Possible Replacements For Bucs Offensive Coordinator Josh Grizzard
January 8th, 2026OK, Joe began spitballing names of potential new offensive coordinators for the Bucs. There is one caveat, though, with this new hire.
Joe guesses neither Bucs coach Todd Bowles nor Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht, nor Team Glazer, want to fart around with an inexperienced, rookie play-caller. Just a strong hunch that Bowles’ seat will be roasting hot to start the 2026 season and he likely doesn’t want to trust his career to hope (what a concept!).
So here are some names Joe’s going to throw out. No intel at all, just hunches.
Todd Monken: The former Bucs, Crows and Georgia offensive coordinator, Monken is an aggressive play-caller, which sort of makes Joe think he wouldn’t be a great fit for Bowles. He already allegedly turned the Bucs down two years ago, as at the time Bowles looked like a lame duck coach. Well, it’s pretty obvious that Bowles is in a win-now mode, or else. So Joe isn’t sure, if offered, Monken would take the gig. He could be a head coach during this coaching cycle. Monken not only has experience working with Baker Mayfield at Cleveland, but three years ago the Crows were very interested in bringing Mayfield into their nest. Monken had just been hired as their offensive coordinator. If Monken didn’t want to work with Mayfield, Baltimore surely wouldn’t have been trying to sign him.
Kliff Kingsbury: This would be dicey. But on face value, what an awesome hire this would be. Strangely, he got run from Washington even though he is responsible for developing Commandos star quarterback Jayden Daniels. He is a borderline genius working with quarterbacks. (He made Johnny Football a legend!). The tricky part here is that Kingsbury was Baker Mayfield’s coach at Texas Tech and from what Joe reads, they may not be exchanging Christmas cards during the holidays. Maybe they have patched things up?
Ryan Grubb: He’s sort of like Liam Coen in terms of coaching experience. Grubb has a lot of college experience as a play-caller but just one season in the NFL with Seattle in 2024. Seattle was 16th in yards per game in 2024 with Grubb and Geno Smith at quarterback. And look what happened to Smith after Grubb went back to college. Grubb coached Michael Penix at Washington and Alabama star quarterback Ty Simpson this past fall. With Seattle, the Seahawks were poor running the ball in 2024, ranked No. 28 in rushing yards per game. The Seahawks split their carries for RB1 between Kenneth Walker III (573) and Zach Charbonnet (569). Maybe, given his experience working with two running backs splitting time, he would appeal to Bowles, who may be splitting carries between Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker?
Charlie Weis Jr.: Please do not react to the name. The son is a rising star in college. The former USF offensive coordinator is the play-caller for Ole Miss, currently in the college semifinals. When the season is over he’s headed to LSU to work with Lane Kiffin. Weis developed Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss from a Division-II signal-caller into a very likely first-round pick. Weis has limited NFL experience, working as an assistant under then-Dixie Chicks offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian in 2017.
Lincoln Riley: This is a pipedream for Joe. Riley is an OK head coach but he is an absolute wizard at calling plays; there may be no one better in all of football. And Riley loves to establish the run so he would mesh with Bowles. And, oh yeah, he was Baker Mayfield’s coach at Oklahoma and the two are tight. Riley is no stranger to the Bucs as Joe saw him on the sidelines when the Bucs slapped around the Eagles in the playoffs two years ago. This would be a total steal for Team Glazer and the Bucs. But Joe cannot imagine why Riley would leave USC for an NFL offensive coordinator position unless Team Glazer sweetened the pot so much that perhaps they would promise him he would succeed Bowles as Bucs coach someday. Also, Riley isn’t very popular these days in Los Angeles. Trojans fans are getting restless with him and they are peeved at him for ending the treasured Notre Dame series (right Kristen Lago?). Team Glazer likes splash hires and there would be no bigger splash at offensive coordinator than Riley. (Also, Riley’s current USC quarterback Jayden Maiava is very good and he’s likely entering the draft in 2027. Mayfield’s contract expires in February 2027.) Riley is possibly Mike Leach’s most famous and successful disciple.
Nate Scheelhaase: If one wants to try to recapture some Liam Coen magic, why not the Rams’ passing game coordinator? Sean McVay’s pixie dust usually works wonders for his assistants. While Scheelhaase has not called plays at the NFL level, he did call plays for current Penn State coach Matt Campbell at Iowa State. Joe wrote about Scheelhaase last year when the Bucs were searching for Coen’s successor. Scheelhaase was both offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Iowa State and he developed some quarterback you may have heard of, Rocco Becht, in his first year as the Cyclones starting quarterback.

Experience is a must
January 8th, 2026 at 11:24 am
Fire Thomas McGaughey.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:25 am
Not going to make a difference unless Bowles is forced to hire a full time defensive coordinator, and it’s all being blamed on the offense right now.
Why hasn’t special bus driver Mr Magoo been fired yet? What the hell?
January 8th, 2026 at 11:25 am
Scheelhaase.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:26 am
Where is,Alex Van Pelt? Currently at Rams and Bakers non play calling oc at Browns. Manziel has to be the backup if you hire Kliff.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:28 am
Which one of these guys wants a job for one year?
Bowles starts the season on the hot seat and loves a ball control, run dominant offense. What OC wants to that? When Baker turns the ball over, Bowles will get scared and we’ll see 30 runs up the gut for the rest of the game.
Baker can’t push the ball downfield consistently and Bowles is so conservative he might as well wear a red hat.
This team is only as good as its leaders. With Bowles and Baker here the Bucs are destined to lose.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:28 am
Mike McDaniel. Then he can move to the head job in 2027 when Bowles is fired.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:29 am
None of it matters with Bowles as the head coach.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:29 am
How about I don’t care, because I won’t be watching them now that they have decided to remain a below .500 team and Obliviously don’t give a $hit about winning a Super Bowl anymore!
January 8th, 2026 at 11:30 am
Mike McDaniel
January 8th, 2026 at 11:30 am
Thomas McGaughey been fired yet?
January 8th, 2026 at 11:31 am
Joe, do you think Todd has any concerns that if the Bucs get a former HC as oc and he does exceptional that the OC will replace him as Bucs HC?
January 8th, 2026 at 11:32 am
Lincoln Riley maybe. No to the rest.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:35 am
Come to a unstable coaching environment for a tarnished one year gig … good luck!
January 8th, 2026 at 11:36 am
Bringing Monken back is the only logical choice. Evans and Godwin loved him. He worked a year with Baker. He’s good at what he does.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:37 am
We should just go back to wearing the Creamsicle Uniforms at this point nobody worth a damn will want to come here for a 1 year stain on their resume
January 8th, 2026 at 11:37 am
Joe doesn’t think Bowles has any leverage these days.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:38 am
Didn’t Monken say no the year we hired Canales because of uncertainty around Bowles’ future?
January 8th, 2026 at 11:38 am
Grizzard was in an almost ‘impossible’ position for a first-time play-caller, no matter how you slice it! Just another ONE of the MANY reasons for EXPOSING the complete incompetence and laziness of THIS GM, FO, and Ownership Group.

Bucs offensive consultant Tom Moore announces his retirement pr PFT.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:42 am
Yall can’t say I wasn’t right. And I’m gonna toot my horn! The glazers were not gonna fire Bowles and pay another HC at the same time! It’s always cheaper to “upgrade” the staff.
Oh and as a die hard soccer fan Manchester United is a mess!! They just fired the managers. Man U loves to fire head he’s about a year and a half into their contracts. Can you imagine the money they owe the old managers and their staff. I read approximately $40 million!! You can make an easy argument that the Man U situation played a role here.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:42 am
This situation is just brutal…
January 8th, 2026 at 11:42 am
OC will be a launch pad for head coaching job (at least interim)
start the season 2-8 and I can’t imagine Bowles makes it to the end — OC slides right in to the HC position
I do think McDaniel would be a massive upgrade as OC and likely a massive upgrade at HC as well — he should be able to get a job quickly
January 8th, 2026 at 11:42 am
You get a guy who would be ready to be a head coach as OC, then you can roll him right in to head coach when Bowles implodes on the defensive side.
An experience OC like Monken or McDaniel ready to be a head coach already would see Bowles on the hotseat as an opportunity for them to advance, unlike green coordinators who know they’d be jettisoned when eventually Bowles does get fired.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:44 am
Thad Lewis gone too. When are the defensive firings coming down?
January 8th, 2026 at 11:46 am
Why would any big name come here right now? Think about this for 3 seconds.
Todd is already on the hottest seat in the NFL.
You packing up and moving your family to Tampa as the new OC with like a 75% chance to get fired after this year?
January 8th, 2026 at 11:47 am
I would take Mike McDaniel or Kingsbury those are probably the most experienced calling plays on an NFL level and at this point Bowles needs all the help he can get. Especially since his defense give up 30 plus points a game.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:49 am
Joe…..You have to know that no big name OC will join Bowles POS staff…he is on thin ice and everyone knows it….that is why I just can not understand the Glazers for tanking the 2026 season in keeping Bowles…maybe they will see for themselves that no really proven OC will come here.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:49 am
Mike McDaniel is an obvious upgrade at OC, but would Bowles feel threatened by having a high football IQ guy in the building?

