“There’s Not Any Part Of The Field He Can’t Attack”

January 30th, 2026

Bragged on by new OC.

It’s pretty clear listening to new Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson and hearing Baker Mayfield on Rondé Barber’s WFLA.com streaming show, both Robinson and Mayfield have a mutual admiration for each other.

Robinson made it clear Tuesday that Mayfield was a magnet that drew him to the Bucs. So Robinson was asked what it was about Mayfield that he likes so much.

“Baker was the No. 1 pick in the draft for a reason,” Robinson said. “In terms of the arm, there’s not a part of the field that he can’t attack.

“You start there and then you get to the instincts and the feel for the game. The movement part is huge. You have to be able to move at this day and age in the NFL.

“His ability to throw on the run – he’s probably the best in the league at throwing on the run. He’s great in the keeper game, great in the boot game.”

Joe has seen stats that show Mayfield is one of the best quarterbacks in the game when moving outside the pocket. So yeah, why not use his strength?

Robinson said that is what he plans to do.

“[I am] looking to evolve that part and making sure that we’re playing to Baker’s strengths and the rest of the guys’ strengths,” Robinson said. “That’s a huge part.”

Even though it seems Mayfield getting out of the pocket won some games early, it cost Mayfield and the Bucs dearly down the stretch. But for a few series here or there, ever since the win at New Orleans, Mayfield wasn’t close to the same player he was in the first six or seven games.

But it doesn’t appear Robinson wants to limit Mayfield.

“The third-down conversions, those are tough downs, and when you have a quarterback that can obviously extend those plays and pick up first downs with his legs, that’s huge,” Robinson said.

Joe hopes Robinson can find a happy medium. A damaged Mayfield is no good for anyone, least of which is Mayfield and his pending (?) new contract for the 2027 season.

As former Bucs Super Bowl champion coach Bucco Bruce Arians likes to say, “Put a quarterback in harm’s way, harm will find him.”

  1. Truth be Told Says:

So yes, the more time goes on the more sense this OC hire looks like a good move. But if we still have Todd and his Putrid Pass Defense our only hope is to load this team up with Edge Rushers and LB’s that can cover and help our Putrid Pass Defense.

  2. Ash Says:

They are gonna need to spend a lot of money on that defense they are way more than a draft away from fixing that dl and linebackers possibly corner cuz zion looked bad and dean is a free agent.

  3. Allen Lofton Says:

How do you calm a lightning ROD. Turn off the switch, but Baker Mayfield can’t just turn it off. His DNA is wired differently. The difference between winning it all is controlling that switch. Last year ended in a 7 game losing streak. Mayfield was injured and didn’t play anywhere near his capability because he couldn’t controll that switch.

Will 2026 be any different. He needs a strong leader to help him turn the switch on or off. Is Robinson that leader. Hopefully.

I believe he lost confidence in GRIZZARD.Put everything on his shoulders and lost the battle by putting everything on his back. We all saw the results of that mentality. Robinson needs to guide him. It takes a collective effort by everyone to win championships. Unfortunately it didn’t happen because Mayfield didn’t control that switch. Robinson has his job cut out for him.

It’s not just about the X’s and 0’s. It takes a complete team effort and Mayfield’s reckless play and disregard for his body has doomed the team.

Tom Brady understood this and won more championships than anyone. LIVE TO PLAY ANOTHER DOWN

  4. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘A damaged Mayfield is no good for anyone’.

For sure Joe. And THAT’S why Bucs desperately need to sign a quality veteran backup QB who could manage the offense and win us a reasonable percentage of games IF Baker goes down. No more allowing him to play hurt & then we lose most of our games.

  5. HC Grover Says:

Finding a paying job drew him. He was not in demand. With Bowzo as HC and Boss Bucs are scraping the bottom of the NFL Barrel.

  6. Marine Buc Says:

    Meh…

We all know by now that Baker struggles with accuracy on the deep throws.

