Todd Bowles Discusses Ending The Three-Game Losing Streak

November 30th, 2025

Losing streak snapped.

Joe isn’t too over the top typing the following.

The Bucs’ four-down stop to seal the 20-17 win over the Cardinals today quite possibly saved the season.

Had the Cardinals come from behind and won, the Bucs right now would be in second place in the NFC South. The way the Bucs are playing and the Stinking Panthers are playing after beating the Rams, Joe doesn’t know how the Bucs would have rallied to regain control of the division.

After the game, Bucs coach Todd Bowles discussed ending the three-game losing streak.

“It’s finally good to get on the [winning] side of the ball after a couple of weeks,” Bowles said. “It’s tough to win in this league.

“It was a gutsy, grind-out win, so I’m glad we came out on the other end.”

The Cardinals’ final drive ended on their 17 yard line after four plays got them just eight yards. That was great, but the Bucs were just a couple of late throws from a potential nightmare they’ve seen before.

Yes. Grinding out a last minute 3 point win at home against a team playing for nothing but draft position is nothing to celebrate.

  2. SB~LV Says:

    Oh please!🙄

  3. SC Bucs Fan Says:

I appreciate loyalty but 2 coaches need to go, the special teams and (cough) defensive coordinator

  4. Scott Says:

The Bucs looked like the better team today but it was close. The Cards are not a bad team. Especially with Brisett who missed a couple of throws. Baker didn’t miss today. It was a good win and great kicking game. Godwin and Bucky made a big difference for the offense. The defense and D line played good.

  5. Marky mark Says:

How’re Beck did Godwin drop a td.

  6. johnnythemoon Says:

The Bucs are 3 and 5 vs teams that have winning records and 4-0 vs those who do not. If that trend continues we should be 11-6 or 10-7 exactly where 80pct of everyone said we would be

  7. johnnythemoon Says:

Defense gave up 17pts today and the Offense would of scored 30 if WRS do not drop the ball and we do not have dumb penalties

  8. Bartow Buc Says:

The stinkin Panthers lost to the lowly 49ers last week. Our Bucs manhandled the 49ers !! With CG 14 back and the BI 7 – RW 1 tandem back in action, I’m confident after next week, we will be sitting at 8-5 when we square up with the falcons on 12/14, then 9-5 when we play the panthers on 12/21, then the panthers have to play the old Seahags at home before we end up the regular season with Panthers !!
Anyway, a win is a win in n the NFL, Im sticking with my prediction of our Buccaneers running the table and sitting at 12-5 at the end of the season!!
One game at a time !!
Go Bucs !! Beat the Saints !!

  9. Durango 95 Says:

I bet Todd Bowles would enjoy an extended period of time off and I really think he’s earned it.

  10. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

“It’s tough to win in this league.” Hey Todd, it’s equally as “tough” to lose. Do the math dude!!

  11. Chris Says:

It’s real hard to win when you’re stupid. Tampa should’ve never let Canales walk or Coen
. Carolina has a team and with the way our d plans

it’s gonna be interesting however it turns out I’ll always be a Bucs fan
I believe Licht made the biggest mistake of his career tying himself to Bowles like he has
Canales and Coen ain’t coming back!

  12. SB~LV Says:

    This is getting old

  13. Deeboooo Says:

Do you expect every guy to get a promotion to fail or something? I’m stoked to see Canales and Coen building their own teams. I for one, did not want to take the Koetter gamble again.

Who knows how it would have worked out now, you can’t say their success at their current jobs would have translated to any other team, including ours.

    Move on

  14. MikeBuc Says:

I am not reading anything much into our winning or the Panther’s. Rams had three turnovers. That doesn’t make the Panther’s now world beaters.

  15. #1bucsfan Says:

Good comment deebooooo. After a win this fans which they really arnt fans crying about their team oh we shouldn’t have let this guy go or that one. Yea cause you can predict they would have done better ? Sorry you can’t. You’re a commentator for a reason and not in the nfl on any scale. Y’all need to go find another team to root for I mean cry for. SOFT

  16. LVMYBUCS Says:

Don’t see this team doing anything in the playoffs if they make it. They just don’t look good anymore.

