Kay Adams: “Todd Bowles Is The Guy”

January 9th, 2026

Defends Todd Bowles.

Joe doesn’t know one Bucs fan who has a gripe about Kay Adams.

How could anyone have a gripe about Kay Adams? She’s really, really, really has to try to get Joe to turn on her.

Alas, Joe has a hunch several Bucs fans will lose a little respect for Adams after she went to bat for embattled Bucs coach Todd Bowles on her weekday show “Up and Adams,” seen on FanDuel TV.

Adams applauded Team Glazer for not being “trigger-happy” and launching Bowles, who she said has mad respect in the league. She added that Bowles has way too much street cred to get tossed aside after a half-season went sideways.

She also suggested too many people are smitten with trying to get their team “Ben Johnson’ed,” hoping a hot shot coordinator can come in and instantly make a team a Super Bowl contender.

While Adams made it clear she thought the Bucs had a rotten year and Bowles has a “mess” he needs to clean up, after three straight NFC South titles she says Bowles earned the right to see if he can mop up that mess and right the pirate ship.

  1. MadMax Says:

The guy who will get us a top 5 pick next year 🙂

  2. Lakeland Says:

That’s the opinion of most ” Logical” thinking people

I’m 100% sure the Glazers feel the same way
The man definitely earned another year to right the ship
And for the people who have a different opinion

    Who cares

  3. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    [sad violin begins to crescendo]

  4. Mike Says:

The lady us totally correct, Todd Bowles earned another chance. If these fans think finding winning coaches is easy, especially a coach who’s had a couple of OCs poached by other teams, then then don’t know squat about football. Bowles has been a rock, a winner.

  5. ATLBuc Says:

I’m sure that true fans who want Bowles replaced are considering more than this years collapse. His defense has been awful since he arrived. The run defense used to be good but now it’s garbage. It appears as if he has lost the locker room. His return means that the majority of the players stood up for him in their exit interviews.

  6. Ted Says:

It’s about winning period. Bowles was forced to fire several coaches in order to remain HBC of the Bucs and he capitulated. Hopefully, he makes prudent decisions and the Bucs return to the playoffs in 2026. Having a coach that is respected throughout the NFL is what is important to some posers but all that should matter is winning at least 10 each and every season, end of story.

  7. Bee Says:

This upcoming season is about losing. What’s the definition of insanity again?

Bowles was retained to get a top 10 pick so the Bucs can clean house and start fresh with a new HC and QB in 2027. Might get a new GM too. Bowles is a loser and will continue to do what he does best….lose.

  8. Permanently Moderated Says:

Kay is as knowledgeable as she is beautiful, but she’s dead wrong on this opinion. No way Bowles has mad respect for his coaching abilities.

  9. heyjude Says:

Great video and Kay has solid points. Yes, he needs to clean up the mess. And by the actions from yesterday, it’s happening. Also, she talked about Bakers injuries and listed them on the screen. He has down time now to rehab and get stronger. In agreement with Kay.

  10. TBBucFan Says:

Retooling the coaching staff was an absolute necessity. Sorry to see Tom retire but the man is 87. Grizzard didn’t get it done and we don’t know the details. I’m surprised that Strong hasn’t received more air time. How the mighty has fallen. There’s no doubt that the Glazers are taking a risk in keeping Bowles but I respect the decision. Certainly in light of the candidates that are out there. The reality is that all the negativity seen on this page and in social media still represents a pittance of the dollars spent from fans who actually attend the games. Fans are fans. Tomlin gets the boos. So too did Harbaugh. Belichick too. Bowles will never win popularity contests but extremely few coaches do. Nature of the position. Let’s face it: you have simpletons out there who are upset that Todd runs a 34 instead of a 43 when half the league runs the 34 and half the teams in the playoffs run the 34. Sheer foolishness. Just win baby.

  11. HC Grover Says:

    She Woke

  12. Newbie Says:

Hey Kay.. Nice hot take but you are dead wrong. You will be eating crow when this franchise finishes dead last in nfc south and maybe wins 5 games next season.

