Bucs “Definitely Made The Inquiry”
January 9th, 2026A Denver-based NFL insider who has great contacts with agents let it slip on a Commandos-centric podcast earlier this week that Team Glazer called John Harbaugh’s representatives moments after Team Glazer learned that Baltimore canned him.
The call was to gauge his Harbaugh’s interest in coming to the Bucs.
Yesterday, Allbright appeared on WDAE-AM 620 to discuss his intel. Allbright, who works for KOA-AM 850, said the conversation between Team Glazer and Harbaugh’s people did take place.
The conversation didn’t get very far as Harbaugh’s agent told Team Glazer that Harbaugh wanted to hire his own yes-man general manager wherever he lands. Team Glazer had no interest moving on from Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht.
“They definitely made the inquiry there,” Allbright said. “And, you know, Harbaugh kind of let it know, you know, kind of what it is that he wants through his people.
“Bryan Harlan is his agent. And, you know, they kind of let it be known, ‘Hey, look, you know, this is what I’m looking for.’ …
“[Team Glazer] realized fairly quickly, that that’s not compatible with where they’re at as an organization. They really like Jason Licht, and obviously Jason Licht has been a great general manager. …
“I think they just decided, ‘OK, well [Harbaugh] is a great coach, but he’s kind of got a different vision with what he wants and where we’re at. So we’re going to keep our general manager and give him the opportunity to run it back with his head coach.”
That’s a helluva of a vote of confidence for Team Glazer to Licht.
Joe has a hunch the way this shook out, Licht has more job security than Todd Bowles. And he should.

January 9th, 2026 at 9:04 am
Licht isn’t perfect but he has earn the right to remain GM. The Bucs has talent to win minimum 10 games, they need the right HC to elevate them.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:05 am
Harbaugh is waiting for the Bills to lose.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:06 am
Unfortunately for Licht, his fate is now locked with Bowles.
The internal housecleaning was necessary, but Bowles is still the weakest link:
– The overly complex, non-functional defensive scheme: on him
– The braindead game management: on him
– The lack of urgency and team energy: on him
Even assuming Bowles/Licht can find a better OC/ST coordinator and defensive staff (good luck, given their lame duck status), these issues have not been addressed.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:07 am
I do like Licht but it sucks Harbaugh won’t work with him.
Tampa seemed like a team he would coach too.
Miami has it in the bag.
That’s why Im hoping McDaniel comes to Tampa to stick it to them if possible.
Would much rather have him than anyone else than maybe Lincoln Riley.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:10 am
Conveniently, this sounds good for Team Glazer to put out to fans. And it’s damning for Todd Bowles whom the glazers “love.”
I think the Glazers totally messed up this situation. They should’ve fired Bowles and now he’s clearly a lame duck coach so who’s going to want to coach here. But don’t worry the Glazers will push out the message that they didn’t force Bowles to fire anybody so that Now it can seem like Bowles is on solid footing.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:11 am
Too bad, but if I have a long-time employee that I trust and a potential new hire wants someone else, I would probably do the same thing the Bucs did.
Harbaugh has his own set of warts. Just ask Lamar Jackson…
January 9th, 2026 at 9:11 am
Need a good QB to have a 10 plus win season. Good Baker needs a good supporting catch and a good coaches. He doesn’t have that with Bowles. But hey, maybe they can catch lightning twice and find another Coen. If not, say hello to bad Baker.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:12 am
We are about six years away from that Superbowl in a what have you done for me lately league fat lady may have been singing for a while just not paying attention. How many Superbowl did bill have with Tom? Where is he at now?
January 9th, 2026 at 9:13 am
Ronde was pretty adamant that it didn’t go down that way. GO BUCS!

@ Mark
I agree 100%.
