Stephen Ross: Sell
November 3rd, 2025The Dolphins stink, despite having quite a few good to excellent players.
And from a former long-time Dolphins beat writer for the Miami Herald, Armando Salguero, comes word that Dolphins chieftain Stephen Ross has seen enough. In the wake of his midnight (?) firing of worthless general manager Chris Grier and in the immediate aftermath of (another) embarrassing loss Thursday night, the Dolphins are having a garage sale, Salguero typed for Outkick.
While owner Stephen Ross approved of, and even encouraged interim general manager Champ Kelly selling off valuable pieces of the roster if he could, he told coach Mike McDaniel that his job is safe for the moment and will remain that way if he can rally the team.
The Dolphins have shifted focus from Grier, who wanted to basically hold the line on keeping talent at the trade deadline, most notably receiver Jaylen Waddle, to fresh orders from Ross to make practically all players available at a good price, so the team can horde draft picks for 2026.
This is hilarious to Joe. Ross tells the interim shot-caller to get draft picks. Yet at the same time he tells squirrelly coach Mike McDaniel his job is safe if he can win.
How is he supposed to win if his owner is selling off parts? LOL That won’t create chaos in the organization!
Since the Dolphins are waving at traffic to pull into the front yard, Joe has an eye on outside linebacker Bradley Chubb. He is starting to warm up. Chubb has four sacks in his last five games.
Since he didn’t play last year due to knee surgery, he should have more tread on the tire than other 29-year olds in the NFL.
Give Joe a good reason why Chubb would not be a valuable asset to this Bucs roster.

it’s like watching a train crash in slow motion.

Reason #1—The Bucs will be silent today and tomorrow because the GM hopes all will be well. He will stick to his love for draft picks. Period.
The result will be 3 straight losses and a shaky season’s end. But, hey, there’s always hope for a better day.
November 3rd, 2025 at 4:27 am
Selling off may be addition by subtraction for the dolphins, they’re soft as charmin. As with the Bucs, it seems they get their aura from their head coach. Theirs is soft, ours is flat.
November 3rd, 2025 at 4:31 am
Chubb’s cap hit is $31.2M in 2026 and $31.5M in 2027
So there’s 62.7 MILLION reasons not to trade valuable draft picks for an aging, too often injured DE who is more suited to play in a 4-3 than a 3-4 defense….
November 3rd, 2025 at 4:38 am
Bradley Chubb (9 games – 2025)
25 tackles (14 solo) – 5 TFLs – 4 sacks – 7 Pressures – 7 QB hits
YaYa Diaby (8 games – 2025)
24 tackles (15 solo) – 7 TFLs – 4 sacks – 12 Pressures – 8 QB hits
November 3rd, 2025 at 5:02 am
Pickgrin, why would you not want 2 of those? Or are you saying you do? Diary look good this year. Imagine if the Bucs had one on the other side of the DL?
I would like to see us add some talent – at a good value. Either a OLB or WR.
Joe, your obsession with sacks is maybe forgetting we lost half of our starting offense. Half.
November 3rd, 2025 at 5:03 am
Diaby* darn spell check
November 3rd, 2025 at 5:17 am
I have always supported the idea of getting more edge rush and sacks.
But I think right now, this year, the best area for an infusion of talent would be WR.
Baker is/was playing the best ball of his career.
If Baker has little to throw to, we are wasting it.
Another just decent WR would free up EE and allow him to flourish.
The D looks decent again.
I wonder what J Waddle would cost us???
November 3rd, 2025 at 5:31 am
Ummm. Why is McDaniels referred to as “squirrelly”?
November 3rd, 2025 at 5:50 am
The point Senor Harry is that Chubb is NOT “good value”….
Diaby – a 26 y.o. 3rd rd pick – whose cap hit is $1.5M this year and $1.7M next year, is outplaying 29 y.o. Chubb who would probably cost us a 3rd rd pick to acquire + about $35M for the remainder of this year and next season.
Diaby has never missed a game since the Bucs drafted him in 2023.
Chubb has played in 82 games and missed 42 games in the last 8 years
Makes no sense to pay all that money AND a valuable draft pick for an aging, often injured pass rusher who as I mention is better suited to play DE in a 4-3 alignment than OLB in a 3-4 defense.
Licht has been killing it with 3rd rd picks lately (Parrish, J-Mac, Tykee Smith, Diaby)…. there’s no way he’s gonna trade a day 2 pick + all that money for a player like Chubb.
That money is needed to resign Evans, Otton and White next year btw….
November 3rd, 2025 at 5:58 am
Yeah, but how is Chubb in zone coverage?! This is still Todd Bowles defense
November 3rd, 2025 at 6:41 am
Pickgrin, I always enjoy your posts. The premise of your argument is giving up a 3rd rd pick – I said “good value”. I never suggested such a high draft pick. And I doing think you can compare what Diaby is making to Chubb. Yaya is still on his rookie deal, of course he is a bargain. What do you think he is going to make in 2 more years? Defiantly more than the $35mm Chubb is making now.
In my subsequent post, I advocated getting a WR, any decent WR. Sure, I would love to have a player like Waddle. But he will also be very expensive and I am against giving up too much. Licht does too good of a job finding talent.

