And Now, The Wait

January 3rd, 2026

New Saints fan.

Lavonte David said it best.

After the game, David, the stud Bucs linebacker who may have played his last home game tonight, said, “I never thought I would see the day where I am rooting for the Saints.”

Indeed.

Thanks to the Bucs plunging to new depths since the bye, the Bucs now need help to make the playoffs next week. Help from the slimy Saints.

Thanks to the convoluted NFL playoff tiebreakers, the Bucs have done their part. Now, the slimy Saints have to beat the Dixie Chicks tomorrow. If Atlanta wins, the Bucs’ season ends.

As lousy Lovie Smith would say, simple as that.

David said he’ll try to make the cough medicine go down easier pulling for the slimy Saints because he knows a couple of players on the slimy Saints and will pretend he’s rooting for them.

Whatever it takes, Lavonte. Whatever it takes. If the slimy Saints win, you can take a long, hot shower knowing you have at least another week of practice.

And the reward will be whichever NFC West juggernaut.

  2. Told You Says:

I’m just glad Bowles won his final game as an NFL head coach.

  3. LawrenceDawsey Says:

I wouldn’t put it pass the saints to just coast through tomorrow’s game. You know, they probably really don’t want to help the Bucs make the playoffs

  4. Lakeland Says:

The Bucs should have did like Arthur Blank
Hire a outside consultant firm to evaluate the team
Evaluate everyone involved with the team

  5. Told You Says:

Uh, Arthur Blank has Raheem Morris as his coach. You really don’t know anything about coaching do you?

  6. Miller5252 Says:

Imagine if you guys would have done “whatever it takes” the last 6 weeks. Feel bad for David. He’s been an all time great and had to watch a coach just fall apart and not do whatever it took to win! No changes week to week just the same crap over and over again

  7. Lightning Buc Says:

    HAHAHHA, so true

  8. Spicoli Says:

How, did LVD your or break Derrick Brooks all time franchise tackling record?

  9. BigMacAttack Says:

I never in my life thought I’d say this but Geaux Saints lol. And still fire Todd Bowles.

  10. Kidfloflo Says:

It will be so apropos for us to win today..only to get frogged by the Falcons tomorrow and miss playoffs! …im gonna buy a butler for my butler’s butler on my new yacht cousin’s paid for with his passing total against us…and pound the Falcons to win!$$$ since its our fate and bed we made when we couldn’t win one more game in last 2 months!!

  11. Say what? Says:

Saints will come to play. They have a four game winning streak and a coach trying to build something who they are playing hard for. They have an impressive young QB who has a shot to win ROY and a couple of talented young RBs who are hungry. Olave being out hurts, but I have no doubt they will play to win. And I know they have the better coach. The game will go down to the wire. And the silver lining if the saints lose is that it will ensure that the Falcons bring Raheem Morris back for another year.

  12. VOT Says:

One win in any of the past what, 8 games and this is a moot point

Todd has led us to the abyss and we are abysmal

We must fire him and the entire pitiful staff

  13. Jmarkbuc Says:

Just one more win, ONE in the second half of the season and we wouldn’t be in this predicament.

This team doesn’t deserve a playoff spot.

Bowles and Licht STILL have to go.

  14. Rod Munch Says:

The Falcons falling flat on their faces after a big upset win is about as certain as it gets in the NFL — teams like that always spike the ball into their own groin, always. Plus there’s the fact that the Saints have been the best team in the NFC South for the last month.

  15. Jugheadfla2 Says:

3rd and 28……never forget………I will continue to post this so that you won’t be distracted by this win and focus on why we are in this position

  16. George R Says:

Panthers have to root for ATL.

  17. JohnQCitizen Says:

Rod Munch reminds me of Bowles.

  18. Tautology Says:

This team is so embarrassing, even in victory. These coaches are high school caliber. There is talent on this team but also major holes which can greatly overshadow that talent.

  19. JimBobBuc Says:

LVD played his heart out today and willed the D to a solid effort. He’s been a leader and great player for the Bucs and deserves to be in the HOF.

  20. Jmarkbuc Says:

Comments on Saints fan sites are about what you would expect..

“ I think I’m pulling for the Bucs. I don’t want them to win the NFCS again, but a Bucs win would mean the Bucs and Panthers would HAVE to watch our game tomorrow. Also, it would mean McMillian probably doesn’t have a good game and gives Shough a better shot at OROTY. And It would mean the Panthers would have to pull for the Falcons, which would make anyone not a Falcon fan throw up”

    And..
“ I think it would be great if the Bucs needed us to win tomorrow and we have someone running the game winner to the endzone but downs the ball at the one giving the Bucs the middle finger and we draft higher.”

  21. RASH Says:

35 years ticket holder aaand have never ever rooted against us but this scares me we might back in to playoffs and bring Bozo the Bowles back. he is hideous dumb pedictable 8 years as a hed coach he is really bad and the players just slide by knowing he not gonna change he is horrible tried his best to lose today holy smokes

  22. Ex-Browns02 Says:

Saints have been showing that “want to win” play late-season. Young guys playing for contracts!

Besides, this is a revenge game between two non-playoff teams as the Falcons beat the Saints in round one.

Could be a fun game. I’m looking forward to watching it.

    Go Bucs!

  23. Tom Says:

    FLUSH TOILET BOWLES

  24. 76doug Says:

Seems crazy to root for the Saints only to get our as$kicked in the first round. But if it gets Bowles fired all the better.

  25. FortMyersDave Says:

JMark, back when Lovie was coach the Bucs tanked the final game of the season to the Saints to get Jameis over Mariota and a couple of Saints fans I know were angry that Payton let his team win as they were not going to the playoffs. They wanted the better draft pick and the Titans to get the overall #1 pick and for the Saints to make Lovie eat a W. Players will probably still want to win so I doubt if they intentionally lose though any intelligent Saint fans would probably want Bowles back. What worries me is Rah, that guy can get the yips and his team has gotten beat on each of his last 3 season finales counting his last game as Bucs coach.

  26. BucsFan81 Says:

Honestly I think the Saints win this. It’s hard to beat the same team twice in a season and Atlanta already beat the Saints. Either way u don’t think Bowles or Licht are going anywhere. I do think they will fire the special teams coach and Offensive coordinator when the season is over.

  27. Jmarkbuc Says:

    FortMyersDave

What can you say… it’s a Bucs life.

I’m ready for a new culture, not this phony kumbaya one.

Not having a respected Defense in Tampa is sacrilege.

  28. orlbucfan Says:

    nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  29. Rod Munch Says:

Just throwing this out there, but the Saints don’t have to win the game for the Bucs to get in, if it ends in a tie, the Bucs still get in. So if the NFL really wants to drag out the drama, that’s your scenario.

  30. Rick in Ocala Says:

Does anyone remember a player on the Saints (maybe Cam Jordan?) saying their rivalry was with Atlanta, not the Bucs? I have a feeling it’s going to be a very motivated Saints team tomorrow, if that’s really how they feel.

  31. Yusef Says:

I hate knowing this is how LVD will go out, hopefully he’ll get to play at least 1 more game, he deserved better… So much better… Let the wait begin…..

    ———-

The Saints, Falcons and Panthers are all too boring to care about.

I still hate the fact the Bucs left in the NFC Central. I can get behind hating the stupid Packers, mocking the idiot Lions fans who think they’re going to win the SB every year because they win their 2nd preseason game, and laughing at the Vikings fans for missing a perfect season because they lost to the Bucs – and the fact they’ve never won a SB despite being to twice as many as the Bucs.

But the Saints, Falcons and Panthers. Yawn.

With that said, yes, the Saints and Falcons both hate other. It has to do with the actual cities. Both are 3rd world dumps and they fight over who gets last on the worst places to live list.
