Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.

Distraction of the Day

Dixie Chicks to release Kirk Cousins. [PFT]

It’s wild to Joe that one year removed from getting to the NFC title game, the Commandos launch both coordinators. Kliff Kingsbury won’t be unemployed long. [CBS]

Ranking the head coach openings. [Yahoo!]

Shedeur Sanders doesn’t seem all that broken up that Kevin Stefanski got run by the Browns. [NFL]

How would Nick Saban defend Dirk Koetter’s offense? [TikTok]

Saint Lamar Jackson pushed for John Harbaugh and Todd Monken to get run? Well, isn’t that special? [SI]

Josh Allen is basically the 21st-century version of Jim Kelly, right? [Outkick]

Grok vs. On3. Someone more clever than Joe found a way to use AI to get around paywalls. This of course has pissed off On3 suits. LOL Cool! [Awful Announcing]

The Royals missed the deadline to join the Chiefs by moving 23 miles across the state line to Kansas for a new stadium. Kansas state officials have signaled they have no interest in creating a new deadline for the Royals. [Front Office Sports]

While we wait for white smoke to rise from Todd Bowles’ meeting with Team Glazer, how about a classic Pete Puma vs. Bugs Bunny battle? [TikTok]

Annie is on fire this week. Right on about everything, especially the refs.

Wow, Kirk will go with a boat-load of money. He should retire now and enjoy his family. He would make a great high school coach and even college. Kirk is good in mentoring and helping rookies.

A team will pick up Stefanski. It won’t be the Bucs. We have Baker now, because of the Browns big error in judgement that Stefanski was part of. He and Baker have history and it isn’t pretty. Baker is still our QB.

Honestly rooting for Shedeur at this point. Does it have something to do with the fact that he took Dillon Gabriel’s job? Maybe. How that 5’9 lefty that can’t stay on the field for 3 weeks made any NFL roster is beyond me, saving a nice bottle for the day he gets cut.

Appreciate your appreciation! Like anything else, you have to decide what it’s worth to you. Older folks remember paying $10 a month 25 years ago for a Tampa Bay Times subscription, even with the Internet available for news, and that was probably worth close to $20 in today’s cash. They do some nice things but wouldn’t trust/read for NFL coverage. Too many better options.–Joe

    @Jude

Before I was aware of the Baker-Stefanski relationship I wanted the Bucs to go all in on him. What about Mike McDaniel? Am I looney for that siggestion. Look what he did when the fully healthy Dolphins were bought in with him (I choose to ignore lack of playoff success and the past 2 years of Dolphins football).

A NFL team with a current head coach has reached out to John Harbaugh. Maybe the Buccaneers?

  5. Razorramone Says:

Harbaugh, Kingsbury and Flores? Me likey!! What did The Washington Commodes expect with Daniel’s? Lamar is always hurt and he’s way bigger and faster than Daniel’s. Too much running around gets you sooner or later. Go Bucs!! Go Bolts!! Huge win last night against Avs and Coopers 1000 game coached. That’s an organeyezation.

Baker Bowl – I really like Mike McDaniel and fully agree with you. He would be a good fit.

Read a few comments in previous articles about the Bucs not being an attractive destination for a HC. Well there are only 32 of these jobs available, I think the upper hand is with the team searching for a coach to get the right one. It doesn’t matter who the QB is or the roster for that matter if the new HC, GM and owners are on board about how to fix things. I think Baker is a more attractive draw as a starter than far more out there, I say top 6%. Harbaugh is the only coach I would want to see come in that is a “retread”. Other than that I think we need young blood coach’s to go with the young blood players. Just because someone has a distinguished track record doesn’t mean it will continue in this league, it is evolving but in some ways remains the same, need to find the right blend of the 2.

Anyone else think that that Colts lady needs a tanning bed? Looks like someone has made here up with the morgue in mind she is so pasty.

You must not have been around for the “Youngry” years in Buc history.

Yep Here since the begining. Seen all the messes, went to the messes, had season tickets, paid the seat deposits and played the sport, for what it’s worth. so I been here.

D-Rome – Since the 90s for me and watching their 50th documentary I learned so much more too. That is why I am worried either way and more cautious. I don’t want us to make a huge error and be worse off, including all the salaries. And on the other hand, hoping for more. No matter what happens, Go Bucs!
