Myles Garrett And The Bucs

November 3rd, 2025

As often is the case in the NFL, but certainly not always, the massive contract dropped in March on future Hall of Fame edge rusher Myles Garrett, the four-time All-Pro, is no longer a scary-looking deal.

Garrett has 10 sacks this season and there’s again rampant speculation that his bumbling and crumbling Browns would be willing to trade the fourth-highest paid pass rusher in the league behind Micah Parsons, Aidan Hutchinson and T.J. Watt.

Last week, the reliable contract website Spotrac.com dropped the X post below. It explains how a team acquiring Garrett by trade would have to accommodate him under their salary cap.

The pain comes in 2029 and 2030.

Would it be worth it for a Bucs team that feels it ow has an MVP quarterback and stellar position in the NFC standings?

Joe thinks Bucs fans would understand screwing up the 2029 and 2030 salary caps for a much better shot at winning it big this season and next. Joe’s not sure what the Garrett ransom would be, and of course that’s the critical question. Garrett turns 30 in December.

At this point, with the trade deadline arriving Tuesday afternoon, Joe hopes the Bucs are at least strongly considering a major move.

  1. Joe Sea Says:

I’ve read a lot about how 31 is the age of fall off for edge guys typically. We’re going to decimate our cap and trade (probably a lot of) draft picks for like 2/3 years of play? IDK, doesn’t seem like a Licht thing. After the Egbuka pick, I’m just going to trust what Licht does here

  2. Jerseybuc Says:

    Kidding me. Absolutely do it!!
Eagles traded for Philips. I know he’s often hurt but good when he’s out there.
Jason make a move bro!!! Team is good enough

  3. First Last Says:

No he is a locker room cancer and didnt get along with Baker. Plus our offense is cooked with multiple starters on IR (Godwin might as well be)

  4. Dom Says:

I’m sure Myles Garrett would love to get another 5 sacks vs the Patriots lol

  5. MadMax Says:

Jordan Brooks or Logan Wilson would be a lot cheaper.

  6. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

Lol. No thank you. Get Chubb if you want a defensive end.

  7. Upstate NY BUC Says:

We better do it before Detroit or Philly or the Rams Do it, because you know its coming!!! Go Bucs111

  8. Buckybucs Says:

He is NOT getting traded, he shouldn’t have signed that extension.

  9. Down Under Says:

hahaahahaha, what are things that won’t happen for 500 Pat

  10. ModHairKen Says:

The man swung his helmet and attempted to hit the QB in the head.

He’s expensive. The cap hit will be felt for too long. And come on, 10 sacks this year but he’s in one game? Three games with zero.

He’s not the answer. And he may screw up the locker room.

  11. Roscoe Says:

    NO

  12. Godlovesbucs Says:

35 and 36 years old counting at 57 mill? Nope.

  13. Usfbucs Says:

There are a ton of other players who would improve our roster for what we would have to give up for him.

  14. Usfbucs Says:

We should make a move just not this one.

  15. 813BUCBOI Says:

MG95 or Oline help are the only things that make sense!!!

    unfortunately, neither are happenin’ lol….

would love for JL to get MG95 but we’re a homegrown talent organization!!!

    hold fast!!!

    6-2!!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  16. buc4evr Says:

Jason probably won’t do anything. He would rather protect his draft picks than get to the SB.

  17. Cosmo Says:

Egbuka is great, and is solid evidence for the case of not trading away draft picks. But this right here is Miles Garrett.

Imagine we’re in a close competitive game, say with the Patriots, that seems relevant for some reason right now… and Miles Garrett gets 5 sacks alone.

I think we win that game 95% of the time.

Our offense is solid enough, even with out our receiving core and o-line. With a Miles Garrett, Todd Bowles blitzes will be even more effective. You can’t block Garrett, Vea, and Winfield coming on the late blitz out of nowhere. If Winfield misses, Garrett is forcing a fumble two frames later.

Losing in the Divisional Round? I don’t see this team doing that if we have Miles Garrett. Garrett is a legit Super Bowl piece.

