Celebrating Dan Feeney
December 1st, 2025
Joe sometimes calls Bucs right guard Dan Feeney the most dangerous man in Tampa.
And that’s not praise.
Feeney has delivered some pass blocking that makes Joe shake like it’s 2014.
The Bucs signed Feeney, a 31-year-old veteran, off Buffalo’s practice squad this fall and he’s settled into the starting job after backup Luke Haggard got injured. Whether Haggard should be playing now over Feeney is a story for another day.
Feeney let Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat run right by him for a sack yesterday, but Feeney definitely has bright spots to his game. He’s not Charlie Heck-level scary.
In fact, Todd Bowles thinks he’s got a hell of a player in Feeney.
Visiting SiriusXM NFL Radio today, Bowles was asked to name a backup or two that played well yesterday as a starter, or a backup type who regularly steps up and maybe doesn’t get a lot of work or credit.
Bowles went right to Feeney and said he’s done a “great job” the past few weeks.
Bowles named no other player. He added that Feeney isn’t talked about a lot (Bowles obviously isn’t on social media) and added “he’s really done a good job for us coming in.”
Josh Sweat is having one hell of a season.
11 sacks through the first 11.25 games. He’s been as advertised.
Shame they are wasting it.pic.twitter.com/CuCi4URh0D

Someone should ask him how a defensive guru turned into a defensive dunce.

I was taught a different version of the word “great” when I went to elementary school

Bowles can’t name anybody on defense because the one guy who is consistently good this year took a pay cut and won’t be here next year!

Todd can’t differentiate between chicken salad and chicken dung.

Jose Ole matador of the year. But you get what you pay for. If only his blocking was as awesome as his stash.

Every time I watch and pay attention to Feeney, he’s pretty terrible – and not just watching after he misses a block or gets ran over, but on random plays. I know a number of times the low IQ dopes out there have complained about Barton on a play where it’s clear he is double teaming someone with Feeney, who is either late to get to the block, or gets beat so bad that people think it was Barton. Sort of how Barton was doing the same thing to Cody last year, and the same idiots were complaining about Cody not being up to the job.
Anywho, Feeney isn’t good – and I’m not sure why he’s still out there after Luke Haggard seemed to show a little promise. Luke2 must be having some bad practices – and to be fair, I thought Haggard had a terrible preseason, but so did Cappa the same preseason when he first started and ended up being a decent starter. Anywho, hopefully Feeney can improve or they replace him, because he is, by far, the worst starter on the line – which is to be expected, but still, you’d like some better play, even out of backups.

I hope he can live up to this here say on Sunday.

I did note that on a number of double-teams by Feeney and Barton, Feeney did not swing his hips around and close down to Barton, allowing the DT to split the double team. While that’s partly on Barton, generally the guard is responsible for that cause the center’s still busy with the snap. I counted at least 4 times just in casual watching.
