Rams Seem To Like Big Plays
November 22nd, 2025The Rams like the big play. Or at least, they like successful plays. The Bucs like giving up big plays.
So that’s a really, really bad formula for Sunday night’s game in Tinseltown.
The Rams, who may be the hottest team in the league with the hottest quarterback in the league (Matt Stafford) — with a coach known as Todd Bowles’ kryptonite (Sean McVay), rank No. 2 in the NFL in successful plays.
What are successful plays? When a team gets at least 40 percent of the necessary yards to convert on first downs, 60 percent on second downs and 100 percent on third or fourth downs.
(Just for comparison sake, the Bucs are No. 23 in the NFL in this category.)
Now, compare that to how the Bucs’ defense is playing. The last 10 touchdowns the Bucs’ defense has allowed (all after the bye, all in the past two games) have come from an average of 33 yards out.
Average!
Joe finds that simply appalling.
And that’s mostly with one of the league’s top corners, Jamel Dean, on the field. Dean is ruled out (bad hip) for Sunday night.
At bare minimum, the Bucs must cut down these explosive plays. There’s no way the Bucs can beat the Rams in their own crib if they are allowing five touchdowns a game from outside the red zone.
Hell, the Bucs might not survive coughing up five touchdowns from anywhere on the field.

The Rams love big plays and our D lives to give up big plays.
Sounds like a match made in football hell.
We’re prob gonna get boatraced in this one.

No worries. If Godwin plays he will score at least 5 tds. That might be just enough to loose by10. I wonder how Diaby really feels chasing faster receivers for no reason. It’s having a bad boss that has you do work your not skilled for then you get embarrassed in front of the whole world looking all slow. Ahhh yes go Bowles with your silly defenseive strategies!
November 22nd, 2025 at 1:28 am
They’re gonna love us.
November 22nd, 2025 at 4:08 am
Well Joe, look on the bright side. At least our red zone defense isn’t ranked as bad when people are scoring from outside of it all the time.
November 22nd, 2025 at 4:42 am
The stats are frustrating for sure.
The sports media are hyping up Stafford, McVay, and the Rams now. I remember when Cousins, Raheem, and the Falcons were getting that hype too until they were not. It’s all okay. It’s time for the Bucs to have a win and it could be Sunday night. Go Bucs!

Joe … ‘The last 10 touchdowns the Bucs’ defense has allowed (all after the bye, all in the past two games) have come from an average of 33 yards out.’
You’re not the only one who finds that simply appalling Joe. Yes they were 2 very good offenses (Patriots #7 and Bills #5) but both games were winnable IMO IF our defense had just played average defense. It didn’t; it surrendered 72 friggin points in a total of only 52:28 of time on the field … just over 25 minutes average per game. Our offense won the TOP in both games, but our defense would have none of it.
How does that even happen? To ANY team? Well, it involves really sucking in Run Defense AND Pass Defense …
1 – Pats’ Williams 72-yd passing TD
2 – Pats’ Henderson 55-yd rushing TD
3 – Pats’ Henderson 69-yd rushing TD
4 – Bills’ Shavers 43-yd passing TD
5 – Bills’ Johnson 52-yd passing TD
6 – Bills’ Cook 25-yd passing TD
That’s not even counting the OTHER explosive runs & passes that contributed to OTHER TDs in those 2 games. There were MAJOR breakdowns in who’s supposed to be where & who’s supposed to do what. Some of us call that ‘scheme’ but it doesn’t matter what you call it, it was unprofessional. No more excuses; if certain guys can’t do the job, try someone else. Can’t reward sloppy play like that.

