Uninspiring Teddy Bridgewater
November 24th, 2025
What a rough Sunday night it was for the Kyle Trask faithful.
Baker Mayfield left the game at halftime with a messed up non-throwing shoulder and in came veteran Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback. Trask, the Bucs 2021 second-round pick, was cut this summer and sits on the Falcons practice squad.
Bridgewater, 33, the former first-round draft pick and Pro Bowl QB, hadn’t played meaningful snaps since the 2022 season with the Dolphins.
Joe was somewhat flabbergasted that Bridgewater showed little fire or excitement in his 30 minutes of work against the Rams. Joe didn’t detect leadership, and Joe was not alone.
Astute NFL analyst Chris Long, the retired Rams and Patriots defensive end, took a shot at Bridgewater on his Green Light podcast today.
“And then we got Teddy Bridgewater, who’s like a fever dream. Like, ‘What am I doing out on an NFL field, bro, trying to convert on third down?” Long said.
Long got no pushback from his co-hosts, former NFL defensive linemen Nate Collins and Beau Allen, the ex-Buccaneer.
Obviously, Bridgewater was inserted into a miserable situation. But he sure didn’t look hungry.
Hopefully, Mayfield’s ailing shoulder is nothing serious.

Trade for Trask ?
November 24th, 2025 at 6:22 pm
I think we all know what’s going to happen here with Bridgewater and Trask
November 24th, 2025 at 6:25 pm
He had NO desire to be out there and it showed. He just felt compelled because we’re paying him. Another terrible signing.
November 24th, 2025 at 6:26 pm
We can pick him off their practice squad and elevate him and cut Bridgewater who has no business on an NFL field and who had 1 highlight this year and that was a hospital ball to McMillan.
November 24th, 2025 at 6:27 pm
And yet, he had better numbers than Mayfield. Trask would have more desire and spunk but he’d be far worse!
November 24th, 2025 at 6:27 pm
Some people actually think this guy is going to get better going against the Bucs defense in practice. Oh boy. Must win game this Sunday. Imagine if Teddy is the starting QB when Jmac comes back…
November 24th, 2025 at 6:28 pm
would rather have JAMEIS
November 24th, 2025 at 6:32 pm
He looked like a UPS driver that was pulled out of the crowd to play QB.
What an absolute joke to have him backing up Mayfield.
Only the Bucs would do something this irresponsible.
It totally fits with Toad Bowels loser mentality.
Fire Bowles now!!!
November 24th, 2025 at 6:33 pm
He looks like Predator with no predatory skills left
November 24th, 2025 at 6:35 pm
Bridgewater is just there to collect a paycheck. This is almost as good as Joe admitting that Trask would be better as the backup. It’s ok , you can say you were wrong.
November 24th, 2025 at 6:38 pm
It was a circus and Bridgewater was just another one of the clowns. The ringmaster needs to be canned.
November 24th, 2025 at 6:39 pm
What was Teddy’s deal? I’ve never seen him play that bad in his whole career. He isn’t notorious for this type of horrid play.
November 24th, 2025 at 6:40 pm
Bridgewater looked like he wanted no part of the Rams pass rush. He didn’t like the smoke.
November 24th, 2025 at 6:40 pm
He looks like he’s JZ’s sister.
November 24th, 2025 at 6:41 pm
If anything, Todd is loyal to a fault, expect Teddy to get his chance to shine on Todd’s amazing season. So no I don’t think Todd and his BFF Jason can keep the Titanic mess they’ve created from hitting rock bottom.
November 24th, 2025 at 6:41 pm
Teddy is Grizzard’s guy from Miami. Fire both Bowles and Grizzard, they are way over their heads.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:09 pm
A lot of these vets will gladly accept a check but have little interest in earning it. Bridgewater sat out of football for two years, what exactly they think he brings to the table at this point is perplexing. If he had anything in the tank some team would have offered him a nice chunk of money to mentor a young QB. Fields got $20 million per year and he’s trash. Bridgewater is out there going through the motions hoping he’ll never have to see the field. I’d honestly rather have Winston as the backup, he at least comes to compete and put something on tape.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:09 pm
Teddy was more than serviceable once upon a time…but that was years ago.
He’s even said publicly that he rather be coaching his high school kids ( before he was suspended/booted for buying meals and other minor stuff ). It’s almost as if Bowles and/or Licht talked him into it. A reluctant NFL player is a player who’s gonna get hurt/destroyed.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:11 pm
When the tv-coverage cut to him while Good Ole Bake was inside the medical tent, Old Teddy looked SCARED SHEETLESS. That look on his face showed total FEAR. I thought it looked like-it anyway… But, maybe that’s just how he is!? Idk… I literally watched about EVERY single-one of his games while at Louisville, but I don’t ever remember him being like THAT, at all!? I never remember him having an ‘ultra-high’ motor and being a HUGE “rah-rah” guy, or anything like that, but I sure NEVER remember seeing him ‘look-like’ THAT before. He acted as if HE couldn’t give a care less. It’s such a shame.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:14 pm
I was a little uninspired by the Bridgewater signing to begin with by the Trask trials had the end. Bridgewater clearly didn’t want to be on the field once he saw the speed of the game. His time has passed, he may give great help in film study but the field of play has passed him by.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:16 pm
Turns out the backup QB needs to be able to play.
WHAT A JOKE
November 24th, 2025 at 7:17 pm
BOWLES EFFED THE MOB SPITEFULLY AND NOW EVERYONE HAS TO PAY THE PRICE
November 24th, 2025 at 7:18 pm
It really did seem-like the had to talk him to it… I thought the exact same. And, I have no idea for WHY!} Makes no sense whatsoever. Just such a JOKE.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:25 pm
3rd and 2 and Bum Bridgewater literally throws a 1 yard pass. He’s awful, has no business being in the NFL.
Trask is on the Falcons practice squad, Bucs can sign him any time they want – and they should want to do so right this very second. Ballsack is our PS QB and he is not an NFL talent, but he can throw for more than 6 yards (not accurately, just further than) so that right there gives him a step up on Teddy.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:36 pm
OK…I’m looking at this just a bit differently….
Following Mayfield and trying to match enthusiasm is not an easy task.
The game situation meant the Rams defense could tee off on every snap.
As far as the 1 yard pass……we had been doing that all game long, so I don’t fault him for that.
Let’s see how he is after a week with #1 reps and starting vs Ariz…
Let’s hope we don’t get to see that.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:52 pm
” I shouldn’t have taken that edible before the game.”
November 24th, 2025 at 7:55 pm
Go get Jameis. At least he would give an inspiring pregame speech.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:56 pm
The guy has won more games than he’s lost as a starter in the league. I think players will help him and he’s still able to hand it off and protect the ball. Hopefully not need to pass too much. Where I noticed he will have a little trouble is he’s slowed down more than just a little. Doesn’t have the legs he used to have. His arm is still serviceable, his legs not so much.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:56 pm
I read thet Teddy did not even travel with the team and that he got into LA late on Saturday night due to attending a funeral in South Florida. This probably was not a good idea but does kind of explain like it looked like Bowles and Grizzard just went into the stands a grabbed someone to come on down to the field and try to play QB. He looked like he is washed up. Baker will play even if he is 25%, that is how it is. Will this be detrimental? We shall see.
November 24th, 2025 at 7:58 pm
can you all imagine Jameis coming in with this second team offense and lighting it TF UP…? I can…..
November 24th, 2025 at 8:07 pm
There has got to be better options than Bridgewater
November 24th, 2025 at 8:17 pm
Yup like anything about this team was inspiring you could close your eyes and point and hit something that look like trash it all looked bad not going to point at a backup that looked like the entire team played and say well that was the problem all of it is a problem.
November 24th, 2025 at 8:28 pm
Not to mention knocking out J McMillan….what a weird season.
November 24th, 2025 at 8:38 pm
Another excuse the Glazers can use
Not Bowles fault injuries did it
Bowles is NOT A GOOD HC PERIOD NO EXCUSES
HIRE A HEAD COACH
November 24th, 2025 at 8:38 pm
Get ready for some hospital balls if Teddy starts.
November 24th, 2025 at 8:52 pm
Turns out Brady and Spytek were the driving force behind GM improvement and Lichts reverted back to the poor judgment he showed b4 almost getting canned??
November 24th, 2025 at 8:57 pm
Well on my six pack of player props, got for 4 of 6, thanks to Baker.
Stafford passing yards – OVER
Puka yards receiving – OVER
Adams 0.5 TDs – OVER
McCaffrey 3.5 receptions – OVER
Then the L’s…
Baker passing yards – OVER (L)
Godwin receiving yards – OVER (L)
If Baker doesn’t throw behind Godwin on that pass before half-time, I get 5/6 and then injury protection on Baker.
Anywho, lesson is, if any one of the defensive backs are hurt – it means Bowles goes to his cupcake super soft zone, so take the over on passing yards by the opponent. However, if everyone is healthy – just sit it out – because if Bowles doesn’t turtle it, and actually calls an aggressive game – which he only does if all the defensive backs are healthy – the Bucs defense can look competent.
November 24th, 2025 at 9:00 pm
I ‘m not enthused over Bridgewater. I thought the Bucs should have taken Brissett when he was available. We shall see. But Bowles has confidence in him, though.
November 24th, 2025 at 9:04 pm
It’s sad that us fans can see the stupidity and yet the people in the building cannot. Fire Bowles!
November 24th, 2025 at 9:05 pm
Panthers Defense way better than the Bucs. 3 take aways before halftime against the 49ers

Panthers defense is pretty good – but those turnovers are all on Purdy. He’s had time, not pressured, just making terrible throws.
November 24th, 2025 at 9:19 pm
Look at the shirt he’s wearing under his uniform. Does that look like a QB ready to take snaps in a football game?
November 24th, 2025 at 9:20 pm
Dude floating rainbows…smdh.
Licht sucks again!!!!
November 24th, 2025 at 9:21 pm
Hospital ball Teddy! I am kidding but I think he will be fine. He’s a good QB. Will the protection hold up?
November 24th, 2025 at 9:37 pm
49ers 10-3 at the half. Purdy 3 picks in the 1st half. He’s seeing ghosts for sure. Hope Shanahan has the cajones to put Mac Jones in or I have a bad feeling going into the second half. 49ers defense playing lights out but can they sustain it?
November 24th, 2025 at 9:40 pm
I don’t think Purdy is seeing any ghosts, he’s standing there completely untouched and unpressured and just making terrible passes. If I’m the 49ers, I’m running and if/when I throw, just doing screens and short passes – considering putting Jones in if Purdy still is missing guys. Should be a blow-out right now, and Purdy is the only reason it’s a 7-point game, and not a Rams-Bucs style beatdown.
November 24th, 2025 at 9:47 pm
Rod is right, Purdy is keeping the Panthers in this game, else it would be 24-3 at the half. Bryce Young is simply not playing well either. Niners win and then the Panthers get the Rams, early line is Rams -10. Being a ucs fan I know this is better over-reaction, putting coin on a team that just trounced Bowles and his D but does anyone think Carolina will not get beatten by the Rams, granted their D will not be exposed as bad as Bowles but can Carolina score more than 10 with Bryce Young???? Bucs may back into the division but don’t look now, the ATL beat the Jets and suddenly they are not that far behind Tampa and Carolina and we know Bowles will lose to the ATL on prime time.
November 24th, 2025 at 9:51 pm
Please sit Godwin all game if Teddy starts….PLEASE!
November 24th, 2025 at 9:54 pm
SO TEDDY WAS PICKED BY BULLS OVER TRASK. EVEN THOUGH HE DOES NOT KNOW THE RECEIVERS HAS NOT WORKED.THE SYSTEM AND HAS JUST COME OVER BECAUSE HE CAN’T COACH’S KIDS.ANYMORE WHICH HE WOULD RATHER DO THAN BE ON AN NFL FIELD.GREAT DECISION BOWLES ! TRASK, WHO HAS BEEN WITH THE TEAM WHO KNOWS THE RECEIVERS, WHO KNOWS THE SYSTEM.
GETS PUSHED ASIDE FOR THIS GUY ? BOWLES WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR BRAIN?

“Trade for Trask ?”
He’s on the Atlanta Practice Squad. We would not have to trade for him.
November 24th, 2025 at 10:00 pm
What’s sad to me is Mayfield was healthy the whole time Trask was here. The kid waited and waited.
Bowles wanted to give Teddy another shot (and it was all Bowles), cut Trask…and Mayfield gets hurt.
🏈 We could have finally seen Trask play
🏈 Trask was lucky for Mayfield
November 24th, 2025 at 10:01 pm
Young will put up 500 yards and 5 TDs vs the wide open Swiss cheese defense of Bowles.
They unlike the Rams will not take their foot off the gas.
Especially if Bilgewater is our QB.
It will be another embarrassment to add to our collection.
Fire Bowles now!!!
November 24th, 2025 at 10:29 pm
Umm, there was no winning that game. Bridgewater’s job wasn’t to lead an impossible comeback, but to get to the 60 minute mark with no further injuries.
November 24th, 2025 at 10:35 pm
FortMyersDave – Honestly the Panthers beating the Rams seems like something that will likely happen. Yeah, it makes no sense, but the Dolphins blowing out the Bills also made no sense. The Rams tend to play best vs good teams – and assuming the Panthers lose this game tonight by double digits, then they could be that overlooked team. Unlikely – I wouldn’t put money on it, but it wouldn’t surprize me.
Bucs need Baker out there and to get a win. A lot of the angst going on right now will disappear if the Bucs are 7-5 and guys are looking better.
If the team is 6-6 and technically in first place only because Carolina has played one more game, well, that’s a terrible place to be. Bucs need this win, and people thinking the Bucs win by just showing up, well that’s how you end up 6-6.
November 24th, 2025 at 10:37 pm
*I didn’t mean likely to happen, I meant something that could happen, I wouldn’t discount it.
Rams, coming off an easy W, getting fat on Thanksgiving, I can see them laying an egg and keeping it close. But again, not so confident in that prediction that I’d put money on it.

Whoopie Goldberg sucks.
November 24th, 2025 at 11:02 pm
Yea panthers offense is pretty bad. I don’t know what is worse though the panthers offense or Bucs defense. Either way with how crappy this division is if we don’t win the division then Bowles needs to be fired at the end of the season. Even with the injuries this team has more talent than any other team in the NFC South.
November 24th, 2025 at 11:07 pm
Stop this nonsense that the Buccaneers are a bad team that can only beat other bad teams. We beat Texas on a Monday night, a team that is very hot now and likely will be in the playoffs. We beat Seattle, a team that still has a good chance to be a one seed We beat the 49ers who have 8 wins and is a top franchise with a terrific coach. Yes, we have holes but that is why there are no great teams this year. Only the Rams have fewer than 3 losses and there are still 7 games to go. Quit whining and root for your team.

November 24th, 2025 at 11:10 pm
Putrid NFC South will be won by a sub 500 team.
By walking a$$ backwards into luck we are currently in the lead.
But give Toilet Bowles some time with his stellar defense.
I trust he will do enough to fritter away the season.
No consequences equals no responsibility.
November 24th, 2025 at 11:10 pm
49ers do us a big favor tonight and beat the Panthers. IMO, Bryce Young is still way too erratic to take seriously, but on the other hand, until the Bucs can get a good edge rusher and an offensive coordinator that can call plays better even an erratic QB can overtake us. It is now a 6 game sprint to the finish and who knows what will happen.
November 24th, 2025 at 11:10 pm
Well he won’t usually have to come into a game where the O-line is useless in pass blocking and down three scores before half when he had zero reps with the starters the entirety of his tenure here, and everyone in America already knew the game wasn’t going to turn, including him.
November 24th, 2025 at 11:16 pm
bucs are gonna have to lose a lot down the stretch to give the division up to this somewhat lousy panthers team…
the panthers are just not that good…
and their schedule is waaay harder than ours…
i can’t see them getting 10 wins…maybe 8 or 9 tho…
assuming we get our act together, the only gimme game they have is the saints…then 2 vs the bucs…and the rams and seattle
November 24th, 2025 at 11:28 pm
The Panthers are not bad – they have a good defense and their offense can, at times, actually be decent, in particular if they just stick to the run. But they, like the Bucs, are on a west coast trip playing in prime time, and they’re not a team ready for prime time yet. But anyone overlooking them, you shouldn’t. I think the Bucs go 5-1 down the stretch, assuming Baker is back, and that L is one of the Panther games.
November 24th, 2025 at 11:44 pm
Trask is not on the Falcons practice squad ! I saw the dude stocking cans of baked beans at Walmart last night !
November 24th, 2025 at 11:47 pm
This is where Bucs fans are ignorant. Time to get over it I can assure you these buccaneers players are loving their best lives and are not concerned about that lost and none of you can remember Bridgwaters last start. I’m not sure what you expected when the guy goes in cold against one of the best teams and his OC is trash
November 25th, 2025 at 12:01 am
JOES!!!!
LEE!!!******
Teddy couldn’t even call his first plays!! Shaking his head trying to relay the calls! He had a long sleeve shirt and gloves in California like he was getting off a nursery home couch. He had no idea what to do but not break another teammates neck! Good lord. JV Football. Heck it galls me to say this but…I take Jameis or Johnny football as Bakes Backup right now.
November 25th, 2025 at 12:01 am
yep rod…we’re gonna pick up speed against the scrubs…
5-1 or 4-2 down the stretch…
with a split of the carolina games…
but we will still kind of secretly suck, even if we are rolling into the playoffs with our chest’s puffed out

November 25th, 2025 at 2:17 am
Funny to watch this whole plan implode. Should’ve kept Trask, spent no extra money and had him take a shot at it. We are not going anywhere near the Super Bowl, so who cares. Mayfield will be pushed back in, play hurt, give a subpar performance and her comes Teddy lol. At this point, any of us could make better front office calls. Bowles, Griz and Teddy need to go.