Without Mike Evans he will struggle even more…

This is one of the reasons he has been on 4 different teams.

  7. HC Grover Says:

Bucs one injury to Bakefield away from utter disaster.

  8. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Sounds good when we aren’t playing games.

Those passing charts Joe shared says otherwise.

Also, consistency, accuracy, y’know actual football intangibles that have 0 to do with Fire, moxie and yada yada yada

  9. Kenton Smith Says:

Allen Lofton. You said they ended the season on a 7 game losing streak. We beat Carolina to close the season out. Which at least gave some of us some hope. A playoff team that had the Rams beat until the final minute of the wild card round. A solid Rams team. In a stinking mess of a rain storm. And we overcame a Mayfield pick. That’s the last memory we have of our 2025 season. If we’d have quit fighting until the end would have been one thing. But we didn’t, so it’s another thing. And that something matters.

  12. View from 132 Says:

I feel bad for anyone trying to be excited about next year. Baker is what he is. Bowles is what he is. Any potential stars on the team are just waiting for a next QB and coach.

  13. HC Grover Says:

What a band of Misfits this staff is. All run by Todd Bowzo. A Chinese fire drill defense. This all starts with the Manchester Cheapskates Glazers. Here come the Manchester Buccaneers.

  14. 813bucboi Says:

and we looked so great in the playoffs….oh wait

    GO BUCS!!!!

  15. Fanofdabucs Says:

All this offense chatter is great for teams that already have the defensive side of the ball figured out.

The problem with this team is Bowles, his scheme and when you dont have an offense that can consistently put up 30 plus, it becomes 8-9.

Until I hear Bowles is fired or they’ve hired an outside DC, I will have zero excitement.

Baker is a good QB, but not great. His performance in primetime games and inconsistency and getting overhyped holds him back from bring a top 10 QB on a consistent basis.

So excuse me if im not buying what the Glazers are selling with all this offense chatter.

  16. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Baker back to the pro bowl next year ,, keep him upright and give him time ,, a big season for the Offense upcoming but the problem is on Defense ,, we haven’t hired a DC yet ,, Bowles schemes are outdated ,, Let Bowles manage the team and have him stay out of the way !
We all have differences of opinion on Baker and the offense but don’t we all agree Bowles should not be running the D and needs to hire a DC?

  17. jimmy Says:

what is he going to say “yea that baker, off to the the glue factory soon, his short game is great but that long ball, stinky!!!”

  18. Kenton Smith Says:

Hey Joe. A damaged Mayfield is no good to anyone. Defense Rules agrees. Mahomes, Lamar, and Goff are no good to anyone either. They are middling QBs who suck. Mayfield was top 10 and top 7 in total yards and touchdown passes this season. Yet he’s no good to anyone? You guys are full of it. Our offense was the walking wounded. Mayfield is one of the best QBs in the league. In fact, he’s been the best QB in the league the past 3 years. Mayfield will continue doing what he’s always done. 100%. 100% of the time. Too bad he hasn’t got a team that plays the same way.

  19. What it is Says:

Oh…so now we got us a real OC. One that plays to his qb’s strengths. We’ll let’s get to rocking & rollin with Bakers strengths which Robinson already realizes they are many. Did he say Baker is the best in the league when rolling out? Finally someone that knows what they are talking about. Keep Baker safe and he will take us as far as our team talent will allow him to take us. If we can stay relatively healthy that will be deep into the playoffs.

  20. Not so fast Says:

It’s amazing Jimmy when someone says something enough times the ignorant step in line with it. Bakers long ball ranks in the top 10 just so you know.

  21. What it is Says:

Actually not so fast Bakers long ball accuracy is considered top-tier in the league. So all you folks talking about BM6 long ball being bad are just lemmings waiting for someone, anyone to tell you what to think.

  22. JD Still Says:

Mayfield is getting older and each year the injuries mount up , he runs less and his passing suffers , and yes, his passes can reach any part of the field but much too often they have been reaching parts of the field occupied by the defense in critical situations.

