No Takeaway, No Win?
November 15th, 2025Todd Bowles stresses takeaways like Joe stresses cold beers on a Florida July Friday afternoon.
Bowles is borderline obsessed with takeaways. He’s not as bad as lousy Lovie Smith was, but sometimes, Joe wonders. The big difference is that Bowles doesn’t ignore the rest of his team.
So it wouldn’t be a stretch to suggest the Bucs need to force Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen into a pick or two tomorrow. After reading the following, Joe is of the mind it is a necessity. Per BSPN’s research wing, if Allen doesn’t turn the ball over, it’s pretty much a slam dunk Buffalo wins.
Stat to know: Allen has exactly two turnovers in all three of the Bills’ losses. He has one turnover in their six wins.
So it appears if Allen doesn’t turn the ball over, the Bucs will have to play some heroic defense to pull off a win.
Joe still believes if the Bucs can exploit the soft Buffalo run defense, that keeps Allen on the sidelines. There is no way Allen can make a play if he’s watching on the bench.
Of course, being on the sidelines if the Bucs are running the ball also means Allen has less of a chance to turn the ball over.

Bills 31 Bucs 20. Will never win a SB with Todd at the helm. Dungy Stubborn, Schiano stupid.

If we can’t get turnovers, I’ll settle for not giving up four explosive plays.

Yup noticed yesterday that Bills have 9 total turnovers on the season, and that 8 of them occurred in their 3 losses. They lost the Turnover Differential in each of those 3 losses.
More importantly though, those 3 losses are the only games that neither QB Josh Allen nor RB James Cook scored a TD in. Of course, controlling both of them is a lot harder than it might sound.
I’m also with Hodad about not giving up explosive plays. Bucs’ defense has given up far too many of those and it’s killing us.

Dan agrees with Joe. RUN. THE. DANG. BALL! The weather will not be favorable for the forward pass. A three headed running back monster would be nice. Thank you Josh Williams.

Bucs have a great chance to win, but Baker and the offense needs to more consistent.

We’ll we saw how takeaways can be squandered this past weekend. Takeaways are good, but they don’t mean as much if you cannot turn them into points. Good teams do both, we’re going to need to tighten up and start playing better complimentary ball.
We need that same dedication to the run game we started the Saints game with and be faithful to it, because it seems this Bills D is built for run succes to eventually hit well enough to make a difference.

Bucs had 0 turnovers vs Patriots , but gave up big plays on D and 28 points.
Stop the run and minimize big plays on D to get the win.
Turnovers will be a bonus.
On offense, the run game should be fine, but Mayfield showed a tendency the last game to lock in on certain receivers on certain plays and bailed out of pocket too fast and missed opportunities for open receivers- if he fixes that, Bucs offense should score 30 points.
They have the talent- just execute!

Mid season slump is here. Surprized if we win.

baker has done his part in terms of picks compared to last year. the bucs turnover ratio is tied for second after a slower start thanks to skinny dean.
i agree though, if you get the ball away from the other offense you have to turn it in to points. would be good if zyon could grab something tomorrow, or anyone really.

Hoping for takeaways and turnovers, Bucs win. Bills have some injuries too. The only thing is that we are playing there and Bills mafia is loud, even outside. Tucker and White need to be moving and grooving. Go Bucs!

OH my, these next 2 weeks will be hard to watch!!. Facts are the Bucs could get blown out this week and next week. Yes the only small hope is the injuries that Buffalo has rival the Bucs. However, they are at home and Josh Allen can beat you with his feet. Then we have that little issue in the middle of the field and well poor play at the mlb position is an understatement. Buffalo while weak against the run will have little fear of the pass, so they will put all their cards on stopping the run. I am sorry but , yes after last week admit I am pretty pesamistic on this team currently. Yes it does seem we always have that multiple loss time each season and I think we are there now.
We are hearing each weak how the team is flat . That explanation can only last so long. The facts are just to many injuries and we are short a few players at key positions.