  17. Guinness8 Says:

I really thought they were going to lose that game when they gave them 2 minutes. They are a bad defense. They don’t play defense. They hope for the other team too screw up.
What has happened to McCollum? He has lost all confidence. He is nowhere near defending any pass. And no one wraps up on tackles. They just slam into him and hope they go down.

  18. dbbuc711 Says:

Off-topic. I just watched Simeon Rice’s ring 9f honor induction and damn the mam looked In great shape like he could suit up and go out in the second half.

  19. Aqualung Says:

Durango – my comments have been getting the penalty box treatment for weeks now but if this one makes it, I agree 10000 % with you.

  20. FortMyersDave Says:

The Glazers should gives Bowles an ultimatum. He has to win the division and at least one playoff win. If he fails to do this he should be summarily launched. They could make Todd give up play calling as DC but I bet he would refuse.

  21. Aqualung Says:

Durango – cow milk is usually better than cat milk.

  22. Aqualung Says:

And, while Tood discusses ending a 3 game Loser streak, he’s getting ready for the next one, a 5 game losing streak to close the season. With that discipline, creativity, and attention to detail, we know you can do it!

  23. Bartow Buc Says:

Were all of yall saying the same things in 2020 ? Even with the goat at quarterback??
Oh yeah I bet you were !!
My Buccaneers are going to run the table !!

Go Bucs !! Beat the Saints!!

  24. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Fort Myers

The Glazers DO have a precedent on that very situation

  25. Dan the Bucs Fan Says:

I see lots of hateful messages about Todd Bowles but let me say this to our fanbase of casuals.

Todd Bowles took a team with almost 60 million in dead cap space meaning about 1/3 of his roster was bring paid to be retired.

He was in the worst position in a nfl head coach had ever been in thst is fact.

We were projected to finish dead last and faced a 5-10 year rebuild.

He begged JL to go sign a Qb of scrap yard named Baker Mayfiejd!

He took that team projected to be dead last in nfl to second round of playoffs! No rebuild no years if turnover he did arguably the best coaching job in nfl history that season.

Put some respect on his name

  26. Aqualung Says:

Boelwszo is an uninspiring over deployed over promoted coordinator who hovers around a .500 record, somewhat because he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the league and refuses to hire (and mentor) a DC. He does both and therefore never gives himself or the team a chance to benefit from any HC skill he might possess. All we know is, as a “both” dude, he sucks at both. Carry on. This is negative. Don’t let it post. Others will carry on the obvious even if Pom Pom candies don’t like the truth.

  27. orlbucfan Says:

Glazer Boyz should just stay out of it. That said, Grizzard has got to WAKE UP! Two things have crippled Tampa Bay this season: a boatload of injuries end dealing with another OC. The injuries are slowly becoming a non-factor, but the new OC? Jury is out on that one.

  28. StormyInFl Says:

“He took that team projected to be dead last in nfl to second round of playoffs! No rebuild no years if turnover he did arguably the best coaching job in nfl history that season.

Put some respect on his name”

He’s getting all the respect he deserves. A middling head coach who,by the grace of God, leads a team playing in a division where the other teams are run by buffoons.

His one lone playoff win was against an Eagles team that had quit.

His defense is complete garbage. People keep talking about today’s highlights (17 points, some takeaways, some sacks) but conveniently leave out the fact that Az marched down the field at will 90% of the time, and the “stops” seemed less like a defensive win vs more of an offensive mistake. Jacoby Brissett looked like Tom Brady against this defense. Then again, journeymen backups having career days is a Todd Bowles defense special. Would anyone be shocked if Cousins looks 10 years younger when he faces the Bucs in two weeks?

  29. Defense Rules Says:

Guinness8 … ‘What has happened to McCollum? He has lost all confidence. He is nowhere near defending any pass. And no one wraps up on tackles. They just slam into him and hope they go down.’