January 8th, 2026 at 11:53 am
sweeten the pot for Montgen. Offer the assistant head coach position. Todd needs help with in game decisions since he is three points short of a win all too often. His experience could also help baker and the offensive gameplan.

Fire Bowles now
January 8th, 2026 at 11:56 am
Who can score 40 a game? With a Coach Blows defense that is the requirement
January 8th, 2026 at 11:56 am
I mean you could probably put the best coaches in the world around Bowles and he would still find a way to screw it up. Guy can’t coach his way out of a paper bag. So no really expecting any of this to work. We will be here this time next year talking about a complete re build.

Rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic
January 8th, 2026 at 11:57 am
Lincoln Riley makes around 11 million per year. Why the hell would he leave that to be the OC of a team that will pay him 3 million per year and if promoted he’ll get a whooping raise to 5 million. This is the same reason Coen left last year. Until the Glazers put up some coin for the coaching staff we’ll continue to get mediocre coaches and mediocre results.
January 8th, 2026 at 11:58 am
Newbies don’t understand
But we are in Leeman Bennett territory of dysfunction!
FA’s are going to avoid this like the plague it is!
Go to Houston Mike Evans and catch that Super Bowl Touchdown you are missing!
January 8th, 2026 at 11:58 am
Was just thinking that there’s only 1 thing worse than Todd Bowles controlling the Bucs’ defense this year, and that’s him controlling the Bucs’ offense.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:01 pm
Todd mettle’s around in OC’s business too much. We’ll have to settle for some long shot first time play caller again. Unless one of these legit OC’s get some assurances that Bowles sticks to his side of the ball.

Yes, I CAN say you weren’t right. You have zero evidence that money had anything to do with retaining Bowles.
To the contrary, there is a report that the Glazers reached out to John Harbaugh’s agent and only lost interest when it became clear that Harbaugh wanted to bring in his own GM.
If the Glazers were concerned about money, there is a zero chance they would have had ANY interest in Harbaugh. He will not come cheaply.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:02 pm
“ Joe doesn’t think Bowles has any leverage these days.”
Assuming you’re correct, then why bother rehiring Bowles, if he can’t even be trusted to hire his own staff?
Don’t get me wrong. I agree on both counts. He has no leverage, and he can’t be trusted. This is gonna get worse before it gets better.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:02 pm
Great OC performance next year will assume the HC job either here or elsewhere. Todd is not that safe next year end. They are not paying him top money.

Lincoln Riley signed a 10 YEAR – $100 MILLION CONTRACT
It doesn’t end until 2030.
Don’t even joke about this one. I’m a Duck and we love Lincoln down there at USC. They have another 4 years out of contention and we get great transfers from his failed system.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:04 pm
Tom Moore just retired hell even he wants away from toilet Bowles…
January 8th, 2026 at 12:12 pm

January 8th, 2026 at 12:13 pm
Arians needs to retire as well. No more golf cart rides
January 8th, 2026 at 12:13 pm
What bad Bucs said. Two-way street with the coach on a hot seat. Do a good job as OC and you’re golden. Either elevated after he’s fired, or other opportunities. Not a bad gig.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:14 pm
Assuming??? You really believe Bowles wanted to have a housecleaning of his staff? If so, you clearly don’t know Bowles.
Sometimes, you like someone so much, you’re willing to overlook that person’s drawbacks and do what you can to mitigate them and help the person out.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:15 pm
Hey if we get back to putting up 30 every week it won’t matter (much) what Todd does
January 8th, 2026 at 12:15 pm
Most assistants And coordinators get signed to 2-year guaranteed contracts. And as mentioned, the elevation to HC is very real. It’s happened here before.

Joe, yes, baker and kingsbury are fine. They patched it up when baker was at Carolina. Apparently, bakers dad was “ that dad” who injected himself a bit too much while baker was at Texas tech. It wore thin. But, baker commented that he respects kingsbury .
January 8th, 2026 at 12:22 pm
It HAS to be someone who’s an aggressive play caller. Even if Bowels doesn’t like it, too bad. He’s not calling offense, and can barely call defense. This team has WAY too much talent on offense (minus some linemen and tight ends) to play like they did last season.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:23 pm
Are we done hiring OC’s that have never called plays before? That would be an upgrade if we have someone with exprience.

Beeej Says:

If Baker is healthy, along with our o-line & WRs, and we bring on a great TE, and bring in the right OC, the offense would be unstoppable, and we’d put up 30 or more points on anyone. We just need the defense to be average, and we’d be able to play with anybody.
I know that Bowles isn’t the greatest coach, but I believe the team can still go deep into the playoffs if we upgrade our coaching staff (especially special teams!) and our talent on defense. I’m confident the Glazers believe that as well. They’re not going to fire Bowles unless they can bring in a clear upgrade.
The fact that they reached out to Harbaugh’s agent shows they’re open to that.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:29 pm
At this point The most dysfunctional franchise in the league. 2026 is shaping up to be one of the worst in franchise history. Congrats to the Glazer boys and girls

Most people are forgetting the fact that Mayfield was still a question mark and most people’s eyes when Monken was available
January 8th, 2026 at 12:38 pm
Give me Dan Mullen. He is one of the best offensive minds in college football, but doesn’t want to be in college football with all the recruiting nonsense, he builds his offense to his personnel better than anyone.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:38 pm
Quack attack. Get the Oregon OC.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:39 pm
I retract my earlier post. Too many breakfast beers.
Not going to make a difference unless / until the pregnant failure and his fake culture and incompetent coaching skills are nestled into a cushy retirement job at Temple University, far away from One Buc Place.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:41 pm
Joe
My post said I agree he has no leverage.
So you’re saying we kept an incompetent coach be cause we like him?
Talk about a cupcake organization.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:47 pm
Need DC coordinator as much
January 8th, 2026 at 12:47 pm
LINCOLN RILEY!? Yeah, RIGHT LoL… With ONLY about 7-YEARS AND prob close to around $80-MILLION DOLLARS (that would have to be ‘bought-out’) remaining on his ($11.5-MIL PER YEAR) contract!!!! Annnnddd, I believe they GAVE HIM like a $6-MILLION HOME included, when he first got there, if I remember correctly. PLUS, MANY other perks. ALSO, with THE #1 Recruiting Class coming onto campus for next fall. To accept THE OC JOB for the BUCS!? Under Jason LICKT AND Todd BOWLES!? I’m not even reading this.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:50 pm
Ok Mike McDaniel is now available ,, snatch him up,,, as we have seen and as we now know , expert play callers don’t grow on trees,,, same sentiment for Diabol
January 8th, 2026 at 12:53 pm
sh**tshow
January 8th, 2026 at 12:57 pm
Won’t be Kliff he got fired because he didn’t run the ball enough and ran a lot of no huddle. Todd is not going for that.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:57 pm
New OC has a ready made offense to walk into. A couple of guards and your set. If you can keep Todd out of your business, you have a quick stepping stone to a HC gig. Todd’s presence has no bearing on the opportunity. Lame duck gives you a leg up to the Buc’s job. If you don’t cave to turtle man.
January 8th, 2026 at 12:58 pm
@ Corn Says: “An experience OC like Monken or McDaniel ready to be a head coach already would see Bowles on the hotseat as an opportunity for them to advance, unlike green coordinators who know they’d be jettisoned when eventually Bowles does get fired.”
Yeah, BUT just to be launched HIMSELF at the end of the season, when the next new GM is hired.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:03 pm
The OC job may be attractive to coaches, because they may be thinking if the Bucs start out 1-7 or 2-6 they can right the ship after the Bucs fire Bowles midway through the season.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:04 pm
ST coordinator got the boot!
January 8th, 2026 at 1:04 pm
So we are cleaning house on offense but special teams and defense are still intact. The offense was at least average in spite of all the injuries. The defense has been at the bottom for years and special team not so special even with good kickers. Sounds bass ackwards to me!!
January 8th, 2026 at 1:05 pm
The GIANTS is the much better job with Dart, Nabers, and the 5th-overall pick, especially if they can also ‘re-sign’ Wan’Dale… IF, McDaniel gets his choice between THEM and THE BUCS. 💯 Without a DOUBT. It’s just not even CLOSE.

So wait Joe because they like Bowles they risk setting this franchise back a couple years, that’s so reckless. Since when was this about liking someone, this is a what have you done for me lately league, and Bowles has shown NOTHING the past two seasons. Even when we had Coen, HE carried the team with his offense, Bowles was bad that season as well.

Yeah, okay then… Without ANY context, depth, or real substance given. Canales GOT LUCKY. NO ONE else was taking THAT JOB with THAT OWNER. At least NO ONE who was an already ‘well established’ HC (and that was very well known at the time). And, Coen well… Come on. HE WAS ELITE and the ONLY reason for Bowles getting his extension in the first place. Obviously, SAVED HIS JOB. So, The GRIZZ is getting a HC Job next!?:/
January 8th, 2026 at 1:16 pm
What about Mike McDaniel for this list or was he not included b/c of the other post about him? I like him.

YES. THIS 💯. If they’re not wanting to give a damn, or be actively involved with much of anything to do with running a ‘successful’ franchise, by doing everything possible, and whatever IT TAKES to WIN… Then, they should AT THE VERY LEAST, be willing to ‘shell out’ the BIG-BUCKS that it’d take (even going above and beyond the very top of the market), in order to HIRE THE ‘RIGHT’ PEOPLE, WHO CAN. Whatever it takes. Just get it DONE.
January 8th, 2026 at 1:35 pm

January 8th, 2026 at 1:43 pm
good Joe, I could feel good about all of it if Bowles is forced to hire and active defensive play caller as well

I think the only hope is that the Glatzer‘s negotiated with Todd to get him to agree to one more year to try to salvage his joke reputation, retire, then they can sell potential OC DC candidates that the HC job would be there for the taking at the conclusion of 2026.

Can’t say I was wrong..you say the Glazers were never gonna pay 2 HCs, then you go on to tell us how many coaches they’ve axed at ManU and are paying approximately 40mil for.
So which is it?
You make no sense
January 8th, 2026 at 1:54 pm
And, hell… IF Lincoln Reilly ever wanted to jump ship to the NFL, then he could land a HEAD Coaching gig!!!! He would be a TOP CANDIDATE. So, I don’t get how “HE” could even be considered as be a possible OC candidate, to begin with!?
January 8th, 2026 at 1:56 pm
Can we stop thinking Bowles will hire a new DC?? Ain’t happening. Either Bowles stays and will remain HC/DC or they will fire him as well. What exactly would Bowles role be if they hire a DC?
January 8th, 2026 at 2:27 pm
I read over the above names. Does anyone actually believe it even matters. The fragile as glass, soft players who have no passion for winning on the offense will not outscore opponents because the defense will be even worse than this season as hard as that is to believe. The franchise is a joke again and the Brady effect is fully extinguished in Tampa. Welcome the new decade of despair for Bucs fan. Enjoy!!!
January 8th, 2026 at 3:05 pm
Monken is going with Harbaugh to Miami and you’d need a new QB if kliff stepped foot in the building. College guys are just way too much of a swing. Zac Robinson. Maybe BA as a wildcard
January 8th, 2026 at 3:21 pm
This “Bee” character sure doesn’t like baker
January 8th, 2026 at 3:37 pm
Didn’t we just part ways with someone who never called plays in the NFL I think we’re good on that last one too.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:40 pm
Lincoln Riley is a terrible head coach but he is one of the best play Callers In the game.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:42 pm
If they hire Riley, you all will see just what Baker Mayfield can do, yeah let’s lock this thing down. This could be really really good.
January 8th, 2026 at 3:51 pm
Bee is always the idiot who knows zilch about football. They really should block the idiots after they have proven they are idiots. That way the men could converse in peace.
January 8th, 2026 at 4:00 pm
I told YA”ALL! DUHHHHH!! THEY KEEP BOWLES!!!!! next thing fans??? Turn in your season tickets!!!! I’ve told you if enough fans get rid of their season tickets? And they lose that $$$$$ and can’t replace that income? Management has to notice that, hopefully then all the anti Bowles crowd will get their wish. Second Baker and the offense HAS TO HAVE AT LEAST A LIAM COHEN TYPE OC TO FLOURISH, OR THEY”LL GO NOWHERE! AND LASTLY THE DEFENSE HAS TO BE RUN BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE HEADCOACH WITH A TOTALLY DIFFERENT MINDSET!!!!!! AND DEFINITELY FIRE THE DAMN SPECIAL TEAMS COACH!!!! THATS IT IN A NUTSHELL!!!

