It’s been a down year for seven-time Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker of the Cardinals.
No, the subject of this discussion had nothing to do with Michael Vick or the 2013 Buccaneers.
The topic was tomorrow’s Cardinals-Bucs game at The Licht House.
NBC analyst and film guru Chris Simms, the former Bucs QB, was in disbelief at the thought of anyone picking the Cardinals to win.
“I mean how can you pick them? I can’t pick them. I just can’t. They’re kind of like a beaten down puppy at this point,” Simms said of Arizona. “Do I think they can keep it close? Yes. But that’s like a typical week for the Cardinals mostly, other than a few games here and there.”
Simms went on to say the Cardinals are devoid of talent, and he believes the Bucs will move the ball on offense without much angst.
“No difference-maker or playmaker on the [Arizona] defensive side of the ball,” Simms said.
Joe is confident Arizona will sell out to stop the run and test whether Baker Mayfield left shoulder is healthy, and see if they can get a shot or two on him.
That seems to be the logical move. “This Joe” is expecting a solid day from the Bucs’ receiving corps.

Heavy on the running game, with some short passes sprinkled in to Godwin & Egbuka. Maybe even a deep one or two.
With Bredeson & Bucky coming back, there’s no reason the Bucs can’t win this one, even if our defense never leaves the bench.

Anyway, was watching game day view NFL channel. They, all 3 analysts picked the Lions over GB, Ravens over Cinn, KC over Dallas. My point , yes all 3 looked like wins, but lost. So my point is yes Ariz could do likewise. This Bucs D is really really bad. Ariz with McBride and Harris Jr who is going to play may put up a lot of points. Anyway I have no ,no faith in this Bucs D. Yes ,just don’t be surprised if the Bucs lose. Well if Mc Column gets benched, Reddick comes back and makes a difference ,Winfield returns from vacation, and Dennis isn’t caught day dreaming, then yes the Bucs could win. However, that is a lot of IF’S.

The Bucs should get Tez involved in this game. Arizona is no doubt game planning for everybody else. Tez is good for two TDs. Just a hunch.

Certainly am not rooting for a Bucs loss (ever)- but I think most fans are ready for a change after this season baring a late postseason run.

Not rooting for a loss but we are in the same boat as last year. Winning out against trash teams, their franchise mode settings are trash and as long as they win the division they’ll keep doing it. Most of us are tired of the participation trophies. Licht is not giving the effort, he is in cruise control and losing will change that weak mindset of him and this awful coach

I’m an optimist… I hope the Bucs put up 40 and fire Bowles afterwards!! He is not a great HC. This team needs a great head coach!

Maybe, just maybe , they’re playing to their level. Losing to teams that are better doesn’t mean the locker room is lost…until upgrades arrive on the defensive side, this team is an 11-20th ranked team. Not surprised if they go 5-1 the rest of the way. When cancey returns we should see the difference…albeit a small one.

Pelsbuc, if you just looked at the team stats tomorrow’s game would be like one of those classic Perkins’ era Buc game against someone like the Lions or the Packers when all those teams were 4-12 or 5-11 after the dust settled though the Bucs usually won and hurt the draft picks. Could be an entertaining game though both teams are not very good right now thanks to Bowles play calling..

TheBucsAnthem, definitely not rooting for a loss. Most of us want a win today. We don’t want to go down the Lovie road for a number one first round pick again. And do you think Bowles, Licht, and others will be fired instantaneously? That wouldn’t happen until after the season…, if it happens.
We actually got Tez Johnson in the 7th round. Bucky 4th round. Heck, Tom Brady 6th round. Many reasons why I am not big on the Combine. Many that don’t do well at the Combine, end up doing very well after being drafted. So many good picks are later on and Licht knows all about that.
We fans are in for the long run. Playoffs and Super Bowl are added icings on the cake.

This Buc offense is a wait and see, not just week to week, but drive to drive. Baker is playing way below last year. As stated here on JBF, Baker is one of the worst QB’s in the NFL with a CLEAN pocket. It sure would be nice to see that change this week. Along with a Defense that scares no one but Buc fans, this team has become a weekly crapshoot to predict. Would just like to enjoy watching a win. The playoffs are miles from here right now. Screw everything else, just want to watch a win today.