November 25th, 2025 at 4:27 am
I first thought Teddy was brought on to help guide another new and young QB after Trask was let go. But that didn’t happen. Teddy is a nice guy but can’t get us out of this. I hope I am wrong, but if last Sunday is any indication, it’s a no.
And a no to Trask. Please, a hard no. If the plan was to let go of Trask, we should have taken Mac Jones when he was available instead of Teddy. He did a heck of job when Purdy was out. We need fire in a QB. If Baker gets re-injured worse, we have nothing.
November 25th, 2025 at 4:49 am
Get the third string guy ready. Dready Toiletwater won’t last a whole game.
November 25th, 2025 at 8:12 am
Cut Bridgeovertroublrdwaters and sign Trask, Rypian, or Zappe off a practice squad. Teddy looked rasta man stoned.
November 25th, 2025 at 9:09 am
If I were still a DB , I’d be drooling about Teddy throwing a slow ball out to the flats!! Teddy going to throw pick 6 after pick 6 if put back in
November 25th, 2025 at 9:28 am
I mentioned in a previous post: I was sick of the announcers talking about the Rams’ “late developing D-Line stunts” creating backfield Havoc. It was no different for Bridgewater. The coaches needed a line adjustment — maybe Vita Vea in the offensive backfield pancaking someone!
November 25th, 2025 at 4:22 pm
Wow Guys, Can you believe it? The Ariozna Cardinals actually have a good shot at beating us? If Teddy is not ready, we are in deep Kimchee.
November 25th, 2025 at 6:57 pm
According to a doctor that appears every week on a popular Sirius XM radio show, he fully believes that Baker will play this week.
Baker has the same injury as Joe Flacco except Flacco’s was to his throwing shoulder and Flacco has shot up and kept on playing. Baker’s is to the non-throwing shoulder. That, and Baker’s history of playing through injuries makes the doctor think Baker is a go for Sunday.
He went on to add that he thinks Baker was pulled from the last game, not because he couldn’t go back in with a shot, but because the Bucs were so far behind and the Bucs didn’t know the extent of the injury. That it made sense to pull him out of a no-win situation for precautionary reasons.
November 25th, 2025 at 7:28 pm
Rod Munch says: “You just need to make it in and get hot at the right time.”
Amen. One of the few voices of reason on this thread. Just keep your head above water and win whatever few games it takes to get in. The Panthers loss puts them behind the 8-ball when it comes to conference tiebreakers, especially considering the fact that they have yet to play Seattle or the Rams.
There is still a solid hope that Godwin improves each week, McMillan recovers, Evans returns as well as maybe even Kancy. Although he doesn’t have the sack numbers everybody was hoping for, even Reddick will help the cause on the other side of the ball along with Dean coming back.
If all or almost all of those players return and the Bucs stay relatively healthy, it will be darned close to the team we were all hoping to see this whole season but never have. That may very well make the Bucs a far more formidable team come playoff time than all these doom and gloomers think they are.
And besides, why in the world do all you haters think you are entitled to a Superbowl team every year?
November 25th, 2025 at 7:45 pm
The absolute best record I see the Panthers finishing the season with is 9-8. They should lose to both the Rams and the Seahawks, meaning they would have to win the other three games on their schedule just to make it to nine wins.
They have already lost to New Orleans once this season, so even that game is not a guaranteed win for them. The other two are against the Bucs.
Two games behind the Bucs, the Falcons still have to play the Rams and the Seahawks, as well, so I’m thinking the best they can finish is 8-9.
November 25th, 2025 at 11:07 pm
there is no bridge the waters get trask back if he even wants to knows the system strong arm wff was anyone even thinking
November 26th, 2025 at 1:03 am
Teddy sucks, and his high pass over the middle is the reason we don’t have McMillan. Signing this dude and cutting Trask was one of the stupidest things I’ve seen this front office do…right up there with not finding a better pass rusher during the trade deadline. If Trask had gone out there and played that half, he would have had fire in his play trying to show that he belongs on the field and can win games. We would have seen if the guy that tore up SEC defenses could do the same in the NFL, or if he would just show to be a decent backup QB. I’ve always been in the former basket, but knew there was only one way to tell.
Quite frankly, if Trask is still on the practice squad of the Falcons, Licht would be stupid to not claim and sign him to the active roster, since we would be even more royally screwed if Teddy gets hurt. But I’m not going to hold out hope for this front office. Hopefully, Baker will only miss one game, or has a miracle recovery and starts this week.