    – Cosmo (formerly Doug RR Martin RIP)

  18. John Sinclear Says:

Are you KIDDING me? He turns 30 in Dec. He will turn 34 in Dec., 2029 and 35 in Dec., 2030! And you want to blow $57 Million each of those years? Maybe you should get the AD job at LSU. That guy likes to spend other people’s money too!

  19. Mike Johnson Says:

Garrett is a Beast to say the least. But at what price? He completely changes the entire dynamic of our Defense and Defensive Line. He does not care about a championship. The man cares about getting paid. Can’t hate him for that in this brutal game.

  20. DBS Says:

So who was the GM when we won our last SB? So Licht doesn’t have a clue what to do.

  21. Nicholas Carlson Says:

Absolutely worth it. Instantly the best player on the team.

  22. Pmike Says:

Nice. Let’s sign this guy. Then re sign baker in the offseason and have no money left to be competitive in 2026-2030…. Brilliant

  23. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    “I need a hero

I’m holding out for a hero til the end of the night
    he’s gotta be strong
    and he’s gotta be fast
and he’s gotta be fresh from the fight”

  24. Ufc Says:

Ya man hates winning so much he won’t come out of a game trying to win
Put him on a winning team and watch

  25. 813BUCBOI Says:

would love to get garrett but it aint happening!!!!

    6-2!!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  26. Ugotrobbed Says:

No! Not for the kings ransom that the Brown’s are sure to ask!

  27. Todd Says:

Hard Pass-Jordyn Brooks LB is a much bigger position of need and at average 8.75 mil per year through 2026 he is quite the steal. Brooks is also only 28 and in the prime of his career.

  28. BucU Says:

We could’ve used Godwin’s 22 Mil/Yr for someone that would actually play football. He’s 29 going on 45. Absolutely a bad signing that negates any chance of upgrading the roster now.

  29. Todd Says:

Bucs have over 16 mil available in cap room so there is no reason not to sign Jordyn Brooks.

  30. BucsFan81 Says:

Nope not worth it. Probably need to be sellers and get some of these injury prone players we have off the team so we can go heavy on the draft next year with the young players we have.

  31. Statisticly Insignificant Reader Says:

Signing 30 years olds is risky at best. PASS

  32. TampaBayBucFan Says:

So…..Myles Garrett, Aiden Hutcheson & Micah Parsons’ teams all lost this weekend……

    Let’s take a pass…..save the money and draft picks….in Licht TBBF trusts….

  33. Bosch Says:

    Too expensive and too old.

  34. BakerFan Says:

    Nope, not this one.

  35. Aqualung Says:

    Dirt is dirt

  36. JustOneGame Says:

It’s amazing listening to people that are willing to give up a kings ransom for a dude on a 2-6 team. If anything it shows you that when a team over pays for one player they lack the resources to build the rest of the team. As fans, if we landed Garrett and won the Super Bowl this year, we would be happy for now. But, in two years those same fans would b!tch when the team is 2-6 and not competitive because they now lack the resources to build out the entire roster.

Also, there’s no guarantee any player traded for doesn’t tear an ACL next week

  37. Buddha Says:

No, don’t do it! This is not our season. We don’t make the playoffs

  38. Kenton Smith Says:

TBBF, I agree. Garrett is a star who’s won 1 playoff game in his 9th year in the league. That is because Baker Mayfield was his QB. I wouldn’t let him in our locker room if he paid us. One word describes his career. Loser. I’ve heard him talk about how much money he’s worth a dozen times. I’ve never once heard Mayfield talk about how much money he’s worth. Some guys play for the money. Some guys play to win and put their teammates first. We’ve got a bunch of those guys.

  39. heyjude Says:

No, it would be a rental that we really don’t need. Our defense is doing well.

If we are making a wish list, how about Jaylen Waddle?

  40. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

Phillips for a third rd? I dont understand why JL wouldnt do it? I understand we have a moron for HC but still he could have given us a major boost.

  41. CleanHouse Says:

Get both Garrett and Hendrickson to go with Vita and Kancey, shift back to a 4-3,
It’s better and that would be unstoppable when healthy.

Mortgage the future- fun to watch

  42. Dtownva Says:

How does the Bucs’ philosophy of creating a family environment, where players leave contract money on the table for the good of the team, jive with paying top dollar for a mercenary? If Garrett is willing to accept a significant cut to join a selfless team, sure, sign him. I’m not holding my breath.

  43. Joseph C Simmons Says:

They JUST RE-SIGNED HIM. This is not going to happen and it’s a waste of internet space to talk about it.

  44. Two thumbs up Says:

Licht has put together a Super Bowl caliber team on paper. He’s done a great job. Injuries are always the great unknown which can totally disrupt the best laid plans. He signs Reddick who is a big disappointment. MG is on his last big contract, on the decline by age, has very little incentive to be a monster player with such a huge contract with loads of guaranteed money, and not a good fit in the locker room. This would be a very poor decision to mortgage the future with this guy. He’s one knee/hamstring/pec you name it injury away from making it a monumental mistake.

  45. 813BUCBOI Says:

folks blaming blwoes for Licht not signing anyone lol….

bowles is also to blame for winter being cold lol

    6-2!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  46. Kayla Says:

NO WAY! Keep the picks, protect the cap! The Buc are no longer one or two guys away from the SB, they’re too injured this year to realistically think about that. Plan for a run in 2026.

  47. Allen Lofton Says:

This ain’t happening- he would be 35-36 in 2030. FORGET IT

  48. gbobucsfan Says:

Eagles got Phillips for a 3rd…..there’s some deals to be made out there!!

  49. Gotti-Dog-05-20-84 Says:

He is now and always has been a very egocentric player……very hard pass

  50. Kenton Smith Says:

Kayla. Plan for a run in 2026. Kayla, do you know how dumb that sounds? No? I didn’t think you would.

  51. Buc1987 Says:

    Allen Lofton Says:

“This ain’t happening- he would be 35-36 in 2030. FORGET IT”

All I care about is can he play at a high level in 2025?

  52. matthew a veal Says:

was the keyshawn deal worth it? we did get a super bowl

  53. matthew a veal Says:

same for brady, super bowl for cap hell. only the eagles and kc seem to avoid it

  54. Bantry Says:

Go back and check Garrett’s stats in the playoffs and similar big games. He is more often than not a no show.

  55. GoneGator Says:

We have needs greater than high priced edge rusher.

If a dominant edge guy meant better odds of success (w/l) then Cleveland, NY giants, Raiders, Bengals etc etc wouldn’t be circling the drain year after year.

  56. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Browns yes but not MG , get their RG,,,,
I say Brooks and Waddle for a 3rd or a second

  57. unbelievable Says:

    Never gonna happen.

Licht prefers his own draft picks, even if they are not as good. Even if it means missing a shot at the SB.

I like Licht a lot, but one of his few bad traits is being too loyal to his own picks.

  58. Whatevs Says:

Eagles are adding talent to get another SB RING. Bucs are standing still to get another NFC south Championship.

The Jason Licht era will be defined by being average and getting lucky one year by signing TB12.

Loser Franchise. Not going to sniff the SB this year if we don’t add some talent.

Last chance to make the Bucs better this year. What will Jason do?

  59. RVATom Says:

I remember one of you Joes blowing up for Reddick when he was holding out with the Eagles. Garrett is fantastic. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

  60. Down Under Says:

Trade for Jalen Waddle current receivers suck and can’t get open except for Ebucka

  61. unbelievable Says:

    – Ignoring our edge rush

    – Ignoring ILB depth

    – Ignoring o-line depth

    – Ignoring WR depth

But yeah guys, they’re like totally super serious about trying to win a SB 🙄

  62. buc4evr Says:

Not Garrett, but there were ( are) others players the Bucs sign.

  63. BuucccNASTY Says:

Rams traded for Von Miller in 2021, a trade I wanted the Bucs to make, and Rams ended up besting us in the divisional round and going all the way. I truly still believe to this day that with Von Miller our team goes all the way… A true game wrecker like Myles Garrett could potentially be that missing peice to put us over the top…

  64. MelvinJunior Says:

So, Colin Cowherd just said that IF the Eagles lose Phillips to FA at the end of the season and does not re-sign him, then they get BACK a 3rd-Round Comp. Pick. Do WHAT!? Are you FREAKIN Kidding-ME!? So, they gave-up their LATE 3rd for HIM (a first-round talent), and the very WORST they can do is pick-up ANOTHER late 3rd!? Unbelievable. Now, THERE is a smart FO that uses their heads. Crazy if true.

  65. MelvinJunior Says:

So, they got him for NOTHING!? That doesn’t even make any sense. SURELY, the Dolphins got back an additional 5th, or SOMETHING!?:/ Can’t be right!?

  66. Whatevs Says:

Cmon guys. Jason can’t part ways with any day three picks.

Where are all the misfit toys going to be drafted?

    Injury plagued skills guys
    Small college undersized linemen
Dudes whose dads played with/for Todd
Future pro-bowlers like Braswell, JTS, Sirracha Dennis, and Trask need to feel love. They are good guys that need to be drafted. No Dawgs on this team. Jason and Todd can’t handle the drama.

  67. buc4evr Says:

Don’t worry SVD will become an all pro in the next three games. Allen has no chance of running outside on SVD, lol. Look at what Goff and Gibbs did to the guy. Think Stafford is afraid of the Bucs LBs. He just rolls out finds a target in the middle of the field. Sorry SVD is going to get owned, the guy is not very good. This team has no chance to make the SB without help. I guess Jason will have a good time finding overlooked rookies in the 5th round next year. One and done this year yet again.

  68. White Tiger Says:

Agree with a lot of posters here: this doesn’t sound like something Licht would do.

I’ll bet Licht makes zero trades, unless he can find a cheap 1 year rental for an EDGE and/or an o-lineman.

However, to his mind, he’s already gambled on one of those with Hasaan Reddick – which has been a failed experiment at this point.

Feels like we’re – once again – going to see what we can accomplish with our current roster. I HATE it – but I’m not getting my hopes up.

  69. Buc2Blame Says:

I wish this franchise was bold like ghat I really really do.

  70. David Says:

Younger and better than trey Hendrickson. Would give up Reddick and a 2nd for either.

Would have to restructure or void 2029 & 2030 part of his salary but otherwise good deal through the 2028 season.
Trey would need to be re-signed after this year.

  71. BuccaDAWG Says:

I say NO to Garrett I know hes a talent but too expensive in cap money not to mention salary cap room. If we do trade get one of the younger guys or Chubb. But I trust Jason to pick up a talented player ie Oboka & most all this years draft class, let’s get healthy & see where i goes .

  72. Ted Says:

Garrett will be traded to Philly, The Bills or the Rams. They don’t have high priced QB’s to consider…oh never mind.

  73. Kysbucs18 Says:

Never going to happen but I would give up Kancey and a 1st, 3rd for Garrett. With Roberts playing the way he has been that wouldn’t hurt too much. Bucs can draft DTs…..but drafting Edge … not so much.

  74. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

    buc4evr Says:
Jason probably won’t do anything. He would rather protect his draft picks than get to the SB.
    —————————————————————————————

Jason absolutely wants to get to the SB, and more importantly, the Glazers do!
And if the roster he build this past offseason was healthy, including Kancey and Walker, we’d have a legitimate chance to get there.

But, JL wants to be competitive EVERY season, with a chance to get to the SB, like the Patriots were for many years. But when half of your players on offense along with a couple key players on defense are injured, an attempt to fix that via trades are like dealing with the devil. Trading for Garrett is not a guarantee that we’ll get to the SB. But it IS a guarantee that it will make it more difficult to get to the SB in future years when we’re unable to keep some of our core players because of dead salary cap hits. If you want to know what that looks like, ask the GM of the Saints.

  75. DBS Says:

I don’t understand the trade Reddick comments. With his history last year and his tape so far this season who would want him know? Plus now he’s injured.

  76. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

    @BucfanSince1996

Get that logic and big picture mindset out of here, it’s not wanted. We need to make a trade and we need to have made it weeks ago. Somebody, anybody just make the trade for a players that’s not going to score points or get our offense on track so we don’t need to “comeback” to win one possession games.

  77. DBS Says:

    now.

  78. infomeplease Says:

Only happens in Buc fan dreams!!

  79. MelvinJunior Says:

“ Would have to restructure or void 2029 & 2030 part of his salary but otherwise good deal through the 2028 season.
Trey would need to be re-signed after this year.”

WHO’s salary, Dave!? Neither one of those guys are signed past just this season. So, I am not following, at all!? And, Reddick has no value.

  80. Down Under Says:

Bucs going to lose the next 3 games

  81. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

    @Warren Brooks Lynch,

Apparently, you’re not a fan of the big picture mindset, but it’s what enabled Belichick and Brady to acquire six rings with the Patriots.

I’m not opposed to trades, and I’m sure that Licht and his staff have been reaching out to some potential trading partners. But he’s not going to pull the trigger on a deal that MIGHT help them this year and hurt them for many future years to come.

  82. larrd Says:

He is probably the best defensive player in the league. Surefire HOFer. Could reach 20 sacks this year. 50 mill in 2029 will probably be a drop in the bucket.

  83. Dewey Selmon Says:

Apologizes for hijacking the thread but dies ABC comes with hulu Espn? I guess my question is how do i get abc and espn do I puchase espn+ or just hulu?

  84. Stpetematt Says:

Bucs will go 2-1 or better in the next 3 games.

  85. buc4evr Says:

Bucsfansince1996, I said not Garrett in a previous post. Would have at least liked to pick up Phillips for a 3rd round. Philly got him. If he doesn’t work out, Philly gets a 3rd round pick back. Little risk. Why couldn’t Jason have done that.

  86. Todd Says:

Brooks is the LB you want from Miami.

  87. Down Under Says:

Update from One Buc Place, Godwin and Irving both to practice this week

  88. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Apparently, you’re not a fan of the big picture mindset, but it’s what enabled Belichick and Brady to acquire six rings with the Patriots.”

Huge fan actually, I’m just not as clever as 813

  89. Kenton Smith Says:

Down Under. You better not be bull$hitting.

  90. Noclu4u Says:

Nope. Got a huge contract coming up for close to 200 million. Baker about to get paid big big time

  91. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

    —————————————————————————————

If we were one player away from being good enough to win a Super Bowl, I’d be all-in for any trade. If not though, there IS a risk. You have to consider what you’re giving up when you make a trade.

Here’s who Licht drafted in the 3rd round for the past five years:
    2025: Jacob Parrish
2024: The Bucs had two third-round picks – Tykee Smith, DB/S, Georgia (89th overall) and Jalen McMillan
    2023: YaYa Diaby
    2022: Rachaad White
    2021: Robert Hainsey

  92. Wilder32 Says:

I’d rather see a trade for the Browns TE, David Njoku.

  93. Nick jannette Says:

    Get him

  94. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

If Licht felt that we were very close to being the best team in the NFL, he’d go all in and get the players they needed. He did it back in 2020 when Brady came to Tampa. Licht signed Gronk & AB. Then he brought the entire team back the following year.

At the moment, we’ve got so many key players injured. Kancey & Walker are done for the year. Our o-line is a mess. Even Wirfs, who recently recovered from surgery, is not right. He just had his worst game ever as a pro, with no close second. There’s no guarantee that Evans, JMac & Godwin will come back, and if they do, play anywhere close to 100%. We’ve got 9 more regular-season games to go, and there’s no doubt more injuries will happen. If Licht goes and trades for Garrett, that’s not going to fix the team. It’s like a situation where the roof on your home is leaking from five different places. You fix one of the leaks, but you’ve still got four others.

  95. Mobucs Says:

For those who have not experienced being a Browns fan and have appreciated the arrival of Baker Mayfield, may I humbly suggest that the Cleveland roster is not full of pro-bowlers waiting to be rescued. In particular, Garrett is not the defensive equivalent of Baker; there is no defensive equivalent to a quarterback. In fact, I wonder if Garrett ever had a better day than Anthony Nelson. You can talk about adding 15-20 sacks, but that’s not accurate. It assumes that no sacks would have been made by the current players; and spread across a season, it’s only about a sack a game. Garrett is a very good defensive end, an all-pro, I read, in almost half his seasons. But he’s no Reggie White, and he’s running out of seasons.

  96. Aqualung Says:

    Lotsa mushroom soup gettin et.

  97. Buc1987 Says:

As of Monday, November 3, 2025,
neither wide receiver Chris Godwin nor running back Bucky Irving of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is participating in practice. Both players have been ruled out for their upcoming game in Week 10 against the New England Patriots.

  98. MelvinJunior Says:

Garrett might be a drop in the bucket in 2029… IF, he hasn’t already KICKED-IT by then.

  99. MelvinJunior Says:

@ BucsFanSince1996 – those guys got done during the off-season. They weren’t ‘deadline’ moves.

  100. MelvinJunior Says:

Plus, AB was just a FA signing, so they didn’t have to give-up squat. And, Gronk was a sweetheart deal.

  101. MelvinJunior Says:

Saw the other day where ESPN had a bundle deal for just $29.99 per month, and you get ALL the ESPN content, along with I think ABC, Fox Sports, and maybe Disney.

  102. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

    MelvinJunior Says:

Plus, AB was just a FA signing, so they didn’t have to give-up squat. And, Gronk was a sweetheart deal.
    ———————————————————————————

They didn’t have to give up squat? What Licht did during that two year period put them in salary cap hell that they’re just now climbing out of.

I’m sure every fan, player, coach and the Bucs front office will agree that the price was worth it. And I believe Licht would do the same today if he thought we were in the same situation, but we’re not. We’re running out of bodies and we’ve got 9 more regular season games to play.

Licht would only trade for Garrett if he believed that that would put the team in the position to get to the SB. But we’re more than one player away. Licht would have to trade away many of his 2026 draft picks to get the help needed for help in the WR room, on the O-line, and elsewhere.

  103. SteveK Says:

This trade would give us a 25% greeter chance at a Super Bowl. He’s the best.

  104. Oxycondomns Says:

every year edge rusher is a need . licht tried using high picks on jts and braswell. he needs to break the cycle of the team not reaching its potential due to the edge rushers.

  105. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

I’d be screaming from the top of my lungs for Licht to sign Garrett, no matter the cost, IF that would put us over the top. But we’re more than one player away, and it’s our offense that really needs the most help right now.

I’m most concerned about Wirfs after the way he played against the Saints. He has never played as badly as he did that game. Something was clearly wrong. I have no idea if it is an issue that will persist for the rest of the season, but if it is, that’s a serious issue for the o-line.

  106. Larrd Says:

Garrett arguably had as good a day as Nelson last week. Five sacks. He is a Superman, physically and will likely nab 50 sacks in the next five years. If the corners can stay healthy, I think he’d make the Bucs defense elite.

Yes, I would probably trade Parrish, MacMillan, Diaby, White and Hainsey for Garrett, if given the chance. One seems like a standout at nickle for however long that might last but two may never play for the Bucs again and the other two are pretty average and fairly easy to replace. That’s what draft picks are like.

  107. eoschwartz Says:

Get that linebacker from Miami. We need tacklers. We also need WR and OL. Any for rent? No to Garrett or Waddle.

  108. Deuceswild78 Says:

Give me lb depth… if all goes to plan we’ll be getting back 4 pro bowlers by the end of the regular season

  109. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

    Larrd Says:
Yes, I would probably trade Parrish, MacMillan, Diaby, White and Hainsey for Garrett, if given the chance.
    ——————————————————————————–

You’ll have to obtain the cooperation of the Jacksonville Jaguars to pull off that trade. Hainsey plays for them.

  110. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Hard Pass!

Five of those ten sacks came in the most recent game.

At age 30 (Dec), he’s not a good investment. Outside of last game (which they lost against the Pats), his sack numbers were not great and have declined.

So, heres the thing…regular ABC tv shows are on HULU. However, as of 2026, Disney is shutting down Hulu and moving their content to Disney+. Disney does own ABC, so there is a good chance they’ll have access, but…Disney will have to renegotiate with other networks they do not ow…like NBC and others. Disney also owns FOX…but not Fox Sports.

I don’t know if Disney-side Hulu will offer live tv like current Hulu does.

Just stop. Ingest something to make yourselves happy.
