Receiver Watch Has History, Merit
November 4th, 2025Back on Nov. 3, 2020, the Bucs first activated Antonio Brown, the receiver gift Tom Brady had been seeking.
Never mind that Bucco Bruce Arians said earlier that year he wouldn’t put Brown on his roster. The Bucs had injury challenges at receiver and the team acted to make sure its special quarterback wasn’t left lacking weapons.
Nobody at One Buc Palace cared that Brown had a pending sexual assault lawsuit. It made no difference that he was an older receiver coming off a league suspension. The Bucs won a Super Bowl three months later, a game in which Brown scored a touchdown.
Fast-forward five years and the NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m. this afternoon. Baker Mayfield, also a very special quarterback, is dealing with major injuries to his receiving corps.
Will the Bucs cling to a future mid-round draft pick like Joe clings to the last cold beer on a July afternoon? Or will they make a deal to get Mayfield help that goes beyond hope, prayer, crystals and herbs.
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com penned a piece today noting NFL media researcher John Todd shared that “an in-season acquisition has scored a touchdown in each of the last 5 Super Bowls, the last 3 via trade.” They were DeAndre Hopkins, Mecole Hardman and Kadarius Toney, all Chiefs receivers, plus Rams receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Brown.
Earlier today, the Jaguars acquired veteran receiver Jakobi Meyers, a 1,000-yard receiver last year, from Las Vegas for fourth- and sixth-round picks.

I’m just getting madder and madder… AD A WEAPON LICHT! D@MN YOU!
November 4th, 2025 at 12:10 pm
Doubt Jason does anything but I’d like him to. You only get so many teams in your career good enough to be 6-2 at the bye. I get it that he has third day picks all over this roster, but you need to strike while the iron is hot
November 4th, 2025 at 12:15 pm
“A GUN. BUT NO BULLETS”
Pie in the sky is grossly candy a$$….. Then again, as grim as it looks “In Reality”, it kinda reminds me of Gerald McCoy dancing on the sidelines because HE KNOWS that he might as well dance around for fun because dancing around because we won is… getting hard to imagine without talent infusion QUICK!
This next game is going to come down to how seriously the team is training and a Whole Lot of personal desire. In fact, that’s Every Game going forward without effective offensive weapons.
The cheer leaders DO Realize that the best receiver we have is a rookie, Right…
Shep is second / third string, Tez is a rookie, and right now I can’t remember the name of our other 4th stringer, O and another rookie or a first year guy whom is also 4th/5th string that’s left in the actual receiving depth. THAT’S IT!
TE’s? Otton’s not shabby the goat but let’s be realistic… He’s NOT scaring anybody by himself. He’ll put up a fight at least. Culp? And what has he done? I suppose he’s helped with blocking this year, caught a few last year, dropped a couple this year…
Running backs? Well….. O LINE!
Did I forget some phenom somewhere? I’ve had a long night perhaps I’m missing the “Offensive” silver lining……
And Finally our Offensive shot caller… Do I Really Need To Bring up THAT Reality?
The ONLY WAY we win games going forward EVEN WITH a talent injection is if our brand new OC Somehow turns into Coen and has a DEVASTATINGLY GREAT, dink and dunk, slick as he!! ATTACK FACTOR figured out! And I’m not betting on that happening. We Need A Miracle in order to just stay afloat…. Realistically.., what weapons do we have? You know “IN REALITY”
Again, it REALLY DEPENDS on How Seriously the team is training RIGHT NOW (hot or cold) soft or Hard! And IF Todd Bowles can MAKE THEM BELIEVE IN THE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE! NOW IS THE TIME THAT A “GREAT COACH” RISES ABOVE!
We WILL all see what Todd Bowles is made of BECAUSE without The Bullets for the Gun….. BOWLES HAS TO FIGURE THIS OUT FAST! And if we collapse… I Hope they Run Him Out Of Town Because He’s Not Qualified! SOMEWHERE AND SOMETIME IS NOW For Bowles…
HOW ABOUT IT LICHT! WHERE ARE YOU?
November 4th, 2025 at 12:16 pm
Jason knows what he’s doing. You could have prime Jerry Rice, ME13, Davonte Adams, healthy Godwin and EE on this team. If you can’t block a dead yak it doesn’t matter. The A gap is wide open and even Tristan has turned matador. No room to run, no time to pass and opponents are compressing the short and intermediate passes, playing blanket. So the quick passes don’t generate YAC. (not yak)
The proper bye week response is to coach and scheme your way out of it.
Hope Todd gits-r-dun.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:17 pm
It’s OBVIOUS that some people suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:19 pm
3 hours and 45 minutes to go! Veteran wide receiver would be huge with Evans out and Godwin unknown. I’d try to pry archane from Miami, send them white and a 6th round pick. We could use more explosive plays from the run game and Bucky’s availability for the season and deep into the playoffs scares me. If we can’t run the ball effectively, our offense sputters 😔
November 4th, 2025 at 12:23 pm
There are so many moving parts to a trade. We don’t know if Licht has tried to trade for someone and been rejected, or perhaps not even entertained the idea.
What player or position?
Does that player fit the team culture?
Compensation?
Contract & Salary Cap Issues?
Look at all the players in the league, and notice how many trades are actually made. The percentage is so low. Most teams are willing to stay the course and keep their draft capital in check. I am not saying Licht shouldn’t make a move, but no one outside One Buc Place is ever going to know the behind the scenes moves that were attempted, not attempted or couldn’t come to a agreement.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:24 pm
as much as players love playing with baker he still doesnt have that brady or mahomes effect where people who want a super bowl come play with him
November 4th, 2025 at 12:26 pm
not sure why folks are all doom and gloom lol….
no trade speaks volumes!!!!….our roster is SB READY!!!!
Luke, Bucky & CG14 will be back…while they’re gone we’ll continue to win games!!!!
j.meyers was on the raiders lol….someone had to be the best player on the worst team lol…
Meyers, Coen and the Jags wont do squat this year!!!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!