  13. Lessismore Says:

    Here’s to hope!
Wish it would actually help us win some football games.
I was hoping the team didn’t make a U-turn back to the decade before Tony – the decade where the best part of the season was April (the draft) when Hope fills the air until September – when reality sets in.

We did have some good drafts tho.

  14. Juan hang lo Says:

Since when did men start giving a $h!t about what women think about football?

  15. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

Todd blows. Big f-ing deal if Kay Adams is attractive. Bowles sucks. So if halfwit eye candy talent sticks up for a s@!t coach we should listen? These logic behind this is stupid. Kay Adams thinks……big F-ing deal. She should be giving make up tips. Anyone who watches her for football info is a tool.

  16. BigBucFanJoe Says:

A half season went sideways? How about a mediocre eight year record as a head coach?

  17. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

Let’s go get some info on it from Laura Rutledge and the chipmunk Colleen from the nfl network. Stupidest s@!t ever Joe.

  18. Kenton Smith Says:

Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad. Maybe you’re a tool? I’ve seen her interview Licht and Bowles and many of our players. They seem comfortable talking to her and you can tell by the smiles on their faces. It’s a gift she has and calling her names, like halfwit eye candy, isn’t changing that fact.

  19. Warrenfb12 Says:

What street cred? Being a loser and saying there’s nothing else coaches can do?

  20. FortMyersDave Says:

I am a big Kay Adams fan but on this one I am going to have to agree to disagree with the luscious Kay.

BTW, Todd Wright said in his podcast that there could be more coaching vacancies when Buffalo, Green Bay, San Fran and Pitt finish their season and perhaps something could happen with Tampa just like Miami after Harbaugh got launched. Anything is possible and the Glazers could move on from Todd, they were interested in Harbaugh until they realized Jason would have to go.

  21. SoCalBucsFan79 Says:

This franchise has lost 466 times over the course of 50 seasons. Some of you feel entitled that because we had a blip of success over the last half-decade that we deserve more than what this franchise has historically performed for it’s fans? Most of the loudest complainers probably weren’t around for a fraction of those 466 losses and don’t know season after season of actual disappointment of losing 10 or more games (26 times) or missing the playoffs (35 times). If this window closes, it might not open again for awhile, but most of you will still be around when it opens again, maybe not the grognards over retirement age. Yet, too many of you act like mayflies where you allow the fleeting time you have be dictated by the success or failure of others, who you personally exert very little influence on any of the actual field performance. This probably is not a healthy hobby for you. The ones who’ve enjoyed the winning the most, were the ones that stayed loyal through all the losing, because we don’t know if and how long this winning can last. Those of us who been around 12 and 14 season playoff droughts, know this all too well. 8-9 and being in the playoff hunt all season is way above the franchises median performance. 2 Super Bowls over 50 seasons isn’t as bad a some of the other franchises who never had the opportunity or tasted a single Super Bowl crown. never to see Lombardi again. We are just above the average for Super Bowl victories, just not the outliers like New England, Pittsburgh, Dallas, San Francisco, Kansas City, Green Bay, New York Giants. It’s weird for some of the vitriol thrown at Todd Bowles and historically Lovie Smith, Raheem Morris and even Tony Dungy. I can’t say the same ill-will has been given to Dirk Koetter, Greg Schiano, Sam Wyche, Richard Williamson, Ray Perkins, Leeman Bennett who’s W-L balance sheets aren’t in the same neighborhood as our current HC.

  22. CapeBuc Says:

All I’ll say is you can tell who watches every snap of every Bucs game and who doesn’t.

  23. JohnQCitizen Says:

Well that pretty much sums up the year. All of the fans are wrong. Lots of coaches fired because of ineffectiveness. Todd did nothing during the year to correct the Defence. Special teams wasn’t close to special, etc, etc, etc. Kay flips her hair and lets us know she’s right and we’re all wrong.
    Thanks for the insight.

  24. mg Says:

just another chic sound bite. Fire the loser.

  25. BucsNbeer Says:

If he earned another year, he wouldn’t have anyone loafing or being a locker room cancer.
My understanding is that the head coach is responsible for his position coaches. He allowed poor tackling, poor special teams, poor offensive play calling. And the list goes on.

  26. wlliam Says:

that point of view may lose her some readers or watchers/ shes lost this one

  27. Lefty R Says:

What is Kay Adams talking about?

    Ben Johnson’ed?

I think the Goop Kay puts in her hair is finally affecting her!!!

She should lay off for awhile and then reconsider her opinion!!!

The Buccaneer Defense sucked all year, I want someone to Un-Suck it and Bowles ain’t the guy to do it, nor is Ben Johnson

Fire Todd Bowles now, Todd can go run a kielbasa stand in South Tampa and give guided tours at the Zoo!!! Maybe improve his public image a bit and let the Buccaneers repair the damage he’s inflicted and help the fandom heal!

  28. jw94buc Says:

Bowles only chance to save his ass with fans. The guy better hit the lottery and get Garrett, Crosby and Draft another pass rusher. Spend the money and get the right guy. Don’t save a dime and get another Hassan….

  29. Darin Says:

Yes Kay. Ben Johnson would have been great. Liam Coen too. Naaaaa lets just stick with a guy who went under 500 with Tom Brady under center. I was better at game time management when I was 12 than he is now. Thats not a joke either. I can’t watch the bowels show anymore. Cmon glazers cancel the reruns!

  30. It’s Exciting!!!! Says:

    Yeah Baby!!!!!!

    2027 Super Bowl Again!!!!!

  31. It’s Exciting!!!! Says:

    Please bring back LEFTWICH!!!!!!!

  32. SteveK Says:

    Lakeland,

    “Logical”?

Interesting choice there. It’s your opinion. Not necessarily logical.

Dungy and Gruden both got fired when accomplishing more.

It better get right on defense next year, or their is only one “logical” outcome.

  33. VOT Says:

Come this time next year, we will writing a lot of I told you so comments…Todd is a joke

  34. StormyInFl Says:

Bowles has so much “mad respect ” that no one bothered to offer him their HC position while he was Bruce’s DC. The only way that happened was Bruce manipulating the hiring process by resigning far too late into the offseason, forcing the Glazers to pick between BA’s handpicked jobs program coaches Bowles and Leftwich (Bad and even worse).

This is almost as bad as take as the “Bowles is a defensive genius ” nonsense.

  35. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

  37. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

Can people on this site please stop with the “true fans are blind and dumb and will do anything for their team” mentality? Dolts.

  38. Logic Says:

Questioning peoples’s logic when your in the extreme minority is the gaslighting dumb people do when they have no logic.

  39. Frank Pillow Says:

This might be ownership’s most colossal blunder—and that’s saying something after Schiano and Lovie. Don’t try to spin this as a 1/2 season slide. This team was bad from the jump. They caught all the breaks and lots of luck during 6-2. Anyone looking at this team objectively would see that they never played complimentary football. Never! Teams was horrible every game. Defense was putrid when it mattered most. Offense rode on one stellar performance that required the QB to play a perfect game. This is a bad team. Todd was a bad coach. His fear filled reversion to turtle by the end of the year showed his true nature/character.

    Own it and move on.

  40. It’s Exciting!!!! Says:

Bring back Mike Smith for DC. Please let’s end the torture!!!!

  41. TTBucs Says:

Need to find something else to cry about you wussies. Bowles is here next deal with it ….. GO BUCS

  42. Aqualung Says:

    Wrong, Kay.

  43. Bucman Says:

If Bowles does not hire a real DC the team will tank unless they score over 40 points per game

  44. DoooshLaRue Says:

Joe doesn’t know one Bucs fan who has a gripe about Kay Adams.
    _________

    You do now.
I used to love her until she effed up her face and went from natural beauty to that fake Kardashian look sh!t.

  45. Hodad Says:

I have a gripe Joe. To much face work, and teets are kinda small.

  46. NDog is an Idiot Says:

Fire The Cannons!!! Right at Bowles and Bud Licht

  47. Ben Says:

Kay Adams can have her opinion, but when she talks about “earned the right to clean up his mess” literally he has only won 2 more games ever. So….what mess are we talking about, this is what we get with Todd Bowles. He cannot be a 12 Win HC. He just doesnt have what it takes and that is fine. Plenty of HCs turn out to be glorified coordinators, and that is what Todd has always been.

  48. jcscycles Says:

I never saw so many new posters before.

Gee- wonder if they are really someone else…

  49. Stallworth Says:

You think this year is bad? Next year this team really comes off the rails. Top 5 pick territory. This is a sinking ship and LVD and ME know that. Neither will be back next year and those are the vocal leaders in the locker room.

  50. Outrigger Says:

It’s a lot more than one bad half season. Look at Todd’s body of work. He’s a below 500 career coach. He’s been our defensive coordinator and the defense has been in the bottom half of the league since. Every season it has regressed.

  51. Curse of Gruden Says:

    D E I Kay strikes again.

  52. Kenton Smith Says:

Wouldnt pay a single Buc to see this squad. Let’s see here. Your comments today began with “Todd blows…Bowles sucks…s@!T coach. Amidst your total rundown of a football reporter with a platform approximately a million times greater than yours. Yep. I’ll stand by my earlier comment. Tool. And a Tool needs lube. I sure the heck don’t.

  53. Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad Says:

    Kenton –

Here is a clear, measured, and eloquent case—focused on leadership, performance, and organizational direction—rather than emotion or fan frustration:

    ⸻

Todd Bowles should not be retained as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because the trajectory of the team under his leadership suggests stagnation rather than progress, particularly in the areas that most define a successful modern NFL organization: adaptability, accountability, and situational excellence.

First, Bowles’ teams have consistently underperformed in high-leverage moments. Late-game management, in-game adjustments, and decision-making in critical situations have repeatedly cost the Buccaneers winnable games. These are not isolated incidents but recurring patterns that reflect a head coach who struggles to elevate the team when preparation gives way to pressure.

Second, while Bowles is respected as a defensive mind, the defense itself has failed to consistently perform at a championship level relative to the talent invested. Communication breakdowns, poor third-down efficiency, and an inability to close games have persisted across multiple seasons. When a head coach’s core specialty does not translate into a clear competitive advantage, it raises legitimate questions about overall effectiveness.

Third, the team’s offensive identity has lacked cohesion and innovation. Frequent coordinator changes, conservative game plans, and an overall risk-averse approach have limited the offense’s ability to dictate games rather than react to them. In today’s NFL, where offensive creativity and adaptability are paramount, this has placed the Buccaneers at a structural disadvantage against better-coached opponents.

Finally, Bowles’ leadership style—calm and steady though it may be—has not consistently translated into urgency, discipline, or accountability on the field. Penalties, slow starts, and uneven week-to-week performances suggest a team that is not fully maximizing its potential. For a roster that still contains proven veterans and emerging talent, merely “being competitive” is not a sufficient benchmark.

In sum, retaining Todd Bowles risks accepting mediocrity at a time when the Buccaneers should be defining a new, forward-looking identity. A change in leadership would not be an indictment of Bowles’ character or experience, but rather an acknowledgment that the organization needs a head coach capable of sharper game management, clearer vision, and a higher competitive ceiling.

Eat a frozen bag of Ds

  54. Bojim Says:

Okay but can we get a DC?

  55. gbobucsfan Says:

With all these season ticket holders leaving, I’m looking forward to cheap tickets in 2026!!! (And a stadium full of visiting fans!!)

  56. Aqualung Says:

Maybe the Glazers didn’t watch the games. They need to be strapped into chairs, eyelids glued and taped open Clockwork Orange style, and forced to watch the last nine atrocities on a permanent loop. I doubt Todd is “that man” after they’re finished with an eight hour shift of such “observations.”

  57. Kenton Smith Says:

Wouldn’t pay a single Buc to see this squad. Why couldn’t you have just said that in the first place? Except the part about the frozen bag of Ds.

  58. FormerBucFan Says:

The woke joke nfl in full blown damage control.

  59. srbbucsfan Says:

Our Defensive Coordinator needs to be fired. On many teams that would have happened this week. Unfortunately, the DC is also the Head Coach! And he is too vain and overconfident to replace himself. If the Glazers fire the overrated DC, the lack of discipline that the HC cannot manage goes as well. That would be two problems eliminated with a single stroke. The math is not complicated. Nor is the solution.

Glazers… Are your eyes glazed over? Please listen to the fan base. (Sorry for the mixed metaphor.) We want to win. That makes us objective voices. Please consider what an 0-3 start next season will look like? No good coaching candidates available in October.

As I said once before here… Let the demise of the New York Giants be a cautionary tale.

  60. Ballwin Bucs Fan Says:

I’m so sick of hearing about Bowles’ division championships. What were the team’s records for those? 10-7? 9-8? 8-9?!?!

If you don’t agree with the Super-Football Genius the world simply refers to as Lakeland, your opinion doesn’t matter. He sees greatness in a team most rational people would describe as a train wreck, and believes an 8-9 division-winning team in the weak NFC South and a quick exit in the playoffs is something the team should strive for. He worships our clown of a coach and spurns all who aren’t as delusional as him. Long live Lakeland.

Lakeland, please explain how the defensive guru who has had mediocre defenses for the past 4 years, who refuses to adjust his scheme to suit his players, who ran butter soft practices schedules, an undisciplined team and is responsible for one of the worst mid season collapse in NFL history has “earned” another year?

  74. LakelandSteve Says:

How can anyone be mad at Kay Adam’s?

  75. Bucs4Ever Says:

    Juan Hang lo

Your name should be “Baby Carrot”

  76. Obvious One Says:

The Glazers “Should Have Been” in Front of replacing him Long Before Now! I see plenty speaking or “what’s available” as the excuse. Bowles has been losing for Months and his Defense Has Been a loser For Years! The Glazers should have been WAY AHEAD OF THE PACK… Especially in the “New Blood” arena.. Really NOT INTERESTED in recycling ANY of these proven to be Losing or plain Loser head coaches…. I mean was there Really nobody better than an under .500 Bowels to chose from within 32 teams? Come On Man!

And being that Bowles is Obviously a Literal Lame Duck…. Well it’s MORE LIKELY we’re headed down the Yucs moniker road rather than the Bucs Glory road. Just the Reality… I’m NOT impressed with the ownership AT ALL a d feel it’s time for the Glazers to move on. Malcom has passed away and So Has the Passion for our team.

We need a New Owner. We NEED A NEW INTERESTED AND COMPETITIVE OWNER! This current “ownership group” are absent of any passion for Actually Winning… They are quite Obviously, purely for the money. NOT the WINNING, the PASSION, and Certainly NOT the PRIDE.

  77. Stetematt Says:

Kay is 100% correct. Bowles is fully capable of righting the ship. It all starts with fast, great tackling and coverage linebackers and a revitalized pass rush.

And the ppl talking about D E I are r@cists. Take a good, long look in the mirror. You need it.

  78. BucU Says:

STMatt= We prefer to live in the real world. What a pathetic take.

  79. BucU Says:

  80. BucU Says:

Ugo he can’t answer that question. He’s the type thats totally ok with mediocrity. Except in this case Bowles isn’t close to being mediocre. Hes the worst coach in the league.

  81. BucU Says:

    LOLOLOL @ Alstott!!!

  82. BucU Says:

Day 1- Bowles has earned nothing!! He was given the job to begin with ya maroon. Only thing Bowles has earned is an unemployment check. Joe please post the fraud’s defensive stats since 2023 please. Some people need to see what this fraud has really ‘earned.
