Reactions To News Todd Bowles Will Return As Bucs Coach For 2026
January 8th, 2026Joe first launched this here website in the summer of 2008. It would be Chucky’s final season.
While a decent amount of Bucs fans had grown weary of Chucky’s schtick and modest success after winning the franchise’s first Super Bowl, it wasn’t the majority of fans who wanted him replaced.
And the angst certainly wasn’t on the level of the unpopularity of Bucs coach Todd Bowles. Joe has never seen anything like this.
Bowles, as a head coach, has never been popular with fans, but at least the disdain tended to be civil. Joe guesses most of it was residue from Cooper Kupp’s late touchdown when the Bucs lost to the the Rams in the divisional playoff game during the 2021 playoffs, ending the Bucs season. Fans wouldn’t (and won’t) let that go.
The disdain for Bowles is much worse now.
You turn on sports radio and for hours, all one hears non-stop are callers wanting Bowles run. TikTok is full of videos of Bucs fans pleading, asking, screaming for Bowles to be removed.
Social media is rife with anti-Bowles rhetoric.
So given the state of Bucs fans, one can only imagine the eruption at the news yesterday that Bowles will return for the 2026 season.
Joe has never seen this sort of disconnect between Team Glazer and Bucs fans. In the past, Team Glazer has mentioned they’ve made moves partly due to fan sentiment. That sure isn’t the case this week.
Yesterday in the final 2025 season Todd Bowles Confidence Poll, some 93.7 percent of those polled had little or no confidence in Bowles. That is only slightly down from last week.
As always, winning is the greatest perfume.
No Bucs coach since Joe began doing a weekly in-season confidence poll has been that bad.
The outburst of emotions from Bucs fans was predictable. Below are some reactions Joe received from Bucs fans on Twitter. Of all the feedback Joe has received, it seems just one person who appeared to be a Bowles supporter.
Joe would love for Bryan or Joel Glazer to explain to Bucs fans what they see and why they have faith in Bowles that Bucs fans clearly do not share. If anything, such a gesture may calm fans, provide them with some hope. It could even save or create some season ticket sales. Maybe even a luxury suite rental.
But, that is generally not how Team Glazer operates. They are the anti-Jerry Jones. And that’s too bad. Because the shroud of secrecy only reinforces the walls between ownership and fans.
And deep down, fans want to embrace ownership.

Joe, are we sure the report is true? it is just one report from one reporter which has not been backed up by other reports, it has just been virally spread around the blogs. Bowles says he is coming back but I am not convinced until the Glazers and or Licht confirm this.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:07 am
The crybabies will move onto something else in about a week, they always do.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:08 am
Honestly I’m not upset he’s getting another year. Staff needs some changes for sure, but I think Todd is a good coach who just needs some better supporting coaches than the dudes he has.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:09 am
Let’s hope the story is similar to Tom Brady’s first retirement and common sense rears its head.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:09 am
If it was inaccurate, Joe has to believe the Bucs would have fired off some angry missives suggesting no decision has been reached.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:10 am
But Mort, will Bowles actually make changes? Plus it is going to be hard to hire new coordinators and other coaches if they think Bowles is going into 2026 on the hottest of hot seats. It almost seems like the team is planning to tank in 2027 and blow it up for 2027 like the ATL is now doing.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:11 am
typo: tank in 2026 not 2027
January 8th, 2026 at 12:14 am
Are you guys serious when you say you believe in Bowles?????
January 8th, 2026 at 12:14 am
Bowles had a rotten defense that has been declining since the superbowl year. Licht has done him no favors since then. Overrated drafts and poor free agent acquisitions when he bothered to make any at all. He doesn’t have the confidence to go after free agents without the blessing of Tom Brady because he knows he sucks at identifying talent. Licht is so overhyped by the media it’s sickening but Bowles ran the team poorly and his defense was not competent. Consistently watching pass catchers run wide aas open across all three levels of his defense was humiliating to watch as a fan.
Glazers weren’t prepared to can Licht so decided to let them both fight like hell this year to prove they can rebound or else do a full house cleaning next season and this time they will be ready to make moves.
Go Bucs
January 8th, 2026 at 12:22 am
Tanking 2026 or the ‘minority’ issue is the only reasons that makes any sense…
IBS has got to be ‘radioactive’ to any talent as OC and DC the Bucs might hope to attract!
January 8th, 2026 at 12:22 am
Mort, can you let me know what you’re smoking? It’s got to be some amazing stuff.
The take that you’re not a serious fan unless you’re willing to guzzle whatever ownership wants to put in your mouth is retarded. I have no desire to watch the Bucs get embarrassed on a weekly basis. One of the worst historical winning percentage in all of sports and you’re gonna say we aren’t fans? F off
Joes – in the preseason Todd said he had a lightbulb moment about what was wrong with the D. I’d love to know what that was, clearly wasn’t the case.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:24 am
As s fan of the Bucs I’m very disappointed that Bowles will be retained as HC.
I think the Glazers are making a mistake with this decision but this is my favorite team and I’ll stick with them.
Go Bucs.
Maybe next year will be better.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:26 am
i had season tickets for the first 35 yrs so i have sat through the winless yrs. but i still kept going. My dad and i would go home happy after seeing the bucs look good for one drive. That being said, i don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed than right now. Bowles has no future after next year and neither do the bucs. I really hope i’m wrong, but with Bowles, i think not….Sad in Valrico….
January 8th, 2026 at 12:28 am
HooBoy – and you thought “Let’s go Brandon!” was ubiquitous ? Next season, I guarantee that at the first stumble, and at every game thereafter, a chant will break out in the stands – it could have four syllables like the Biden catcall, but may I make a suggestion ? Piggyback on the classic stadium chant “Tam-pa…
BAAAY !!!” – how about “F$&k Todd…BOOOWLES !!!” – who knows ? It may catch on – and you saw it here first – Go Bucs
January 8th, 2026 at 12:42 am
Appreciate Joe much! but I am done with this team for 2026 and up until this coach is fired. He has made so many egregious mistakes all season. I hate seeing him on the sidelines, stoic and losing as usual. He is a losing coach, mediocre at best, Bucs deserve better. Last year it was Liam Coen who got us to the playoffs. Bowles defense is predictable and never works as there is NO PASS RUSH and cushion secondary. EMBARRASSED TO BE A BUC FAN with Bowles as the coach. Bucs deserve a top quality head coach–could of been Liam Coen. Bucs going to be last in the division. Glazers cheap AF!
January 8th, 2026 at 12:42 am
I will support the Bucs and Bowles next year. Not sure why everyone’s got to get so worked up about it. It’s football. It’s a game. 2025 season definitely a downer, but I can’t understand why Bucs fans can’t recognize how good the last 5 years have been in Bucs history with the 5 year playoff run, Super Bowl win with a dominant defense, 3 straight division champions and now 1 losing season w/o playoffs. Bowles had the dominant D during those days because we had a more complete rotation of quality guys.
No more scrap heap. Go get some folks in FA Jason. Hire some great coordinators (3) Todd. Make it happen in the draft.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:44 am
It’s ridiculous that they are keeping Bowles. The entire fan base has no hope for next season and this one isn’t even over yet. I’m not buying tickets not buying any merchandise and I have complete apathy towards this team going forward as long as Bowles is still here.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:44 am
I have absolutely no idea why the Glazers would do this.
With all of the talk about how they always listen to the fans and the pulse of the fanbase, plus saying the fans are their stockholders.
This move makes them look very hypocritical.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:45 am
My husband (moderate NFL fan) said he is no longer watching Bucs games on Sundays. He says we are now Jags fans, so I need to get up to speed with their players. Anyway do they have a Joe Jags Fan?
January 8th, 2026 at 12:46 am
No coach in the history of the NFL has ended the season on a 2-7 run after starting 6-2 in their 4th season and won a Super Bowl with that team. He was a mediocre coach the entire time who barely got by in the absolute worst division in the NFL. The only coach who managed to end up with a losing record with the greatest QB to ever play football for 22 years. You cannot explain this to your fans.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:46 am
I’ll wait until he’s gone….nothing wrong with not pulling for less than mediocrity….3 wins next year when most can see it coming….whats the fun in that. But let the boot lickers call us bandwagon or not a fan….well boot licker, why you worried about how i feel or what i choose? KAREN MUCH???
January 8th, 2026 at 12:46 am

