Todd Bowles: Bucky Irving Needs To Get Hit
November 12th, 2025So the Bucs had a walk-through practice today and running back Bucky Irving was participating.
Irving has missed the past five games with shoulder and ankle issues and Todd Bowles said last week Irving’s primary challenge is the bad shoulder and its ability to withstand punishment.
Today, Bowles said Irving will practice all week but the Bucs will not practice in pads. So, in theory, Irving won’t be able to take those hits to test his injury. And Bowles added taking contact is a requirement for Irving to be ready to play.
“He’s going to have to hit at some point, yeah,” Bowles said. “I mean, he’s lifting and everything and he’s running. But it’s a progression and we’ll see how he does.”
Joe’s not sure how the Bucs will handle Irving. A layman like Joe would say if Irving is going to get hit in practice to test the shoulder, that “hit” might as well come Sunday in Buffalo.

I hope what I heard was wrong about Bucky but we will see
November 12th, 2025 at 12:55 pm
I agree
November 12th, 2025 at 12:57 pm
What was heard about Bucky? A shoulder dislocation takes approximately six weeks to heal… it’ll be six weeks. A rotator cuff or labrum tear requires surgery but for the RB position, honestly not a huge factor other than pass blocking.
November 12th, 2025 at 12:59 pm
I see another Evans situation, Todd Blows plays him in Buffalo on a bad surface and he hurts himself further
The vibe of the team coming off a bye was BAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDD, they had little energy or want to on Sunday. Not sure if it’s the injuries and knowing you are shorthanded but they didn’t look with it at all on Sunday. That’s on the coaches
November 12th, 2025 at 1:05 pm
the offense needs a spark.
November 12th, 2025 at 1:07 pm
I think DS is talking about something else than a physical injury. I heard something else too from an inside contact. It could be a bad thing or it could be absolutely nothing.
November 12th, 2025 at 1:09 pm
Also, I’m not going to say anything about it other than what I said. It’s none of my business and I want to respect people’s privacy.
November 12th, 2025 at 1:11 pm
DS and LawrenceDawsey like an issue of too much partying or something?
November 12th, 2025 at 1:13 pm
sit him!!!!
Grizz wont run the ball anyway!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
November 12th, 2025 at 1:14 pm
Yea, these injuries have a pretty high chance of recurrence and that re-injury could lead to making this injury worse, especially for an RB who takes the brunt of the contact head on or from either flank.
We’ll see how this goes, maybe Grizzard doesn’t feel a need to toss Bucky into the fire like he did to start the season.
November 12th, 2025 at 1:23 pm
Praying he is ok the the end of the day
November 12th, 2025 at 1:29 pm
Joe, I totally agree. I would rather him be in the game and take a hit than wait until the Bucs hit in practice, which seems rare nowadays.
November 12th, 2025 at 1:32 pm
Laughable reading all the speculation over what some random person on the internet “hears” from an “insider” LOL
Thanks for the laughs guys/girls
November 12th, 2025 at 1:34 pm
Would hate to see Bucky get injured again by coming back early. If the Orthopaedic doctor says okay and he is good to go, we gotta go with it. But if not, he needs to stay out another week or more. We all know the opposing team are going to go after him and hit hard. No more re-injuries.
November 12th, 2025 at 1:41 pm
Anybody disrespecting our coach is a fool. Todd Bowles is an NFL legend and some of the dooders typing up their small-minded hate on this website probably live in the back of their Mamaw’s single wide trailer in the bad part of Ruskin.
Bowles’ defensive game plan completely neutralized Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ high-powered offense, holding them to just three field goals (no touchdowns) in the Super Bowl. That’s 9 points.
It was the first time in Mahomes’ NFL career that his team failed to score a touchdown.
Put some respect on his name or shut your stupid mouth! 🙂
November 12th, 2025 at 1:52 pm
Agree all this nonsense about inside contacts and something other than an injury. Man please stop with this nonsense !!!. This kind of BS is not good for anyone!!
November 12th, 2025 at 1:57 pm
SLAPPY
CAREFUL!!!!!!
the truth gets you hurt around here lol
also, it’ll be 50 degrees at 7am in Tampa tomorrow morning….blame bowles!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
November 12th, 2025 at 2:05 pm
What does the Superbowl in 2021 have to do with anything in 2025 in the what have you done for me lately league of the NFL? Wild
November 12th, 2025 at 2:08 pm
Tucker will suffice with a porous bills run defence. That’s weakness buys Bucky another week to heal.
November 12th, 2025 at 2:12 pm
Smarter than Joe
Have you ever read one of your posts… Here on the Internet?
November 12th, 2025 at 2:25 pm
at 7:42 in the 1st quarter, Grizz had Tucker and White in the back field…
RW motioned to the left side and Tucker ran behind the RG for a gain of 12yards!!!
Grizz never ran that play or formation again…
wake up Grizz!!!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
November 12th, 2025 at 2:48 pm
“RW motioned to the left side and Tucker ran behind the RG for a gain of 12yards!!!”
Grizzard has “No Marbles” like Kamikazi Tanaka told Serrano
November 12th, 2025 at 2:54 pm
Grizzard has “No Marbles” like Kamikazi Tanaka told Serrano
LOL!!!!!!!!
Good one!!!!….lol….
OC runs a play for 12yards and never runs it again but its bowles fault…lol..
GO BUCS!!!!
November 12th, 2025 at 2:56 pm
So are some of you actually attempting to say that the CENTURY LONG record that was BROKEN by our defense wasn’t a direct result Bowles coaching or strategies?
You OF COURSE DO REALIZE that his strategy Wasn’t Busted once? NO… NO IT WAS BUSTED FOUR TIMES IN ONE GAME!
OK, OK… I’m confused and I get that I get confused at times WHEN I CAN’T BELIEVE MY OWN LYING EYES! I Understand that so help me out…
Who EXACTLY calls the plays on defense? Who EXACTLY coached these guys up and Instructed them where they are GOING TO BE ON THE FIELD OF PLAY? And EXACTLY who taught them that THIS IS how you’re GONNA play the ball if X happens?
Who’s RESPONSIBLE for ALL OF THAT again???? Did ALL of those defensive players ACTUALLY BLOW IT and were out of place from where Todd Bowles TOLD THEM to be? AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN?
Well shoot….. I guess I just can’t believe the LIES! Of my lying eyes of course because CLEARLY and SURELY it Could Not Have Been the Head Coach OR the Defensive Coordinator…. I just can’t seem to figure out who IS RESPONSIBLE… huh..
November 12th, 2025 at 3:09 pm
The bigger question is why aren’t the Bucs going to be practicing in pads ? I mean the way they play lately they act like they are afraid to engage. Underwear football is like being a driving range pro.
November 12th, 2025 at 3:18 pm
These little guys tend to have shorter careers. I hope Bucky is effective for 10 seasons but 3-4 is the realistic maximum to play at the level to which he was accustomed. Hope I’m wrong.
November 12th, 2025 at 3:22 pm
The problem with Tucker is, every time he gets rolling, they don’t give him the ball again. Feed him! He’s a better runner than RW.
November 12th, 2025 at 3:39 pm
Slappy calling them out!
(Hey, wait. Didn’t Bowles’ nickname used to be Slappy?)
Give em hell!
November 12th, 2025 at 3:57 pm
We sure could use a healthy BI 7 against the Bills !!
Go Bucs !!
November 12th, 2025 at 4:03 pm
its been about 6 games? similar to williams suspension . there are certain sports where players serve silent suspensions to help the sport save face
November 12th, 2025 at 4:20 pm
I disagree Smarter than Joe. The vibes and energy were high on Sunday for 10 minutes.
Go watch the first series. TD for Bucs and 3 and out for Pats. Bucs were ready for the start but not ready for the rest. That happened and this is where the killer instinct articles come from, Bucs thought they were in for a romp.