Nice post.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:17 am
Harbaugh is a great coach but Lamar is overrated. He won the MVPs by playing like a running back. Those 2 MVPs could easily have gone to a couple other QBs with better stats. Frankly, a healthy Baker under a coach like Coen is a better QB then Lamar. They are actually similar QBs both sort of bad with deep throws but makes it up in other ways.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:17 am
……I like Harbaugh’s vision of a football team far more than Jason Lichts. That is for God damn sure. I want big, tough, hard nosed. I don’t want to be cute – and thats what the Bucs are. CUTE
January 9th, 2026 at 9:18 am
That’s why having Mike McDaniel or Lincoln Riley as OC would be a smart move.
If/When Bowles defensive scheme poops the bed next season, as long as the offense is fixed and humming, then Glazers can slide the OC in as the new HC instead of losing them to another team.
Both McDaniel & Riley are superb play callers and they also both have HC experience.
Don’t think Bowles will go for inexperience this season.
Baker will be comfortable with either one of them.
Also you got outliers in The Falcons OC (McVay tree) that was let go as well.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:19 am
I am not going to grade Licht but it is my opinion that when people looking at his work and judge him there should be a Brady asterisk. Just like I believe it when people are talking about Belichick.
Both of them have disproportionate record with and without the Brady effect.
That shoud be in serious consideration.
I think people over estimate the results that Licht has as a GM becuase of that.
I m not saying Licht had done a terrible job but I dont think he has done a great job either.
Go Bucs.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:24 am
If Belows does what everyone knows he’s going to do, Licht will be going to Temple with him in 2027.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:27 am
Licht needs to prove himself able to acquire a legit pass rusher or two, stat. No mincing of words, the glazers refused Harbaugh in favor of Licht, as the status woe is wholly unacceptable. Egg on their face if we have a 💩 pass rush again next year. It has to be better, and I am tired of him hoarding draft picks for underperformers: Braswell, JTS, Kancey (hurt), and yaya is a solid #2. Get the ace rusher, Jason, I’d suggest trading for Crosby, hell you could’ve traded a third round pick for jaelen Phillips, but passed. He has 2 sacks w the eagles, and I am willing to bet he would’ve been a better rusher on “3rd and 28, 4th and 14” downs lost against the falcons that ultimately cost us the division. You brought back 37 y/o JPP,but couldn’t make a trade? And to boot, if Phillips left in FA- you get a comp pick back. Buffoonery on line 1! Now you and Todd need to step up and we can’t lose because the defense is a soft vanilla coverage zone that gets shat on by backups, nor because the GM refused to get a legit pass rush. The patience of fans have expired. Time to 💩 or get off the 🚽.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:28 am
Need a confidence poll in lights ability to address the pass rush this offseason. Time to fix it.

January 9th, 2026 at 9:37 am
A coach with GM power fails a lot more often than it succeeds. Good call.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:37 am
When has a coach acting as GM ever succeeded? It killed Chucky here, doomed the Patriots and BB, stopped Parcells from ever winning again, and I could go on. That could be the reason no coach has ever won a SB with 2 teams. Not saying what happened is good– but if Harbaugh wanted to be coach AND have a yes-man/Mike Lombardi/Bruce Allen as his GM then that’s actually worse than what we have because then the team will be screwed for the next 10 years as they dig out of a salary cap mess and piss poor personnel decisions.
Also- for those screaming to hire college coach as HC— when has that succeeded in the salary cap era? Can’t think of one. Chip Kelley, Urban Meyer, Petrino, Saban, Kingsbury– all failures. Harbaugh doesn’t count because he had NFL HC experience and made it to a SB.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:40 am
It’s clear Todd is on a VERY short leash! Let’s hope the next OC is another Liam and we don’t make the same mistake twice.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:49 am
Well…that sucks. But the Glazers will suffer from.the decision they made. JL is an awesome.GM and I wouldn’t move on from him. But I also wouldnt be keeping Bowles. I hope season tickets holders stay firm in not renewing their tickets. Only way to let the Glazers know is by hurting their wallet
January 9th, 2026 at 9:50 am
Of course he has a different vision. He wants to win.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:55 am
It would be a bummer if Licht just tied his job security to Bowles. I always gave him a pass for Bowles since it seemed like Arians kind of forced the marriage. I hope the Glazers give him a chance to find another Arians next year if things don’t work out.
January 9th, 2026 at 9:56 am
Boyz in the Hood saxophones are playing in the background!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
January 9th, 2026 at 10:02 am
Well said Steve. Light has run his course and I think other teams have gained their edge on Bucs or surpassed. We’re stuck in neutral, nobody knows how to motivate ,and certainly can’t draft like others.
January 9th, 2026 at 10:03 am
All you that thought we could retain Coen – this is why we never had a chance.
Good coaches want their own team – including GM
January 9th, 2026 at 10:07 am
Bucs called and heard the price and hung up
Got to pay to play in NFL
GLAZERS NAH WE CHEAP STAY WITH DOLLAR TREE COACH
cheap tix next year fans
January 9th, 2026 at 10:17 am
Licht has survived like 3 coaching changes. That is Teflon Jason he is not going anywhere. I think they would fire Toilet Bowls and still keep Licht if it comes down to that which it will next year.
January 9th, 2026 at 10:25 am
Harbaugh wanted to buy the chicken, cook it and eat it too. He probably wanted more control than the Glazers were going to give him. He’s kinda like a Bill Parsons guy.
January 9th, 2026 at 10:35 am
Same reason Coen FLED!
Jason Lite is a roadblock in drawing Top HC candidates!
Systemic issues in the Halls of OBP !
Hence the ever steeper slides in the past three years!
January 9th, 2026 at 10:36 am
I really think the Glazers inquiry about Harbaugh was to give the fans a at least we look around before bringing Bowles back. Harbaugh was making around $17 million twice to what Bowles is making. Harbaugh hasn’t done much in the past 10 years, yes he has 1 Super Bowl under his belt and that was in his 5th year. Bowles hasn’t reached his 5th year. My opinion is, and opinions are like rear ends, everybody has one, Harbaugh is to much like Bowles. Just go back and look at the Ravens the past 5 or 6 years
January 9th, 2026 at 10:39 am
5-1 to 8-9
Bowles is the lowest paid HC in the NFL
You get what you pay for
January 9th, 2026 at 10:46 am
the glazers were right to not allow harbaugh and his agent to get that kind of leverage over them. they already are allowing todd bowles to have the leverage that he has, over the team, and they are paying dearly and they know it.
the glazers would just be going from one guy who has leverage over them to another.
January 9th, 2026 at 10:47 am
Is this the same organization that made Raise the Flags?
The owners in that show were passionate about winning, or so they told us.
January 9th, 2026 at 10:52 am
This is an absolute nightmare. How did we get here?
The defensive guru that can’t coach defense to stop a wet fart is still allowed to call defensive plays? Make it make sense.
And now it’s circle the wagons time to spin and fluff for the power structure?
This is the equivalent of a participation trophy.
I guess simply showing up equals excellence despite the results.
January 9th, 2026 at 10:52 am
I don’t recall any of my posts getting the JBF bold type cautions
Yet my posts are delayed and sometimes never posted.
What is up with this Joe!
January 9th, 2026 at 10:57 am
Setting up for the 2027 draft…..all good
January 9th, 2026 at 11:03 am
None of it matters with Bowles being the head coach. Bucs have the worst head coach in the NFL for the 2026 season. Bucs have made a horrendous decision to keep Bowles.
January 9th, 2026 at 11:10 am
Please glazer family fire Todd bowls an hired Mike Tomlin Mike McCourthy John haulbough or Pete Carroll
January 9th, 2026 at 11:28 am
What was Raheem’s famous quote? “I’ll tolerate you until I can replace you”. Checkmate Lovie Bowels. They didn’t find your replacement, but they were looking.
January 9th, 2026 at 11:51 am
Bucs3 is correct, Glazers are going to stick with the Dollar Tree Head Coach
January 9th, 2026 at 11:55 am
Recycling a has-been coach is not the answer. We have one already that we all want gone. Unfortunately it will only change if revenue drops substantially this next season. That is the only thing the Glazers seem to care about. Too bad this isn’t a fan-centric league where ticket sales were needed to run the club. Operations are taken care of by TV and advertising revenues.

