Morning Cup Of Joe

January 6th, 2026

Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.

Distraction of the Day

That dumbass linebacker who may have cost the Bucs a playoff berth in a loss two weeks ago at Carolina, and perhaps cost people jobs, was cut on Friday by the Bucs and he got signed by the Colts. Hope for his sake his smartens up. Idiot. [PFT]

Ranking NFL playoff teams. [CBS]

Dan Campbell has an interesting grade he gave his team for the 2025 season. [Yahoo!]

Tua fully endorses Dolphins trading him. [NFL]

Houston Nutt with some cool stories about playing for Jimmy Johnson. [TikTok]

How the hell is Matty Ice going to successfully run the Dixie Chicks football operations if he is working a side gig with CBS? [Awful Announcing]

TV networks ready to break out the checkbooks for Mike Tomlin. [Front Office Sports]

Texas Tech signed Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby to a $5 million deal for the 2026 season. That’s more than Shedeur Sanders is making in Cleveland. The good news? If quarterbacks stay in college longer because they can make more money than being an NFL benchwarmer, that should lead to less quarterback busts in the NFL, which means better quarterback play. We live in a football world. The sooner people embrace this, the better we will be as a people. [Outkick]

Tomlin would be awesome as a sport analyst in the future.

Tua seems like a great guy, however he has had a number of concussions and has been struggling on the field. They have a great coach and they will make changes too. Maybe it’s time for Tua to do something else in football for his own future health.

Campbell is way over the top. Too much drama, whining, and outbursts. Another one blaming the team. When do their fans start blaming him? Ya, he will have to sit home and watch the games, just like many of us too.

Hey Joe. Do you think the Glasers are waiting to see what’s going to happen to Harbaugh???

bullock will go on to be a star, he never got on the field except for his bone head play… he was not that guy- actually a mean lb we could’ve used

i think the glazers are waiting, maybe till after sb to see what the upgrades are. based on todd’s record baker’s inconsistency and strength of schedule 26 looks bleak and a return to the dark ages of the lost decade besides the south nfc getting better qb play. time to cut ties with the bucs or face many ruined weekends

  4. HC Grover Says:

Fan vets from the 70’s like me are used to Baaad Bucs and Baaad coaching. It gets to where you expect nothing and enjoy wearing your head bag of ridicule. Those days may be back under Bowzos guidance. Hard to find a good head bag now though. DO NOT WEAR PLASTIC HEAD BAGS> Paper only.

  5. Donny’s Swollen Ankles Says:

Speakeasy vid ~ If you’re going to bury someone at least get his name right. John Harbaugh coaches the Ravens. But who’s cares about details these days.

  6. Razorramone Says:

    MJ, see ya!

  7. Bojim Says:

When did Matty Ice get hair?

  8. Joe Says:

Hey Joe. Do you think the Glasers are waiting to see what’s going to happen to Harbaugh???

It’s possible. Joe’s not going to pretend to know what the Glazer Family will do. Joe’s heard some things (fans won’t like) but cannot confirm.

  9. Aqualung Says:

Well, asking how Matty Ice can run football operations while still being a TV talking head is like asking how an overrated defensive coordinator thinks he can still do that job while also pretending to be a head coach.

  10. Crickett Baker Says:

I really liked that Bullock article and I don’t disagree at all; however, none of those referenced coaches won 3 division titles in a row.