Hey Jackson.
Did you miss the point of Joe’s article?

I say this often, but it feels like 33% of commenters here want the bucs to lose.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:32 pm
A fourth and a seventh for 8+ games of Myers is a steep price imo.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:33 pm
Why not bring back Antonio? Pretty sure he could use the cash. Recently checked the definition of thug in the dictionary, and up popped Antonio’s picture.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:35 pm

November 4th, 2025 at 12:36 pm
Marvin Mims jr. would be a possibility from Denver?
November 4th, 2025 at 12:39 pm
Meyers just got traded to Jags ,, way to go Liam 🙁
November 4th, 2025 at 12:42 pm
Memories of AB…
Jason knows what he is doing. I just learned from Ira’s latest podcast that we have the highest amount of drafted players. That pretty much says it all. I thought we may have a surprise, but no longer. Meyers can go to the Jags but it may not be a good fit. You just never know.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:43 pm
Godwin doesn’t look like he is the answer to anything but wasted money at this point for fourth and a sixth brutal welp whatever I guess
November 4th, 2025 at 12:47 pm
Obvious One Says, I got the point of the article. I was stating that maybe the Bucs have tried to make a trade, but you have to have a trading partner. The deal also has to make sense financially, and without risk of mortgaging the future.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:50 pm
Is Trey Palmer on the practice squad of the aints or is he still injured? I would grab him for familiarity and see if Russell Gage is available. Rakim Jarrett would be my next call. Hell, could even grab Odell if he was cheap. Just do something. At this point we should throw Chris Godwin on IR too cause my gut tells me he isnt coming back
November 4th, 2025 at 12:52 pm
“Just do something” is how teams end up in the toilet
November 4th, 2025 at 12:52 pm
Bucs are toast. One and done because Bowles got all the receivers hurt by playing guys too soon.
November 4th, 2025 at 12:59 pm

No need to give up picks.

Maybe not, but the Buccaneers now have been established as a great organization to play for…and our record says a lot.
There was a time when the Bucs were where careers die. That’s completely changed now.
November 4th, 2025 at 1:08 pm
Bucs at 6-2 have the luxury of time to heal. Panthers won’t catch them. I’m banking on Godwin returning 80% of his former self and possibly MacMillan. Bucky is soon to return. even if it’s only 80%. I feel if they didn’t have good info on injury healing they would be shopping for a receiver whereas the fact they don’t indicates the injured are close to returning. I wonder if you couldn’t use Rachaad White in the slot if/when Bucky returns? Dude is a beast of a receiver.
November 4th, 2025 at 1:09 pm
Seattle addresses their receiver issues.
Meanwhile Jason and Todd bank on “hope” while fielding Ebuka and a bunch of nobodies.
But hey, at least he’s got all of his picks. You never can have too many Braswells, Logan Halls and JTS’s.

StormyInFl, our ‘hobodies’ are as good as hale the league starters.

November 4th, 2025 at 1:34 pm
Jackson, please keep in mind I’m Not yelling at you….
The point IS sometimes YOU HAVE TO come Out of your comfort zone to actually Win “THE BIG ONE”! Every single thing you brought up is the usual and believe me, the obvious. Repeated again and again.
The “Point” is if we make No Attempt and overly concern ourselves with a “alleged” wonderful culture VS Actually Fighting To WIN The ENTIRE POINT of Playing a Football Season, Then WHAT ARE WE DOING???
Saving up for a rainy day? Is THAT a JOKE? Why should I as a Financial Prospect Spend even ONE MORE PENNY on a team (THE GM) that’s already quit? WITH A RECORD OF 6 and 2!?????????
It’s NOT GOING TO GET BETTER THAN THIS GUYS! WE CAN’T JUST QUIT TRYING NOW and sort of “HOPE” for a miracle.
YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR OWN MIRACLE! There is No Other Way!
With the Addition of a “Credible” Wide Receiver, WE REMAIN RELEVANT AND HAVE A STRONG CHANCE TO WIN! We ARE IN FACT DESPERATE FOR THAT TYPE OF WEAPON! It’s a RENTAL and “maybe more” BUT IT’S A MUST TO COMPETE!
I’m not sure what some are waiting for but the reality is a 6 and 2 start is A RARE THING AROUND HERE and to just say O…. we don’t really have ANY depth left but I’m more concerned with a NON GUARANTEED DRAFT PICK SOMEWHERE in a future that may or may not be there is In Fact CHILDISH and Irresponsible!
If we spend a third round or less draft pick on a “KNOWN QUANTITY” for the “BRIGHTEST FUTURE” That is NOW! At 6 and 2 of which I don’t know WHEN the last time that was, THAT IS the “Wisest Move” we can make!
Tomorrow Guarantee’s us NOTHING! The Future “IS NOW”!
November 4th, 2025 at 1:34 pm
Ok Seattle I see u.
November 4th, 2025 at 1:36 pm
You’re essentially looking for someone better than Shepherd but no better than McMillan on a last yr deal or rookie contract, that’s alap available for a 6th or 7th rd pick. Not a lot of those guys floating around via trade. I would be more interested in a young g dynamic TE that’s under contract for 2+ yrs. Otton is going to be a FA soon, might want to add a weapon you can try out as a potential replacement for Otton.
November 4th, 2025 at 1:39 pm
I know the Saints would never of traded Shaheed to the Bucs, but there are others out there for the taking. What is Licht and his staff doing??? Looking at film for 5th, 6th and 7th round picks. They are playing for 1 and done this year, analysis paralysis

Bobby M – Mark Andrews is a FA after this year. Wouldn’t be surprised if we plan to sign him as another Baker buddy and for cheaper than we could Otton. Andrews plus the young guys and maybe another draft pick is my prediction. Guessing someone will overpay for Otton.

Do you trust Licht after saying Chris Braswell was going to have a break out year?
Face it, what was once a very bright spot for the Bucs is really not so bright for the guys that will be retiring soon. Both Chris and Mike may have 1 year left in the the tank. Moving on proven talent with a couple of draft picks will not only help this year but the coming years. Just my thoughts.

Lol – Sterling Shepard, Tez and whoever else they have? Maybe good enough to start for Cleveland or either NY team. But playoff teams? Hell no. They’re 4th and below on the depth chart for a reason. Nobodies.
If they stand pat and go one and done again (or worse) they can’t then blame injuries when you could have done something about it, but decided not to.
McMillan isn’t coming back this year.
Godwin likely isn’t, either and even if he does he hasn’t looked good anyway.
Evans is done till at least the playoffs.
Ebuka is far from 100% himself.
But yeah, we’re good.
There’s multiple things to fix – OL, WR, Pass Rush and LB and it looks like no effort to do so is coming.

Because you’re in the offices listening in on the calls….
Takes two teams to make a trade. We can offer all we want, if the other side says no, what do we do? Tell them “Yeah, but this guy on JoeBucsFan says we have to make a trade”?
November 4th, 2025 at 1:53 pm
Btw, Jackson
I get your point that hey.. maybe he did try. But.. I’m watching Very Affordable deals crossing the lines out there and None were out of reasonable range. Licht hasn’t been flexible enough if he wouldn’t go as far as the others paid to trade.
Or maybe nobody wants to trade with him without fleecing him. Who knows.
In any case… It would have been Wise to add depth for the receiving department.
WE SURE NEED IT!
But it’s probably too late for a trade by now anyways. Then again, there are two hours left. I sure hope Jason uses those hours wisely…
Thanks for the back and forth. As you can tell, I was using your comment in a spirited way. No hard feelings. Making a STRONG POINT. There really is No guaranteed tomorrow’s. It’s now or never in the NFL

Maybe just maybe Licht knows more about the Bucs personnel than all of you armchair General Managers. Whether Licht pulls off a trade or not probably says more about whether or not he believes the Bucs have a legitimate chance to win the Super Bowl this year. He knows who is really going to come back from injury and play and who is not. If he doesn’t make a trade then chances are the price is too steep or he doesn’t really believe we have an honest chance to get to the Super Bowl.
November 4th, 2025 at 2:09 pm
Quetin Williams going to Dallas.
November 4th, 2025 at 2:12 pm
Yes, trades are complicated and risky and they can always come back and bite you in the a$$.
But man, Howie does them left and right with no problem. And he usually comes out on the positive side of them. Plus, he’s been doing this for years. Maybe I’m just a tad jealous. He and Licht are similarly skilled at talent evaluation except he’s more of a “no risk, no biscuit” GM.
November 4th, 2025 at 2:13 pm
Bucs are rated the 4th best team in the league-and the 3 teams above us ALL made major moves TO GET BETTER!!!!!!!!
Jason Licht always wants to look like he is the smartest guy in the league by standing pat with HIS GUYS and hoping everything falls into place-that is a loser mentality if I have ever seen one. Bucs have a coverage problem at LB in Sirvocea Dennis and could solve that problem by trading for Jordyn Brooks who is the leading tackler in the NFL which would MAKE US BETTER!!!!! Do your FREAKING JOB Licht and go get Jordyn Brooks……….

