The Athletic: Chris Godwin WIll Play Against Rams

November 23rd, 2025

Returns tonight?

Chris Godwin may be listed as questionable for tonight’s game with the Rams, available to the nation on NBC. But Diana Russini of The Athletic has no question about Godwin.

Per Russini, two sources tell her Godwin will suit up and get on the field.

This would be Godwin’s first appearance since he re-injured his fibula against Seattle.

Godwin wasn’t tearing things up when he played earlier in the season. Godwin played against Philadelphia and Seattle but had meager numbers, 52 total yards receiving.

The Eagles pretty much locked him down as Baker Mayfield targeted Godwin 10 times but he had just three catches for 26 yards. Godwin was better against Seattle, catching three passes for 26 yards on four targets.

The way the Bucs’ passing game has sunk into the abyss since the win over San Francisco, just having Godwin on the field ought to loosen things up for stud rookie Emeka Egbuka.

Don’t expect much from Godwin but hope that his mere presence will remove some attention from Egbuka.

“he re-injured his fibula against Seattle.”

I thought the original injury was a dislocated ankle…

  3. FortMyersDave Says:

“Some snaps” can mean anything from a handful of plays to a sizeable percentage of the snaps. He should help Egbuka when he is lined up in the slot but I doubt if he is going to be on the highlight reel. Still, hope he stays healthy and maybe he can do some things for the Bucs in the stretch rush.

    Post needs editing. Many redundancies

  5. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

This is good, because it takes some of the attention off Egbuka. I don’t expect Godwin to come out looking in healthy, mid-season form, but I’d love for him to step back into that chain moving role we’ve missed in his absence.

  6. BigZ Says:

Let’s see what 22 mil per gets us.

  7. Jeff Says:

2 catches for 12 yards and tweaks his leg. Still can’t believe the Bucs signed this dude.

  8. BigZ Says:

100 Jeff, but the GM doesn’t want to risk picks for proven vets. Pretty risky contract he gave to CG. The dope also missed out on a nice comp pick had CG signed elsewhere. But how many were really interested?

  9. Deeboooo Says:

Uhhh Patriots offered him more money my dude. He chose to stay with the Bycs

  10. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

What 22 million gets “us”? Not sure when I swiped my debit card.

  11. BigZ Says:

One team out of how many? Yeah… dude. I like CG, but those contracts kill teams. Hes not CG of three or four years ago. Again, I like my team and don’t fall in love with players.
Rice, Lott, Montana, Sapp, Lynch, Haley, Sanders, Moss, Owens etc. Great players who were cut, traded or not resigned. Not to mention most were healthy. CG, had a bad knee injury and his ankle was on backwards. Hes almost 30. Bad move by JL.

Lastly, the Pats breathed a huge sigh of relief for not signing him, dude.

***RES*** Go big 3: Chris, EE2, and Tez!!! And go Bucs’ secondary, especially Izien and Parrish!! Pick6, Jacob!!!

  13. Deeboooo Says:

I think we’ll have an idea of what 22 million got us by the end of the season. I’m not counting my chickens before they hatch. I guarantee no one in this site knows Godwins potential this year

  14. Buccos Says:

We never expected to get much from Godwin early in the season

  15. FootBall1 Says:

Hey, I am just happy to see Chris get back on the field!!!. Man think about all he has been through for a minute!!. Nobody is more dedicated to the Bucs other maybe Evans, and he works so hard. Yes he will not be in mid season form, but hey let’s hope he does well for his first game back. Other than watching CG and hopefully Parish playing outside their is not much to tune in for . Unfortunately it may well be another embrassment on national tv.
I don’t plan on watching but few plays hopefully seeing Godwin catch a pass. If the Rams score on their first possession, it will be a long long night, with many Rams highlights. This game likely to show case a real superbowl contender vs a now real super bowl pretender.

  16. Brooks Says:

Never should have resigned him he’ll be on IR by the end of tonight

  17. SBucs Says:

Expect Todd to play bloodbath defense tonight against the Rams.

  18. Les Says:
