Celebrating Dan Feeney
December 1st, 2025
Joe sometimes calls Bucs right guard Dan Feeney the most dangerous man in Tampa.
And that’s not praise.
Feeney has delivered some pass blocking that makes Joe shake like it’s 2014.
The Bucs signed Feeney, a 31-year-old veteran, off Buffalo’s practice squad this fall and he’s settled into the starting job after backup Luke Haggard got injured. Whether Haggard should be playing now over Feeney is a story for another day.
Feeney let Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat run right by him for a sack yesterday, but Feeney definitely has bright spots to his game. He’s not Charlie Heck-level scary.
In fact, Todd Bowles thinks he’s got a hell of a player in Feeney.
Visiting SiriusXM NFL Radio today, Bowles was asked to name a backup or two that played well yesterday as a starter, or a backup type who regularly steps up and maybe doesn’t get a lot of work or credit.
Bowles went right to Feeney and said he’s done a “great job” the past few weeks.
Bowles named no other player. He added that Feeney isn’t talked about a lot (Bowles obviously isn’t on social media) and added “he’s really done a good job for us coming in.”
Josh Sweat is having one hell of a season.
11 sacks through the first 11.25 games. He’s been as advertised.
Shame they are wasting it.pic.twitter.com/CuCi4URh0D

Someone should ask him how a defensive guru turned into a defensive dunce.

I was taught a different version of the word “great” when I went to elementary school

Coming from who ?
December 1st, 2025 at 4:13 pm
Bowles can’t name anybody on defense because the one guy who is consistently good this year took a pay cut and won’t be here next year!
December 1st, 2025 at 4:13 pm
Todd can’t differentiate between chicken salad and chicken dung.
December 1st, 2025 at 4:17 pm
Defense is about Points Allowed..Sack Ints pressures etc are great but Ill go with the only stat that determines the Winner .
December 1st, 2025 at 4:22 pm
Jose Ole matador of the year. But you get what you pay for. If only his blocking was as awesome as his stash.
December 1st, 2025 at 4:26 pm
Every time I watch and pay attention to Feeney, he’s pretty terrible – and not just watching after he misses a block or gets ran over, but on random plays. I know a number of times the low IQ dopes out there have complained about Barton on a play where it’s clear he is double teaming someone with Feeney, who is either late to get to the block, or gets beat so bad that people think it was Barton. Sort of how Barton was doing the same thing to Cody last year, and the same idiots were complaining about Cody not being up to the job.
Anywho, Feeney isn’t good – and I’m not sure why he’s still out there after Luke Haggard seemed to show a little promise. Luke2 must be having some bad practices – and to be fair, I thought Haggard had a terrible preseason, but so did Cappa the same preseason when he first started and ended up being a decent starter. Anywho, hopefully Feeney can improve or they replace him, because he is, by far, the worst starter on the line – which is to be expected, but still, you’d like some better play, even out of backups.
December 1st, 2025 at 4:52 pm
I hope he can live up to this here say on Sunday.
December 1st, 2025 at 5:00 pm
I did note that on a number of double-teams by Feeney and Barton, Feeney did not swing his hips around and close down to Barton, allowing the DT to split the double team. While that’s partly on Barton, generally the guard is responsible for that cause the center’s still busy with the snap. I counted at least 4 times just in casual watching.

And the moustache ain’t helping.
December 1st, 2025 at 5:07 pm
Almost got all phases going according to Todd. I still think he really should ask Winston where he got his LASIK done he might need to make an appointment.
December 1st, 2025 at 5:07 pm
Kind of funny, I have been watching Barton and Feeney this season and thinking these guys are pretty weak. Rams destroyed them last week and this week they weren’t too much better. But Todd knows better ….
December 1st, 2025 at 5:20 pm
Someone should ask Bowles why the only two backup offensive linemen who made the team coming out of camp aren’t good enough to play ahead of scrubs off the scrap pile, and why they are still on the team.
December 1st, 2025 at 5:53 pm
what’s the deal with mauch…?…is he completely done for the year or is there a shot he’s back come playoff time…?
i forget the severity of his injury…or even whatever it was
December 1st, 2025 at 6:00 pm
if you told me feeney was the long lost son of mark gastineau…
i’d be okay with that 🙂
December 1st, 2025 at 6:02 pm
The entire offensive line has under performed most of this season. Against the better teams they are not able to hold a block long enough to open a crease for the running backs and at the same time have been poor protecting the quarterback
December 1st, 2025 at 7:01 pm
Well, at least it wasn’t a loaf. He ran full speed in pursuit.
December 1st, 2025 at 7:04 pm
How did Sean Tucker only get two carries yesterday?
We rushed for a grand total of 95 yards
December 1st, 2025 at 7:23 pm
The only thing dangerous about Feeney is when he uses that Kentucky waterfall on the ladies!!!
The whole line yesterday wasn’t very good. Mayfield hardly ever got to plant his back foot and throw, most of the time it was moving so he didn’t get hit or sacked. When Mayfield had a good pocket he threw the ball really good. For sure not a good game for Feeney!
December 1st, 2025 at 7:27 pm
Tucker rushed twice because the team is not smart.