Joe … ‘Give Joe a good reason why Chubb would not be a valuable asset to this Bucs roster.’
Totally agree with Pickgrin that Chubb is not ‘good value’. But there’s another reason if you look at his career.
Chubb was drafted 8 years ago in 2018. Since then he’s had FOUR productive years (2018 – 12 sacks; 2020 – 7.5 sacks; 2022 – 8 sacks; 2023 – 11 sacks). And 2025 is shaping up to be a respectable year (4 sacks in 9 games).
But look at the other years. In 2019 he was hurt & only played in 4 games (got 1 sack). In 2021 he was hurt & played in 7 games (got 0 sacks). In 2024 he missed the entire season (yup, 0 sacks). He’s now 29 years old. His current contract runs through 2027 & is for $18.2 mil average per year (but his CAP Hits are much different as Pickgrin noted).
Value? Not there. We overpaid for Reddick. Let’s not compund that mistake by making it twice.

I’ll bet a mortgage payment that Godwin, Luke and Bucky aren’t back by the Pat’s game next Sunday. What a waste resigning Godwin KNOWING he’s damaged goods. Goedeke too. He’s a glass tiger. This team has zero chance of making any noise in the playoffs. Too many fragile handle with care players on this team.
November 3rd, 2025 at 6:45 am
Would rather find a LB somewhere that is starting caliber. If David gets hurt we’re down to Dennis who can’t cover anyone and Dion Jones.
November 3rd, 2025 at 7:11 am
Exactly Bucs Fan81 as our defense has had serious issues covering short middle and sideline short. Bucs got a shot in the arm for their hopes of picking up a very high seed in the NFC with Packers and Lions taking a loss yesterday.
So the only player that really makes sense for Tampa is LB Jordyn Brooks who is the not only the leading tackler in the NFL , but also sticks to backs and TE’s like glue. In the last 5 games his tackle totals are 8,9,9,10, and 13. At 28 years old Brooks is in the prime of his career and could be the secret sauce that pushes the Bucs over the top. Brooks contract averages at 8.75 mil per through 2026 which is very friendly. Even if you had to give up a 3rd Round pick and a ok player to get Brooks you are still so much more talented as a team with his addition it would be well worth it.
November 3rd, 2025 at 7:12 am
Did I mention Miami is in Fire Sale Mode???
November 3rd, 2025 at 7:13 am
I swear this has to the be the most spoiled/pessimistic fan base…we could win the Super Bowl and ya’ll would still whine like lil beatches
November 3rd, 2025 at 7:21 am
Defense Rules, seems like my gut feels are often times reinforced by your analysis. But I like Reddick. My gut says he’s a better football player than he’s been getting credit for. Sage and Joes have been kicking him around and then he’s out injured. So now the dog is getting kicked while he’s down. Interested seeing how he plays coming off the injury and Nelson breathing down his neck. I’m thinking that’ll be a good problem to have. Our defense is improving doesn’t matter what the stats are showing at the moment. The stats will follow. In fact this team can beat you with the offense and or the defense and our kicker can beat you too. I believe we are positioned to win a championship this year.
November 3rd, 2025 at 7:35 am
chubb is no bueno!!!!!
imo, if we make a trade it should be for Oline help….
with that said, no trade/signings are coming to the 813!!!!
everyone has to step up…
6-2!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:02 am
Just because Miami says fire sale doesn’t mean they are asking any less for their players. A guard would help the most, but I doubt we even get that.
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:21 am
So a knee injury requiring surgery is less wear is less wear than playing 17 to 19 games with the ordinary nicks and bruises? Evidently Joe is lucky enough never to have had knee surgery.
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:27 am
Thinking we may get a surprise. Unsure who, but an offense rental for sure. Liking Waddle, but he would cost us way too much.

“Selling off may be addition by subtraction for the dolphins, they’re soft as charmin. As with the Bucs, it seems they get their aura from their head coach. Theirs is soft, ours is flat”
This is just dumb. We’re 6-2 halfway through the season. Our players are extremely motivated to win.
The Bucs are nothing like the Dolphins.
Our head coach may not be perfect, but he’s doing a top notch job most of the time.
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:29 am
Pickgrin= correct on Chubbs. Like Brooks more on their team and Waddle as WR help which we could use. Phillips maybe if right price. WR Joe has talked about from Raiders, some OL help for down the stretch. There maybe some OL talent on this team we don’t know about yet or the total status of injured guys. The offense is having the back up’s get injured, just like the DB’s last year.
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:29 am
Pickgrin nailed it.
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:33 am
Buc u, I will take you up on that bet and says that Bucky Irving will play so I will send you my cashapp info after sundays game
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:33 am
Agreed, Sheen!! Some of these dudes are stuck in the lost decade. All they do is complain in the comments
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:44 am
Well there goes Dolphins DE Jaelan Phillips…..
Traded to the Eagles for 3rd round draft pick…
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:50 am
so he’s BETTER for having knee problems? smh
November 3rd, 2025 at 8:58 am
See that smirking yahoo in that photo? That’s the big (?) cheese owner of the Dolphins. He’s some RE time share moneybags. No wonder the Dolphins smell and play like rotten fish. Shame, too. I wouldn’t touch anything that clown owns with a 100-mile barge pole. Go Bucs!!
November 3rd, 2025 at 9:07 am
People on here acting like the Bucs are good with barely scraping by the Falcons, Jets, Texans, My money is on the Panthers to win this division
November 3rd, 2025 at 10:15 am
Chubb was the main guy I had in mind for a trade target so I like it for sure
November 3rd, 2025 at 12:04 pm
Chubb should have tread on his tires after missing last season with a knee injury…. how many seasons has he missed due to knee injuries and what makes you think a guy with chronic knee injuries has any tread on his tires?
November 3rd, 2025 at 12:22 pm
How’s his coverage skills? Todd loves that.
November 3rd, 2025 at 1:59 pm
Bonzai we win IN SPITE of bowles, NOT because of him. It blow my mind more people don’t see this. If we didn’t have Baker & his moxie (imagine we had Tua), we’d be even more charmin soft like we have been ever since bowles took over. His defensive scheme SUCKS, and he provides zero motivation for the team. Did you watch how the team played when Arians was coach? Do you not see a difference? It was more than better talent, they were motivated. I’m so sick of hearing the Joes et al talk about the “behind the scenes” version of bowles. They treat him like the little make a wish coach that could. GAMES ARENT WON BEHIND THE SCENES! This has been his best HCing season, but I still dream of the day we are free of him.
