After unleashing a profanity-laced tirade 10 days ago after the loss to the Falcons, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles was much more chill and upbeat after today’s loss at Carolina.
This was the showdown for the division against a longtime rival, a brutal loss and the Bucs’ sixth loss in seven games.
Bowles was almost giving off a we’re-on-the-right-track attitude at his postame news conference, even noting “we got some great leaders on this team that’ll lead us there.”
That comment made Joe run head-first into a wall. Please stop praising the leadership, Coach. However “great” these Bucs leaders are, they’re no longer getting it done.
The quarterback is in fade mode is has stopped making those around him better. The big-money right tackle had his mind somewhere else today, and the Bucs sure do miss tackles with the best of them.
As for the coaching leadership, well, that’s not working either. And as Bowles stunningly said 10 days ago, coaches have done all they can do.

The players are not calling the plays. You can see they are working hard. The game plan to run heavy today was idiotic. We had all our WR’s back and the Carolina pass D pretty bad. You can tell the game plan was to not lose. Which is not winning football.

No to kubiak. Every year teams hire the hot OC or DC only to falter later. need leader of men with a proven track record who knows how to run an NFL program. Then hire a good OC and DC. someone competitive,fiery mindset & aggressive offensively. Some like vrabel or McKay or coen

I blame Baker but the Line doing no favors.
Every time they blitz it is a sack. We need more designed roll outs but coaching prefers to put him in Shot gun and then pocket collapses in on him and he has nowhere to go most times.

What did he say? He must be kidding. Or he has no idea what to do or he found a book of excuses somewhere on line. The game plan to run to keep your defense off the field only works if you score touchdowns. First down On the five yard line and you end with field goal so you lose. I had a feeling that Todd would find a way to lose after that.

The Glazers fired Dungy after their playoff lost to the Eagles
They fired Gruden after 4 consecutive losses to finish 9-7, and missed the playoffs. They also fired GM Bruce Allen, and promoted Mark Dominik, and Raheem Norris.
Now is the time to get rid of Licht and Bowles, and the entire coaching staff
Bring in a true talent evaluator as the next GM
Let him pick the new HC, and make decisions on these players

Like many of you, I have been saying for a long time that I’m tired of losing to inferior teams. Today I realized that a team is not the sum of its parts, however, talented. It can be more than that with good leadership and coaching, or in our case, it can be a lot less. We are not losing to inferior teams, we have become an inferior team. The scoreboard is reflecting reality and has for many months. Coaching matters.

Maybe.
All this team needs is speed, better tackling, coverage, a pass rush, better DL play, better OL play, STs that can cover kicks, better punting, creative play calling, consistent QB play, and a non-soft D strategy.
So, really, all this team has is leadership, and a solid kicker and long snapper.
Frankly, at 7-8 they may be over performing.

There are good players all over this roster.
They started hot, got high on themselves, got complacent, thought guys coming back would automatically put them in the W column. They are in terrible schemes on both sides of the ball.
These are pros who shouldn’t need their hands held but this team is bad due to the coaching staff. They have a country club there, no accountability… guys getting paid, the coaches aren’t doing what they are paid to do!
This is year 4! Somehow Bowles is still here even though some of us been telling you for years he can’t do it. Worst game plans I’ve ever seen, no adjustments, no fire. Get him outta here now!

we can not have great leaders and have a losing streak from hell what is todd smoking if we are so great why are they not leading us as a franchise and fan base to wins..the pulse of this team is ‘get done’ not ‘get it done’ and i stand on that until something changes. i asked for man coverage got it and even that did not help we had bryce young playing madden today scramble left and right defenders commit and leave a guy running free get the ball moves the chains its been happening all year and there is no way to coach the dumb out of these players in 2 weeks..pack it up folks find a referee you like and root for him instead tampa is not those boys this year.

I am not sure if I want to cry or throw up or both
There were some good times this season… beating the 49ers and the Sea-Hawks, those games were exciting, but even then the defense was suspect

The problem starts at the ownership level & filters down from there.
The Glazers have been too patient in allowing mediocre play become the standard in the face of “winning division titles” which in the case of the NFC South has been an albatross / red herring….It’s been the worst division in the NFL for several years and the Bucs have only won it due to their rivals being embroiled in rebuilding processes.
You can say Licht has been paying for the Brady years dead money contracts all you want, but he was given a gift in that Baker played for peanuts on a prove it deal & then signed for less than market value….The real problem is that the GM has made bad decisions in regards to overpaying players & not valuing innovative young coaching….Winfield, Evans, Godwin, Goedeke were bad deals.
Letting Liam Coen walk was worse. A true leader of men would have had the fortitude to make the hard decision to swap out Bowles vs allowing Coen to go to Jax.
A good GM that believed in his scouting department would have known he could benefit more from allowing certain guys to walk away vs overpaying for declining talent or those that only showed 1 yr of performance just to get paid.
But here we are, as Bucs fans, watching the season spiraling out of control and down the toilet. With Bowles still being a truly mediocre head coach running a stagnant defense & overpaid players playing their way to the early Caribbean vacation instead of the playoffs. While ownership sets on their preverbal thumbs… As Coen and Jax are riding high on their way to a playoff run with a lesser roster but much better leadership.

Being down 40% of our starting offensive line has turned this team into a pumpkin. Not throwing the ball to the 4 best receivers in the game seems bone-headed too. We’ve had success running the ball against Carolina but needed to be prepared for that not to work today due to our rotten guards. Sure enough, we needed to shift game plan in the second quarter to throwing much more. And using an outlet receiver when blitzed. Ugh!
