“Here We Go… Buccaneers?”

January 13th, 2026

Free agent.

And the shoe just dropped.

Super Bowl-winning coach and the leader of the Pittsburgh Steelers for nearly two decades, Mike Tomlin, just resigned.

There is a sect of Bucs fans thinking Team Glazer is waiting to dismiss Bucs coach Todd Bowles if Team Glazer has real a chance to hire Tomlin. Well, that fantasy is alive now that Tomlin resigned today.

The trick for those who want Tomlin over Bowles, what has Tomlin done the past 10 seasons that Bowles has not? Steelers fans today are rejoicing because Tomlin hasn’t won a playoff game in nine years.

Tomlin, since Ben Roethlisberger retired following the 2021 season, has turned into Father Dungy II. Good defense, bad offense and failure in January.

Careful what you wish for.

  1. Bucs 95 Says:

Could use him on the staff maybe as DC him and bowles are close

  2. Jack Hammer Says:

Here we go! Start the countdown clock. A change of heart?

  3. Sandro Marko Says:

    Hire him now

  4. AlstottNumber1 Says:

Tomlin wins in a vastly superior division.

He would dominate the lowly NFC South!

No more waiting until game 17 to know our fate!!!

Fire Bowles now and hire Tomlin!!!

    LFG!!!!!!

  5. Dre_bucsfan Says:

I’ll take em!!!! Much rather Mike McDaniel at the helm for OC though, Mike T gives us alil hope forsure at the very least

  6. DailyRich Says:

Sounds like Tomlin wants a break from what I’ve read. He might not be ready to jump right back in.

  7. THFCfan3535 Says:

Had a winning record every season. That’s what he’s done that Bowles hasn’t.

  8. Bucsfanman Says:

Wow! That was not on my coaching “bingo card”!

  9. johnnythemoon Says:

Andy Reid and Belichick have proved the retread thing wrong. Tomlin is only 53

  10. UGotRobbed Says:

Tomlin head coach…Monkin offensive coordinator and bring all the defensive coaches from the Steelers in! You’re welcome!

  11. BucsFan81 Says:

All of these coaching options like we have never seen before and we are stuck with clueless Bowles. As a Bucs fan since 1997 I have never been more frustrated. Like it is driving me crazy that we have to deal with Bowles when we already know exactly what is going to happen. This is malpractice by ownership.

  12. Stallworth Says:

No F ing thank you. He is a 9-8 coach that has lost his last 7 first round playoff runs. There is 0 difference between Bowles and Tomlin.

  13. Aceofaerospace Says:

I’d take him over Lovie Bowles. Don’t think it’s a huge improvement, but I believe it’s an improvement. There’s nothing as of now that makes me look forward to next season.

  14. Lefty R Says:

Well, Ronde Barber would have to get involved! somehow
As for me, I am not sure as to how I feel about Tomlin and i know too many Steelers’ fans…. cripes one is too many =)

However, if this gets rid of Todd Bowles…. count me in!!!

  15. Buddha Says:

He did pretty well when he had a quarterback. He has the same problem with wide receivers that Bowles has with pass rushers.

  16. Mhystc Says:

Give me Tomlin at HC and Monken at OC.

  17. Hawk Says:

He didn’t help himself by signing Aaron ‘Playoff Choker’ Rogers.

  18. Ricky Says:

I dont love it, but an upgrade over Bowles. He does require a good OC though or our offense will struggle.

  19. Tyler Says:

I’ve been saying this for months. If he were to get fired or leave Pittsburgh. I want him as my head coach in Tampa. He is a go-getter a motivator, and someone players will want to play and want to win for.

  20. Stallworth Says:

Any team that is 2-15 or 3-14 should seriously consider Tomlin. If you are an owner with a dumpster fire team then Tomlin would be a awesome coach to get. 9-8 and getting to the playoffs would be a dream to teams like the Raiders or the Jets.

Tomlin is not the coach for us.

  21. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    Bring him back home!

  22. Bowles Wasn’t Held Accountable Says:

    ^^^^^^^^^

If Tomlin hired a DC who knew what he was doing, he’d be much better than Bowles. I have zero faith in Bowles system/scheme, or that he knows what he’s doing.

  23. Daryl Green Says:

He wouldn’t take the job, they would obviously fire the HC and I don’t think that would sit well with him.

  24. HeartyDickerson Says:

What does he have over Bowles? Well…

    – A defense that isn’t always bottom 5 against the pass
    – Winning records every season he’s even been a HC
    – A personality

  25. Pickgrin Says:

Tomlin hasn’t had a losing season in NINETEEN straight years as HC of the Steelers…… instant upgrade!

Tomlin as HC with Monken as OC would make this Bucs team – as currently constructed – a SB contender in year 1.

  26. Rick Says:

Right now we have a bad offense, bad defense, and bad special teams. I’ll take a good defense over all of it. Go get him!

  27. Mhystc Says:

Bring Tomlin back home. OC can be Monken or Scheelhaase

  28. Rick Says:

    He commands respect.

When have you seen the Steelers look heartless like the Bucs? NEVER.

