.
Baker is not our problem. Baker needs a new OC and possibly a head coach.
We don’t have any control over what the Glazers do. If they choose to keep Todd Bowles what we really should do is support that decision and hope he makes the adjustments it takes to bring back winning football in.
    Tampa.
I really have a gut feeling Todd will be replaced but if not, all the negativity should settle down. After all we are all Bucs fans who want to see our team winning again.
    Go Bucs 2026!!

  296. Gipper Says:

    Munch,

The blocking was so impressive that Bucky Irving averaged 3.5 yards per carry. Everyone here except a few nitwit allies like Bee, WarrenBrooksLoser, Mel Jr. knows your tiresome game. By the way you have allied yourself with a few who are barely literate but that also fits with your incessant, repetitive and boring insights. We all expect that Baker with a healthy O line that can protect him the way Goff, Stafford and others are protected, will have a sensational 2026 much like 2024. The best part of that will be when it happens next year, you will pout and disappear much like you did in the first half of the 2025 season. We were all happier when you were at home doing whatever it is you do with the poster of Tom Brady with his shirt off.

    ———–

Grizz’s scheme was literally Coen’s scheme – they’re the same exact scheme and playbook (allegedly).

Also, no, Brady would not be a good fit for this offense since it requires the QB to be a bit more mobile. At the same thing, though, the ghost of Tom Brady’s future could have one one of those four games in a row that Baker lost that cost the Bucs the playoffs.

  305. Rod Munch Says:

    — Have you ever dressed up like Graham Barton and then paid someone to play the role of Baker Mayfield and take snaps direction from under center?

If NO, continue. If YES, you’re a Baker Boi.

    — Did you think Baker Mayfield is the best actor in America?

If NO, continue. If YES, you’re a Baker Boi.

    — Have you ever had a restraining order placed on you by Baker Mayfield or any of his family because you kept going through their trash?

If NO, continue. If YES, you’re a Baker Boi.

  306. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    Former college offensive lineman here.

    Our O-Line was bad.

    Barton regressed.

When Mauch and the Bredsen got hurt our interior blocking was atrocious.

Goedeke’s foot placed him on the IR.

Wirfs was a Pro Bowler in name only this year after coming back from surgery.

Other than that, our Oline was great 👍

  307. BucsFan81 Says:

Guess we can start talking draft since Bowles will be the coach next year. I don’t really think it matters what defensive players they draft cause Bowles scheme is garbage. They can’t play zone and then he has edge rushers running 40 yards down field like they are Cornerbacks.

  308. BUCDADDY Says:

I don’t know. I’ve had a chance to let my anger and rage subside, and I feel that at least, Grizzard has got to go. Bowles leaving will be bittersweet for me, probably because I’m a nice guy. And like I said a couple weeks ago, as much as Bowles failed the players, the players failed him at times. In the Dolphins game, the players were in a great position to make multiple plays. That TD pass to Dolcich wouldn’t have happened against players that actually had any heart. There were 2 guys in the area, and they just watched the ball fly right by them. Also, the running lanes were getting filled, but no one could make tackles. So, as said before, there was lot of blame to be passed around on this team. The defense looked atrocious, but hasn’t really been great in years. But the offense being so vanilla and boring was unacceptable based on the way it performed last year.

  309. #1bucsfan Says:

It’s funny to hear you so called fans cry and bellyache. I’m not watching the Bucs if he’s our coach. Haha by Felica. I’m watching if he’s here or not cause that’s what a real fan does. Supports their team. It really shows none of yall watched thru the lost decade. Let’s go bucs

  312. BUCDADDY Says:

Holy sh!t, Rod. I answered yes on all of them. Lol, pretty funny, I must say. But for real, what is your obsession with this dude? He leaves it all on the field every week. That’s more than I can say for most of the players on this team, and yet, he’s the only guy you consistently dog out on this team. He gives us an identity and a chip on our shoulders, something hardly any of these boring, candy @ss players ever do. He brings an energy on the field, and he’s far from the worst player on the team.

McCollum would be my pick by far as the worst player on this team. He got ragdolled on a weekly basis by offenses. Not sure you ever bring him up though. Maybe you secretly answered yes on all of them.

  313. Told You Says:

#1BucsFan, so you’re saying that people who are passionate because they want their team to not settle for mediocrity are not true fans? I’m not sure I follow that logic. Passionate fans want their team to be the best they can be also, that does not mean they won’t watch their team. But being quiet and settling for mediocrity does not make you a true fan. Same to the people making the points about the years the Bucs were bad. I’ve been a fan since 1983. And no, that’s not the year I was born. A true fan since 1983. However, I don’t buy the argument that I should be thankful that we went 8-9 compared to the bad years. After two Super Bowls, and us seeing Tom Brady, and what he expected of the team, I think we should expect greatness. And most people on here are only criticizing Todd Bowles. They truly love our players, and just want the best out of the talent that we’ve had.

Not sure anyone should be on their high horse this close to being knocked out of the playoffs, saying people are not true fans.

  314. Captain Dan Says:

Telling people what to do with their spare time and entertainment money is a weird take.

I used to love McDonald’s, but there products quality has greatly diminished and I choose not to invest my time and money in their product anymore.

At the end of the day, if it involves money and time, it’s business. Time is money and wasting time is wasting money. Somebody really smart said that a long time ago.

