Mike McDaniel Will Be At One Buc Palace This Week

January 15th, 2026

Friday interview scheduled.

You want to know who the serious candidates for new Bucs offensive coordinator are? How did they interview?

Yesterday, per Jenna Laine of ESPN, Baltimore offensive coordinator and former Bucs offensive assistant Todd Monken was at One Buc Palace for an interview.

And again, per Laine, on Friday, former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel will be at One Buc Palace for a sitdown with Bucs brass to see if he is worthy of calling plays for the Bucs this fall.

No fooling around with Zoom. The Bucs are bringing both McDaniel and Monken into the building.

This fall will be a big year for a lot of people at One Buc Palace for a variety of reasons. So Joe hopes the Bucs can lure the best candidate available whether that is McDaniel or Monken or some coach not on anyone’s radar right now.

The Bucs need to make a playoff run this fall. For a lot of reasons.

John Harbaugh hired by the Newyork Giants. I hope we get McDaniel as OC since we’re stuck with Bowles

  2. BillyBucco Says:

Gonna have to pay him more than Bowles makes to get him.
Tell me Todd won’t feel threatened by McDaniel.
As much as I want him to be our OC something tells me the chemistry with Bowels won’t be there.
I can see Todd with Monken because he has never been a HC.
What happens when Bowels butts heads with Mike because he questions what Todd is doing as a HC and the decisions he makes as the HC?

  3. Tye Says:

Seeing IF Monken goes with Harbaugh to the Giants…
going to be VERY INTERESTING to see what leftover, scraps of an OC the Bucs end up with!

  4. adam from ny Says:

    mcdaniel or monken…either or…

    robinson as a 3rd option…

    no to anyone else…

if you don’t get those 3, leave the position open ended, and have baker freelance and audible all plays at the line of scrimmage like a freakin’ maniac

  5. ModHairKen Says:

Why would either Monken or McDaniel come here?

    For a one year gig?

To coach a clearly sinking ship?

The Bucs will hire nobody of any repute. It will be a retread. Someone who has already failed.

    Like Bowles.

  6. Ricky Says:

Joe why no mention of White saying that Bowles should hire a DC? Still protecting him I see, needs some more interviews with head coach i guess.

I’ve asked myself this question. Then I realized its almost a no loose situation. Best case is the Bucs are a SB contender and McD can have his choice of HC opportunities. Worse case the offense has a Renaissance type of year similar to ’24 bc of McD and the defense is bad. Bucs fire Bowles and McD’s the heir apparent. McD becomes the Bucs HC

Who wouldn’t want to come to Tampa to learn from a DEFENSIVE GURU like Toilet Bowels!
    WOOO!

Senor harry im so glad at least someone reading these articles has some dam sense about them

Agree big time with “Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says”.

McD can go to a place with weapons and a place that has been proven to turn first time OC’s into head coaches after one year. If he works his wizardry and turns the offense back into a top 5 unit he’s looking at a head coaching job of his choice, whether it’s somewhere else or in Tampa.

Mcdaniel for oc and then listen to everyone on the planet including rashad white and hire a dc. I think a lot of teams are using Raheem to meet the rooney rule, bring him back to tampa and lets do work

I think Monkin or McDaniel would be a great OC from the Bucs. McDaniel would fit better as a OC and then becoming HC if Bowles fails or retires. Monkin is right at 60 and I have my question about why hasn’t he became a HC. Some guys or just better at coordinators than HCs. As for McDaniel, he fit that mold of young OC who could move up to HC. The only draw back I have with McDaniel is, I am hearing a lot about he was a little soft with the Dolphins. Don’t know if there’s any truth to that but where there’s smoke there’s usually fire.

  12. Fred McNeil Says:

McDaniels might actually stick around even if he turns the offense into a great unit again. If we don’t hire an INDEPENDENT defensive coordinator the defense will certainly be another keystone cops disaster and McDaniels could have his shot right here.

  13. Fred McNeil Says:

I don’t think Tua was much to work with in Miami. I did love what Mike did with that running game, though.

Awesome news!! It is a great idea having him at One Buc too. Show him everything along with the Tampa Bay vibe up close. Crossing fingers!

  15. Ted Says:

McDaniel will go wherever Salah is hired as Head Coach, end of story.
