Five weeks ago in Buffalo, Joe shared, somewhat in disbelief after a tough loss, how Lavonte David and his Bucs teammates felt the team was on the right track.
Contrast that to this afternoon in Charlotte, following the Bucs losing sixth game in seven tries at the hands of the Panthers. The Bucs have now lost three in a row, all to sadsack quarterbacks and second-rate teams.
David noted he’s not worried about team’s confidence but he acknowledge the results have him flummoxed.
“It just be weird,” David said. “You know, we have great energy, great weeks of practice, great preparation, having good [stints] throughout the football game and I know where something happens. So we just gotta, we just gotta, whatever it is man, we just gotta hone in on doing us and get a win.”
Yes, that was David verbatim. He’s struggling to make sense of the mess that is the Bucs.

In my opinion (and we all know about opinions) Baker will determine what happens. Will he want to stay or want to ask for a trade. He is in a good position as he has only one year left here. Either way he will find a job.
If Baker is willing to stay and play with Grizzard then I believe the owners will demand Bowles hire a new DC if he wants to remain HC.
If Baker doesn’t want Grizzard then I believe the owners hire all new coaches on both sides of the ball.
If Baker doesn’t like the new direction he could ask for a trade.
If Bowles leaves Baker will assess his options.
Baker will determine Grizzard’s future.
If Baker asks for a trade then there a multitude of reasons for blame for him wanting to go.
Regardless the P.R. folks will have plenty to work with in the spin cycle.

Man the glazers already have coaches lined up. This team needs to be overhauled. Give baker one more shot with a competent coaching staff and if that doesn’t work, launch him too.

This is a matter of coaching being the problem. Yes, they have excellent practices, but they are clearly not practicing the situational football that every good coach talks about. This team is not ready for prime time ever, and they are not prepared for pressure football. They have the talent to do more than they are doing. Coaches are not being held accountable for their results. How many games have we lost because of bad special teams? How many games with no pressure from the D-line? No changes with the defensive scheme. Only a blind man didn’t see Canales outcoaching Bowles. He did this for 17 weeks while he was here in Tampa and now knows how Bowles would call a game, especially when he is desperate.
Grizzard is not a good OC yet. He doesn’t have a feel for a game, and Bowles’ demands are holding the offense back. He claimed that if he won the time-of-possession battle, he would win. How did that work out? Even Gronk at halftime saw that the defense isn’t good. Bowles is too stubborn to change. I like him and have been on his side, but this year, it is crystal clear he is in over his head now.
We need a coaching change now!!!!!

It just seems like on almost every single new post on this website that someone always brings up how well Liam Coen or the Jags are doing………I’M SICK OF HEARING ABOUT IT……just move on with your damn lives because that ship 🚢 has sailed
INSTEAD……..Bucs fans should be talking about how we’re going to improve the team
I think the Bucs will improve immediately by firing the Coaching Staff and the GM
…..and, they gotta find players that “fit”…..sorry, but the Bucs do not even have quality starters on both offense and defense……ESPECIALLY the defense

Well when you put your MVP QB in a position to win the game three weeks in a row, and he fails miserably, yeah, that’s weird. Almost makes me think he isn’t the MVP.
Anywho, two more chances for Baker to show-up this year when it matters.

The weird part that he doesn’t understand is these players aren’t as good as they used to be. Lavonte got pushed back by Chubba on 2 plays that wouldn’t have happened a few years ago. AWJ is playing like a mid tier safety, not the leagues best like 2 years ago. Vita wasn’t impactful today. The corners played ok but Dean got burned for the touchdown and the rookies are still rookies. Our pass rush is non existent. We have some nice guys but the talent isn’t there in the defense. We have maybe 1 pro bowler. That isn’t enough talent to win a lot of games. We need 4-5 pro bowlers.

Bowles has to go but I bet Licht gets a pass from the Glazers because he brought in Arians and Brady. Bucs guaranteed Baker’s contract next year so he will be back too and will be asked to learn a new system. However Licht has to bring in another QB to compete nexy season, not just a washed up JAG like Teddy. Baker is probably playing hurt so that is on Licht for not having a competent backup. Other teams have decent back up QBs but not Tampa. If they did, I bet Baker would have been “rested”.

They also said he single handedly won those games earlier this year — but the idea he’s single handedly lost these games, well, that’s ridiculous, it’s the head coach, it’s the OC, it’s the offensive line, it’s Evans, it’s Otton, it’s e2, it’s Godwin, it’s Bucky, it’s White, it’s Tucker, it’s McMillan, it’s the special teams, it’s the weather, it’s the sun in his eyes, it’s the team medical staff… it’s always everyone but Baker.
But an average QB wins these last three games, all three of them. He’s playing well below average right now.

A competent coaching staff has this team at 10 wins right now.
The DL sucks at getting after the QB, the LBs aren’t fast enough or good enough in coverage and the ST are subpar. Those are the main flaws with this roster.
Keep Mike and Dean … Flood the front 7 in the draft and FA and get competent coaches in here, Bucs are battling for the #1 seed next year. Coaching matters that much. This roster is not bad. They are floundering under extreme ineptitude in the leadership positions. No accountability.

I have to apply the problem solving principle “Occam’s razor”.

I was blasted early on for saying we were way overrated. We aren’t even close to a good team. A decent middle of the pack team could never go 1-6, NEVER! We’re one of the worst teams in the league. After the Saints game, I said we need to blow this team up, and it’s only getting worse. Thanks for all your efforts, players and coaches, but it’s not working. Good luck with your new squads. Hopefully 26 will be an improvement

I had been defending Bowles on here the past few weeks, not because I think he is the answer, but, because I thought that Licht deserved some of the blame for placing so little attention on the the glaring problem on last year’s team, the pass rush. But, I have a hard time supporting a coach who makes inconsistent and irrational decisions when calling his defense. Example, the Panthers got the ball back with a little over a minute left in the first half and the Bucs up 10 to 6. I was saying at that moment that we have to keep them from getting a cheap field goal before the half, but Bowles seemed determined to play a prevent type defense and allow 7 or 8 yard passes over and over. I was calling for a few blitzes to shake things up, but Bowles continued his cautious approach and allowed the Panthers to easily drive down to the 20 yard line with 12 seconds left. At that point I said to people around me that we have given them a FG at the his point, but at least we will go in with a 10 to 9 lead and get the ball to start the half. Silly me, because what does Bowles decide to do after playing prevent until the Panthers were assured an FG? He safety blitzes and leaves his corners on Islands. The crazy thing is that this approach was unlikely to stop the impending FG even if a sack had occured, it would have just made it longer. But, it was the only thing in that moment that could have allowed a touchdown and demoralizing blow that would take the air out of the Bucs at half time. I am still scratching my head over that decision…..it was inconsistent with his strategy on the drive and it made no logical sense. You have to make sense or you lose me. It seems that many have reached that same conclusion in their own ways.

Same old tales of woe. Invisible defense with 1:20 to go before half leads to any easy score for Carolina. Big shake up coming. Bowles can take Grizz, Dean, Dennis, Zyon, with him when he is sent home No offense rhythm. Horrible play calling.

Not brimming with confidence that the heirs of Malcolm can make a good decision on head coaching moves. It is a crapshoot to begin with, but since daddy Malcolm has relinquished the reign, the boys have given us Radio Raheem, Schiano, Lovie, and Dirk. I’d say that there was some luck involved with the flyer on Arians due to the JL connection with him…BA proceeded to luck into Brady and the BA force fed us the Todd Bowles sh!t sandwich.

Where to even begin. Defense isnt just Bowles how can these guys straight up miss tackles and get burned dean n Morrison. Bowles called the right play for those. Bowles also called the right blitz and our guys just can’t get there. Not totally Bowles fault. Deff some of the playcalling on defense is Bowles fault so I’m not giving him a pass just being realistic. Offense is just as bad or maybe worse. All that talent wasted by grizz. Oline doesn’t give baker any time. Play calling is trash. Baker turning the ball over again late in the game just can’t happen. I know Mikey should have kept running his route but what Mikey saw was his QB about to scramble so he cut off to black and baker should have ran. Just dumb.