And Slappy, Bowles called good D injuries the SB winning playoff run, no arguing that. He had killers then, a 19 sack guy in Barrett, JPP, Suh, a younger Vea, D.White playing with his hair on fire, young stud CBs and Winfield.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:22 pm
Damn cut myself off on another long winded post.
Mahomes in the SB was missing half his OL. That unit was more decimated than ours currently is, much more cause we have our tackles.
I could have coached D that SB and help them to less than 16. Ferocious front vs backups.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:22 pm
Ummm it’s not just DS and Lawrence now I’m sure Joe will write about it bc a team source used the phrase “Bucky has to get right with Bucky” and left it at that preferring not to delve into “players personal lives” but wasn’t sure we’d see Bucky again this year
Jason Lichts “good guy” philosophy is complete BS – you can’t judge any books by their covers
And give me Suh over McCoy 100/100 x
November 12th, 2025 at 4:26 pm
Yea Slappy, you are the TRUE voice of reason, referencing events that happened 4 years ago. That’s great! Go back in history and find a nugget that supports your view. You should be working in the Fed govt. They need more brains like yours right now.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:32 pm
Slappy – just stepping out from mamaws trailer to remind everyone Bowles sux
Won’t be able to stop Cook and you’ll see a DE trying to cover Shakir on another broken play
Now you have suspended player and the QB is calling out his teammates with bad
It’s a House of Cards but winning cures all ills – we shall see – back the mamaws meatloaf
November 12th, 2025 at 4:36 pm
Per PFT: “Running back Bucky Irving wasn’t the only player back at Buccaneers practice on Wednesday.
Wide receiver Chris Godwin was also on the field as the team worked to prepare for Sunday’s game against the Bills.”
November 12th, 2025 at 4:38 pm
DS Says
“I hope what I heard was wrong about Bucky but we will see”
He’s back practicing now, so it’s not watch you think.
I believe you are getting him mixed up with the RB who got suspended.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:39 pm
Redzone, see above comment.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:41 pm
Oxycondomns Says:
“there are certain sports where players serve silent suspensions to help the sport save face”
Not the NFL. Everything is put out there.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:49 pm
Let Bucky ease back into the game flow, decoy him some, and put some bigger shoulder pads on him.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:53 pm
Smarter than Joe – you mean like how all the chatter about Doug Martin going back as early as his second year in the league were “rumors?” Guess what, everything that was said were true and then some. Josh Freeman too – him in particular I have personal experience with when I worked at Blue Martini as a doorman in my younger, better looking, more physically fit days. I am telling you right now. you don’t want to know what a good quarter of the league is doing when it isn’t football sunday. Never meet your heroes – if you consider 24 yr olds heroes anyway. Nothing wrong with chasing tail, being a hornball, drinking – guys are gnna be dudes for the most part. But a lot of guys are in to weird shi, ill put it like that. Bucky seems like a great dude, but you dont know what hes up too on Fri and Sat nights.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:56 pm
What about Godwin he is listed as LP.
November 12th, 2025 at 4:57 pm
Bonzai
It’s great he’s practicing but Rondes comments were strictly on Bucky
November 12th, 2025 at 4:59 pm
I would rather Bucky take the next 2 weeks off and heal up for the stretch run. I don’t think Buffalo in November is where you want to test out an injured shoulder.
November 12th, 2025 at 5:11 pm
No, no. *This* century.
November 12th, 2025 at 5:26 pm
I just read it looks like he’s playing….
Fingers crossed, and hopefully he’s not rushing the healing. Their run d sucks, so we might just be able to win this one
November 12th, 2025 at 6:10 pm
I hope they save Bucky for the Sunday night game next week against the Rams that game is more important as it is a conference game.
November 12th, 2025 at 7:27 pm
1234Bucky missing won’t alter the outcome.1234
November 12th, 2025 at 7:32 pm
It’s just good to hear Bucky and Chris are back on the practice field be it underwear football or not.
November 12th, 2025 at 9:38 pm
Smarter than Joe….I concur…that was funny stuff!
November 12th, 2025 at 11:19 pm
He has to be able to withstand a hit and a peanut punch simultaneously without losing the ball