CleanHouse
Yep. Bound and determined to grind the little guy into a pulp.
Grizzard really doesn’t know what he’s doing, but at least he fits in with our DC and ST coach.

Cody Mauch – knee injury/torn meniscus.
Surgery w/ 8 weeks on crutches. Should be healed mid off season and hopefully 100% by training camp 2026.
December 1st, 2025 at 8:00 pm
Feeney is very, very bad – gets beat routinely and has almost no push in the run game.
Haggard was much better in the run game for sure and should be playing with the first group

Yeah, I’ve seen the same thing a number of times. The offense is pretty complex with blocking, and Barton really struggled with it early last year, and made Cody look pretty bad – but Feeny is a vet and been here for a while not, you’d like to think he’d pick it up faster. Hopefully, if he continues to start, he’ll improve quite a bit. Haggard meanwhile has been healthy for a couple of weeks now, maybe he works his way back into games.

From what I read right after he got injured, his early recovery window was actually the 1st week of February – so if the Bucs somehow made it to the SB, he’d, in theory, have a chance to play. But since we haven’t heard anything at all, no idea if that’s still the case or not. Wishful thinking in any case, but just throwing it out there.

If football doesn’t work out for Feeney, he’s always got the porn stache.
December 1st, 2025 at 9:03 pm
I seriously thought that Luke Haggard was going to come back from his injury and step in and start. I am blown away that Feeny is in. That’s crazy because I think Haggard is better than Mauch
December 1st, 2025 at 9:39 pm
Luke Haggard needs to start.
Off topic, I see 4-5 more wins coming.
Over these next 5 games, the defense and offense need to find their swagger. I’m not a gambling man, but I believe we’ll make it to the Superbowl this year…but winning it, I have no idea.
I know, the haters here have done their best to convince people it’s impossible. But we shall see.
Crazy the Mike Evans could start practicing already. I did not see that happening.

oh yeah torn meniscu…
it’s like having your balls ripped out from under ya…
he’s done for the year…
watch him come back next year good to go…and with a shiny new pair of front teeth…
he recently married – so believe me you, wifey is definitely planning on making this dude have a million dollar smile!

A lot of poor offensive plays in this game, passes dropped for long yardage and for TDs. Subpar run blocking by the Oline. Play calling is still suspect. If the Buccaneers had played a great game offensively, the score may have been 34-17 easily.
Go Bucs !! Beat the Slimy Saints !!

His early return window was literally today – so it’s good news if he does anything this week. I believe the type of injury means he should be pretty much ready to go if fully healed. While I don’t think he’ll actually be active on Sunday, I’d love to see it happen, and for him to go out and put up a 300 yard day – still get the record. Also to actually force the Bucs to be creative on offense and not to be so completely predictable and boring.
December 1st, 2025 at 11:10 pm
Todd counts on how Feeney blocks his defense in practice when commenting on Feeney. Seems Feeney is all pro during the week. That doesn’t hold a lot of weight in real games.
December 1st, 2025 at 11:51 pm
What’s Todd doing to correct the atrocious play of Zyon The Loaf McCollum?
December 2nd, 2025 at 12:45 am
Bowles coaching style is not throwing players under the bus publicly but doing it in private as many players have said. Most coaches who are any good don’t do that since they know they will lose the locker room. Let’s face it here, no one commenting here has ever been a coach of a high profile sports team. So anyone here predicting honest public answers from any coach is sadly deluded. Also hope fans realize that coaches and players get training and advice on what to say interviews. Occasionally some go off script like Baker but that’s only because he has job leverage.

Under dawg my thoughts exactly. How can this oline be very good last year and now they are doing terrible. Can’t be because of one guy. I get they were banged up and all out of position at the beginning of the season but we actually played better then. The biggest difference has got to be the OC. Coen had this offense humming very well last year and we have deff regressed this year which is suspected under a rookie OC but we all weee told grizz played the biggest part in 3rd down efficiency and yet we regressed there too. Someone help the man
December 2nd, 2025 at 8:28 am
Haggard is not better than Mauch. Mauch was the second or third best guard in the NFL last year. Not even close…
I thought Mauch tore his ACL? That’s great news if he didn’t!

Fire Todd
December 2nd, 2025 at 8:58 am
Cody Mauch injury was one of our more significant losses. Not just for his inline blocking, but also for his hustle in the second and third level.
No sub is near as good. Haggard’s injury must be pretty bad, but we are not the only team that wanted Dirty Dan. Even average subs are hard to find.
December 2nd, 2025 at 5:04 pm
His body type is so weird.
He has no butt.
He’s not moving anybody around.
I think guards are the KEY to a good running game.
We need to make a MAJOR upgrade at RG if we want any chance at winning a Super Bowl.