How about creating some cool off-season storylines and maybe see if Davis Webb (Broncos QB coach) wants to go from Baker’s backup at Oklahoma to being the guy calling plays for him as the Bucs OC? At least it gives us fans something to talk about other than wondering where the compromising pictures Bowles has of people high up the food chain at One Buc Place are stashed.

@ What it is Says: “If they hire Riley, you all will see just what Baker Mayfield can do, yeah let’s lock this thing down. This could be really really good.
Bee is always the idiot who knows zilch about football. They really should block the idiots after they have proven they are idiots. That way the men could converse in peace.”
SERIOUSLY!? I mean, did you NOT READ MY POST(s) on “Lincoln Riley!?” It’s all laid out for ya there, and is very simple for anyone to be able to understand… Yes, EVRN YOU. Since, YOU of all people, are obviously, the VERY LAST ‘person’ who should be commenting on ANYONE ELSE’s supposed “Football Knowledge.”
Uhhhhh, Duhhhh… Um, “IF they hire Lincoln Riley, let’s go lock him down, this will be good” LMAO. Yah, ohhhhkaaaayyy… ABSURD. You don’t know what the hell you’re even talking about, dude. It’s delusional.

@ What it is – SO, he’s just going to ‘walk-away’ from prob about $80-MILLION that is FULLY-GUARANTEED (that the Bucs would first, have to ‘buy-out’), PLUS all of his MANY other perks, AND his $6+MILLION HOME that was given to him when he was first hired!? And, to do WHAT… Just to go be OC at the BUCS, under Todd Bowles & Jason LICKT and his QB being BAKER Freaking MAYFIELD!? When, HE HAS The #1-RANKED ‘Recruiting-Class’ in the ENTIRE COUNTRY, set to arrive on campus next Fall. Ohhhhkaaaayyy, Thennnnnn. CRAZY TOWN, Man.

BM was 8th in passing attempts over 20+ yards and 11th in passing attempts over 40+ yards. Not seeing any completion percentage on long passes but he does appear to consistently push the ball down field.

Nate Scheelhaase is my preference and should have been hired last cycle instead of Grizzard.
Besides Monken, there’s also Dan Pitcher who also turned down the Bucs that year to stay with the Bengals. He would be another good option and probably would leave to be an OC anywhere else.
QB coach Thad Lewis would be my 4th option and only in house candidate. He interviewed for the job and with other teams last off-season. Grizzard should have been fired in December and would have like to have seen Thad Lewis ad OC for a couple of games.

@ What it is – I already know which party YOU vote for! Because… YOU just ‘accepted’ what you were TOLD, even without thinking FIRST. No substance, data, context, reality, or common sense given. ZERO depth. Just EMPTY. And, “FACTS” be damned. ONLY, because it was what YOU WANTED to be true.

I’ll bet Carberry could call a good game. Seriously.

All good options, just not sold on Grubb and Riley has a lot at his disposal since USC has become a NIL giant
January 8th, 2026 at 7:57 pm
Grizz was the scape goat. Dude had two back up guards, starting RB out, rookie #3 receiver starting, late round wrs at #2, banged up QB. He had to go but this should’ve been a whole staff redo.

Josh Grizzard Wants Bucs Offense To Evolve
Rod Munch Says:
February 6th, 2025 at 9:25 pm
Uh… the offensive scheme and play calling last year was insanely good.
If by ‘evolve’ you mean adding in some new plays – sure, sounds great. But if ‘evolve’ means we’re going to trick people by running up the middle on every first down because no one would ever think you’d run up the middle 200 times in a row to open the season – no thanks.

Good research Joe, but why would anyone on this list work for an old D coordinator with 6 out of 9 losing seasons and a very hot seat? Most of these names could just wait a year and interview for head coach without a year under Bowles.

I don’t get why you don’t hire an AI to do the play calling. Just input every play from last year, every situation, what Coen did, and the AI could perfectly recreate his play calling – and you’re paying what, $20 a month? Seems like a deal to me.

Last year, in the short passing game, Baker excelled – and when he played poorly, it was almost always when he was trying to go deep and would hold the ball forever and get himself in trouble – or was just flat out inaccurate. While you need to take some deep shots to keep defenses honest, the Bucs should continue being mainly a short passing team until defenses can stop it.