I’m done. The Bucs will get zero dollars from me. I’m not going to any games next year. I’m not buying any hats or shirts or jerseys.
The Glazers have insulted every one of us. They are laughing at us.
The Glazers apparently think this decision will cost them less than firing Bowles and hiring a new coach.
If I was a season ticket holder, I’d cancel. I hope many do.
The only thing anyone can do is stop giving the Glazers your money.
It’s going to be very empty in Ray Jay next year.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:48 am
Go be Jags fans losers!!
January 8th, 2026 at 12:53 am
NFL dot com is reporting it.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:54 am
I think this move shows how much power and clout Bruce Arians has at One Buc.
Maybe even more that Licht
January 8th, 2026 at 1:02 am
Beyond words.
I keep thinking that there must be something that we don’t know about. How else can this be explained. In my 50 seasons I’m not sure I have seen the fanbase so enraged. This is Hugh Culverhouse level stuff.. What are they thinking.
I can’t stop shaking my head.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:17 am
Devils advocate for Bowles: 1. Injuries affected offensive line. 2. Secondary breaking in two rookies. 3. Lack of talent in front seven, save a few. 4. Rookie oc struggled as defenses watched tape on him. 5. Players appear to respect him, didn’t lose locker room.
It could be worse, we could be the jets, browns, raiders, etc….
January 8th, 2026 at 1:20 am
Wasting a year off the careers of a lot of players. Four years coaching – 35–33,
2 years under 500 at 8-9. The so-called defensive genius has seen his defense progressively get worse each and every year as they add more talented players.
He along with LICHT need to be held accountable for keeping the special teams coach beyond Halloween. That is downright negligent.
I’ll still watch, but I will not pay a dime to go to any games this year. Absolutely disgusted.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:21 am
They did this because of the buyout? He was one of the lowest paid coaches in the NFL.
And how about we start throwing some blame towards Bruce Arians for dumping this atrocity on the team?

