Was The Bucs’ Losing Streak Tied To Tom Moore?

December 2nd, 2025

Tom Moore’s boss weighs in.

The Bucs employ an 87-year-old assistant coach who has key responsibilities and arrives at work in the wee hours daily.

That coach, Tom Moore, missed a few weeks of game prep recently.

The Bucs lost all those games as Moore attended to personal business. Apparently, there was an illness in his family.

Moore returned last week and the Bucs snapped their losing streak on Sunday. Todd Bowles gave Moore a game ball in the postgame locker room and addressed the sage of One Buc Palace yesterday on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

“Our whole three-game losing streak he was out. So for him to come back this week was only fitting,” Bowles said. “And he got the game ball, actually, because he brings so much knowledge to all the coaches and this organization with all the things he tells us and tries to [instill] in us. He’s such a valuable piece, we can’t do too much without him.”

Is it possible the Bucs lost an edge with Moore out of the building? Joe won’t dismiss that as a possibility.

Invaluable resource and he should already be in the HOF as a “Contributor.”

  2. SB~LV Says:

    😂😂😂😂
Scraping the bottom of the excuse barrel!
Bucs have been getting their collective asses kicked
On the field and along the sidelines!
This has been a BAD football team
    So far…
    It is what it is!

  3. PSL Bob Says:

Seriously? I’m sure he brings some valuable insight to the team, but to think we lost those 3 games because he wasn’t there is ridiculous. If that’s the case, the Glazers need to fire all of the coaching staff and bring in someone that knows what he’s doing.

  4. Weekendwarrior6 Says:

Can Mr. Moore rush the passer?

  5. Nutterbuccer Says:

No its Todd Bowles defense like usual….Liam Coen gonna haunt us for years a

  6. Rob Says:

Wow. “We can’t do too much without him.” Moore is an inspiration to be coaching at 87. But to think we can’t do too much without him is a direct reflection of Bowles poor judgement and lack of organizational leadership skills.

  7. Stallworth Says:

Are we seriously doing this? The blame game gets pointed at everyone except that one person that never takes accountability for his team’s performance on the field.

  8. infomeplease Says:

PDL Bob makes a very valid point!

  9. infomeplease Says:

Stsllworth too makes a valid point!

  10. infomeplease Says:

Rob too makes a very valid point!

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

No offense to Tom Moore…..but HELL NO!!!

  12. Texas Bucs Fan Says:

Another excuse. Winning or losing is a direct result of talent on the field and the ability for coaches that should take that talent to perform every game and not use excuses for poor performance

  13. johnnythemoon Says:

BDS is real . I do not care about wins I want Bowles gone . The hell with giving a 87 year old man who many players admire a lil props I must attack the coach because I must be right that Bowles is bad. If we have to go back to 1983-1996 or 2009-2019 so be it but Bowles must go. Wins and playoff trips be damn Bowles must go ..Again Bowles must go .. I would give the SUPER BOWL back just to get rid of Bowles and he not get any credit for Super Bowl.

  14. Bejeezusbelt Says:

Well maybe he helps the defense even more as well. The defense got as many sacks Sunday as they had the 3 games before total.

  15. gp Says:

So what you’re saying is… NOBODY in the building is capable of game prep besides Tom Moore?

    OK!
    Gotcha.

  16. Zwak Says:

Why would Bowles admit this, so Tom Moore is running this team and without him they are lost?

  17. johnnythemoon Says:

For the love of gawd he gave Moore some props on what he means to the team …Woke mob on this site.

  18. jcscycles Says:

This is turning into a Troll fest.

  19. Stanglassman Says:

Guys I don’t think he was being entirely serious about losing the games because Coach Moore was gone. It was just a way to show him their appreciation of him and what he does as an offensive assistant & legendary coach.

  20. infomeplease Says:

Isn’t Tom Moore a consultant to the offense? Although the Offense could be playing better, considering the circumstances… BM6 being injured and being without many other key starters, the main problem is the Defense and defensive play caller not having a consistent formula to stop any QB from moving down the field and scoring!!!

  21. Billy Bucco Says:

Tom Moore probably makes as much as Todd Bowels does.

  22. Kgh4life Says:

The Bucs must be grateful for Tom Moore, however, he’s 87yrs old and the Bucs should bring in an infusion of youth and different perspective. The same thing should be said for the defense. A bunch of old coaches that have been overseeing an inconsistent defense for the past 7 yrs.