That’s a very apt description of what’s going on in our defense. Particularly like what you said about McCollum … ‘He is nowhere near defending any pass’. I was at today’s game with nice seats in the lower-level 30-yard line. On that first Cardinals’ drive, McCollum was no where near the receiver he was supposed to be covering (on 3 passes). Yes he made the tackles AFTER the receptions, but the Cardinals marched all the way down the field and should’ve scored. That INT right next to our goal line probably saved the game for us in the final analysis (saved 7 pts).

Don’t know if this is an apt description, but everyone on our defense seems to be playing very conservatively. Brissett is a backup QB, yet we let him complete 29 of 40 passes (72.5%) for 301 passing yds & 2 TDs against 1 INT. Cardinals amassed a total of 389 yds (to our 279 total yds). We beat them because of their 2 turnovers (even though our offense punted after both turnovers).

What I saw from our offense AND defense looked very ‘convoluted’. Very few really big plays on our part, or on theirs (thankfully). Bucs had the ball for 10 drives: we punted 5 times, scored 2 TDs & 2 FGs, and ended the game with the ball on the last drive. There’s no rhythm to anything we’re doing.

It’s great to have a win, and it’s great to get several quality players like Bredeson, Reddick, Godwin back. But Todd needs to find a way to get this team to ‘gel’ as a team instead of as a gang of 11 individuals out there.

  30. Aqualung Says:

    Sens is green

  31. Aqualung Says:

DR – any gelling Todd was going to do would’ve happened by now. This is what happens when he is stretched thin and has two coordinators who aren’t up to their jobs.

    Thank you AQ.

You have been conspicuous by your absence, sir. . Glad to see you at least managed to sneak one past the goalie tonight.

With CTB I suppose it’s now become a cumulative effect. Many loyal fans are Just super tired of seeing the same things over and over again. Who can blame them? At least they are here. The alternative is indifference. Better to hear complaining than the sound of rolling tumbleweed.

  34. Defense Rules Says:

Aqualung … ‘This is what happens when he is stretched thin and has two coordinators who aren’t up to their jobs.’

Actually THREE coordinators who aren’t up to their jobs. I remember well what happened to Tony Dungy after the 2001 season and to Jon Gruden after the 2008 season. Both had stagnated in the Glazers eyes and were replaced. The same is about to happen when this season ends. This team doesn’t have what it takes to compete with the big boys, and is not improving but rather going backwards.

  35. Becky Says:

Watching last night’s game was like watching 2 different games in one game. In one game, we were getting pressure on Jacoby Brissett, and we could see a glimpse of what this team could actually be with a consistent pass rush. In the other game we got no pressure on Jacoby Brissett and he picked us apart like every team does. Tackling was still pathetic and special teams were still bad, meaning Todd has again made no adjustments, and has again not incentivized his players to play to their potential every play that they are in the game. In other words, they don’t look too bad when they actually play hard and up to their ability, but killer instinct is only temporary with too many players on this team, and Todd instills nothing remotely uplifting in anybody.

  36. BucU Says:

“”Don’t see this team doing anything in the playoffs if they make it. They just don’t look good anymore.””

That sums it up. I also see many posts declaring we’ll be one and out in the playoffs. That’s an assumption I’m not buying into. This team could very easily miss the playoffs. I wouldn’t bet a wooden nickel that we beat Carolina twice.
Right now I’m not convinced we could beat them once. Then sprinkle in how bad Bowles defense is against Kirk Cousins and we have plenty of obstacles in the way of another Division title.

  37. heyjude Says:

BucU – I am not buying in to Kirk Cousins so much. It’s all we will hear about before that game and anything can happen.

Still hoping for us to be in the playoffs. Todd knows everything is on the table now.

  38. jcscycles Says:

We beat a team that has had 7 losses of 4 points or less. Switch just three of those and they are 6-6. Like the Panthers.

Jacoby Brisset had only three interceptions before yesterday, Yet, we picked him off.

Poor defensive coaching? Or too many injuries? Yesterday Todd blasted and challenged the Defense before they went out for the Cards last drive. And they rose up and stopped the Cards on downs. He coached them hard when they needed it.