————————-
Crybabies because we want a HC that will win us games? How many teams fired their HCs so far? But not us. Winning a dumpster fire division is enough to keep the job. Losing the team? Who cares. Negative record? No big deal. If any of us were to perform like this in our daytime jobs, we’d be out. But not with the Glazers. Here you get rewarded for doing a terrible job.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:32 am
Oh noes, the fandom HOA Karens are out in full force, all 3 of them scolding us and telling us how to think and feel….oh my, what will i ever do without their approval….Bih, please!!!
January 8th, 2026 at 1:41 am
Fire The Glazers. This is Culverhouse Territory.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:43 am
David you got it. I smell BA stink in this. Hope we do not get a whiff of Leftwich.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:46 am
I’ve been a fan since 97. I won’t be a fan in 2026. I will not go to a game, watch on TV or purchase Bucs merchandise which I do a lot of. Since I live in Orlando area from Bradenton prior, I’m thinking about loyalty to the Jaguars !!!!
January 8th, 2026 at 1:49 am
I’m so happy for coach Bowles even though its going to be a long off season with fans crying smh next season I am all the way confident in a healthy Bucs team! Let’s revisit this next year when Bowles once again will have us in playoff contention. What sucks is fans actually rooted against the Bucs just so he can be fired lol
How do you call yourself a fan after that?
January 8th, 2026 at 1:51 am
Herb….Fans on the run.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:57 am
It simply does not make a lick of sense to keep bowlzo after such a monumentous collapse. Not even that atrocious special ed teams coach. So, are we to kick the ball through the end zone every kickoff again this year? Are we going to draft 3 safety’s and a pair of corners to play on the DL and 6 defensive tackles to man the secondary? Is Todd gonna find a toadie to help him call plays for the defence? You know those Geico commercials where the Chiefs hire the sea captain and the school crossing guard and King Henry to play football. ? Did the BUCS take diligent notes? Oppo research.

January 8th, 2026 at 2:00 am
The joes must be straight up Marxist.
January 8th, 2026 at 2:00 am
Agree Herb,
Imagine being a fan rooting against your own team to make the playoffs and then nothing changes LOL! 😆 we truly have some terrible fans amongst us…..
Its long overdue to weed out these fake fans. The good news is that yalls man crush Liam Coen is waiting for you in Jacksonville. DUUUVALLL!!
January 8th, 2026 at 2:06 am
I think once all the emotions die down, fans will realize that this is probably the best decision. It’s not a great decision, but perhaps the best.
Firing Bowles means starting all over again. We’re kinda sorta in a Super Bowl window; would a new coach want to break up the team and start all over? We have an amazing offense–talentwise–when everyone is healthy, which was never the case this season.
We ALL new linebackers (including EDGE players) but the D-line and secondary are pretty stacked, and D-line is set up for a 3-4.
If Bowles agrees to get some defensive coaching help, this could work.
January 8th, 2026 at 2:14 am
No surprise Glazers don’t look like a bright group of guys when I see them at the games. If Bowles couldn’t win with this roster he will never be able to win. Just another wasted year.
January 8th, 2026 at 2:22 am
We are NOT in a Super Bowl window by a long shot. More like top pick in the draft window.
January 8th, 2026 at 2:23 am
“It’s long overdue to weed out these fake fans. The good news is that yalls man crush Liam Coen is waiting for you in Jacksonville. DUUUVALLL!!”
Probably hosting the Lombardy in year one after turning a 4-13 franchise into 13-4
Liam would hang 50 on Bowles D just like the Rams and not give a F- that’s killer instinct Todd – Liam “was that man” Jason – delusional franchise
January 8th, 2026 at 2:25 am
For myself, Bowles is only just a small piece of the overall big picture. I have ZERO RESPECT for the Glazers #1. It all starts with THEM at THE TOP. I have no confidence in them, whatsoever. It’s obviously, NOT important or meaningful enough to them. WINNING is NOT Priority #1. Their $$$$, comfort, and virtue signaling to their ‘friends’ is. 💯 FACTS.
January 8th, 2026 at 2:39 am
I recall reading how GM Licht is known to do very fair and accurate reviews of the team’s Managers from the HC on down for the owners. Hard for be to believe that now and yet Bowles is still the HC.
Hard to say this because I’ve always been a believer in Licht as the GM, but now? Welcome to the frying pan Licht!
January 8th, 2026 at 2:45 am
Use the platform to change ownership’s minds. This is an excellent start. Maybe have a finance intern do an economic assessment on the lost 2026 revenues and damage to the franchise value that another year of Todd Bowles will cause.
Maybe form an alliance with the other Bucs news outlets and unite in the cause to magnify the outrage. Because this is outrageous outrage.
The Glazers do speak Wealthish. It’s their love language.
The home opener of 2026, the only fans in the stadium will be opposing team fans and a few dullards who have no idea where they are, they just like the noise and the heat.
January 8th, 2026 at 2:47 am
All 3 phases Off Def and ST all declined in 2025.
For the last 2 months = lifeless – flat, game after game.
Many ways it feels just like it did with Lovie Smith, lifeless dead feeling of a team.
But at least they fired Lovie.
The franchise has become irrelevant again, that is sad.
Hopefully lightning strikes next year and this team becomes decent again.
Then it will not just be a wasted year in 2026 and Bowles gets fired and they hire a different HC anyways.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:04 am
You softies never would have survived being Bucs fans in the 80’s and early 90’s. The Bucs start out 2 dash 0 next year and you will all be back. Imagine being Jets or Cardinals fans….jeeeez
January 8th, 2026 at 3:07 am
It makes NO SENSE to ME. I have never cared about $$$$. It’s NEVER been important to me. And, I also came from “old money.” But, if they aren’t huge “sports people,” then they should just SELL the team to ‘someone’ else, who IS. They are NOT interested and ONLY care about THE $$$$$ anyway. I mean, what’s the point… WHY even waste your time!? Just ‘MOVE-ON’ then, and be done with it! Call-it a Day.
But, THEY CAN’T. Because, it has a lot more to do with the POWER and CLOUT to them, than what it does about anything else. Trust ME… I KNOW the types. They are PATHETIC individuals. The absolute WORST. They always try to mask or hide that, and cover it up… But, don’t you believe otherwise. Just KNOW IT.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:12 am
I am truly baffled from a PR standpoint as to the latest Glazer moves. They put out, what I believed to be, an awesome documentary-series about the Bucs history in which they portrayed themselves as fans as well as caring owners of a team that we all cherish. They highlighted the times thou difficult when changes had to be made. Then the debacle of the last season begins to unfold. Them knowing both this documentary was going to land at the time this team was crashing. Add to that the fact that the 2 coaches you let walk out the door have revitalized their respective teams and will be on full display this weekend in the playoffs, while your team will not be. Then, instead of taking steps to correct and try to put this team back on a championship trajectory, you double down and keep in place the chief architect of this disaster. Just baffled!
January 8th, 2026 at 3:13 am
@ Gman Says: “You softies never would have survived being Bucs fans in the 80’s and early 90’s.”
THIS is 2026, guy! No one’s trying to survive the 1980’s or 1990’s. It’s irrelevant.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:26 am
@ Boge Says: “Joes – in the preseason Todd said he had a lightbulb moment about what was wrong with the D. I’d love to know what that was, clearly wasn’t the case.”