  23. johnnythemoon Says:

Moore was dealing with his wife being Ill …Th nerve of Bowles to give the old Coach some love.. I hope Bowles docked his pay for the 3 games he missed.

  24. Deeboooo Says:

Duh. Who do yall think the real coach is???

  25. NYbucsfan Says:

No the losing was tied directly to Bowles, he stinks!

  26. David Graham Says:

I think it’s more of a tribute to Tom Moore I don’t think anybody’s actually saying that the reason we lost is because Tom Moore wasn’t there. Come on people

  27. Oxycondomns Says:

Moore is there to translate to bowles in laymans terms the calls griz is calling

  28. ChiBuc Says:

Talk about a house of cards. If an 87 yo assistant is your foundational bedrock, I sure hope everyone in that bldg got their flu shot. The thought of it is as progressive as Bowles’ defense

  29. Deeboooo Says:

A lot of New England band wagon fans still hanging around here after the Brady years.

Yall snowbirds got your golden boy in Maye, move on

  30. 813bucboi Says:

    thats explains it!!!!

we all knew Grizz was over his head but now we know Tom is holding his hand and wiping his mouth…

    Grizz is embarrassing

    GO BUCS!!!!

  31. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“A bunch of old coaches that have been overseeing an inconsistent defense for the past 7 yrs.”

Hyperbole at it’s finest considering we’ve won SUPER BOWL in that time frame. Wthelly?

  32. PSL Bob Says:

I wasn’t dissing Bowles or Moore. I was scoffing at Joe’s take on the situation. Joe said, “Is it possible the Bucs lost an edge with Moore out of the building? Joe won’t dismiss that as a possibility.” No, that is not a possibility. “An edge,” is what Joe wrote. Joe did not write that Moore runs the darn team and is the be-all-end-all. Joe is a coaching matters guy and it’s possible Moore does more than what fans or media know in the 12+ hours a day he’s at the facility.–Joe
If it is, I’ll go back to my assertion that the Glazers should fire the entire coaching staff. No one but Tom Moore can give the team an “edge”?

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    What he said.

    Let’s all just move on.

    Please!

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

A lot of focus on the negative after a win around here. This is not my Happy Place right now.

  35. Rod Munch Says:

No disrespect, but I think it was more about playing the Patriots, Bills and Rams — then playing the Cardinals.

  36. CleanHouse Says:

We lost to three teams that are better than us, for a myriad of reasons.

  37. Fred Says:

Yall complain so much I wish yall had the same energy for attending home games

  38. JustVisiting Says:

“He’s such a valuable piece, we can’t do too much without him” is either false and excessive flattery, or it’s true and a +much+ bigger problem.

  39. ModHairKen Says:

Tom Moore is a player’s coach, smarter than hell, learned his craft.

    And he does not quit.

    I admire him.

  40. Colonel Angus Says:

He’s our good luck charm, stay healthy my man!

  41. David Says:

Merely a coincidence. He might bring a lot to the table, but they lost because the defense decided to act like a NYG kicker

  42. Coconut Doughnut Says:

I hope we have a plan to replace Tom, it appears he only has a good 20 years of coaching left in him 😂

  43. Marine Buc Says:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

That was a good one Joe!

    Got anymore jokes for me?

  44. adam from ny Says:

a noggin like that belongs on mount rushmore or a 100 dollar bill…

if he’s still alive and kickin’ and with the bucs at 100, they gotta rename the stadium after him, or give him a street…like tom moore lane or tom moore way…

all hail tom moore!…i have no problem with him running for senate

  45. adam from ny Says:

in fact make him the new nfl commissioner

  46. Vegasbuc Says:

If he dies put his ashes in a trophy case. Fire Todd

  47. keydoc Says:

he is an inspiration for sure and a role model,
blessings and best wishes to coach moore

  48. NCbucfan Says:

I love coach Moore, but could it be the fact that we lost to 3 MVP candidate QB’s, plus Todd’s dumb decisions. We beat a team with a career backup QB. A wins a win, but let’s call a spade a spade here.

  49. Bucnjim Says:

I believe it’s the coaches way to physiologically motivate the players for the remaining games of the season. Superstition is a real thing for most players and the majority of the fans on this site. Hey look Moore is back and we won…Must have been him. Plus he won’t be missing the rest of the games this year.