Harbaugh+his gm>>>>>>>>jason + todd
January 9th, 2026 at 12:21 pm
Harbaugh is a great coach but this kind of thing doesn’t usually work well. Jason is a good GM and I dont think we need a full rebuild on the roster to me it really is just bad coaching period.
January 9th, 2026 at 12:31 pm
Maybe buying out Todd and Jason + adding Harbaugh’s salary and all the incidentals was just a little too pricey, especially after their Man U dealings this week.
January 9th, 2026 at 12:42 pm
This is 100% about money. Glazers don’t wan’t to pay Bowles, Licht, and the former Man U coach all to not work for them.
January 9th, 2026 at 12:44 pm
The entire process makes sense if it happened that way. They tried to upgrade and didn’t want to get rid on the guy that’s been stable and productive. I wouldn’t have moved on from Licht either.
And if this is true, it tells you what you need to know about the glazers. They were serious about moving on from this coach but wanted a guaranteed upgrade.
The real fork in the road comes up next year if he can reach his ceiling of 8, 9 wins. They have to be ready to flush even if he hits that target. This shouldn’t be a situation where they only can him if he only wins 4-5 games
January 9th, 2026 at 1:06 pm
Licht put together the team that won the Super Bowl and deserves to be here. He just selects the players he doesn’t coach them. He has had several very good draft classes. He’s not perfect and doesn’t hit on every pick but he’s damn close.
January 9th, 2026 at 1:24 pm
John Harbaugh isn’t a upgrade over anyone
If you can’t win a Championship with a MVP QB, and a 2,000 yards Rusher
What make him come to Tampa and win a Super Bowl
😂😂😂🤣🤣
Delirious
January 9th, 2026 at 2:00 pm
Let this show the fire our GM crowd that in NFL circles he is considered a great GM. Jason has done a great job. It’s crazy how people want him gone. His resume speaks for itself. With his 1st pick ever he picks a hall of fame WR. no one knew what Evans would turn into but Jason did. When Wirfs hangs his cleats up he will most likely be a hall of famer. Brings BA out of retirement, trades for JPP what a steal , built a team so desirable that Brady wanted to come only to Tampa. That alone should shut the haters up. Trades for gronk and brings him out of retirement. Signed suh and Shaq drafts the grave diggers I mean the list goes on
January 9th, 2026 at 2:33 pm
Let’s be honest here. This is a league where a 2020 Super Bowl doesn’t mean much in the here and now. Jason is, by all accounts, a fantastic guy and has done a nice job building through the draft.
That said, there are significant holes on this roster and subpar coaches (or there were) not developing or getting maximum effort out of some key positions—like the front 7 on D. This team isn’t strong, tough or durable. There’s no accountability, passion or leadership. This roster is littered with enough “dawgs” either.
This is just as much Jason’s fault as it is Todd’s. He should be held responsible, as the man in charge of football operations. He shouldn’t be above reproach.
January 9th, 2026 at 3:17 pm
That caption 🤣
January 9th, 2026 at 3:47 pm
It really sounds like bowls is going to get licht fired in the next year or so. The sad part of this situation is that the fans have to go through it, For one or two more seasons.
January 9th, 2026 at 4:03 pm
Licht plus Bowles is better than Hatbaugh plus who? My beagle maybe?
January 9th, 2026 at 5:24 pm
Bowles is gonna wish he resigned before all is said and done. His failures are so systemic in every single way that he won’t escape the scorn that he so richly deserves every single day moving forward. Every day. I want to vomit when I hear he’s “earned” another year as HC.
He’s earned NOTHING.
January 9th, 2026 at 6:21 pm
This would have been awesome if it would have come to fruition for the Bucs to have coach Harbaugh. Remember no risk it no biscuit haha ha.