    Bring him in!

  29. Kc Says:

No thank you on Tomlin please no thank you ! Stay away far away from Tampa

  30. BocaBuc Says:

Absolutely tomlin…. what I wanted 4 games before the end of the year… When I started hearing rumors….. guess I’ll see if that bet comes thru…. at least I got my 500 from carolina , taking the division, back then…. yeah a defensive coach, but he wore both hats pretty well…
He has ust been there too long….. fresh start, sort of ‘back home’, weak division, and NO, this would not be a “LOVIE” move. Tomlin hasn’t been buried in his basement.watching games

  31. Jack Hammer Says:

We will be very picky and calculated. None of these open jobs will interest him. He’s learned his lesson. He’s going nowhere without a franchise QB already set in place at least for the foreseeable future.

  32. Tye Says:

Bucs owners embrace their team as just a placeholder, a team for other teams to pad their stats…

It would be refreshing to see the Bucs actually WANT to WIN!
Talking about setting the team back 5 years… That move would do it!!!

  33. HeavyE Says:

Sorry Todd, but You have to Go! Welcome Home Coach Tomlin!!! Let’s go Bucs!!!

  34. Joe Says:

Had a winning record every season. That’s what he’s done that Bowles hasn’t.

Talk to Joe about his January record the past nine years. LOL

The Steelers fans in Joe’s contacts are leaving work early to start throwing down beers that their prayers have been answered. #CarefulWhatYouWishFor

  35. Rocket10 Says:

He knows where he’s going be that another HC or to the TV booth and any fans that don’t want him are clueless He would be a Major upgrade

  36. Red86 Says:

Give me Tomlin. He actually had many years of great defense. Draft great parts for the defense as well. Already runs a 34 defense so we don’t have to make too many roster changes for a new system. I’ll take Tomlin consistently getting into the playoffs and winning a superbowl vs Bowles whom inherited a Superbowl team and gone downhill.

  37. Faspro Says:

    No, pass on Tomlin…

  38. Rick Says:

Joe…what is Todd’s record in Jan?

  39. buccintimeforchanges Says:

    Tomlin>>>>>>>Bowles on his best day

We’re stuck with Licht-Bowles for at least one more year.

I think the Glazers ditch both after this season.

Licht shouldn’t get a lifetime pass. Todd is gonna Todd.

I don’t want another retread. Pass on Mike.

  40. Rick Says:

I’ll take a winning retread over a heartless mummy.

  41. Tye Says:

imagine the celebration NATION WIDE once the news comes out IBS get FIRED!!!

New Years, 4th of July, Christmas and ones birthday all in a moment…
Fireworks, booze and parties for days!

  42. buc4evr Says:

DC only. The guy is a Bowles clone and will not get the Bucs to the SB. I would not be happy to see Tomlin get hired as HC. More of the same. The guy is a mediocre coach.

@Rick Says… the Steelers sure looked heartless last night. Why do you think Tomlin had to resign.

  43. Mike Johnson Says:

I would not hire Tomlin as our HC. Well, I would over Bowles But..IF..Bowles was smart, he would call Tomlin and make him his new Defensive Coordinator. But he won’t.

  44. Rick Says:

One night – the Bucs have looked heartless under Bowles for years.

Please, don’t even compare Bowles to Tomlin. They’re not even on the same planet.

  45. adam from ny Says:

tomlin, harbaugh…extremely battle tested division over the years…

guys you want steering the ship and toughening up all the buttercups by the bay

  46. Rick Says:

I’m not saying Tomlin is the end all – but he’s at least alive and shows emotion and garners respect.

  47. JustVisiting Says:

I believe that Tomlin’s record at Pittsburgh is 201-126-2, including those lost playoff games. The numbers speak for themselves.

  48. Jmarkbuc Says:

I’d take Mike just for the Defense, and he understands Buccaneers defensive heritage. And the fact that he has a pulse.

  49. adam from ny Says:

i do want a hard hitting defense again..

    nasty
    frothy
    dudes on the spectrum
    dawgs
    guys spitting teeth and blood

owners paying fines like it’s all good

  50. DailyRich Says:

Another thing to keep in mind: since Tomlin resigned, the Steelers still retain his rights. They’d have to be dealt with by any team wanting to bring Tomlin in.

  51. Marine Buc Says:

    FUN FACT –

Mike Tomlin’s last playoff win as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers was in January 2017, during the 2016 season, when they beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round after winning the Wild Card game against the Miami Dolphins; since then, the Steelers lost seven straight playoff games.

    NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!

  52. Tbbucs3 Says:

No thanks on hiring Todd Bowles 2.0

  53. Kc Says:

No to Tomlin ! Tomlin is for sure a coach who actually has done less with more ! Look at the players he has had and yet only 1 championship to show for it ! 0-7 last 7 playoff games ! No to Tomlin period !

  54. When is enough enough! Says:

Under the Dungy tree. Glazers did Dungy wrong in 2001 im sure that feeling is with Tomlin. On the other hand Bring him in as O C. Or D.C. as a promise to take over.

  55. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Nope

  56. DRob Says:

Tomlin has overperformed his rosters talent consistently.