  23. Kenton Smith Says:

The only bad game I’ve ever seen Mayfield play in prime time was the Rams game this year. The game the defense gave up 34 points in the first half. Shoulder socket half knocked out. 65 yard hail mary picked at the half and Otten giving away the only pick 6 I’ve ever seen Baker throw. And he threw a TD pass to a 7th round rookie. We lost the game because of Baker throwing 2 picks. Tampa fans have to realize that before Baker got here Tampa was known for 2 things in 50 years of football. A great defense at the turn of the century. And Tom Brady. And you fans gonna kiss Brady’s a$$ for leaving this franchise in a mess. And blame Baker for it. Hope Mayfield gets out of town. I don’t care what anyone says players and coaches know Baker is a winner. Luckily, I don’t think they’ll be able to afford to keep him.

  24. What it is Says:

Not to mention he can throw it over 70 yards. Like the 66 yard Seattle throw to Meka. 66 yards in stride. On top of that he has the record, the all time record for the longest throw in a game. Out of the thousands of quarterbacks that have played thousands of games Baker Mayfield has THE record for longest heave. Longer than Brady, longer than Mahomes, longer than Favre, longer than ALL of them.So just stop it already.

  27. MelvinJunior Says:

So, the EAGLES signed The Grizz Wizz!?

  28. Not so fast Says:

JD, yes Baker throws interceptions. You do realize all quarterbacks throw interceptions, right? You few act like he’s the only one that throws them. Do you think Robinson would come here knowing he’s getting a bum quarterback? Do you really? Robinson saw what happened to Coen. He wants the “coach maker” to do that for him. He knows BM6 will do that for him. He knows Bakers talents and he knows Baker will improve his career. That is why he is coming here

  29. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Allen Lofton Says: “I believe he lost confidence in GRIZZARD.Put everything on his shoulders and lost the battle by putting everything on his back.”

On his back!? Yeah, I did not see it that way, at ALL. I saw the exact opposite, actually. I saw Grizzard AND Bowles BOTH, losing confidence in BAKER. That was obvious just due to the play-calling alone. I mean, you’ve got ALL-4 WR’s back and healthy, but you go to a total ‘ground and pound’ run-dominate game-plan.they obviously did NOT trust Baker.

  30. Let em Bake Says:

An OC that will roll out Baker. Thank you.

  31. MelvinJunior Says:

Baker is the best quarterback in the league.

  32. RondeBarberTime Says:

We’ve seen the best of Baker in 2024. And that was a great season for him.

But in the end it only netted 10 regular season wins and zero playoff wins.

Now, having the added burden of Toad Bowels defense to overcome is too big a mountain for any QB to climb.

Overall he’s 28-26, including 1-2 in the playoffs as the QB1 in Tampa.

That’s not elite by any means. Results actually do matter.

  33. Confido75 Says:

I’m not worried about the O, even if ME13 decides to leave. Right now, I’m tired of Bowles trying to fit square pegs into round holes to make his defensive scheme work and not making the staff and game adjustments to correct it. How insecure are we that we won’t hire a DC to run the D and maybe, just maybe, do something different. The O can score 30+ points a game, but it won’t matter if this D continues to be swiss cheese for backup QBs. People wonder why we don’t like Bowles, its because he can’t get out of his own way. Nice guy and all, but being a nice guy doesn’t win games. If you want to be a DC, go be a DC, but your are the HC, so act like it and delegate responsibilty to people that can get the job done. That’s what good leaders do. If you can’t trust your people, then you are not ready to lead.

  34. Lakeland Says:

    Blah, blah, blah

    There were signs

  36. Stpetematt Says:

Baker wasn’t legitimately hurt for more than a game or two last year. Our loss of our starting guards killed this team. I’ve said it several times and it’s still true. Better o-line backups and we can go a long way. That and draft all front 7 players.