January 8th, 2026 at 3:28 am
Maybe they don’t wanna pay Baker after next year and wanna tank for Arch Manning in 2027 draft??
I can’t figure it out otherwise here…..
Definitely need:
– SOLID FA ILB to replace LD54
– Draft Ardell Reese in Rd 1 to be lay next to our new FA ILB
– Trade for Mad Max Crosby with Raiders (2nd rounder + 2027 pick)
– Draft Defensive Tackle in 3rd round
– Need TE in 4th round
– also will need backup QB, & another RB for White
January 8th, 2026 at 3:33 am
Do NOT resign Reddick!!!
If we can make a trade for Mad Max, that would be perfect!!!
Should have David Walker back in the spring to see what we got in this kid after his ACL tear is healed up. He could Beth extra pass rush juice we need in a rotation with Yaya & Mad Max 🙂
Offer Otton a contract extension but nothing crazy…
Need a good 2nd TE to play with Otton
Make the RB’s the Buck & Tuck show!!
Hopefully our o-line will be back in tact next spring as well.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:35 am
They’re my team and I will watch, but I strongly oppose the decision to keep him. We still have some good players that may waste a year of their careers on losing again. Maybe Jason Licht can put together a roster good enough that Todd can’t mess it up again. I think the stadium will be full of opponent’s fans, more than ever.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:35 am

January 8th, 2026 at 3:39 am
This fan will never forget the “cover zero” blitz against the best QB aganist the blitz, Stafford, and leaving Cooper Cupp wide open for a 44 yard catch end our 2021 playoff run.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:43 am
It’s NOT Bowles’s Fault People. He’s NOT Firing HIMSELF. And, He’s NOT JUST ‘Walking Away’ From 3-YEARS WORTH of FULLY GUARANTEED CASH MONEY, & TENS OF ‘MILLIONS’ of DOLLARS. Direct Your Anger WHERE IT BELONGS… The Glazers AND Lickt. 💯
January 8th, 2026 at 3:55 am
Going into the Detroit game, Bowles was 11-2 in his previous 13 regular season games. I believe the only previous time in franchise history that was matched was in the 2002 Super Bowl winning regular season. It’s just ridiculous that people are pretending Bowles can’t be successful. Make some smart coaching changes, get Baker back to his best, upgrade the defense in free agency and the draft, and there’s no reason why the Bucs can’t be a very dangerous team in 2026.
January 8th, 2026 at 4:02 am
Sports fan can have long memories. If the Bucs implode in 2026 like they did in 2025 there will be Hell to pay.
Money talks (rules the world). If fans revolt by not attending games that should send a strong financial message to the Glazers. Loyalty is admirable but winning for a lot of fans is priority ONE.
HOPEFULLY it ends up well for all sides.
January 8th, 2026 at 4:04 am
Agree Joe, winning is the greatest perfume. But at some point you need to take a bath.
We can always be civil and not over react. Honestly though there is not one logical reason to keep this going. Glazers and Licht are like Bowles now. They are continuing to do the same things and expect different results.
We have talked about everything that we have been seeing the last couple of years. The unbelievable soft coverage, the non existent pass rush, the countless bad decisions in gametime management, the refusal to make changes in the coaching stuff/philosophy even when its not working. We can go on and on and on. But its beyond reason to continue down this path after a 2-7 collapse.
Sorry but its indefensible.
Go Bucs
January 8th, 2026 at 4:06 am
Great images, Joe. Nice to laugh a little this morning!
January 8th, 2026 at 4:57 am
My last two comments on this….of course he will replace his OC and Assistant DC’s…special teams…because it’s their fault, not his? Any good leader knows when there’s a collapse it starts with them. Last, if this truly is the owners decision, how do you hire big name coordinators when they know they will be working for a lame duck coach? It never works out. I can list the teams all the way down to the Giants, Bears last year…everyone will be fired at the end of next year, unfortunately probably our GM too. Why put your fans and hard working players through this just to humor Bowles. He’s not a big picture guy or a leader!
January 8th, 2026 at 4:58 am

Have these so called fans who support Bowles and this mess of a team watched even a single game this year? This team will NEVER win a SB with Bowles. Anyone who can’t see that is delusional.
Who in their right mind wants to go through another year like this. Saying you are not a fan because you don’t support a failed franchise makes no sense.
And saying well it could be worse, really, is that how low of a standard we have now.
Those posting on here praising Bowles would have sold you a ticket on the Titanic and told you what a great ship it is. Mediocrity is not what the goal should be.
Wake up TB this franchise will continue to fail with clueless ownership and failed direction.
January 8th, 2026 at 5:10 am
@Tony1775,
None of us will forget that play. Bowles was never the same after that cover zero call. His defenses went downhill after that. He started playing soft zone and abandoned his blitz man coverage he had as DC under Arians.
January 8th, 2026 at 5:16 am
Loser mentality franchise. It’s like the European mind virus had taken over Glszers thought process. I guess everyone gets a trophy is the theme for this embarrassing ownership
January 8th, 2026 at 5:18 am
Love seeing accountants and grocery baggers give breakdowns of gms and coaches. So many people on here think they are the second coming of Stephen a or Svp. Bowles in my opinion does suck, still gonna pull for my team though. Hope he proves me wrong. But the Licht hate is crazy, could they have done more trade deadline and free agency yes. However he’s been quietly working the Bucs from cap hell back to where they actually have money to spend in free agency. Even last year the cap wasn’t allowing for the high priced edge rusher everyone wanted. That’s what so many geniuses on this site seem to forget is there is a legit cap and managing and navigating that isn’t always easy and why a lot of teams find them selves in bad situations year after year
January 8th, 2026 at 5:31 am
Oh and a lot of y’all must be Brady Bucs fans cause the Bucs keeping Bowles instead of going after Harbaugh is the most Bucs move I can think of
January 8th, 2026 at 5:45 am
What would the Glazers say??? We won’t fire Licht because he is one of us and we can’t fire Bowles because our white guilt won’t allow it.
They have truly became the Jets or Browns. Bucs can be synonymous with bottom tier teams stuck there for decades
January 8th, 2026 at 6:02 am
I’m not an NFL fan… I’m a Buccaneers fan. I couldn’t care less about any other team. In the past 50 years I’ve missed one season (I was out of the country as a missionary in 1990). Only missed one game other than that. I haven’t missed ANY drafts.
I don’t plan on missing any games at this point. I’m not going to another team. That’s not what I do. I am a Buccaneers fan for life.
So I have no choice in any of this. If I don’t watch a game, I will listen to it on the radio, but I won’t miss it.
The honest truth is this: if the Buccaneers win next year, I’ll be happy. If they lose, I will not enjoy the product, but I’ll still be a fan. It’s no that they can do wrong…it’s that I will support them regardless. Kind of like a parent loves their child.
Lifetime fans of the Buccaneers know this is not a great situation, but it certainly is not the worst thing to happen with this team. People who claim it is have obviously not been around long enough. Bowles isn’t anywhere near the worst coach we’ve had, as people have claimed.
Quite the endorsement: “He’s not the worst coach we’ve had…”
I’m not happy about this, but winning would change that. No one can know how things will turn out next year. Predictions can and WILL be made, and some may end up being accurate through shear luck, but in the end, we won’t know until the games are played.
At this point, I would be happy to win in the playoffs…a Superbowl would be great.
During the first half of the season, it felt like a Superbowl was in reach. I don’t believe that was a fluke. We’re not far away. I believe that. But if Bowles really is staying, some other changes must be made.

January 8th, 2026 at 6:04 am
Players missed a total of 238 games
We lost 4 straight games by a total of 11 points
He deserves another season
I’m sure the Glazers fully evaluated Coach Bowles
I’m ok with the Glazers decision
Now it’s time to focus on Free Agency
And start scouting players for the draft

What does Bowles have that Gruden didn’t have???
Gruden had a Super Bowl Win!
Gruden only lost 4 games at end of season once.
What could it be ?????
January 8th, 2026 at 6:12 am
Bowles returning shouldn’t be a surprise. A few of us tried to warn you.
Bowles coming back means a few things. The biggest thing is no other coach they liked wanted to come to the Bucs, if they even wanted another coach.
The Bucs job isnt the most attractive. The roster is average at best and the QB position played bad down the stretch will receive $42 million guaranteed next season. The back up QB is bad and much of the depth on this team is bad. Or they cant play in the current system.
They Bucs have to be terrible before they can be great again. The Glazers know Bowles will get them the top 10 pick they need to draft the future at QB and start clean with a new HC and possibly GM after next season.
Just have to deal with another season of bad football.

BOWLES is barely Mid
January 8th, 2026 at 6:18 am
I have been a fan since walking into the first preseason game and was in the stands for the 0-26 days, I have had 2 season tickets for approximately 250 home games. I am out until the next coach, no point repeating what I have said over the past days.
January 8th, 2026 at 6:22 am
the big question is why did they collapse? obviously to the owners losing 7 out of 9 and missing the playoffs was not enuf for them to go back on the extension they just gave him a couple months ago. Yaya said they werent prepared and out of position. the OC is clueless at least 50% of the time on how to use his weapons. the special teams were putrid. Todd needs new OC and DC ad he should only be the HC if this is the way it’s going to go. A lot of teams in all sports go into inexplicable slumps but this was catastrophic- one stop against the ATL and we’ve won a record number of nfc south titles(for what thats worth) and were hosting the Rams Saturday. Bakers wife doesn’t even want Bowles, the team quit on him- what does that say for next year? Dont think losing Mike Evans and Rashaad is not going to hurt, probably Jamel Dean also… 26 looks bleak bucs fans!!
January 8th, 2026 at 6:31 am
Can anyone honestly say they see a Superbowl in the future of the Buccaneers with Todd Bowles as coach? If the answer is no then why is he here? Another wasted year. Life is short . These years all count and go by very quickly. Why waste them as an owner unless you are all about the money and not the product . This team is a cash cow for the Glazers to spend money on their soccer team.
January 8th, 2026 at 6:34 am
I said it numerous times. Every one of those people will watch on sundays and jump on the bandwagon when it’s going good.
People complain, it’s easy to do.
January 8th, 2026 at 6:35 am
Three things: 1). Malcolm was still alive, he fired Gruden. The kids are slower to fire folks. 2). It wasn’t just “football.” Gruden showed signs of mental instability. 3). The Bucs can still fire Bowles, any time. I personally have not seen the Glazers enthusiastically confirm their support for Bowles, unless I missed it.
January 8th, 2026 at 6:36 am
@Lakeland, they also won 5 games in the last minute of the game. This team could easily be 4-13. This team beat the 49ers and the Seasucks. How can you collapse that bad? Coaching, all coaching.
January 8th, 2026 at 6:36 am
To all the fans saying that injuries were the problem, then how are the 49er’s and Packers in their playoffs with winning records and a ton of injuries to key players.
To all the fans saying that Jason Licht will draft players to help us next year, please name me the players on defense he’s drafted who are good and could start for a play-off teams?
To all of the fans saying we just need FA, what FA are going to come to a lame duck head coach?
To all of the fans saying that we will get new coaches to help Bowles, what coaches are going to come to a lame duck head coach?
January 8th, 2026 at 6:40 am
Jon Gruden coaches the Bucs for 7 seasons
We went to the playoffs 3 times in those 7 seasons
Todd Bowles has been a coach with the Bucs for 7 seasons
3 as Defense Coordinator, 4 as HC
We have been to the playoffs 5 times in his 7 seasons
Including 5 straight playoff appearances, before this collapse
He clearly deserves another season.
And the Glazers gave him another season
Tine to get down to business for the 2926 season
January 8th, 2026 at 6:47 am
So, here’s my wishlist based on the assumption that Bowles stays:
🏈 NFL Refs must be held accountable. At this point, their bad calls are rigging games. I didn’t feel this way at the start of the year. But things progressively got worse throughout the NFL.
🏈 I would like a true dedicated DC…one that is not a Bowles ‘Yes Man’. Obviously Bowles is in charge, but a DC that actually makes decisions is needed. I say this knowing full well that if we get one who does well, other teams will hire him away as head coach the following year…which will put us back to Bowles as DC unless we hire a new one.
🏈 More Defensive draft picks. The last draft had defensive picks in rounds 2-5, and WRs for the first and last rounds (no 6th round pick). The draft results were good. Four of six have good potential, and two have great potential (the WRs). Our next draft has go to land some more good to great players.
🏈 I would like to see the fans finally understand that this is a team that builds through drafting, not through free agency. No through trades. Long-term competitive teams build through drafts. Period. And it takes draft picks time to develop. Development looks different for each player. Where one might become great in less than a season (Mike Evans), another might take 3-5 seasons (Ronde Barber).
Rookie years are usually not great for most players. Second year players usually show progress. Third years are when most players tend to prove they are good or not, but all players continue to develop even beyond that.
Free Agency and Trades need to be used sparingly at the higher levels. Licht has the right plan on this.
🏈 IF Griz remains OC, I would like him to have full control over the offense. This year started out great, but the injuries played a big role and it felt like Todd Bowles placed limits on the offense. Defensive head coaches tend to be more conservative. Griz, being a rookie OC, was likely heavily influenced by Bowles. IF we keep Griz on, Bowles needs to be hand-off.
If Griz is replaced, well, obviously an upgrade would be nice.
While we’re on the topic of OC, I feel like teams should be prevented from pilfering coordinators during their first two years with teams. I think allowing teams to do so before that prevents many teams from becoming competitive. Two years at least give time to prepare a proper replacement.
🏈 A suitable replacement for Lavante David. I know we need a pass rusher very badly…and that is a huge priority…but so is a replacement for Lavante. It took years to go from Brooks to David. I would like to not wait so long this time.
🏈 Get a good backup quarterback for a change. Teddy is no good at all, and he looks like a voodoo zombie out there. I felt like Trask got a raw deal here, but there is no proof he could have done better. At least with Blaine Gabbert we had a backup whol could win a couple games. We need a new backup who at least his level, if not better. Even if it is a late draft pick. A free agent. A cheap trade.
Ideally, an upper round pick would be great, but those picks badly need to go to defense.

January 8th, 2026 at 6:58 am
Dungy Redux…… Nice guy, well respected but can’t get over the hump without a generational HOF talent like Peyton Manning. Who will be the 2026 Bucs, version of generational talent, Peyton Manning? Oh that’s right, Todd already had his Peyton Manning moment in his first season as Bucs Head Coach and led Tom Brady and a stacked Bucs team to Brady’s first and only losing season in his NFL career.
Glazers are pinching pennies again,…. And fans are being treated to the hope that Bowles, a .590 coach in his 4 years as Bucs Head Coach (including playoffs) will suddenly become a Big winner. That already happened last year when the Bucs sprinted out of the gate to a 6-2 record only to have reality drag them back down into the mediocrity that is Todd Bowles legacy of futility.
“The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing and expecting different results, Albert Eunstein”. You don’t have to be Albert Einstein to know what’s going to happen with the team next year. (But in any event, the Glazer$ will continue to rake in in the Megabucks and continue to milk every drop out of this cash cow (funded in large part by the generosity of the Hillsborough county taxpayers) next year.

“What does Bowles have that Gruden didn’t have???