If you know that the Quarter Pounder isn’t a quarter pounder anymore as it has shrunk considerably and that the Chili’s QP Burger is actually bigger than a quarter of a pound and costs the same as the Quarter Pounder meal at McDonald’s, then why waste your money and time on an inferior product at McDonald’s?

I’ll be going to concerts and Lightning games instead of Bucs games. Doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of the Bucs, just that I don’t want to waste my time and money on an inferior product.

  320. Gipper Says:

Most of these “defenders” are not capable of starting for Rams, Eagles, Detroit even the Browns. Vita Vea and maybe Kancey when healthy could play for a top team. Spare me “yeah but,but,but…..Jamel Dean is a great CB.” No he is not and next season we will see who is dumb enough to give him a big FA deal. In view of the egregious lack of defensive talent, sort of feel bad for Bowles but his schemes are totally inept and clearly nonfunctional.

  321. Matt Says:

Baker definitely help us lose close games down the stretch

    ———-

I don’t have an issue with Baker, he is what he is, a very inconsistent QB who can play at a really high level at times, or he can go into a slump for 2 months and get everyone fired. I said last offseason they should bring him back, and this year while I mocked the idiots chanting MVP in week 6 (as I pointed out, how often does it work out to spike the ball because you crossed the 38 yard line) – I also said during his extended slump that I still believed he’s snap out of it in time to save the season and for the Bucs to make the playoffs – and if the Bucs make the playoffs, the only chance they have is if Baker gets hot.

No, my issue is with the Baker Bois – who literally do nonsense like compare Baker to Payton Manning, and claim he’s better than Mahomes or Allen or anyone else. Also Baker has no faults — and every time he fails its never his fault, it’s always someone else… or the old standby, ‘he’s injured’.

Those are the ones I mock, because they’re ridiculous and deserve to be mocked. But, to be clear, I also enjoy it.

I’m sorry Todd, we wanted you gone before your press conference. But the press conference with you happened. We were hoping to hear on how things will be different from next season, we were hoping to hear some specifics of where either the coaching wasn’t up to par or the execution to give us hope that lessons were learned. But you have dismissed our displeasure with you and your staff. Of course some of us will root for this team no matter what. But this lack of accountability and no promise of a creative vision for the future means we don’t have to be passionate about this team anymore. You have been a head coach for 8 seasons. Your body of work has been average. Your only playoff win came against an injured team lacking morale that was in a collapse, a free fall just like our Bucs this season. Your great accomplishments were as a DC and everywhere you have gone the defense progressively got worse despite players gaining more knowledge of your system. Your highest paid players look like bums now. Your team plays with a body language of not wanting to commit a mistake instead of playing aggressive to force a play, and the mistakes happen in bunches. We would like to be done with you.

He is a nice guy and I like him but that’s not a reason he should keep his job. His defense has been terrible the last couple of years. He never has been highly successful anywhere as a head coach. We already let Liam Cohen and Dave Canales go and instead we still have this guy. We could’ve went after Flores if we wanted a proven defensive mind. I think we would be a very desirable place to be so we could probably get our pick on a coach. I just don’t understand why he is still here. Ridiculous.

  354. BUC IT Says:

And for the record this is the first time I have wanted him fired. But he needs to go

Winning a division title in this division is like getting a toy in a happy meal

    [ROTFLMAO!!! — Joe]

  356. Tony Says:

Yea 3 division titles despite his AWFUL defense. Brady limped across the finish line for the 1st one with some late game magic in a few regular season games. Canals head coach of the playoffs bound Carolina Panthers helped with the 2nd title. Good enough to help himself to a head coaching job. Coen head cosch of the PLAYOFF BOUND Jacksonville Jaguars helped with the 3rd running the offense to one of best in the league. Both head coaches are playoff bound, meanwhile bowels is packing up for the off-season because he didn’t have a OC to bail him out this year. Look at how the team responded after his press conference rant. Proceeded to come out flat with no motivation yet again lose to the Panthers and the lowly Dolphins. Looking at a last place finish if they keep Bowels around. Smh wake up

  357. Rod Munch Says:

You guys saying winning 3 division championships in this division while being around .500 and isn’t an accomplishment… you realize that also applies to Baker, correct? You could say it’s pretty middling results.

  358. HC Grover Says:

Fire Bowzo, Hire Gruden, clean out the Barn.

  359. Southern BucLife Says:

Coach Bowles is correct about the ” TRUE FAN “. The FAKE FANS on here don’t want excellence or forgiveness ; THEY WANT BLOOD. !!! THEY WANT DESTRUCTION, THEY WANT TO BLOW THE TEAM UP !.. This is pathological. Wanting the worse for a person or for an organization is very common on here !!!!! PROJECTION : A common psychological condition in that a person projects feelings of inner hatred or disgust they have for themselves, onto an person or thing in order to temporary feel better about themselves……Coach Bowles is STILL THE COACH…….and you continue to hate yourselves in the process………SEEK HELP. !!!!

  360. Joe in Michigan Says:

Bowles thinks he EARNED something and DESERVES to keep his job…He’s delusional.

  361. J Says:

So if all the other teams go 0-17 and I go 1-16 and win the division, that makes me an awesome coach lol. Wow. I’ll ask my boss if I can work the same way and still keep my job.

  362. ATLBUC Says:

At least I won’t have to pay for NFL Sunday ticket next year.

  363. ATLBUC Says:

Why do people want Gruden to coach this team. All he ever did was win with Dungy’s team

  364. UGotRobbed Says:

    Wow! Unbelievable!
    Go Jags!
    Is there a JoeJagsfan site!?
