What Would Happen If Chris Godwin And Bucky Irving Are Active Against Rams?
November 21st, 2025Hey, Joe is just like every Bucs fan out there right now.
Joe is hoping above hope, every day, that the Bucs can get Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Bucky Irving, Jalen McMillan and Calijah Kancey back.
But if they come back, they won’t be in game shape. Not right away. How many games would it take?
Getting guys on the field is one thing. Getting them in midseason form is a whole different animal.
Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard discussed this issue yesterday, specifically with Godwin and Bucky. Godwin was a full participant in practice on Thursday. Bucky was limited and it’s been reported he won’t play.
Grizzard said if Godwin or Bucky are available Sunday night in Los Angeles, no way would he try to play them full-time.
“These guys haven’t played in so long,” Grizzard said. To be able to think that they’re going to go out there and play 50 snaps or 55 snaps would be unfair to those guys.
“So, seeing how much they can handle, getting them in there on the plays where we know it’s really critical to that play – let them build their play strength to get their confidence back up, to get back to their top shape.”
The final sentence is smart. Put these guys out there on plays that highlight their skillset. Make every snap count. Don’t have them out there and put them in positions outside their comfort zone.

CH would be nice to have back just to take some coverage away from EE2.
November 21st, 2025 at 7:20 am
That was supposed to be CG not CH my bad.
November 21st, 2025 at 7:20 am
Work them in slowly. Even with a loss the Bucs control their own destiny. Need these guys for the last 6 games and beyond.

What is midseason form, battered and bruised?
Sure, they haven’t taken hits but should have fresh legs and a spring in their step. Professional athletes should always be in decent shape. Being old is another thing… Chris will never be Chris. Mike is getting hurt more often. McMillan may never come back to risk his life.
These players might or might not make a difference. In football it’s always a toss up. My question, why is Sean Tucker the 3rd string back?

Sub Godwin in and out one or two plays at a time,
The first half dozen plays for Godwin should be runs and passes to his side of the field where his role is to block. He has always blocked well, and it should let him somewhat control the contact.
Once the pattern is established, run another half dozen plays away from him.
Then, unless he is really feeling great, call it a day.

With our sieve like defense, does it really matter? I wonder if they’ll have Vita covering Puca or Davante?
November 21st, 2025 at 7:59 am
Houston sacked Allen 8 freaking times and gave up 19 points.
If we actually had a defense, you know, supposedly our Head Coach’s forte, we would be 8-2 at least.
This team is HARD to watch.
How do you screw this up?
November 21st, 2025 at 8:01 am
Ramping from 0 to 100 when these guys haven’t played basically all season is asking for an injury like a pulled hammy.
November 21st, 2025 at 8:08 am
Nothing different. Chris is a shell of himself. Bucky is a great runner, probably has a lot of rust right now and isnt the type to carry the team by himself.
November 21st, 2025 at 8:10 am
They know exactly what to do of course they do. At the end of the game we’ll still say the defense shat the bed again. Bowles needs to stop thinking of himself as some guru
November 21st, 2025 at 8:16 am
I started texans defense last night , i wasnt impressed with the bills offense vs the bucs.
November 21st, 2025 at 8:26 am
What happens? The Bucs lose and I doubt that either would survive the game let alone be productive. Jason Licht needs to stop falling in love with damaged goods. Godwin was a horrible signing and Bucky was chronically injured in college. Trash GM, Trash HC, Trash Defense and Special Teams. Bucs should have signed Liam. Huge miss by Licht. Soft GM.

What if CG13 and BI7 were back in L.A. ? One can only dream! Next man up!!
November 21st, 2025 at 9:08 am
See I told you the excuses would just keep rolling, guys are healthy but not in game shape, once they get in game shape more injuries will occur. This team is not the Buccaneers, they should rename themselves to the Excuseneers.

Wouldn’t change a thing
Still wont be a close game.
November 21st, 2025 at 9:54 am
JEFF – the fan base would have lost it had Godwin not been re-signed. I was against it, but I was in the minority.
I would also let Evans walk after this year unless he takes a one year deal equal to his remaining cap $$ (13mil)
As for Irving, he wasn’t an upper level draft pick and is on a low money rookie deal — the guy is valuable at that low investment/price.
Licht has kept this team in low-level contention and brought us back out of the cap hell that comes with winning a Super Bowl.
Aside from firing Bowles, what more do you want?
November 21st, 2025 at 10:10 am
BillyBucco, the Bills scored 19 points. 7 of those points came via a 100 yard kickoff return. Allen had 0 td passes and 0 td runs. Yes. Something is bad wrong with our defense. And it’s been getting worse.