🏈 Player Loyalty. Yes, he threw the players under the bus during ‘the’ press conference, and I believe they turned on him for a few games after that…but somehow he won them back. It’s been reported that the players want him back.
Gruden consistently threw players under the bus, never kept his word to them, and tore a superbowl team apart. By the time he was fired, most of the team no longer had his back.
🏈 Bowles is very calm under most circumstances, with few exceptions. Gruden was very chaotic.
🏈 Gruden had more fontrol over the draft…and he was horrible at it.

Joseph C Simmons … ‘We (need) ALL new linebackers (including EDGE players) but the D-line and secondary are pretty stacked, and D-line is set up for a 3-4.’
Wish I could be as ‘optimistic’ as you are Joseph, but I can even come close. Licht grossly overpaid for (1) McCollum ($16.0 mil/yr; (2) Winfield ($21.0 mil/yr); and (3) Reddick ($14.0 mil/yr average salary, saving $13.2 mil in CAP hit if not re-signed. Vea (age 30) averages $17.8 mil/yr (this is his last contract year). LVD is almost surely gone (saving $9.0 mil/yr & CAP hit) as is Jamel Dean (saving $4.3 mil/yr in average salary but $12.6 mil in CAP hit).
Our DLine is marginal Joseph, and desperately needs to be rebuilt. It’s terrible on creating interior pass rush (37 sacks & 132 pressures are both the lowest of Bowles’ 7 yrs here). And contrary to popular opinion, it was terrible at defending the run in 2025 (ranked #2 in Opponents’ Rushing Attempts, #5 in Rushing Yards Allowed, but #16 in Rushing TDs Allowed (16 TDs) and #14 in Rushing YPC (with 4.3 YPC average). Add to that the horrific 69.8% Red Zone TDs Allowed (worst in the NFL) and it spells total disaster.
Vita Vea will undoubtedly be here 1 more year, but he played far too many def snaps this year (763 snaps … 73%) and I’m convinced that it hurt him (and us) big-time. I’d keep Calijah Kancey (24), but move him more outside (convinced that he’d be more effective out there & not get beaten up as much). I’d also keep Elijah Roberts (24) & Greg Gaines (29) for 2026. But I’d replace Logan Hall, Marques Watts, Elijah Simmons & CJ Brewer on the DLine to make it more ‘robust’; we’re much too light on our DLine (and Simmons isn’t the way to fix that).
I agree with you about needing new linebackers, but I’d keep Diaby as a starter. Signing someone to help him on the other side is a key challenge; I personally prefer that it be a proven veteran as opposed to drafting yet another Edge. Replacing LVD AND getting a new MLB will be a real challenge (SVD could make a decent backup, but he’s not a starter). I still wish that we’d transition back to a 4-3 BTW, but with Bowles as our coach that ain’t gonna happen.
I personally thought that our Secondary was meh at best this past year. McCollum didn’t impress me, even though his 59.8% Completion Percentage Allowed was quite good, but he allowed 7 TDs. Same with Morrison; his 58.5% Completion Percentage Allowed was also very good, but he allowed 3 TDs & couldn’t stay healthy. Parrish impressed me early in the season while at Nickel, but he was disappointing later on (his 71.4% Completion Percentage Allowed was not that good IMO). We need some fresh blood there, and no more rookies. This coaching staff can’t seem to develop them properly.

I don’t believe for a second that this is financially driven. If it were, they would have fired Bowles. Keeping him is a huge gamble. It will affect ticket and merch sales.
No, what I believe is that they know something we do not.
Maybe Bowles went to them and said, “I’m retiring after one more year. Give me this year to go out on a winning note.”
I think that there is much that we as fans, are not privy to.
January 8th, 2026 at 8:13 am
This is my favorite site to get Bucs info. I post every game day in the game day thread with a lot of other fans. However I can’t do it this up coming season if Bowles is the coach. I love this team but I can’t watch Bowles ruin another season with his inept coaching. Glazers should have done the right thing by fans and removed Bowles and gave us all hope for the upcoming season. But instead they choose to stand by and keep the guy that isn’t working. Like fitting a square peg in a round hole.