>>>>.
You mean draft choices like JTS, Walker, Braswell which I can go on and on. You play for today. Next year could have worse injuries, you never know.
I guarantee if Bucs play Seattle again with the addition to the receiver corp, Bucs will get beat. Bowles said you beat people by scoring more points, the last two games show the Bucs are failing to light up the score board. I have little faith in Godwin, Evans and McMillan all making it back to change that. Bucky will help but not enough
November 4th, 2025 at 2:25 pm
When other playoff teams are getting better, the Bucs stand still.
Fire Jason Licht
Fire Todd Bowles
The Bucs are not going to make the playoffs.
What a waste of a season. Typical Bucs fans drinking the Kool Aid. Maybe Next Year, oh the injuries,
Wish there was something we could do in the next hour to make the team better NOW. I guess the NFL only allows 31 teams to make a move at the trade deadline.
This team is run by idiots

Jackson Power Johnson that’s who they should trade for and bolster the Offensive Line and wait to get our WR and RB back. That would be the smart move especially with how good our offensive line coach is.

November 4th, 2025 at 2:38 pm
If Goedeke, Godwin, & Bucky are coming back within 2 weeks then they don’t need to add on the offense. I would not have given up two draft picks for Jakobi Myers. We already have Sterling Shepherd. Same thing.
Give up Reddic in a second round pick for Myles Garrett or Trey Hendrickson or maybe something for Bradley Chubb
November 4th, 2025 at 2:45 pm
I bet they don’t make any moves. They will finish out the year with what they have. If Godwin doesn’t come back this year or if he does and doesn’t return to form I bet they do an injury settlement in the off season. I could also see Evans gone this off season and David retiring. Going to need to draft a WR, LB and Edge rusher this April.
November 4th, 2025 at 2:45 pm
Jordyn Brooks Jason!!! Come on man!!
November 4th, 2025 at 2:46 pm

November 4th, 2025 at 2:47 pm
OMG @ some of you people 🤣
Not happy with your (supposedly) favorite team leading the division, and tied for the conference lead at the halfway point?
In case you haven’t noticed, Jason and Todd are the only reason we haven’t had fire sales ourselves, and multiple losing seasons post Brady.

All these articles and conversations about trades when we all know deep inside that Licht WILL NOT trade away draft picks. All these years we have seen that a trade is highly unlikely.
In my opinion a move (or a couple) is needed if the team wants to have a legitimate chance to advance in the Playoffs.
Jones the edge from Titans went to the Ravens for a 6th. Is a 6th so important?
Also for the fans that think a trade for a rental player for a 3rd or a 4th is not worth it. If the player can help you it is worth it. Plus the Bucs will get a compensatory pick the following year.
The team has potential but also has a lot of injuries. A move could help.
But I never expected one. We all know Licjts history.
Go Bucs
November 4th, 2025 at 3:21 pm
This is such a weird statistic about in-season acquisition receivers. The Bucs need a starting right guard and that’s really it. Unless they also wanted to upgrade linebacker. The only critical thing is really a guard.
November 4th, 2025 at 3:35 pm
Is a player who can be had for a 6th going to help us?
November 4th, 2025 at 3:37 pm

Never heard an intelligent person refer to someone else as “low IQ”, only true dumba$#es talk like that…. Don’t tell me, you aced the test that identified common animals like elephant + giraffe 🤣
And we’re tied for the NFC lead…. Does the whole NFC suk ?
Lastly, nobody is ignoring problems we have, some of us just don’t think we know more than the professionals about how to fix the problems. They’ve done a masterful job of rebuilding while being deep in debt and remaining competitive. But, of course, they should abandon their plan for that of the brilliant posters in the comment section here. Makes sense to me 😉

Worst GM in the NFL. Practically nothing to show for his efforts.
People thinks Licht is so special because we’ve finish 1st in the NFCS a record number of years, have the longest playoff streak in the NFC, have more draft picks starting than any team, picked up TB12/Gronk/AB/Suh/JPP/4Net, and we’ve won a Super Bowl … but what has he really besides those few things?
He can’t even make a meaningless trade midseason that jeopardizes our future.
He’s done nothing else. He’s Hot Garbage. We need to hire some you guys to replace him. You sound so much smarter.

Imagine that. Licht didn’t listen to a single jbf crybaby today. Guarantee he never even read your posts or cared.
