“No Timetable” On Bucky Irving, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans

November 10th, 2025

Another high-profile ESPN report on the status of injured Buccaneers has been torpedoed by the team.

Joe wrote last month about ESPN insider Adam Schefter reporting the Bucs lost two starting offensive linemen for the season. They didn’t. And fellow ESPN personality and former Buccaneer Booger McFarland made it rather clear that right tackle Luke Goedeke was done for the season. He wasn’t.

Well, last week, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN went on the TV airwaves and said the Bucs believe receiver Chris Godwin will be back on the field late this month or in early December after he would attempt to practice last Friday.

Today, head coach Todd Bowles was asked point blank on SiriusXM Radio about timetables for the statuses of Godwin, Mike Evans and Bucky Irving and their prospects for returning.

Bowles put any thoughts of that on ice.

“No, no timetable at this time. But, you know, as time goes on and guys get better, we’ll see. But right now, no timetable,” Bowles said.

The mystery surrounding Bucs injuries this season has been maddening. What’s wrong with Godwin’s leg is anyone’s guess. Irving is about to miss his sixth consecutive game with a bye week in between and the Bucs don’t know if he can handle one hit to his shoulder, but he wasn’t placed on injured reserve.

As for Jalen McMillan, Joe broke the news here about his broken neck after other local media types kept spouting a bunch of nonsense about McMillan’s imminent return. (Joe never shared such a thought).

For today, Joe’s just focused on being happy Goedeke played Sunday and looked damn good for a guy who missed two months.

  1. Beeej Says:

I’m trying to understand exactly what they mean by Godwin’s fibula problem. As far as I know, bones are either broken or they’re fractured or they’re not. I’m sure what other condition of bones can have?

  2. TampaBayBucFan Says:

The real problem isn’t Evans, Godwin, Bucky…..its Baker Mayfield…

He has not even tried to run one time in the last 2 or 3 games….and we’ve had a buy.

You can’t tell me that teams are spying him and that has stopped him. And if they are, somebody is open and we haven’t been hitting them. Our screens have been stuffed.

Baker is hurt….and hurt to where he doesn’t wan to run…..his ability to pick up yards is a huge reason for our early wins.

    Something is wrong, folks.

  3. TampaBayBucFan Says:

    had a bye….

  4. Football one Says:

Well Joe as I said earlier today, who knows. Godwin may well be done for the year J Mac too. Unfortunately one has to wonder if Godwin may need to retire. I believe it is starting to look that way. He is going on two years now. That does not bode well. I am starting to believe the Bucs season is done. Yes sure hope I am wrong> Thety don’t have the weapons with no help in the near future. Again we may win the division by default.

  5. I Remember 21 Says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we should be fined for our opaqueness when it comes to injuries. It’s been happening for YEARS (ie Jensen). I’m not saying they’ve got to give the media or fans MRI scans or something, but they are supposed to give accurate assessments of what kind of injury and a general timeline a player is dealing with. The NFL are the ones that wanted that gambling money. I don’t get what kind of huge competitive advantage they think they’re getting anyhow. Nobody is shaking in their boots to have to play against Godwin, Bucky, or Reddick. They’re good NFL players, there’s lots of good NFL players in the NFL. We’re trying to surprise 1 random team? A-HA Bucky’s playing this week, SURPRISE! Give me a break!

  7. Smarter than Joe Says:

I’m not gonna get on Baker for not running, he’s the only one out there playing with any heart or want to

The O-line looks so much worse than last year. Barton get’s pushed around more than a 1st round center should. Now Bredeson is hurt, after awhile you just put your hands up and say the injuries are too much to overcome. Good teams with great coaches can overcome the injuries but the Bucs don’t have good coaching.

If Licht doesn’t have buyers remorse about re signing Godwin he should have an MRI

Godwin is washed, Bucs just paid for his kids college and padding Godwin’s 401k

  8. Truth be Told Says:

Yes, Why was Bucky not put on IR-and boy did they make a mistake re-signing damaged goods Godwin. Loyalty to a Fault on that one. Go Bucs!

  9. Joe Sea Says:

If they’re operating within NFL rules what is their incentive to disclose more than this?

I want to know more, but if there is even a 1% advantage they get from not saying anything, why wouldn’t they do it?

They’re going to face annoying (from their POV) questions from the media RE injuries no matter how much info they give.

Are they breaking NFL rules? If not, we can’t expect them to offer more info.

  10. BucsfaninOregon Says:

Nothing new here. Bucs put out senseless drivel and nobody checks back or asks WTF. Same as our Fed govt.

  11. unbelievable Says:

Baker’s oblique injury is obviously a lot worse than they’ve let on…

And Baker’s scrambling ability has obviously masked some serious o-line deficiencies. Even with more guys getting healthy, our backup guards are matadors. But last year Baker and Bucky both helped hide some warts on the o-line.

As for this year, check out the Bucs record:
when Mayfield scrambles for positive yards: 5-1
when Mayfield doesn’t scramble for anything: 1-2

  12. ElioT Says:

Team literally fell apart and they’ve managed to overachieve.

They just don’t have the horses to make a real push for the Dance.

  13. BucU Says:

This organization is a mess. I can see why the offense is sputtered with long term injuries to WR1,WR2, WR3, RG1, and RB1. So somebody tell me why Todd Bowles defense sucks so bad? Another pathetic performance from Bowles, his staff and the players.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I don’t fault Baker at all for not running….simply making the point. We all know he would if he could…the fact that he isn’t speaks volumes.

  15. #99 the big fella Says:

The real problem is not addressing the problem at the trade deadline. Absolutely no excuse. Jason light let his pride of hitting on draft picks get in the way.

  16. Rick Says:

Biggest issue is the WR room. No team can afford to lose both Evans and McMillan plus Godwin. You are keeping #4 and #5WR who can play special teams and return kicks etc. Sterling Shepard has done a nice job, but he’s not going to be a top 3 WR on many NFL Teams. We are asking him to be a #2. If just Evans can return, it should make a huge difference, and he will return. Nevermind McMillan and Godwin hopefully can get healthy at some point. People shouldnt give up on the Bucs, nobody has the depth to lose so many players and just play next man up.

  17. dmatt Says:

    Agree to disagree:
1.Otton is below average. Am I the only one to notice when he caught a pass on 2nd n 10 he fell to the ground near the defender n was not touched immediately by the defender but never once attempted to roll over for at least 1 or two additional yards before being touched while on the ground. He never seemed to have a sense of urgency to gain more yards. And, he dropped a pass during crunch time.

2.Why is Logan Hall still in the league?

    3. Starting wr should be EE n TJ n not Sterling Shepard. TJ has good hands, can get open in space, knows when to go down n is a smart player.

3.Baker is trying to mask an injury. He was on fire 4 games ago mainly because he used his legs but as of last few games he does the cha cha sacked in the pocket n his passes or either overthrown, underthrown, or behind the receiver.

    4. Can’t let Todd slide with lack of clock management. It was evident that the Bucs move the ball down the field with ease during no huddle. We were behind in late third quarter n Bucs offense seemed content with Patriots lead until as usual, 3-4 minutes trailing 4th quarter then they have somewhat a sense of urgency. Mike Vrabel had a plan n that is to prove he can outcoach Todd Bowles. Vrabel is from the tree of Bellichick, Parcell, play to win n aggressively while Todd Bowles has the philosophy of a Tony Dungy n Lovie Smith, play conservative ball.

  18. Jehzsa Says:

I keep thinking that Godwin’s reported fibula injury involves both tibia and fibula fractures. It’s rare, but you can fracture either your tibia or your fibula without breaking the other. If both, and acute rather than stress, it can be more than a two-month recovery and it most probably required surgery.

Good news is team insurance takes care of his pay. But given the team’s investment in him, he is not going to be rushed into service. To do so would be a fool’s errand.

  19. Warrenfb12 Says:

I have to lol anytime someone talks about “when they get healthy.” I think at this point it’s a safe assumption guys like Mike and Chris are not sure things.

  20. Simeon4HOF Says:

Injury secrets been got old .. more bs

  21. Simeon4HOF Says:

Not cool Bucs .. all the deliberate mystery not cool at all

  22. Simeon4HOF Says:

It’s on this tip that nonchalant Todd is blood boiling unnerving

  23. nate1976 Says:

maybe Todd should take over calling plays for offense like Dan Cambell did 44 points I bet that lit a fire under their O.C

  24. BuccinBaker6, Says:

Tampabay Fan said it correctly Baker is hurt an his scram in long was a huge reason for early season success

  25. unbelievable Says:

I just don’t understand how our “3rd down specialist” from last year could call such horrendous 3rd down plays all game long? Joe(s) really need to dig into this.

Like, it’s been 3 games in a row of both good and bad teams blowing up our screen passes that go behind the LOS. Over and over and over. We’ve either lost yards or maybe eeked out a 2 yard gain.

Yet yesterday, Grizzard called those types of plays repeatedly when it’s 3rd and 9, 3rd and 11, etc., despite the fact that they already had not been working all game long.

  26. unbelievable Says:

^ And each time, Baker throws it to our RB or WR, and there is not a single person in front of him blocking. Blows my mind watching that stupidity take place.

  27. HopetheBucswin Says:

So we have seen this 3x now. when 1 qb takes antidepressants, qb 2 gets divorced and takes time off during training camp and loses 15, qb 3 gets beaten up and start taking pain meds, seems their brains can’t process fast enough for the qb position. Just speculating. All 3 just seemed a little off. Just enough to not see open receivers, stare down receivers, over throw, make poor decisions. Or is it all the coaches fault? Go Bowles, our genius defensive head coach!

  28. FortMyersDave Says:

It is irresponsible that Bucky and Godwin were not placed on the IR to bring in a couple more players on the active roster. I am not sure why Jason did not trade for help either. It is not like each of his picks are home 8runs, look at Braswell, a bust, Logan Hall a bust…. We are talking a day 3 pick to, not a day 2 pick. Jason must think the team cannot win this year, the NFC version of the Steelers, fast start and then stumble to 9 or 10 wins with Bowles keeping everything conservative. Could Bowles be telling Grizzard to go vanilla on play calling as well? It is in Todd’s DNA to play not to lose. Why not go no huddle more often?

  29. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Guys relax!!!!! If it was life or death Baker would risk his injured body and run run run,,, Bucs are -800 to win division and get a home playoff game ,,, right now it’s not life or death ,,, got to play the long game

  30. StucBuc Says:

I’m done with this nonsense. Not going or watching another game. This is complete bs.

  31. Hodad Says:

    The Cavalry isn’t coming

  32. Bobby Says:

Ok no Bucky for the season. Sean Tucker’s opportunity of his career is right here. Go get it Sean!!

  33. buc4evr Says:

I doubt Godwin or Evans return this year. Evans will probably retire and Godwin will never be the same. That’s why Jason should have picked up another vet WR last week.

My guess is the Bucky is a lot worse than Todd is going to admit and for that matter Baker is also playing hurt. As far as JMac who knows. Some of these guys should have been placed on IR and Jason should have traded for some players.

As it is, this team is falling apart. Not sure I can even watch the next two games, knowing how decimated this team is and how pathetic Tood and Grizz are. The good news is no one will be hiring our OC as a HC next season. lol.

  34. adam from ny Says:

If Bucky can’t take a hit on the shoulder, he’s done for the year…

No shoulder on a running back doesn’t exactly work…

And why has Barton been looking like a scrub almost overnight…why

  35. Bojim Says:

All of them out till the playoffs. And who knows if even that is the case. I still feel really about JMac.

  36. Conte Piscatelli Says:

So basically they aren’t obligated to give updates and really make sure they are healthy before we try and run them out there. If we can get into the playoffs without them and get them back for the playoffs that would be a nice boost

  37. Bucs Reality Check Says:

    CHANGE THE NFL RULES!

Teams should be forced to have more transparency over injuries. This is terrible for the FANS, the customers of the NFL, for them not to know the real situation with their favorite teams’ players.

For any player not practicing anyway, what’s the harm to the team to not be transparent about what their injury is or when they might be expected back?

    THIS IS ABSURD.

We never even heard the details of what Ryan Jensen’s injury even was for months from what I recall. That makes ZERO sense. That doesn’t give the Bucs any sort of advantage. All it does is anger the fans that want to know what’s actually going on.

  38. ShakeandBaker Says:

I think Jason saw the writing on the wall. Too many injuries to make a real playoff run this year. Didn’t want to waste draft picks for a season where they may be able to limp into the playoffs and be quickly bounced in the first round. No trade was going to be enough to turn this sinking ship around. Sucks too because for the first few games I thought the SB was a real possibility.

  39. Gofortheface30 Says:

We need to redo Godwins contract. To add another 3 yrs for 100 million GUARANTEED

  40. Bartow Buc Says:

Hogwash ……… the Bucs won the 2021 Super Bowl as a wild card team with an 11-6 record !! This is all about coming back from a loss and winning one game at a time !! Just like the Bucs did after the loss to the Eagles !! They defeated the Seahawks and then the 49ers !!
No one gave our Buccaneers a chance against the Seahawks but they found a way to win. Hopefully they find a way to defeat the Bills and then the Rams !!
    We have to believe!!

Go Bucs !! Beat the Bills !!

  41. Les Says:

TEAM IS A MESS ,FROM INJURY TP COACHING , ALL AROUND ! JASON LIGHT NEEDS TO TAKE SOME HEAT TO. I WAS REALLY HOPING TO SEE J MAC. LIGHT IT UP THIS YEAR .DAMN PITTSBURG , ! PANTHERS ARE GOING TO TAKE THE DIVISION .SORRY. NOT SORRY . TO LOSES CONING UP .TRAM IS A MESS .

  42. OLD SCHOOL 1976 Says:

Anyone considering that the run game is suffering due to Evans and Godwin out?
Pretty sure Shepard and Tez are not quite the blockers ME CG are especially in the screen game

  43. Rod Munch Says:

Didn’t we hear the same thing about Goedeke not even 10 days ago? Hopefully it’s some sort of stupid misdirection garbage, enough though it literally gives zero competitive edge.

But if this is true, why wasn’t Bucky and Godwin put on IR? Seriously, people need to be fired over this. The stupid medical staff isn’t responsible for all the injuries happening, that’s the NFLPA and their nonsense practice rules getting guys hurt – but estimating return windows, understanding how to get people back in a certain timeframe, that is literally the job of the medical staff – and the team not putting guys on IR means the medical staff is doing a terrible job either knowing what is going on, or estimating injury timelines. You must get new doctors in there tomorrow to start working with guys, and you can keep the old docs around for the moment, but they need to be relegated to the backburner until they’re all fired.

  44. firethecannons Says:

I agree with Rod Munch, this is ridiculous, these guys should of been on IR. Heh Joe perhaps you could ask Bucky or Godwin if you see them in the locker room after a game. Ask them specifically what is wrong with them and what time frame are we looking at. what hurdles have to made–those kind of questions. 😀

  45. SenileSenior Says:

People are all over the place with their comments. Finger pointing and the blame game.

Yes all of the early hype about the Super Bowl was premature. I am not going to blame Baker, Todd or Jason. Sometimes sh ..uh, stuff just happens.

    Go Bucs!

  46. Saskbucs Says:

    Bucky is back for LA
Godwin is back for NO (?) first division game in stretch run week 14.

Evans and Kancey are back 2nd or 3rd week of Jan. Round 1 or 2 of playoffs.

    JMac – no clue.

You heard it here first 🙂

  47. Rod Munch Says:

    Saskbucs Says:

    Bucky is back for LA

    ——–

If true, don’t bother. The Bucs, playing in LA in prime time, that game is a 100% Jimmy the Greek lock of the week loss. Seriously I’d be OK with benching all the starters in that game, the Bucs never ever win that game, not in prime time – and it’s going to be a blowout loss anyways, so just keep guys healthy. Then after that game, pretty sure we’ll be 6-5, but then the schedule gets way easier, should finally start getting guys back, and should be on quite the run going into the playoffs.

Between then and now, the dramaqueens will be out in full effect to tell us every week about it being nothing but doom and gloom – until the Bucs win a game, at which point they’ll say the Bucs are winning the super bowl and you’re just a hater if you don’t think Baker is the best QB to have ever played the game.

  48. Rod Munch Says:

    SenileSenior Says:
Yes all of the early hype about the Super Bowl was premature.

    ———-

Humm, when I was mocking people for getting excited about winning the week 6 power poll, and pointing out how chanting MVP in week 6 never works out well, the low IQ dopes in here claimed I hated the team, I hated Baker, and if you didn’t think they were going to the Super Bowl, you’re an idiot.

Now those same dopes are the ones saying the season is over, fire everyone, why even play the rest of the year.

Literally the dumbest of the dumbest.

Winning the week 6 power poll means nothing, and losing to a now 8-2 Patriots team by a single score when the injury report looks how it looks, it’s not a season ender. The Bucs health is going to decide on what happens – they just need to stay in contention for a playoff spot until we get guys back. If healthy, the Bucs I think pretty easily win yesterday – and that is what should give us some hope. But if all these guys are out and not coming back, then yeah, at that point, season is over, it’s just too much to overcome. But I do not think that is the case, Bucky will be back, Godwin will be back, pretty sure Evans will be back, hopefully Ben Bredeson is back – and I know the dopes out there thing Reddick sucks, but he doesn’t and the Bucs need him back, Nelson was a liability yesterday.

  49. Oxycondomns Says:

2 teams that made trades for edge rushers showing off their defenses as henderson runs for another long td

  50. Kenton Smith Says:

Fibula talk. The fibula is attached to the ankle socket. The ankle that was turned 180 degrees. Remember? A fracture and a dislocation. Took two surgeries. So far. I’m not mad we paid CG. Not even a little bit. If he’s playing next year and the next he’s earning his money. Thinking he’ll be back this year. Yesterday Baker fired a pass to Egbuka to the right and the pass was short while Emeka was wide open in front of deep zone. Rookie is good but the hole between layers of the zone was huge. Baker saw Egbuka and the giant opening and throws to it but Egbuka was a step late. Baker had a dude already hitting him. Godwin would have been there. In the NFL you have a nanosecond to get a spot because usually the QB wants to get rid of it now. Can’t coach alot of what some of these receivers can do. Getting open in the NFL is not about speed alone. Awareness of defenses and the speed which the QB must throw and just alot of game time situations. Chris Godwin is one of the best possession receivers in the league and when he heals watch out. Reddick needs to get back and Bredeson has been the cornerstone of our offensive line, whether at center or guard, this entire season. What’s going on with Reddick? Top 10 in pressures when he got hurt. More importantly he is a damn good football player.

  51. ChiBuc Says:

Trade deadline, schmade deadline. Who needs to make any moves when we can “bank” on mystery returns.

    Godwin is Jensen 2.0

  52. Saskbucs Says:

    Whoa whoa Rod Munch.

I’ve seen the Bucs win plenty in LA over the last 10 years. Perhaps not in primetime… but I am certainly not chalking that one up as a loss. Especially if the Bucs lose at Buffalo. Then the chorus of “we suck” gets loud and that’s when the Bucs play a good game.

The OL is strong enough to slow the Rams front. Stafford can’t run so as long as Bowles doesn’t blitz non stop with off coverage… Rams is a winnable game. Beat the 49ers and Seahawks… could be more of the same.

  53. ChiBuc Says:

Does anyone really believe getting a player who hasn’t played in months for the playoff will add that much? Do you honestly think if Kancey limps back for a playoff game that his snap count will allow him to dominatea playoff team? Well let me tell you about a magical land with licorice slides and candy cane ladders…

  54. Roscoe Says:

    Two questions:
    1. Is the arrow pointing up or is the arrow pointing down ?

    2. How many times have we heard Coach Bowles say “We gotta coach it better” or “I gotta coach it better” and it never seems to happen ?

  55. David Says:

    2020-
    Buccaneers 6–2
    Four games later…
    Buccaneers 7–5

Won their last four in a row and ran through the playoffs to win the Super Bowl.

Everyone needs to relax, there are plenty of games left with key players returning.

If they had to the Cardinals game, a little healthier and at 7–4, they will be in great shape

  56. FortMyersDave Says:

Les, put down the crack pipe and quit posting in CAPS. The Panthers lost to the Aints at home by 10, the same team that the Bucs beat by 20 in the Big Sleazy. If you are going to troll at least bring something to the table with you, not a bunch of drunken gibberish.

    Whoa whoa Rod Munch.

I’ve seen the Bucs win plenty in LA over the last 10 years

    =====

I’m only talking about the Rams, not the Chargers.

Vs the Rams, the only victory on the road vs them in the last 15 years was Winston hanging 55 points on them in 2019. The Bucs did beat the Rams at home in 2022 – barely, but both of those victories are the only two times they’ve beat the Rams since 2010, going 2-8 vs the Rams during that stretch – including the playoffs.

There’s just some teams where the Bucs matchup poorly for whatever reason – and this is one of them.

BTW, if the Bucs were playing Buffalo in Tampa, I’d 100% be certain of victory as the Bucs own the Bills in Tampa. It’s like the Rams thing, just in reverse. BTW, the Bucs have never won in Buffalo, going 0-3, which is surprising that in 50 years they’ve only played in Buffalo 3 times – while playing 10 times in Tampa (where the Bucs are 8-2, and some very bad Bucs teams have beaten very good Bills in that time).

  58. B Says:

All of this is was expected, save McMillan, no? Baker gets beat up from playing too aggressively. Evans pulls hamstrings and is aging. Godwin has serious injury history and is aging. Bucky is too small for the amount of carries he gets. They stacked wins early and we have a chance to once again limp to a weak NFC south champ playoff birth. We are on “realistic course scenario” as planned if you ask me. Just depends on how deep the inevitable defensive spiral goes as teams put together this years version of overly aggressive blitz packages.

  59. Daryl Green Says:

    Saskbucs you’re wrong 🤙🏾

I’m telling you, and I said this before the bye,we are not beating the rams.
It will be the eagles vs. the rams. Bank on it

  60. Cchead Says:

Broke shoulder, broken leg, broken collar bone and a broken neck. They may not be back at all this year a d the Bucs said, we’re good at the trade deadline. Smh.

  61. BucU Says:

I have zero expectations with this team going forward. We were sold a bill of goods being told we should expect Godwin and Bucky back after the bye. That was a lie.

  62. ChiBuc Says:

Godwin is done….dead cap space. Guarantee Kancey becomes the next on the shelf big ticket item. Let’s review Dean, Jensen, AWJ, Goedeke, Reddick all saw a production drop and/or injured after the fat paycheck

  63. BakerFan Says:

With all the injuries with no decision to play in sight the Bucs NOT SO BRIGHT LICHT decided to hold onto draft choices and not get help at Receiver, LB or EDGE. That game on Sunday disgusted me so much that I did not want to even look at JoesBucs for a few days.

  64. Saskbucs Says:

You guys saying I’m wrong. I value your opinion as Bucs fans and I very well could be wrong but obviously none of us know.

Just like the Seahawks and 49ers (I think if I remember) Rams will be coming off an intense divisional game this week.

At this point I only lean losses the next 2 weeks because of the health of our offense. We could lose by 20 or win by 10 each of these next 2 weeks. Who shows up? Who gets a lucky bounce? Which coach has a great gameplan and gets the upper hand?

  65. George Says:

This is just the beginning my friends
This defensive and offensive debacle has just
Begun. Get ready for 6-5 as we will lose these next
2 games as well. If we screwed up so badly against the
Patriots, what do you think is going to happen
When we go to Buffalo and then the Rams??? Grizzard
Is not a good OC. Neither does Bowles Coaching of the defense
Helps this team. We were disgraceful in all three fazes.
Anyone know why they won’t let us know what the hell
Really happened with Godwin? I mean 2 games and he’s basically out for the
Damn season?? $66 million meanwhile Diggs was worth every penny
To New England. If Godwin doesn’t return soon trade him in the off season
We all so what happened to Mike Evans, at least his absence was justified and explained. Godwin and Bucky we all though they would be back after the bye week. 😡😡 This team better start Coaching better or the 6-2 start have been for
Not. How can you not be disappointed after watching the last several games? The worst has yet to come with the stiff competition we face in the next several weeks. Someone please add some Clarity and explain what the hell is going on
With these hush hush injuries! 🤦🏻‍♂️🙄🔨

  66. BucU Says:

We have no reason whatsoever to be confident that we’ll beat Buffalo or LA.

  67. BucsRshyt Says:

Must be such a joke being a bucs fan LOL! Team absolutely stinks and ya’ll just making sorry injury excuses. Poverty franchise hahahahhaha. Should’ve put that plug Bucky on IR