To hear some of the supporters saying that the fans that want him gone are not real fans is disgusting. They obviously have just begun to watch this team or really have no interest or care if the team wins or looses. I bet their hearths are full of participation trophies. I have watched every game that has been played since inception and have supported this team even when they were the “Yucks” and loosing 26 in a row.I watched the lost decade after the first Super Bowl. I have also watched when we were just good enough to take away any chance we had of improving through the draft. I believed that it was time for Chucky to go when he was let go as he did not have the ability to get us to the next level. I also believe that without a major overhaul to the team and coaching staff this was a mistake.
I “will not” feel bad for wanting a competitive team. I will never be the type of fan that’s just happy I’m not the Cleveland Browns. I don’t expect to be in the super-bowl every year but I also don’t want every media sports expert making light of our team and its chances. I’m tired of hearing “ Oh it’s just the Bucs”.
We give Jason too much credit for what he has done because of the Brady era but ask yourself how many of those acquisitions were his idea or were Tom saying get me that guy? How many misses does he have on defense? When is the last time he drafted a pro bowl lineman? How many tight end’s has he drafted?
There is supposed to be communication between the coach and GM so someone needs to take the blame for the lackadaisical effort of the team. We have players speaking out in anonymity because they know it’s not going to change. “Please” stop blaming this collapse on injuries. If I’m not mistaken every team in the playoffs dealt with injuries and didn’t have 9 losses. How were we ok with making the playoffs with 9 losses?
Bowles is not capable of running the team and being the defensive coordinator. I’m not sure why ownership can’t see that. I think he can still be an effective defensive coordinator but not also being head coach. Some can and some can’t. A perfect example would be to simply look toward the mighty Patriots. Josh McDaniel had left the team how many times to cement his legacy as a head coach and how many times has he had to come crawling back as an offensive coordinator? That doesn’t mean he’s not a great coach and coordinator he just can’t do both. That is the case with Bowles. For further confirmation we just have to look back to his tenure with the Jets same scenario. Fired but reincarnated as the defensive coordinator with the Bucs.
Glazers if you’re keeping him then you need to hire a defensive coordinator or our defense will continue to plummet. He needs to oversee the team and not have complete control of hiring and firing. The special teams coach, defensive back coach, Linebacker coach needs to be released. It is embarrassing and gives our opponents an immediate advantage when they see we are afraid to kick to them and continue kicking it into the end zone and brining it out to the 35.
There has to be a shake up if not my thoughts are that if you continue supporting the Bucs you may be simple people that may or may not eat crayons. Expect more from the team that you invest your time and money supporting. If not why bother?
Just food for thought!!
January 8th, 2026 at 9:05 am
Lots of good points here – for and against. Also, the usual trolls, who don’t have anything constructive to say.
And people ranting, although that seems to be diminishing.
To the ranters and those against bringing Todd back, I’ll just say wait and see what happens.
Changes to the coaching staff are coming. Maybe a separate DC and a new OC, And a younger staff. Aqualung said it from day 1 this year – Todd is overwhelmed trying to do both jobs.
I can see why the Glazers brought Todd back. He won three conference championships, almost a 4th. And that went down to the last day of the season. The injury problem was real, and you had starters who were practice squad level.
Football is a team sport. One weak link will afect EVERYONE. And let’s hope Todd has learned his lesson about walkthroughs.
So – don’t give up the ship!

The NFL is an entertainment business and Bowles Bucs are not entertaining enough to watch for 3 hours every week. Watching our offense last year was very similar to watching Byron Leftwich’s offense in 2022. Boring. Bowles defenses have always been pathetic and always make the same mistakes but at least when we had Cohen, the offense was fun to watch.

That’s not how I remembered it, but I’m not saying you’re wrong. I remember Steve Duemig openly say he thought Gruden should be fired at one point. Steve’s takes about the Bucs were shared by many people. It’s too bad you weren’t doing polls back in 2008.
You’re right that fans grew weary of Gruden and Allen’s tenure in Bucs history. The team never got the QB position right. The team kept failing in free agency and in the draft and the Bucs were consistently inconsistent year after year. I seem to remember most Bucs fans wanted him gone and it was largely celebrated when he was fired.
January 8th, 2026 at 10:32 am
For me its easy, since I’m not really one of those die hard Football fans. So not watching the 26 season is easy. I can’t root for the Bucs to lose but I cant put myself through another season of unprepared players, predictable play calling on both O & D, garbage special teams. Bucs fans let’s hang in there and hope hope GM and the Glazers get it right for 2026 thru the draft and possibly free agency. Let’s get what this team needs in a stronger defense…edge rusher…linebacker help and tighten up the secondary. Bring in a OC who wants to open up this offense and keep patching up that offensive line. A backup QB could help. The talent is there just need the right coaching.Ebuka is going to be a star…generational talent. We can do it! No big IQs and everybody goes all in. Joe, just to remind everyone please post Bucs miserable defensive stats since 2023. Plus the prime time record, the post bye record, his home field record and any other bottom of the barrel stats this disaster of a coach has produced. This organization thinks by firing his underlings the fans will quiet down some. They’re wrong. 90+ percent of the fans aren’t going to accept this guy escaping responsibility for his massive failures. This ain’t going away. Every Bucs podcast, sports show and website will be hammering the Glazers and Licht and Bowles every single day moving forward. Bank on it. His name is garbage in this town now. The arrogant prick that he is. We’ll make sure nobody forgets what a disaster this guy is, today, tomorrow, next week and next month. We won’t shut up until the coward owners dump him.

Im for bowles.
But not for reddick and those that thought they were smarter than florida gator Howie roseman, the special teams coach, the defensive front 7 coach. , the injury management office The tight ends coach and the referee management assistants.
I am disappointed with the lack of outrage about reddick. If he played average we are in tge playoffs. He took the money and was a complete failure. A really bad look. Low moment forvhsson, more so than that fsu kicker or jts or some of the early year errors
January 8th, 2026 at 5:45 pm
I will no longer wastes my time on this franchise until massive changes are made. Ownership is clueless and surrounded by guys who’ll do anything to save their own hides. Zero accountability. Licht and Bowles should’ve resigned as a matter of integrity. Go ahead and fire all the other coaches but the two ringleaders get to stay. Here’s hoping the stadium is empty next year.
January 8th, 2026 at 7:26 pm
Watching the Bucs the last 4 years has been brutal. Lots of yelling at the TV wondering why our DB’s keep playing 5-10 yards off the receivers and leaving the middle open. Nothing gets me pissed faster than crap defense, and we’ve had a lot of that these last 4 seasons. Most of us who’ve been around long enough have always seen the Bucs as a team that started with the defensive side of the ball. It was really fun when we had both sides clicking during the Super Bowl run. I’ve wanted this dude gone the last 3 seasons due to his clear inability to improve the defense, and his team has just gotten worse every year on that side of the ball.
I don’t know what the hell the Glazers are thinking. One can only hope they pull a late firing out of the hat, because the fan base will check out next year. They’ve seen enough and know this team ain’t goin’ anywhere with this .500 coach.
