Morning Cup Of Joe

Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said he turned down a $15 billion offer to sell his team. He bought the Dolphins for $1.1 billion. [PFT]
Steelers owner Art Rooney said he was absolutely not expecting Mike Tomlin to walk away from his job this week. [CBS]

Confidence rankings: Who has the best shot to win the Super Bowl? [NFL]
America needs more backyard boxing cards. On a nice day or night, Joe would be happy to walk across the street, six-pack in hand, cough up a $10 bill and watch dudes throw down. Much better entertainment than watching the non-basketball association. #Wholesome [TikTok]
Why is Doug Williams in the news all of a sudden? [SI]
Grunting Tony Romo claims his announcing sucked because he’s been sick. Ah, so all the grunting is to muffle the sound of passing gas? [Outkick]
David Pollack tired of the Curt Cignetti hype. Sure, why should Cignetti get glossed? Cignetti only took the losingest football program in college history and in two years has them one win from a national title, which would be the greatest, most monumental salvage project in all of American sports. Nah, he doesn’t deserve the glossing. He hasn’t earned it. He ain’t Nick Saban! He doesn’t coach in the SEC! Joe promises you if Clark Lea had Vanderbilt in the same position as Indiana, Pollack would be crowing about Lea so much you’d swear Lea turned water into wine. [Awful Announcing]

#Browns aren’t that far off IMO, which definitely makes the HC job an attractive one. But I think it’s also tailor made for a specific candidate to step right in and thrive 👇🏾 pic.twitter.com/eiI6EYQ8W2

Good CBS Sports article. The Rooneys seem to be genuine owners and were going to give Tomlin another season too. And then being surprised by Tomlin’s leaving. A lot of years between them. Only my opinion, but I don’t think they will get another longevity head coach like this again. It will be like many other teams with HC turnovers.
Tiring of Tony Romo. I liked him early on as an announcer, but now he has worn out that welcome.

LOL Back when I lived in Port Tampa you could find a real fight most any day just by walking to school Joe. Sadly we cant ask the Hulkster to verify that but it is a true statement.

Link takes me to SI’s Mike Tomlin coaching search Joe.
Did find this link there though. Commanders Hire Son of a Franchise Legend As New Quarterbacks Coach. Congrats to DJ. Good catch though Joe!

Curt Cignetti found a model that works; 5th and 6th year 3-star players who are 22-23y outperform 18y 5-star players. Mendoza helps too, that guy could be a generational talent.