  48. Not so fast Says:

It is hilarious that you Baker haters used to argue and argue that Baker couldn’t run the ball. Then for 2 seasons he LED the league in converting 3rd downs and most yardage on 3rd downs. Just like you all are saying bs about him now. You either don’t know what you are talking about and have zero self awareness or…😁 Normal people would just shut up from being embarrassed after someone they had been yapping about proved them wrong over and over again. But I guess you aren’t normal huh???

  49. Not so fast Says:

    BAKER MAYFIELD HAS THE MAGIC!!!

  50. Tom Petty Says:

Bakers the QB – end of story.

He’s not without fault but he’s our guy.
At his best his awesome…. At his worst he’s part of the problem.

I honestly think Baker’s biggest “issue” is mental when he struggles. He needs to play with confidence (in himself AND the scheme) in order to play his best and I don’t think he felt that most of this past season.

Zac’s, hopefully, going to get Baker back on track. After all the talk I’m starting to think Zac is the absolute best option we had and the best guy to get Baker and the offense respectable again 🤞🏼

  51. MelvinJunior Says:

@ O’neilbuc Says: “he’s more of a bridge quarterback not a franchise quarterback.”

I agree. I mean, that’s really what he is right now. He’s a starter in the league, no doubt. He’s good enough. But, I’d be pretty shocked if I saw another team view HIM as being anything more than that, at this point. I just cannot see anyone having complete total confidence in him longterm. Not enough to offer him a 4 or 5-year deal towards the top end of the market.

Actually, I am OUT on handing ANY QB ‘top of the market’ money, UNLESS, you know 💯 he’s the perfect fit with the right head coach, & etc. Outside of only a ‘handful’ of guys, I would NOT go ‘all-in’ on some huge bidding war. I’m stacking my ROSTER FIRST, before I go ‘big-game’ hunting for a QB. Especially, when it comes to drafting one on a ‘rookie’ deal. In the right system with the right HC and GM, you can find a competent enough “Bridge-QB” to plug and play… Until, you find “THE GUY.” I think that’s ‘the way’ to go for longterm sustained success. Don’t throw away and WASTE the $$$$$ (blowing up your cap) for just mediocre. Build the ROSTER FIRST.

  53. Kenton Smith Says:

74 Bucs Fan. “Ummm- yeah.” I’m still laughing, thanks.

  54. MelvinJunior Says:

@ Not so fast – I never heard ANYONE complain about Baker’s “running ability.” Probably, because HE was never considered a “RUNNING-QB.” No one has ever cared about HIS “running” ability. So, you just made that up. I guess maybe, ONE person mentioned something about it 3-4 YEARS AGO, and it forever buried deep inside of YOU. A few people said (the obvious truth) that Lamar Jackson IS a “better quarterback” than Baker, and then cited HIS running ability versus Baker’s. So, YOU took offense, and it must’ve hurt your feelings. Ohhhhh, poor widdle Bake… I just wuvvvvs himssss sooooo MUCH.

But, talking about “self-awareness.” PLEASE. Baker is the one, who hasn’t ANY. And, that is a huuuuge reason for why HE is in the situation HE IS IN NOW. That’s all on HIM. It’s why SO MANY GM’s, FO’s, HC’s, and Owners have taken a pass. They don’t believe they can ‘win’ WITH HIM consistently, and at a high enough level. Or, would just rather NOT deal with the all of the ‘noise’ and other BS that comes along with having Baker as THEIR Franchise-QB.

  55. Defense Rules Says:

JD Still … ‘Mayfield is getting older and each year the injuries mount up , he runs less and his passing suffers’.

Baker’s still young (30), and he only knows 1 way to play: balls to the wall. Take that away from him and I’m not sure I’d even want him as a backup. He is who he is. In the immortal words of Popeye the Sailor … “I yam what I yam and that’s all that I yam”.