LOL! Are you thick skulled??!! Bowles has never referred the himself or stated he is a defensive guru.
His PEERs touted that title on him. And not for no reason
November 21st, 2025 at 10:16 am
Won’t matter since they play offense. Did you see how many sacks the Texans got on Josh last night? We never even got a sniff of his jersey last Sunday
November 21st, 2025 at 10:43 am
Can either guy play outside linebacker, inside linebacker or corner?
It would be nice to have them back in some capacity, but Bucs can’t stop anybody on defense.
November 21st, 2025 at 10:49 am
Stop daydreaming, this team is never going to be healthy
With short bus Todd calling the defense for 7 years now, we know receivers will be OPEN, WIDE OPEN, don’t kid yourself he’s not changing and neither is his soft Defense
November 21st, 2025 at 10:55 am
It wouldn’t make a big enough difference. The only thing that would be a total game changer, would be if Todd entirely changes his defensive philosophy.
November 21st, 2025 at 11:34 am
We have the whiniest fans in the league. Bills have lost 4; Chiefs have lost 5; 49ers have lost 4; Ravens have lost 5; Packers have lost 3 and tied 1; Among these teams only the Chiefs have won a super bowl in the last 8 years. Their fans aren’t shouting to fire the coach.
November 21st, 2025 at 11:51 am
@Buddha
you’re absolutely correct.
alot of whining and over generalizing.
talking about isolated gaffs like its a play to play issue.
Questioning a scheme I’m sure nobody takes the time to understand.
Whilst blaming everyone/thing except the players on the field especially in real time.
You could see a player miss a tackle, blow a block and its the coaches-not players-at fault lol
Amusing to a degree, but mostly redundant and b**chy

@ Davenport Says: “JEFF – the fan base would have lost it had Godwin not been re-signed. I was against it, but I was in the minority.

I guess, I was also in that minority, and was very consistent and fair all along. I said they SHOULD throw him a bone and ‘try’ to re-sign him on a “Prove-it” type of deal… Something a lot more like, a $10-Million Guarantee, with some ‘expected’ incentives, and lots of ‘unexpected’ incentives. Such as maybe, a $500,000 per game played bonus (which is up to another potential $8.5-MIL there), then other ‘personal’ bonuses, like for 1,000 yards, receptions, and TD’s. Also, some team incentives, including for playoffs, division title, playoff wins, Super Bowl, and Super Bowl Win bonuses, that could get him up to $30-MILLION total!!!! But, as SOON as when the Patriots (supposedly) offered him THAT… Then, I immediately have an honest and real conversation with Chris, and tell him to TAKE THE MONEY. You have to. And, that’s that. End of Story. Sounds like, JL had his “OUT” there, since he KNEW 💯 that Chris would be taken care of. Since, I know it was SUCH a shame for EVERYONE, what happened to Chris, while LEADING THE LEAGUE and in the midst of an ALL-PRO Season… I mean, HE was gonna be PAID. A lot more even, than what Lickt handed him. I was totally SHOCKED that Lickt did that… Though, I probably shouldn’t had been. Just BECAUSE ‘someone’ else offered-it, didn’t mean that WE HAD TO.

I wish my job can ease me in on mondays.
Throw them in 100percenr.
They get therapy. They train. They practice. They get paid thousands. Now teams have to get them comfortable to play ?
Is this some kind of sick joke ?!
November 21st, 2025 at 12:06 pm
Maybe he has so much foresight as to which plays would be “critical” to the outcome of the game he could let the rest of us know when to watch. At anytime there could be a big catch or breakaway run no one would predict. At the end of the game hindsight won’t change the outcome. Those guys don’t play every snap anyway so even being available on 2nd or 3rd down would reduce their total count.
November 21st, 2025 at 12:17 pm
@ Buddha – This is VERY ‘typical ‘ stuff here, for EVERY ‘professional’ sports team and city! EVEN, for every major college town or state… I mean, come on man!? Think Alabama Football… Have YOU ever even HEARD The Paul Finebaum show before, when ALABAMA LOSES just ONE-GAME!? Or, Kentucky Basketball Fans!? You’re telling me that YOU ‘think’ TAMPA-Fricking-BAY is even comparable to NYC, PHILLY, BOSTON, CHICAGO, DETROIT, CLEVELAND, (or hell) DALLAS, and MANY others!? Really!? Now, come on. Great tip… Go watch “PAWL” if BAMA happens to ‘crap the bed’ and loses this upcoming game at AUBURN. See what happens the next time they lose PERIOD. It. Will. Be. SO. CLASSIC. Legendary (shout-out to “Legend”). Hahahah
November 21st, 2025 at 12:25 pm
Detroit has lost 4 as well. Fire the coach.
November 21st, 2025 at 12:33 pm
Some of the comments are crazy we win you complain we lose you complain. Fire the coach release 1000 yard recievers get rid of 1000 yard rushers blah blah blah blah blah
November 21st, 2025 at 1:01 pm
Detroit LOVES Dan Campbell. There are LOTS of fans getting tired of all the constant 4th-Down nonsense. I’ve only seen just a very few actually calling for his job, though. Dan Campbell IS DETROIT. Cannot even compare that to Todd Bowles. Detroit fans are pretty insane though, so that can change in a hurry! Especially now, since he has taken over the offensive play-calling again.
November 21st, 2025 at 11:57 pm
⁶DAMN TEXAS HAS A DEFENCE ALL RUGHT. NOW THATS A PASS RUSH ! REMEMBER WHEN WE HAD THAT ? WE GO BACKWARDS WITH THESE DRAFT PICKS ! November 22nd, 2025 at 12:48 pm
So sick of the bullcrap injuries I blame the coach
November 22nd, 2025 at 9:27 pm
Loss. Blowes is still employed as chief mumbled and unmotivator.
