Hard Words For Luke Goedeke

December 24th, 2025

Stud Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke was the opposite of locked in Sunday against the Panthers in Charlotte.

Yes, the home crowd was hyped, but this was no scary cauldron of extreme noise like in Kansas City, New Orleans or Seattle.

Goedeke had no excuse for his mistake-riddled game and Todd Bowles let him have it on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night.

“It’s concentration. You gotta concentrate more,” Bowles said.

“We can’t have our starting tackle our right tackle getting four penalties. He’s gotta be better than that. He knows that and he’ll be better next week at the same time. Everybody else fought [on the offensive line]. Everybody else battled. We won our share. We gave up a sack or two here and there, but we won our share and they battle tough.”

It was a rare rough day for Luke Goedeke. And it was inexcusable.

Somehow, the Bucs had seven penalties in the fourth quarter on Sunday in the biggest game of the season. Six were accepted. That’s a team that has its collective head in the wrong place.

  1. Boise Bucs Fan Says:

List of people who have covered for Bowles horrendous coaching. Arians, Brady, Canales, Cohen.

  2. Paratrooper Buc Says:

I was wondering if he took another hit to the head and had a mild concussion or he was too focused on helping the right guard.

  3. Mr. Barf Says:

Well I like my Charmin Ultra Strong. Bucs like theirs Ultra Soft.

  4. #1bucsfan Says:

Like you said Joe it’s rare. We’ve watched even the greatest players of all time have bad games. Shoot Wirfs made the pro bowl on his worst season of his career. Like Bowles said he’ll be better this week.

  5. Teacherman Says:

    Wirfs at LG.

    Chukwuma at LT.

    Why are we deluding ourselves?

    We can’t protect Baker.

    We can’t open holes.

    We can’t win like this!

Get our 5 best linemen on the field!

And Chukwuma is far better than MJ or Mullet Top Lego Man Feeney.

  6. Coburn Says:

Bowles additional statements is delusional. Anytime they actually tried to throw more than 10 yards the pressure immediately came at Baker

  7. Lakeland Says:

Goedeke is suffering from the same Illness as

    McCollum
    Winfield
    Wirfs
    Godwin

    They Got Paid

  8. Whatevs Says:

Bowles assigning blame to anyone but himself.

  9. Told You Says:

@Lakeland, not fair to have Godwin on this list. No way! All the rest are stealing from us.

    Luke’s play was horrendous…massive choke.

  10. Whatevs Says:

Hard to see the decline after. 6-2 ????

Are you kidding me. This decline started when they “hired” Bowles.

He has infected this roster with softness from day one. A weak division coupled with very good OCs hid the terrible coaching and culture created by Bowles and Licht.

It just caught up to him. Bad OC hire and Licht’s Ring of Losers taking over the team finished the job.

  11. Tony Says:

    @Told You

I was kind of torn on Godonkey from the beginning when he was coming out. I don’t remember any of their OL getting called for that many penalties in a game. Maybe Donovan or Trueblood.

  12. ModHairKen Says:

It’s always something with this team. Dean was out of position. Zyon is bored. Baker is injured. Evans is injured. Godwin is injured. McMillan is injured. Wirfs is injured. Goedeke is injured. The G are injured. Irving is injured. Grizzard is new. Goedeke can’t concentrate. Rookie wall.

Enough. You’ve got two games to win. And for God’s sake, if a player makes a play, the sideline needs to be erupting!

    STFU and play football.

  13. Tony Says:

    @ModHairKen

Next it’ll be the cheerleaders were distracting them.

  14. firethecannons Says:

Goedeke is paid many millions, I don’t give a sht about it being a rare rough day (which is not true anyway). This team needs to be blown up. Trade him in the offseason as 4 penalties indicates he is one stupid MF that don’t need to be on this team any longer.

  15. Steven007 Says:

Teacher, I remain baffled at trying to figure out what kind of logic you’re using. Why would we remove one of the best players at his position to an entirely new position? Especially after he’s already moved from one side of the line to the other. Not to mention the money he’s being paid which is definitely not a position fit for the move you suggest. And all of this based on what? A replacement player having a handful of decent snaps? With all the issues this team has, I’m not sure why you keep choosing this narrative as your favorite talking point. Especially since it’s never going to happen.

  16. Steven007 Says:

Ken, you’re not lying. Everything you stated is accurate. But as they say in the business world, The fish stinks from the head down. Hard to see how the coach survives unless we make it to the championship game. And let’s be honest, that’s simply not going to happen.

  17. Durango 95 Says:

Either people on this board have greatly changed their opinion on the job Todd Bowles is doing from this time last year or the people that are now posting here are different from those that posted here last year. I would like to think that it’s people that have changed their opinion. That guy is a stinkin’ lousy coach and I only wish people would have realized that sooner. Regardless…

The Glazers are on the clock.

  18. GangstaRIB Says:

Godeke had twice as many penalties than were called. Not sure if he got hammered in NC before the game or what.

  19. Stpetematt Says:

Could try Chuk at guard. DEFINITELY NOT Wirfs.

  20. purplebeard Says:

    I feel bad now

  21. purplebeard Says:

If you try to be an institution, as in the best team in the crappiest division, you will always fall into mediocrity. Don’t let Baker’s fire die

  22. purplebeard Says:

And baker? Quit doing ads during the season! 😔 Focus!!

  23. Jmarkbuc Says:

Lakeland, you’re wrong about Godwin. He’s battling back from a major injury. And he’s producing.

  24. Lastbeing Says:

It’s clear. The players have given up. How do you lose 6 out of 7 games with this roster? Bowles it’s a little too late with speaking up. You’re a great coordinator but proven you’re not a Super Bowl caliber HC. This roster had promise but we are wasting our years and a window away. Baker will be fine and the team will improve after the season. They need some juice and inspiration and a good draft. Not the same old boring a** excuses and blunders of why we can get it done. Get with kubiak and lafleur and build the defense back in the draft. LFG guys!

  25. Noclu4u Says:

I screamed and yelled for the Bucs to let bowles go and promote Coen. Don’t get me wrong I like bowles and I think he is a good coach but Coen is the most innovative coach I’ve seen in years. I’m talking Bill Walsh innovative. When Coen was here everyone was racing about his running scheme. Yes it was outstanding but few talked about how wide open receivers were. I watched a lot of tape and there was multiple guys wide open over and over. His pre snap motion is good too. Look at the Jags now. Look at Treavor Lawrence now. He is balling out the last 6 weeks. He’s playing the best ball of his career in the pros. Grizzard is a rookie and I do think he will improve. I think he has done good for a rookie offensive coordinator. He needs to make adjustments that counter the opponents adjustments. That’s the sign of a seasoned offensive coordinator. Bucs have been through a lot of injuries this season and losing can become habitual very quick. Personally I wouldn’t be unhappy if the Bucs tanked the rest of the way. I know that’s a terrible thing to say but I really doubt they are going to the Superbowl. Would love to see them draft in the top ten. A draft day trade could land them the best pass rusher in the draft. They need linebackers in the first 2 rounds.
    As always Go Bucs.

  26. Vegasbuc Says:

Don’t worry big guy you weren’t the only guy messing up all day. Fire Todd

  27. Ant Says:

Jason licht has got 2 go. Hey thanks for bringin in Brady.

  28. Stup is as Stupid does Says:

    Stupid is as stupid does

  29. orlbucfan Says:

Hey joes, you guys were all over Goedeke’s butt from the beginning. Own up to it, for once!

  30. 407buc Says:

Goedeke must have bet the under ,it seemed like he was point shaving

  31. Garth Vader Says:

Honestly it feels like every player on the team regressed.

  32. Since 1995 fan Says:

WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT HOW THEY COMPLETELY TACKLED OUR KICKER AND GOT NO PENALTY…i heard no one explain this

  33. Hodad Says:

Barton is the one who should move to guard, and the Bucs should get a true center. That’s the problem with Licht’s drafting college LTs, and making guards, and centers out of them. Doesn’t always fit, and when it does it takes time to work. Marpet played three spots before becoming a pro bowl guard only to retire early. Licht does the same with college D ends, Hall, Roberts, and trys to make DTs out of them. Insane when you really think about it.

  34. James Patrick Reilly Says:

That was very not normal for him. My thought while it was happening is that he has an undiagnosed concussion. He should get a test and then treated for the attention problems secondary to the concussion.

  35. Daniel Z Says:

We can keep rolling through each of these losses and blame 1-2 players every week so that we have a convenient scapegoat for what we’re seeing on the field. OR, we can realize that the buck stops at the top and get rid of the defensive guru, Mr. 500. Before the season started, he said he had the players he needed on the defensive side of the ball, so why has there been zero improvement?

I have been asking them to get rid of Bowles for a couple of years now, but decided to give him this season to prove me wrong because of the cap issues and turn-over at the OC post-SB. There are no more excuses, he just isn’t the guy.

  36. Wesley Cole Says:

2024.. Should have gone after Derrick Henry, had the cap space! Fired/Demoted Bowles! Hired Offensive Minded Head Coach, better yet given the job to our O/C! Revamped Offensive Line!
Spent the rest of draft and free agency on defense! Much better 2025!

  37. Wesley Cole Says:

If you run the numbers with King Henry in both 2024&25 so far, you come up with stellar results!