Maybe the defense isn’t that bad, after all. Nor is Bowles that bad, after all. If we get back Kancey, it will be a big help to the pass rush.

  39. Stpetematt Says:

For the 99th time we have Mike Evans, McMillan, and Kancey coming back and SOON. Add them to this base with Godwin looking quite good this past week and we can do a LOT of damage in the playoffs. We will have an even better offense than last year’s juggernaut when you include Egbuka. So many weapons.

We should have someone open on almost every play.

Bowles is a fine coach. We could use one more heavily defensive draft which will make us a ton stronger, but we can win with the team that is coming back from injury. DR don’t back these fools that want us to get rid of Bowles and head into a 10 year spiral while we try to get personnel for another coach. Another lost decade.

  40. Aqualung Says:

Bowles is a fine coach?! Bwaaahaaahahahaa. Maybe when he coaches chess at the local YMCA.

DR, you are spot on, my math error was not counting the DC component where Todd reports to himself.

McCollum gets “bored?” Devin White used to get “bored” too. Obviously they’re not the only ones. Maybe if they could play defense fast without thinking so much they’d have more fun. We’ve seen examples of it this season, even yesterday as someone pointed out. Since Todd reports to himself, the fox guards the henhouse. Jason needs to intervene and remind Todd about Bucs history. Gruden was fired one year after signing a big extension. Jason and the Glazers will not sit idly by while a talented roster of good young players is wasted.

  41. Defense Rules Says:

jcscycles … ‘Yesterday Todd blasted and challenged the Defense before they went out for the Cards last drive. And they rose up and stopped the Cards on downs. He coached them hard when they needed it.’

OK, so they ‘rose up’ when he coached them hard. Doesn’t that tell anyone anything? Like MAYBE they need to be coached hard … period.

In any case, talent is still an issue IMO. There are not 11 starter-quality Bucs on this defense. And opposing OCs have figured out who they are, and pick on them mercilessly. Who can blame them? They’re just doing what it takes to win.

  42. Defense Rules Says:

StPeteMatt … ‘DR don’t back these fools that want us to get rid of Bowles and head into a 10 year spiral while we try to get personnel for another coach. Another lost decade.’

I was one of Todd Bowles most dedicated backers when he got selected for HC. But I also let it be known from Day 1 that I’m very much opposed to dual-hatting HCs as a coordinator (defense or offense). It’s simple math: You can’t serve TWO masters. You’ll eventually favor one over the other, and it’ll impact your decision-making.

THAT is what’s happening with Todd Bowles this year. Our defense slid from a #7 ranked defense in 2023 surrendering 325 pts (19.1 PPG average) to a #16 ranked defense in 2024 giving up 385 pts (22.6 PPG average). And now this year we’re currently ranked #23 giving up 301 pts in 12 games. That projects out to surrendering 425 pts in 17 games (25.1 PPG average).

Those are the only stats that really matter, because those are the points that determine winners & losers. Going from letting your opponents score 325 in 2023, to 385 in 2024, to (possibly) 425 in 2025 shows a pretty clear trend. And it’s NOT a good trend. It’s a coaching problem AND it’s a personnel problem. Two separate fixes, but if you ignore either one of them, you haven’t solved the problem.

On the defensive side, I think it’s the whole coaching staff that’s not getting the job done. IF the Glazers buy into that and offer to let Todd stay on as HC but that he has to relinquish the DC duties, I suspect he’d turn that down and retire. He’s a defensive coach first and foremost.

  43. Jmarkbuc Says:

DR, yep. Dungy is the precedent. And his defense was best in the world.

    ±++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I agree. You have to tailor the coaching style to what you have. I’d like to see more pressure on the QB.

And you get that by rusing hard and sprinkling in blitzes. Just not on every play.

If Kancey comes back I think that will lift the line play up. That way Vita won’t be double teamed and DIaby will have more room to attack. As well as the two Elijahs.

  45. Aqualung Says:
