Tristan Wirfs’ Legs Are Like “Redwoods”
November 20th, 2025NFL Films had some Bills players mic’ed up and a native of Iowa was glazing another guy from Iowa who just happened to be wearing a different color jersey Sunday in Buffalo.
Bills tackle Spencer Brown was born, raised and went to college in Iowa, Northern Iowa to be exact. So he knows something about Bucs left tackle Tristan Wirfs.
The proud Hawkeye had one of his best games for the Bucs this year on Sunday in Buffalo. Certainly his best since the win at Seattle. His road grading for Sean Tucker on his 46-yard touchdown run was just beautiful.
Brown could be heard in the clip (see below) calling Wirfs the best “thoroughbred” to come out of the state of Iowa. And that the Bucs were smart to run behind Wirfs because his legs “are as big as redwoods.”
Wirfs, speaking to the local pen and mic club yesterday, was humbled to be referred to as a redwood tree. But he almost seemed embarrassed by Brown glossing him.
“I mean, [Spencer Brown] is a thoroughbred from Iowa too,” Wirfs said. “He’s 6’8,” he runs like a deer, I don’t know what he’s talking about.
“I appreciate the kind words. The redwood comment, that was funny. He’s a freak too; he’s a tall drink of water, but yeah, it was funny.”
So in short, real recognizes real.