The Patriots exposed the Bucs coaching staff and the rest of the league took the cue.
Rams in a blowout.
November 22nd, 2025 at 5:24 am
DR – Holy cow on your additional stat facts. The Bucs did hold Cook back this game though. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough. We could have won that game. Especially after the Bills just lost again.
mg- My gut says it won’t be a blow-out. With the time difference of 3 hours, it will still feel like 5:30 our time which is good. It could be close.
November 22nd, 2025 at 5:36 am
Remain calm. All is well. All is well!
November 22nd, 2025 at 5:40 am
The offense is on its 4th coordinator, the last two being grabbed for head coaching positions.
I’m still waiting for someone to show interest in the defensive staff.
November 22nd, 2025 at 5:54 am
“Defense needs to show up.” Hahahahaha!!
November 22nd, 2025 at 6:05 am
Not sure of the reasoning behind singling out McVay as Bowels kryptonite. I mean what NFL coach isn’t? Even Raheem Morris out coaches Bowels.
There are a lot of factors going against the Bucs in this matchup, from the objective (Rams are superior with respect to their record and offensive/defensive stats) to the subjective (prime time cross country road game). The opposing coach knowing how to use and abuse a Bowels defense? That is a recurring theme for nearly every game.

If anybody wants to make money tomorrow, take the over on whatever Puka’s receptions line is. I hope I’m wrong but I have a bad feeling he is absolutely gonna single handily destroy us. 15+ receptions is a real possibility folks. I’m sure Bowels will have Braswell cover him at some point.
November 22nd, 2025 at 6:13 am
I could be wrong, but it feels like a number of the younger guys lost their focus during total vacation bye week. Just another bad decision by the HC.
November 22nd, 2025 at 6:16 am
Death, taxes, and Jamal Dean missing game action due to injury. It’s inevitable.
November 22nd, 2025 at 7:47 am
I don’t remember the last time I felt this certain we were going to lose a game. Is Dirk Koetter running this team again?
November 22nd, 2025 at 8:09 am
This is an important game for Bowles job. He has to shock the world, and prove to the Glazers he can beat a top team in prime time. If he can’t, it’s time to find a HC who can.
November 22nd, 2025 at 8:13 am
TB will have a great game plan, step 1 drop YaYa in coverage on a WR
Step 2 drop Vita in coverage on a TE
Step 3 make strange confused face on sideline as the Rams put up 38+

Whatever Tampa is paying Winfield Jr., they should try to claw back most of it. Watching the many long runs given up by the Bucs, the one constant is Winfield Jr, trying to catch up.
November 22nd, 2025 at 8:28 am
We have the one guy that can’t do the main job. His responsibility is coaching the team. And by his decision coaching the disgusting defense. Time to try someone else. Fire Bowles at the end of the season.

Maybe that is because he is the only one not loafing.

An ugly route. Might start drinking again.
November 22nd, 2025 at 8:39 am
How did Dean hurt himself in TWO PLAYS?
November 22nd, 2025 at 8:54 am
Give Larry Foote a chance to call defensive plays. He called one or two games in the preseason and I think the defense was much better. His pass rush calls were effective with edge guys really getting off the ball. Obviously, it was preseason.
If Bowles gets kicked to the curb, and other teams showing interest in Foote, the Bucs need to look at Foote for DC.
November 22nd, 2025 at 9:11 am
They also like blowing it on 3rd down.
2/11 vs the Seahawks. They are human, D needs to show up
November 22nd, 2025 at 9:53 am
Boy do I have some good news for them regarding the defense they’re playing on Sunday night.
November 22nd, 2025 at 9:56 am
the defence is offensive
November 22nd, 2025 at 11:43 am
The Rams do like big plays. Like the one that cost us a Super Bowl when Bowles was the defensive coordinator. Promote that man to head coach!!!!
I hope this isn’t going to be a hard game to watch.
November 22nd, 2025 at 2:41 pm
Bowles always losses big games in prime time.
Plus, his defense has never been worse than it is right now.
Add an OC in over his head and ST coach that must be blind.
Top it off with a GM incapable of drafting edge rushers.
Perhaps the Glazers need to sell the team.
November 22nd, 2025 at 5:37 pm
Let’s play Bowles Bloodbath Bingo (again)!
November 22nd, 2025 at 9:23 pm
Todd Blowes is a LOSER.