Bowles has underperformed his roster talent.

  57. Mhystc Says:

Tomlin is not ever taking a DC job again.. let alone from Bowles.. when he’s levels about him at coaching. Let’s get that out the way..

  58. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

Instant upgrade to Bowies, but I don’t know if he and Licht would mesh? I think after flaming out on a few day one draft picks (including the #1 pick wasted on Jameis…even though both of the top QB prospects in that class are no more than career backups now) Jason seems so bent on drafting guys with a character that makes them a lower risk (at least on paper) that he passes on guys who have some “dog” in them. Tomlin strikes me as a guy who wouod want a players with fight in them even if they’re not all choir boys.

  59. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Umm Joe..

I can find no legitimate confirmation of this. Just a crazy AI clip on YouTube.

  60. @ifwelinkyouwon Says:

Tomlin is a known BakerBro. Just sayinnnn

  61. Chris Bell Says:

His short comings has been more of a lack of QB production. Bucs would be some of the best offensive talent that he’s had imo. Just hire one of the young OC he’d figure the defensive side out.

  62. Rick Says:

A good quarterback can make any coach look good. When Big Ben was there – they won a Super Bowl – when he retired, they sucked. An older Wilson or Rodgers don’t count. You put Tomlin’s defense here with a good OC, and at least we’ll have a chance.

The other option is to keep Bowles and continue losing. We are done winning an easy division. We’re now the worst team in the South, and Bowles doesn’t have it in him.

    On the dot Mr.Bell..

  64. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Found Art Rooney’s statement .

  65. Buc king Says:

I’m of the mindset anyone over bowles but I still prefer bill

  66. Simeon4HOF Says:

Dont think Tomlin is cool with replacing Todd

  67. Yeahmetoo Says:

They wont go over bowels for tomlin. He has guaranteed money. Bowels also wont
Accept a DC. So we re stuck with what we have unfortunately

  68. Baking with the next one Says:

Tomlin with the right OC will bring us our next Super Bowl!

  69. Curse of Gruden Says:

Simion4HOF is correct, I can’t see Tomlin forcing Bowles out of a job. The fraternity is strong.

  70. Newbie Says:

    Great leader of men.

Will hold the entire organization accountable.

Tough as nails and his teams play that way.

    Teacher.

People lament how conservative he is. While true since Big Ben left who have been his QBs? It’s been crap after crap yet the dude has led Pitt to playoffs and never had a losing record in 19 years. That’s unprecedented. Prior to Big Ben Pitt had a good offense.

Serious upgrade over what we have now.

Glazers, you have my stamp of approval.

  71. Steven007 Says:

    Very interesting…

  72. DS Says:

Who has he had on those teams???? Especially at qb lol he has had terrible offensive personel a decent defensive guys worth a look imo also his teams have never been gutless. I don’t think he would snake Bowles like
    That just my 2 cents

I believe that Tomlin’s record at Pittsburgh is 201-126-2, including those lost playoff games. The numbers speak for themselves.

His playoff record speaks for itself also.
    No no no.
Have any of those wanting Tomlin been watching football for the last 10 years ? Nobody has been afraid of the steelers since big Ben left.

Not happening anyway. He could wind up in Atlanta tho 😬

  74. PC Says:

Glazers talked a big game in the documentary, but they are way too friendly with Bowels to make any move. The fans opinions and clear disdain for Bowles’ rinse and repeat seasons no longer matter to them despite what they claim.

  75. Newbie Says:

    GREAT LEADER of men.

    Teacher.

    Will hold everyone accountable.

Tough as nails and his teams play like it.

Winner – never had a losing season in 19 years. That’s unprecedented.

People say he was too conservative but he has had NO qb since Big Ben. With Big Ben that offense was good with Bell, Brown, etc. Here, he would have a very good offensive nucleus. Just leave Art Smith in Pitt.

Team Glazer – you have my stamp of approval.

  76. Allen Lofton Says:

My guess is he’ll take a year off from being a HC. Reports are he’ll be a TV play caller for one of the networks in 2026. I doubt he has taken the time to think about going to another team. Preparing for game planning leaves you no time to think about anything. Just ask his wife when was the last time she has seen him. Football owns you during football season.

Not sure the Glazers have considered him given the circumstances. He hasn’t been to the Super Bowl in years. However the Bucs have the nucleus of a contender. Winning another Super Bowl was his major goal. The Steelers weren’t going anywhere with Roger’s at the helm so dangling a Super Bowl contending team could make him change his mind.

  77. BUCSONDECK24 Says:

    Harbaugh, Joseph, Tomlin, Gruden, Bilichick….

this isnt the year to sit on our hands with a subpar HC who was given the keys to a Ferrari when Arians stepped down.

  78. Couch Fan Says:

Ill take Tomlin’s competence over Super Todd’s ineptitude any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

  79. Weebs10 Says:

    Go get him Glazers

  80. Bucscoott Says:

You would have to give up draft picks to get him no thanks

  81. Obvious One Says:

Fantasy…… Tomlinson is burnt for now.. He wouldn’t coach with heart. He needs a Vacation to unpack the last decade….
He’s gonna take A Lot of time to kick things around. Don’t want another DC head coach anyways.

I’m interested in New Blood (that leans OC) with a HEALTHY background tree….. that is “Ambidextrous”. Meaning he can and Will excel as an OC or DC on the drop of a hat!

Basically, that’s Correct if you’re a OC or DC or you Wouldn’t be successful as either if you weren’t STRONG in BOTH! I WANT A JEDI… THAT LIKES TO ATTACK!

  82. Newbie Says:

Because Mike Tomlin resigned under contract, the Steelers retain his coaching rights, meaning any future team would need to negotiate compensation with Pittsburgh to hire him.

  83. Coconut Doghnut Says:

    Hire him as DC

  84. Jack Hammer Says:

Tomlin new Bucs DC. The insanity.

  85. Jack Hammer Says:

Hire him as DC. Just making sure that you are reading what you wrote down.

  86. BucU Says:

“Ill take Tomlin’s competence over Super Todd’s ineptitude any day of the week and twice on Sundays.””

You better believe it. I’d take Plant City’s HC over Bowles. He’s that bad.

  87. Truth be Told Says:

Tomlin is the most overrated coach in the NFL. No playoff wins. The last nine years is the only thing you need to notice on his résumé.

  88. AlstottNumber1 Says:

“Talk to Joe about his January record the past nine years. LOL”

Mike Tomlin is 193-114-2 in the regular season for a .628 win percentage.

He’s 8-12 in the playoffs for a .400 record. But he has been to 3 AFC title games and won two. Been to the Superbowl twice and has a title.

While I understand the 6 losses in 9 years straight in the playoffs isn’t ideal.

He has 5 double digit win seasons in that 9 year span and zero losing seasons.

Let me say that again for the learning impaired. ZERO losing seasons.

Toad Bowels you ask? In 8 full seasons as a HC he has 5 losing seasons.

Half of his seasons with Tampa are losing seasons. LOL!!!

  89. Canabuc Says:

    Pair him and Monkey!

  90. Jordan Says:

Looks like the same playbook that Sean Payton ran. Can’t win with the mediocre roster and no QB prospects. Resigns with the team needing a full teardown. Takes a year off then gets his choice of franchise the following year. Seemed to work out well for the Broncos?

I could easily see Tomlin as the Bucs head coach in 2 years

  91. Jmarkbuc Says:

A ham sandwich is better than Bowles, so Mike is a $5 foot long!

  92. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Bucscoot..

    He resigned

  93. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Don’t be so desperate and settle for an improvement but not Super Bowl level HC.
If we are changing HC it better not be for Tomlin. It will just extend the mediocrity and no meaningful playoff wins like NFC championship or Super Bowl.
If we want to contend for Championships Harbaugh is more likely to succeed than Tomlin. Remember he’s the guy who didn’t know how to use George Pickens.

  94. adam from ny Says:

he is a rah rah guy…gotta like that…

    rile up the troops

  95. BakerFan Says:

a lot of Bucs fans are delusional

  96. Mort Says:

He is NOT a free agent as your photo caption states. They retain his rights. He would have to be traded for.

  97. Greg-therealone Says:

AlstottNumber1 ftw…. You beat me to it. You simply cannot compare Bowles and Tomlin with a straight face. 19 straight winning seasons. Guess who else has done that ? Belichek and Tom Landry. Thats it. Thats rare air right there. Rare. Post season? No. Hes not the same level. But he has a couple of rings. One with the Bucs in ‘02 and one with the Steelers as head coach.

Steelers have his 26 rights and an option on 27. My guess is he takes a year off.

  98. James west Says:

Tomlin head coach monken OC marriage made in heaven, bring back Evans on 2 year deal, and let Tomlin pick the defensive groceries were back in the mix

  99. Muscle Hampster Says:

    Bring him home

  100. Cosmo Says:

We would at least have good defense

  101. 813bucboi Says:

same folks that bash tomlin and his JAN record wanted harbaugh lol….

whats harbaughs JAN record?…..unimpressive!!!!!!11-11 with a QB who has been an MVP 2 times!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  102. Smashsquatch Says:

When your team is described as soft & bored, you fix it instantly wirh Tomlin. He’s the perfect pivot. Get it done.

“Other Joe” here. Tomlin represents a significant upgrade.–Joe

  103. Obvious Says:

Take a pass. I would prefer to find a young offensive play caller.

I have no doubt that his in game decisions and overall regular season record would be much better than the current HC.

  104. AlstottNumber1 Says:

    @Greg-therealone

It’s just laughable that people would rather stick with Bowles than take a chance on a proven winner.

Just imagine having the NFC South title wrapped up by early December.

We could actually rest some people before the playoffs!!!!

And both Joes and Ira were fit to be tied over Bowles scheme during the latest season crushing losing streak.

Now it seems like one of the Joes is running cover for Todd. And don’t get me started about Ira’s man love for Bowles. Too many coconut doughnuts for that man.

Tomlin brings instant credibility to the HC position. And the defense would surely improve rapidly.

  105. HeavyE Says:

Let’s trade baker and Bowels for compensation! It’s a win, win for both Teams! Let’s Go Bucs! Get it Done

  106. Bucs Fan From Philly Says:

WE WOULD HAVE TO TRADE FOR HIM. That means giving up Jason’s picks of the next version of Logan Hall or kicker or the defensive end from Bama that did nothing for us.

  107. Curse of Gruden Says:

Alstott – Yes, the Joes are, at least, partially in camp with the current Buc regime to ensure they maintain some sort of access to information. Although, with some resemblance of independence.

  108. Pewter Power Says:

Steelers don’t have a good offense and Bucs do. At least we know Bucs would have a good defense which is all we think this team needs to be relevant. Not hoping for Tomlin but he’s saying he’s an upgrade over Bowles is an understatement

  109. Curse of Gruden Says:

What kind of draft compensation is Tomlin worth? A third rounder? A second rounder? It’s not like the Bucs have a lot to spare. I don’t see it happening.

  110. D-Rome Says:

He’ll interview with the Giants. It’s the most attractive job out there.

  111. Pa Privateer Says:

A lot of people will cite the playoff drought against Tomlin, but I live in Steeler country. Every week, Steeler fans believe they will win, and the team is always competitive. It is a winning culture with the team and the fans. Tomlin is a reason for that continued culture.

Unlikely, but if I could dream, Tomlin and Raheem Morris are really close friends. Just saying. Monken would be great OC as well.

  112. Newbie Says:

Not sure what the compensation would be but you DAMN SURE know what you are getting in Mike Tomlin in exchange for a draft pick… I covet those picks (assets) as much as anyone but you would be getting a proven winner. What would the cost be?

  113. HC Grover Says:

Dream on Glazers are not firing Bowzo.

  114. Luca Brazi Says:

Tomlin would be a total upgrade. Firstly he wins in one of the toughest divisions in football. Secondly, he wins without a franchise quarterback! Thirdly, his defense kicks ass every year.
Finally, imagine adding an OC like Mike McDaniel to the and let Tomlin do his thing with our defense. I’m in…who’s with me?

  115. AlstottNumber1 Says:

    @Curse of Gruden

I understand they need to try to look somewhat neutral for access to the source.

But there are plenty of other outlets in the Tampa area that actually call out those who should be.

All I would like to see is a little more heat put on the GM and ownership for this failure.

Bowles is clearly above the law and reporters are scared to ask real questions and don’t follow up when a word salad answer is given.

Just gotta get better. Let us know when that plan comes to fruition.

  116. JA Says:

If anyone thinks Tomlin would accept a D.C. job it’s time to shake the rocks out of your head. I’m sure he would instantly be offered a head coach position with 3-5 teams, yet you think he would pass that up to be Todd Bowles’s defensive coordinator? Joking, right?
In other words, why pass on an offer to be a high school principal when you’d have a chance to become a janitor for the worst principal in America?
Nothing against janitors, BTW, some great janitors out there (see Will Hunting), but the analogy is apropos.

  117. Bee Says:

    Thanks but no thanks.

No retreads and journeyman coaches or QBs. Tomlin is good enough to get you to a WC and lose. Changing conferences won’t change that. Tomlin ain’t winning with this roster and he helped build the roster he’s stepping away from.

He’s like many other HOF HCs, he can’t win without a HOF QB. Funny how that works right?

The Bucs need new, young blood to create a new culture. No looking back! Move forward with new energy! Looking to the past stifle evolution.

Hiring Tomlin would reek of desperation.

  118. Newbie Says:

    AlstottNumber1 – AMEN dude.

It’s disgusting to me. NO ONE holds their feet to the fire. There is ZERO accountability from Ownership on down. As I have said and I will keep saying – it’s the same two driving the bus (Licht/Bowles). Nothing is going to change unless the Glazers MAKE THE CHANGE. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY. It’s pathetic.

  119. BucfaninMi Says:

Tomlins record in January is better than not playing in January

  120. AlstottNumber1 Says:

    Bee says:

“Hiring Tomlin would reek of desperation.”

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

At this point we have to do anything to cut the anchor dragging this franchise down to the depths.

If Licht won’t fire him then he can go along with Bowles.

  121. TheShaz Says:

Tomlin might have been Dungy 2.0

But Bowles, it was the defense that killed the season.

We need a better OC. But now we have to replace David, possibly Evans. A defense without a legit pass rush is dead meat.

  122. heyjude Says:

Wow, all those years at one place says so much. Feel bad for him to go out like that. I don’t think we all have seen this many HC releases at once. Making our heads spin.

  123. Brian in FL Says:

He didn’t resign from a playoff team just to go coach a non-playoff team. The dude is burnt out. He’ll probably take a year off, do some tv stuff, then come back into the fold next season, ala Bruce Arians.

Bowles is clearly above the law and reporters are scared to ask real questions and don’t follow up when a word salad answer is given.”

That’s spot on. TB excels at word salad, and going through the buffet line at Duff’s.

  125. Bucnjim Says:

Serious Question……Do you think the Steelers are sitting there wishing the Bucs would fire Bowles so they can bring him in? Absolutely Not!!!! There is the answer to your question. Even better, is there anyone in the league wishing that? I highly doubt it. Not even the JETS

  126. Guy In the Stands Says:

You need to share what you are smoking, ” what has Tomlin done the past 10 seasons that Bowles has not?”

    1. Winning in one of if not the toughest divisions in football.
    2. NEVER had a losing season
    3. Not backing into the playoffs because the division is hot garbage.

The list can go on, but these are the most evident.

  127. Deeboooo Says:

Tomlin stated he wants to go somewhere with warm weather. Us, Miami, Atlanta?

  128. Bojim Says:

Not for OC. DC for sure but Todd won’t give that up.

  129. Buc1987 Says:

Tomlin as the new DC yes!

  130. BPBucsfan Says:

@adam from ny–but we have to have “character guys “, you know choir boy types. 🙄

  131. Eric Says:

Tomlin can hire Chucky as OC. Back to the Super Bowl staff.

Andy Reed had fizzled out in the playoffs too, before the Chiefs picked him up.

That worked out. I wonder how close Tomlin and the Glzzer boys are.

  132. stvcl Says:

C’mon…get him no matter what the cost! Give the fans hope!

  133. Redzone Says:

No problem with Tomlin except the revolving OC door if there’s success- he’s head and shoulders above Todd as a coach and a leader

I would be most excited about the prospect of all the Bowles defenders stop insinuating I’m racist

    Gruden era (2002–2008)

    Average Points Against rank: 8.0

  137. Gmantampa Says:

Tomlin hasn’t had a functioning QB in 5 years and his WRs are essentially psychopaths. He would succeed here easily.

  138. Rod Munch Says:

Note, those are rankings — meaning Dungy had the better offense and better defense, overall. People talking about Gruden as OC do not live in reality.

  139. White Tiger Says:

We have a DC and he won’t share power.

Agree, Bowles has actually won a playoff game in the last 10 years. Mike Tomlin has not.

I like Tomlin, but no thanks, he’s more of the same.

  140. Darin Says:

Had a winning record every season. That’s what he’s done that Bowles hasn’t.

Talk to Joe about his January record the past nine years. LOL

The Steelers fans in Joe’s contacts are leaving work early to start throwing down beers that their prayers have been answered. #CarefulWhatYouWishFor

I think you need to be telling steelers fans that not us. They could end up with Bowels. Then they’d really be leaving work early Every day.
We’d take Tomlin because hes an upgrade. Simple as thay
We want improvement. His defense actually resembles a defense as well. What a concept

  141. Bucs1976 Says:

Tomlin is Dungy 2.0…….will win you some games but plateaus and never really gets better….hard pass…..

  142. Optimistic Says:

Tomlin may very well become the HC of Tampa. But not until after the 2026 season. His trade value is high but may be less after the 2026 season.

So he’s going to take a laughing stock of a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in a decade and a half and turn it into a legit SB contender – who only missed winning a SB because the refs decided to change the rules of what a catch was on the fly?

    I’ll take it.

  146. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Right Rod…

The Shield couldn’t have a SB that the Bucs might win 7-3, especially when the Rams were scoring like crazy.

    ————-

I don’t think it would cost more than a 3rd at the very most.

But I agree, this makes Tomlin at the top of the list if Bowles fails again next year.

Then again, the Bucs would probably have to do a full roster reset by then, since if we’re getting a new HC next offseason, it means Baker failed once again and you basically need to reset the roster, so I doubt Tomlin would have a lot of interest in a rebuild. But who knows, things certainly could change between now and then.

Declaring a QB “can’t win” while ignoring coaching quality, protection, scheme, and defense is how hot-take culture works — not how football does.

Flush the todd ASAP and, “Lets Go!” to quote a former Buc’s Goat!

In other news… how insane are Ravens and Steelers?… Meanwhile Bucs owners content to marinade on our own toxic stew. Ughhh

  152. Miller5252 Says:

Harbaugh to the Steelers and Tomlin to the Ravens!

I would bet Tomlin takes a year off. It would be funny though if Harbaugh went to the Steelers!

  153. Ben Says:

Everyone saying he wants a break.

  154. BucHead Says:

I’ll take my chances. Do it.

  155. Oxycondomns Says:

the problem is glazers are treating bowles like hes dungy 2.0 and has ruined the team . i believe denver gave up a round 1 and 2 pick in exchange for a 3 rd rd pick for coach payton. bucs cant afford to lose valuable draft picks they would miss out on the next vernon hargraves

  156. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Tomlin is gonna take a year off. That means we will have Toad for another year and he’ll finally be canned after he toads next year.

  157. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

What is his ceiling compared to Bowels? What is his ceiling with attracting a better staff? Will our fundamentals like tackling be better? Etc.. Tomlin is above and beyond the coach Bowels is. Just like Harbaugh, he can win multiple ways and is always in the fight, at one point in time the toughest division in football. Sometimes you need a fresh start and I do believe he has some of his heart in Tampa. Not sure what the goal will be for Bowels to coach in 2027 but I am not sure if it’s attainable. We shall see, I do expect a turn around but not to the heights we want. Tomlin will more than likely be an option then if he sets out a year.

  158. stucbuc Says:

If there was a season to grab a great coach it’s this season. Glazers have their thumb up their ass. The next 10-15 years will be determined by what they do this season. Walk the f up.

  159. BUCDADDY Says:

I would love Tomlin in Tampa. Let’s Go, Tomlin Bay! Lol! Of course, there are some things that concern me about him. But in a way, not saying Baker is better, there are some similarities in the way Big Ben and Baker both played. Maybe Baker is the type of QB, with the help of Tomlin’s defensive mindset, that could create some success. He could be a quality DC to compliment a new OC that actually know what they’re doing.

As far as the Glazer brothers changing their mind after saying Bowles was staying on, I just don’t see that happening. We’re stuck with Bowles for the time being.

  160. Gmantampa Says:

Funny (not really) to see intellectually lazy people comparing Bowles to future first ballot Hall of Famer……

  161. SlyPirate Says:

    He resigned. He wasn’t fired.

  162. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Did he have time oeft on his contract? If so, Pittsburgh owns him.

  163. Fanofdabucs Says:

Only in Bucland would people not want Tomlin.

He’s a HOF coach who NEVER had a losing record in 19 years! A record that will probably never be broken.

What has he done that Bowles hasnt??? Really?? What a hack job

  164. Bucnjim Says:

You know what Tomlin doesn’t have? A mid-season slump every freaking year. This isn’t the first year the Bucs have had to count on other teams losing to make the playoffs. What Tomlin teams do have is heart and motivation! This might not be my first pick, but his ability to motivate professional NFL players has to be considered!

  165. Ben Says:

What has Tomlin done that Bowles hasnt? Never had a losing record, has a superbowl ring, made playoffs every year. What led to Tomlin’s downfall was they could not find a replacement for Roeth. Couldn’t find a good QB for years…..sound familliar? Thats right, the Bucs couldnt find a QB for over 10 years. The difference is Tomlin kept winning. I think Tomlin does better if he trusts a solid GM like Licht and works with the FO to help build the offense. Hiring a stud coach like Mcdaniel helps. At least make your best offer and see what happens.

  166. RASH Says:

memo to bucs fans tony dungy was not good nice guy great christian horrible coach get over it him raheem dumby smith richard williamson nice guys dont win period

  167. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

That’s just stupid. Take a look at his record.

  169. gotbbucs Says:

He’ll take a year off from coaching. Maybe next year.

  170. Bucnjim Says:

    Bonzai,
With so many Head Coaching positions yet to be filled, they may be waiting for the smoke to clear. Most good OC’s still have a chance to be hired as HC.

  171. Bobby Says:

Go get Tomlin or Gruden Glazers!!

  172. Zwak Says:

He hasn’t accomplished anything are we tanking for a 1st round pick next year?

  173. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Any team wanting Tomlin would need to negotiate a trade with the Steelers, who could demand multiple high-round picks for their successful, proven coach.

Som as much as I like Tomlin…pass.

  174. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Rash is an idiot

  175. buccintimeforchanges Says:

  177. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Tomlin returning to Tampa would be neat…but not at the cost of multiple high round picks. We have a defense to build.

  178. Hodad Says:

My guess his step down was mutual, and he’s free to do what he wants. That said, I see him pulling a Bill Cower. At least for the up coming season. Maybe next year Buc fans.

  179. Bosch Says:

    BUCDADDY Says:
As far as the Glazer brothers changing their mind after saying Bowles was staying on, I just don’t see that happening. We’re stuck with Bowles for the time being.

    *****

Let’s think about this for a minute. Have the Glazers made a public statement that Bowles was their 2026 head coach? If they have, I am not aware of it. Bowels said he was returning for 2026 and the Glazers have neither confirmed nor denied this. They have left their options open as there are rapidly changing dynamics as the playoffs progress.

This is the best of all possible outcomes.. Tomlinson as HC. Monken as OC. DC as Tomlinson sees fit. Goodbye Bowels. Tomlinson influences Licht’s defensive draft selections. Tomlinson sets the tone in the locker room.

    What could be better?

  180. Bosch Says:

Tomlinson has clearly stated that announcing is not for him. He is a coach and only a coach.

  181. Bill Says:

Yeah we need a guy that hasn’t won a playoff game since 2002 agaim🤣

  182. Bucmeup Says:

Why would you fire a dude to hire the same dude. I gotta think the next coaching cycle will be a lot better. ‘26 season is gonna be brutal but maybe necessary

  183. Bosch Says:

One other thing. Last night’s dominating Houston defense is mainly a credit to their defense. But did anyone notice that the Steelers OL did not come to play? Whether happened? Arron Rogers, that’s what. His OL despises him and his heartless arrogance. You could just tell. Steelers made a Hugh mistake pursuing washed up punk Aaron Rogers. They would have been better off with Jemeis than this drama queen.

Rogers hall of fame? I think not.