Baker’s been very consistent with his running in the 51 games he’s played as a Buc.

    o 2023: 62 runs – 163 yds – 2.6 YPC – 1 TD – 16 1st downs
    o 2024: 60 runs – 378 yds – 6.3 YPC – 3 TD – 24 1st downs
    o 2025: 58 runs – 382 yds – 6.6 YPC – 1 TD – 27 1st downs

His rushing attempts decreased a tad, but his YPC improved each year, as did the number of 1st downs that he got via rushing.

Just as an aside, Baker ranks 11th in rushing attempts by a QB over the past 2 years (combined), 9th in rushing yardage, but he ranks 2nd in YPC average. He’s tied for 16th in TDs over those 2 years by a QB (with 4) … Josh Allen leads with 26 TDs over those same 2 years. Guessing that there are a LOT of NFL QBs who take an even bigger pounding than Baker does, and it’s proven costly.

It looks like only FIVE NFL QBs have started all 34 games these past 2 seasons: Allen, Darnold, Nix, Williams & Mayfield. The first 4 did very very well in terms of team W-L records.

  56. Red86 Says:

“In terms of the arm, there’s not a part of the field that he can’t attack.“

Yeah that wide open Cade Otten in the end zone to win the game say otherwise. That one play would’ve had us in the wildcard round.

  57. Wyoming Joe Says:

    O’NeilBuc: You ain’t it bro… What a joke.

  58. Rod Munch Says:

It’s a good answer, much better than what I heard from Grizz last year where he proclaimed they’re going to take more shots downfield — and the Bucs did — and Baker was awful at it for the most part.

However, what Coen did, was let Baker cook in the quick passing game while ALSO giving Baker the chance to extend plays when needed – and that’s where he excelled. I have no idea why they went away from that last season, removed all the motion, all the misdirection, all the stuff that was working.

Anywho, for a first impression, Zac gets my approval.

Yeah that wide open Cade Otten in the end zone to win the game say otherwise. That one play would’ve had us in the wildcard round.

    ———-

Well Baker does have the arm – but he’s also really inaccurate once you get about 15-yards down the field.

Coen figured that out pretty quickly, and went to that quick short passing game, and that’s when Baker had success. With as bad of a deep ball thrower that he is – he normally has very good accuracy in the short game, and even on the move as noted.

I never understand why people think that’s a dig – it’s reality. You don’t put Tom Brady in an option offense, and you don’t put Baker in a deep ball offense – use guys in ways that best utilize their talents. And I think that is what Zac was saying – while also saying he has to watch film. And my I suggestion – don’t watch the 2025 film, just watch 2024 – and not for Baker, but the scheme and what worked, which was motion and misdirection.

  60. Winny Testaverde Says:

This combo could work…Robinson was a QB and had a couple of cups of coffee in the NFL. Coen was a former QB and had a good feel ( obviously ) for things. Grizzard was/is an Ivy League teacher assistant type…and was pretty unlucky with injuries etc. I see the Eagles signed The Grizz to passing game cordinator. Itneeds to be repeated early and often that the Bucs went to Seattle and matched them score for score for the win. Then subsequently fell apart like Hot Rod Mulch’s Pontiac Fiero ( which is still parked on blocks at his parent’s house last we heard ).

  61. Rod Munch Says:

    Defense Rules Says:
Baker’s been very consistent with his running in the 51 games he’s played as a Buc.

    o 2023: 62 runs – 163 yds – 2.6 YPC – 1 TD – 16 1st downs
    o 2024: 60 runs – 378 yds – 6.3 YPC – 3 TD – 24 1st downs

His rushing attempts decreased a tad, but his YPC improved each year, as did the number of 1st downs that he got via rushing.

    ———–

Keep in mind though that this season Baker was running at times because he had lost confidence. Late in the season, he’d have guys down the field that were option, and Baker would hesitate and hesitate and then just scramble instead of taking a shot like he did in 2024.

I’m not even bashing Baker, just pointing out what I was seeing. Those were balls he’d throw early in the year, but late in the year, he knew he was playing awful – throwing a lot of bad picks – and clearly had little confidence in making throws and just bailed on plays. That’s in part why his rushing decline doesn’t seem as bad as it was.

While people will just say, ‘he’s injured’ — when the Bucs signed him in 2023, I watched his tape from 2022, and I saw the same exact thing. Well, mostly the same thing, with the Panthers he actually just dumped off the ball more. But on tape you saw guys running wide open deep, Baker would hesitate to throw the ball, then just dump it off for no gain or scramble for like 4 yards on 3rd and 12.

In any case, I think Baker’s mobility should be more about throwing on the run and moving in the pocket, not scrambling unless it’s needed, and he should really look to get down or out of bounds, since if the issue for his horrid play in the 2nd half of the year was injury — well, he has a long history of ‘getting injured’ over and over again.

  62. Rod Munch Says:

Winny Testaverde – you have any idea what a Fiero GT cost now? Those things have skyrocketed, in particular if you get the lambo body kit on them.

  63. Marky mark Says:

Of course the new OC will praise his guaranteed contract QB..Now there are lots of detractors but nfl.com has Baker ranked 10th for 2025. Not bad for what was a sub par season for Baker. This is a team game and all facets fell of the cliff after the bye.. Zac should spend all off season training Baker to slide or get out of bounce.

  64. Gipper Says:

    KentonSmith,

When Baker heads out to the Rams at the end of 2026 season, can hear Munch and his girlfriends now; “ I was Baker’s biggest fan. Licht should have paid up.”

Hope OneillBuc and MelivinJr get Shedeur Sanders in 2027.

They’re out of my price range/chick getting league. So you’re just waiting for the Lambo kit until you’re back in business? Nice!

  66. Kenton Smith Says:

DR. So only 5 QBs have started 34 games the last two seasons? Williams and Nix were 2 of them? So no more than 3 QBs have started 51 games the last 3 years is what you’re saying. I’ll bet it’s only 1 or 2 QBs have started 51 games the last 3 years. He’s the most durable QB in the league. Hands down. He may or may not play injured but he doesn’t play when he’s too injured to play. Except in Cleveland with a torn labrum and fractured shoulder. When we lose DR you’re one of the first to say it’s on Baker. NFL teams lose 16 times every week during the season. And it’s not because the QB is hurt. It’s because the team doesn’t play well enough to win. When first and ten becomes first and 15 ( Goedecke offsides) then we run up the middle for 2 (2nd and 13) then we throw a 3 yard screen to make it 3rd and 10 then Barton holds. Now it’s 3rd and 20. Then the opponents DL pins their ears back and they are in Baker’s lap in a second and a half. I don’t need to know where our offense ranked in working behind the chains this year. It was putrid. Frame it however you see fit DR, but Baker being injured this year didn’t cost us a single game. Not one single game. QB who led the league in picks this year is in the Super Bowl. Last year the Super Bowl winner (Philly) was carved up and trounced by Baker. This year the Super Bowl favorite was carved up and beaten by Baker. Sure DR, Baker is the problem.

  67. exBrowns02 Says:

Well, ZR said exactly what we all should’ve wanted him to say.

“[I am] looking to evolve that part and making sure that we’re playing to Baker’s strengths and the rest of the guys’ strengths,” Robinson said. “That’s a huge part.”

You want to win with Baker — or any QB for that matter — you design an offense around his strengths. That should be an OC’s primary goal.

Grizzard was a freshman who proved that he wasn’t currently qualified to run a championship offense. Robinson is an upper classman who has weathered the storm and knows what he needs to do to win.

To the non-bake crew: this is going to be fun season — at least offensively — with a climb back into contention. At least we know that if the offense really gets back on track, if the defense can’t make stops it will expose Todd and we won’t be having the same conversation about replacing him next year because it’s his “prove it” year.

  68. Defense Rules Says:

Kenton Smith … ‘Frame it however you see fit DR, but Baker being injured this year didn’t cost us a single game. Not one single game. Go back and read what I’ve written about Baker in the past Kenton, and you’ll see that I’m not anti-Baker at all; quite the opposite. With a solid team around him, he’s as good as we’re gonna get.

What I DON’T LIKE about Baker is that he inissts on playing when he hurt too badly to be effective, and THAT hurts the team. And yes, it DID cost us several wins IMO. None of us know however how badly he hurt at various times in this past season. But it’s easy to look at PERFORMANCE and come to the conclusion that quality starting QBs should do better than he did in various games. For instance:

o We lost against the Rams 34-7, but that was because the Rams were definitely the better team. Baker went 9-for-19 in that game, for 41 passing yards, 1 TD & 2 INTs (Teddy finished the game starting in the 2nd half). No the loss wasn’t Baker’s fault, but stats like that don’t spell All-Pro either.

o We lost to the Saints 24-20, and no they weren’t the better team. Baker went 14-for-30 for 122 yards, 1 TD & 1 INT. That INT BTW came in the 3rd qtr & the Saints scored a TD 3 plays later. Hmmm, 7 pts when you lose by 4.

o We lost to the Panthers 23-20, partially due to our defense but also partially due to Baker. Trailing 23-20 with 49 secs left and Bucs at the Carolina 42 yd line, Baker threw an INT that closed out any chance of us winning that ballgame. He’d actually had a decent game before that, going 18-of-26 for 145 yds passing, 1 TD & 1 INT. Nothing to write home to mama about, but our running game was working that game & we could’ve won.

  69. Oneilbuc Says:

DR. Good job bro for breaking it down like that.

  70. Oneilbuc Says:

Gipper & Kenton. You guys will be on the Rams site saying the same thing it’s every body else fault but Baker. He was injured Mcvea ain’t a good coach the defense suck the line ain’t good he don’t have a running game lol and he will be on his 5th team and it still wouldn’t be his fault. Oh yeah and everyone hates Baker Mayfield even though we don’t know him personally to hate him lol 🤣🤣.

  71. Defense Rules Says:

Rod Munch … ‘In any case, I think Baker’s mobility should be more about throwing on the run and moving in the pocket, not scrambling unless it’s needed’.

EXCELLENT points Rod, and I for one feel pretty sure that’s exactly the way Zac Robinson will use him based on some of the things that he’s already said.

  72. WisconsinBucsFan Says:

he rarely attacked endzone in last 10 games…..average qb

  73. Gipper Says:

    Oneilbuc,

Like most things you post here: Whaaaaat? You have mastered the run on sentence with 5 predicates. Hope Shedeur Sanders solves your problem.

  74. Hydra Says:

What are us Baker fans drinking the koolaid yet again, wake up mudderfugbers don’t get fooled again!! Oh well pour me another shot

  75. What it is Says:

On Bakers injurie(s) Arians, who knows, said “the injuries mattered”. Nothing else needs to be said. The injuries hurt Bakers play, case closed, unless Arians doesn’t know what is going on with the team and I’m quite certain that’s not the case.

  76. What it is Says:

As usual Munch will say something totally false-“Baker is really inaccurate once you get 15 yards” Bakers deep ball is considered top tier for his accuracy and THE best for strength, 75 yards strong. It never ends. You people can go and go with the bs.

  77. Not so fast Says:

Melvin you are losing it. Or is it selective memory out of convenience. You boys said numerous times he was slow and couldn’t hit the hole. Talk about sticking in your craw. What was it Arians said? Baker has the magic, that really is all that matters. As someone said earlier, you have a HC who won a superbowl saying our quarterback has the magic but you experts think you know more than THAT GUY. You would think you know more, you would because you all have coached in the NFL haven’t you?? You all put a team together and won a superbowl haven’t you. Talk about zero self-awareness issues.

  78. What it is Says:

This is how dumb you cry babies are. If you had any real knowledge about football and what it takes to be successful in this league you would know that by Baker having 11 OC in 9 seasons and 8 HC in his first 6 years creates instability and hinders any qb in his professional career. No other qb has ever had to overcome what Mayfield has had to overcome. He has had only 1 HC with a winning record and it was basically a .500 coach. When he had a good OC he dominated the league and led in all the important qb statistics that leads to wins. But he made him look so good he was quickly taken. And given a $13 million contract. The only thing holding Baker back is good coaching, period. That just takes too much thinking for you boys to handle. Hopefully, ZR will be a good one like Coen. If nothing else get the receivers open at least 50% of the time. And when Baker does dominate again, look out boys your true colors have shown themselves twice now. 🤔

  79. Okiejim Says:

Tunnel vision seems to highly contagious among Baker haters and linkers! Why do they hate Baker, do they really know or are they using it much like those who hold him way to high, they seek attention and want to be relevant! Relevant or not, they are definitely entitled to their opinion! An opinion fostered and embellished by tunnel vision!

  80. Chris 40 yr buc fan Says:

The new oc is gonna lift up the only qb he has on the team, baker ids definitely not the franchise qb he’s the bridge. The other QBs we get this offseason he’ll uplift them too. Baker is average!

  81. Kenton Smith Says:

Chris 40 yr Buc fan. Since the Super Bowl era in the National Football League (1966) began 721 QBs have made their QB debuts in the NFL. Are you beginning to feel me? 4 of those QBs have had a season where they threw for 4500 yards and over 40 touchdowns while completing over 70% of their passes. Under 10 threw for 30000 yards and 200 touchdowns in their first 8 years. Baker was a Heismann winner. He was the first pick in the draft. And Chris. You call that average? Are you kidding me? No, you’re not. You win the dunce cap of the history of JBF. Totally. Not a close second. Talk about an unmitigated disaster of a 40 year fan. Jeez.

    ===================================
    Hey Doofus,
Mayfield is second the last 3 years in NFL QB’s with most TD passes. Pretty sure your dream QB, Shedeur Sanders, will never accomplish this. Anyway, I hope we get a chance to find out when Mayfield bolts to Rams at the end of 2026 season. You are entitled to Shedeur Sanders.

  83. BakerFan Says:

I wish the haters on this site tell me what kind of fanbase would the Bucs have without Baker Mayfield as QB. You idiots would rather lose with someone like Trask and watch the fan base shrink to the winless Bucs teams of the past than watch the pie expand and bring in new fans.

For some reason some morons sit here and brag about being a Bucs Fan and lose year after year, than welcoming new fans because they follow a particular player. I am sure there are fans here that came on the Pirate Ship because of other players not named Mayfield.

The attitudes that exude here are what makes a team perirenal LOSERS. Think about it, without Brady what would you be in the last 2 decades? If I were the Glazers I would fire the fan base, for not showing up to games and for the nitwits on this site. I would move this team to a city that had better support.

  84. Not so fast Says:

Yep Bakers average. His average play got him ranked “number 1” in the league for almost half the season up until he got multiple injuries. Average quarterbacks are ranked #1 all the time. Especially for half the season. In fact, the actual “number 1”, is an average number in and of it self. 10th is actually the best you can possibly be. We have all been brainwashed into thinking if you are #1 you are the best but in reality #1 is very average, according the haters anyway. Give me a break.

  85. Not so fast Says:

BakerFan has it figured out!! They are full of unmitigated hate. No amount of truth or dose of reality will change their little pea sized minds. Meanwhile BM6 marches on as our franchise quarterback. The second best we have ever had. Actually, playoff passer rating wise he is the best we have ever had. EVER

They are gonna need to spend a lot of money on that defense they are way more than a draft away from fixing that dl and linebackers possibly corner cuz zion looked bad and dean is a free agent.
    —————————————————————————————
You could load the defense up with all pro players at every position but if they were playing Bowles’ scheme they would still give up 400 yards passing to backup and rookie quarterbacks.
