NFL.com: Miami In Selling Mode

November 2nd, 2025

Is he buying?

Could the Bucs use edge rusher Jaelan Phillips? Is the Pope a White Sox fan?

Depending how motivated Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht is, Phillips might be available.

Joe speculated that after Dolphins strongman Stephen Ross shoved overmatched general manager Chris Grier out the door Friday, the Dolphins appeared to be preparing for a firesale.

Ian Rapoport seems to agree. The NFL.com insider doesn’t know how cheap Dolphins players will be, but without Grier, who spurned inquirers about trading players, the Dolphins are now taking calls about making deals.

And the Dolphins are open to dealing Phillips.

Miami also has received significant interest in their edge rushers, with Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb receiving the most interest. Matt Judon is a player who could be traded, as well.

Phillips is on his fifth-year rookie option, and teams would have to pay the rest of his $13.25 million salary for this year. That’s different from Chubb, who is due $11 million plus incentives this year, though Miami has already paid $7.445 million of that in a signing bonus. Chubb is also on the books for $43.5 million for 2026 and 2027. Both have value (Phillips is younger, Chubb is cheaper).

Expect Miami to make at least one trade prior to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, but it could be more.

Joe is not against Phillips if he is cheaper, but damn, how cool would it be to land Bradley Chubb?

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler predicts Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht is likely to hold his cards and sit out the trade deadline, which is 4 p.m. Tuesday. But how cool would it be if Licht shocks the world and parts with a draft pick for either Chubb or Phillips?

Licht’s too cocky to make a deal. He’s all hopped up on draft pick genius tales.

  2. UGotRobbed Says:

Both have a history of injuries 😏 would be nice if we could add an iron man or two!

  3. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

Yeah Phillips will be good, we need a good pass coverage linebacker.

  4. buc4evr Says:

Both Phillips and Judon. That would send a clear message that this team wants to go to the SB this year. Would Jason make that trade? I kind of doubt it…🤬

  5. Chuckys Bucs Says:

If there’s one guy to get its Zach Sieler.

  6. sethery Says:

they just drafted a guard second round this year and he’s starting. could we get one of their vet guards for very little? they have several decent guys. or package one in with an edge or coverage linebacker?

obviously waddle and/or phillips or inside linebacker help would be great but I don’t see the bucs doing that. I think they’re high on dennis, nelson, braswell and the receiving room (whether that actually comes to fruition we will see). But I think we’re in dire need of o-line depth. haggard, heck, feeny and the other michael jordan are doing alright, but there is no way this team makes a deep run if we can’t get any offense going. I think our depth elsewhere is good enough to bide time but imo the o-line needs one more solid piece.

  7. Kayla Says:

This isn’t MLB. Most teams NFL never trade their best players no matter how bad the teams is playing that season. They trade you their underachievers and problems to take off their hands and salary cap.

  8. Bucccnasty Says:

When you’re hitting 5 out of 6 picks in a draft class, even mid round picks are gold. Honestly what’s crazy is if David Walker doesn’t get hurt in camp, Licht may have hit every one of his picks which idk if that’s even been done before… and David Walker was the one who they were really hyped about lol. I’d love one of those edge rushers or even an ILB from Miami but at the cost of not being able to pay one of our guys in the coming years or a 4th/5th round pick idk.. let’s just keep chugging along as is and get healthy for January so we can make some noise with what we got

  9. Marine Buc Says:

With Evans, Godwin and McMillan all missing time due to injuries I would only be interested in trading for Waddle…

Keep in mind – Egbuka ia also struggling with injuries. Tez Johnson is tiny (160 lbs). Shep is old and K. Johnson missed all last year with an injury.

If the Bucs want to win at least one play-off game this season then Waddle is who we should trade for.

  10. orlbucfan Says:

I don’t think Licht will bite. I agree with @Kayla. No way will Miami trade its best players. Let’s play the final 9 games and see how our young guys and Grizzard do.

  11. Pmike Says:

    Go get Waddle!

  12. Beeej Says:

Jaelan Phillips’ numbers are only mildly better than Reddick’s

  13. Lightningvinny1 Says:

    I agree , Waddle for a 5th

  14. StAugBuc Says:

Waddle does make sense. One of the 3 (Godwin, Evans, Mcmillan) likely not with the team next year.

  15. BrianBucs Says:

Bucs had better check out the WR market as they don’t know when/if Evans, Godwin or McMillian will be back this year

  16. Yeahmetoo Says:

Chances are with this depleted offensive roster the last half of this season
Is not likely to to go like the first half did. Realistically 10-7 or 11-6 is how this
Year will finish. Probably enough to win the south. But who would they beat
In the playoffs? Licht isnt going to trade. Making the playoffs and winning
The division ensures his and bowels job are safe. So he isnt going to mortgage
Off any mid round draft picks for next year.

  17. Glass Half Full Guy Says:

I’m on the Waddle bandwagon. Godwin is going to be questionable at best the rest of the season. ME13 is done until at least the post season and considering his 1000 yard streak is over, that’s one more check mark in the “Maybe I should retire” column for him. How is MacMillan going to be (mentally) after recovering from broken bone(s) in his neck? Will he put his future health at risk to play again? It seems like he will, but our once-flush WR Room suddenly looks bleak. Will CG14 ever return to his former self? You could argue that he was a step off his game last season before the ankle injury.

I’m always in favor of getting a PROVEN player in exchange for a draft pick (or 2) since picks are essentially lotto tickets with a less than 30% chance of paying off at all, and even less of that pick being as good as the proven player. Yeah, the draft pick will be cheaper because of their rookie contract, but that’s a poor excuse.

That said, it’s been a while since JL has made a splash in-seasaon trade and I doubt he does so now. As others have said, he’s a great GM but kind of thinks his current guys will eventually pan out even though many haven’t (Trask, JTS, OJ Howard, etc).

Hell, I’d love to see one of the two “sack masters” on the Bengals or Browns come to town, but our offense seems like a bigger need. Meanwhile, we can dream about Miles Garrett, Hendrickson or Maxx Crosby donning the Pewter and Red because it’ll never happen.

  18. Nano107 Says:

    Chubb

  19. MadMax Says:

Brooks please or go after Logan Wilson in cinci

  20. JC Bigornia Says:

With all the stories of Mayfield being beat up and continuous o-line injuries, I say guard if available. I saw a story suggesting Jackson Powers-Johnson if the Raiders are willing. Even though they just drafted him last year he’s on the bench

  21. BucsfaninOregon Says:

Standing pat is stupid! Even a 3rd rounder is not too much for a proven player of need for the Bucs. Waddle would be an example. A 4th or 5th pick is a totally rational for someone that could that could stay and contribute for the next several years. For those of you that think Leicht is a wizard with automatic picks for good players, please remind yourself of JTS, Braswell, etc. gone for high draft picks. Leicht is good at the draft, but he is far from perfect. But, I predict he’ll pass and we will likely get bounced out in the first round.

  22. Mort Says:

Come on, Jason, give me a Chubb!

  23. Winny Testaverde Says:

Trade 4 Trey and his expiring contract…or stand pat. These Dolphin defenders are underwhelming for the price tag moving forward.

  24. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I agree with those who are not impressed with the Dollfans defensive players that may be available. I thought I liked the idea of J Waddle, but we should keep him bc of what it will cost to get him and how much money do you want to spend on WR nex year? That would be WAY TOO MUCH for one group of players. Get a cheap veteran
    WR

  25. eoschwartz Says:

Howie Roseman of the Eagles is t standing still with one Super Bowl he is continuing to be aggressively adding pieces. The Bucs are down some important pieces at WR, OL and edge. You can’t fill all 3 but get one or two new players for later round draft picks. Don’t count on your injury prone e players to fill these important holes. Do your job Jason we need some pieces to fill out this opportunity to go to the Super

  26. BPBucsfan Says:

Howie is definitely probably the best GM in the league. Always aggressive and adding pieces. Their mindset is “winning isn’t everything, it’s the ONLY thing. We’re content to keep our draft picks and win the south.

  27. Brian in FL Says:

I seem to be in the rare minority that wants us to just stand pat, develop what we have and focus on getting healthy. The way Licht et al have drafted over the last handful of seasons I’m content on building and maintaining through the draft. I’m not anti-trade per se if an outrageous deal comes to us, but I’m very content moving forward as is.

  28. Chuckys Bucs Says:

You can’t bring a receiver in mid season. Name one time that’s happened and worked out. Chubb and Phillips are injury prone.

  29. Rod Munch Says:

From what I’ve read about Bradley Chubb, he’s just getting a bunch of garbage stats, otherwise is very middling. I haven’t watched his tape so I don’t know, but that would be worrying. Then again his price tag should be very cheap, might only be a 6-7 pick swap. Jaelan Phillips is a lot more interesting, much more of a talent, also has good numbers throughout his career when healthy – but if he’s actually good why would the Dolphins want to get rid of a 25-year edge rusher? Even in a rebuild, that’s not something you get rid of if they have talent.

  30. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Jaelan Phillips has 3 sack on the year. No. We do not need him. He only had one sack all last year. If he is an edge rusher, he’s a bad one.

  31. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Bradley Chubb has more potential, depending on the asking price.

People around here seem to think trading is just something that needs to happen every year. We don’t need to trade unless it is a great value.

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

We can risk not trading for a WR this year. Rotate some young guys off the street and see if any stick. We do not need an elite WR every time. We just need reliable guys.

Mike Evans might retire. Chris Godwin will be back…whether he is still good remains to be seen (called that one from the beginning). I hope he returns to form, because him an EE would be great.

But do not rule out the young guys and Otton. We still have enough to win a ring…especially since playing time is helping them get better and better.

OL might be worth trading for. That’s what we really need. Maybe a solid Center do our current one can play a different spot.

Would be nice in Cody could return at some point.

  33. David Says:

I would definitely be happy with either one