  184. Bosch Says:

Ain’t the same dude Bucup. Nor by any stretch of the imagination.

  185. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Hodad

    Agreed.

  186. Cardiac kidz Says:

Here we go, the 2026 season just took another hit.

Can we just concede the 17 games and start working on the 2027 Season?

Glazers really are good people, just not savvy NFL Business people. They extended a .500 coach for 3 years because he won the worst division in the league. Only in the NFL

  187. Scotty Mack Says:

Lest people forget, the Bucs are not the only team looking for an O.C. (or more). Four teams have fired their O.C. and another nine their head coach (which tends to mean all coordinators under them, as well). Realistically, there are 14 openings for offensive coordinators right now. Tons of competition for fewer qualified, successful coaches than exist, I’m afraid.

  188. FormerBucFan Says:

Hard to believe there’s 9 opening for HC in the NFL and Todd Bowles spot isn’t one of them. Being the HC of a team that had the biggest collapse in recent NFL history but not relieved of duties begs far more questions than answers. Being in charge of a defense that finished dead last in red zone defense but allowed to stay in charge of that unit…what’s there to say…it just boggles the mind.

  189. Bucs3 Says:

Ok winning the division is nothing

It gives you home field advantage for one game at least THATS IT

    WINNING NFCSOUTH IS A JOKE

ALLL THE WILD CARD TEAMS HAD A BETTER RECORD

  190. Pewter Power Says:

Well last time the Bucs traded for a head coach who previously had strong ties to the organization it worked out pretty well.

  191. Outrigger Says:

Completely agree Former Bucs Fan. I have no idea why the Glazers are hanging on to Bowles. He is extremely unpopular with the fan base in addition to everything you said. This was supposed to be a bad cycle for available coaches until Harbaugh and Tomlin became available and to a lesser degree, Stafanski.

  192. HC Grover Says:

    Gruden

  193. Outrigger Says:

    Mike Tomlin career record: 201-125-2
    Todd Bowles career record: 60-76
    NUFF SAID!!!

  194. BocaBuc Says:

I must have missed it ….Has anyone actually seen an official statement from Glazers on Bowles being retained?

  195. David Says:

Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti and Todd Monken OC. Raheem Morris DC and Richard Bisaccia as special teams coach…NOW!!

  196. It's Corn Says:

Yeah it would be rough if he brings Arthur Smith to run offense here.

But it’s better than Lying Todd Bowles.

  197. Mike Says:

Pipe dream! He will take a year off an announce NFL games and then throw his hat into the ring.

  198. Miller5252 Says:

All that money the Glazers spent on their 50th year series and everything else they spent money on this year they didn’t want to pay Bowles contract either. I really think it’s about this and nothing else on why they kept him.

  199. orlbucfan Says:

R u kidding me? First, the Ravens’ dude and now Tomlin? There some sort of fire-winning-HCs-virus in the air? Glad Bowles is here.

  200. Oxycondomns Says:

no tomlin glazers are in profit mode post super bowl ala post 2002 super bowl

  201. buccintimeforchanges Says:

    “The Glazers are good people.”

Do you know where their money came from?

Malcolm was a slum lord. It’s blood money. The kids are all inheritors.

The glazers are the most hated ppl in England. They suck as Bucs owners.

Yeah…Brady…Google Brady San Fran and get back to me. That was 5+ years ago. Welcome to the present.

Jason Licht, Bruce Arians and Todd Bowles are a long CON and the Gklazers are too stupid to see it. SMDH. LOSERS, ALL THREE. Living off of Brady.

    Wake sheeple…including you Joe’s…

  202. Paco Says:

LOL at all the people raging at the Glazers.

You do realize that they own the team right? And just like the Joes are free to write and post what they want to the Glazers are free to do what they want to with their business.

Want more input on a football team ? Go make your own billion/s 🙂

  203. Nick jannette Says:

  204. Herdofem Says:

    Antwaan Randle El 2027!

  205. Eric Says:

What Steelers fans think is irrelevant. Fans always want the coach fired. Eagles fans want their coach fired.

Tomlin is an excellent coach snd we would be lucky to get him.

  206. BuccYa Says:

  207. Beeej Says:

Steelers REALLY don’t have good players. Definitely not a good O-line

  208. Beeej Says:

Just watched episode 1 of Raise the Flags. I remember the first win in ’77, was working at the Kmart on Waters and Florida, they announced in over the PA system….people all over the store were cheering.

THEN I look at this place

  209. Frank Pillow Says:

This is similar to the Sean Peyton to Denver scenario. Similar pedigrees too. If you have a chance to hire a coach with Tomlin’s experience and record, you definitely explore it. Who here doesn’t think a Tomlin, Morris and Monken combo isn’t better than what Todd will conjure up?

  210. Rod Munch Says:

    ANYONE BUT BOWLES!!!!

OK, here’s one of the winningest coaches every.

    NO, NOT HIM! DURP!

  211. Rod Munch Says:

    Gruden era (2002–2008)
    Average Points For rank: 21st

So all the dummies wanting Gruden because of his offense… his offense was literally worst than what Dungy was putting on the field.
