Most Bucs Fans Getting What They Expected

November 24th, 2025

Members of Team Glazer huddle with Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht before last night’s game.

The Joe typing here isn’t swallowing all the prevailing Bucs gloom and doom whole.

Why? Because it feels fraudulent.

Don’t get confused. The Bucs played heartless, checked-out football last night in a big primetime game. It was revolting and worthy of scorn, fury and a loss of fans’ trust.

However, to be shocked by what was witnessed does not make a lot of sense. Heck, Joe predicted a convincing Rams win. And to stray so far from one’s season assessment doesn’t feel fair.

Joe is referring to how fans considered this Tampa Bay season three months ago. That’s exactly when Joe polled fans to ask how many wins they expected in the 2025 campaign. Those August 23 poll results are shown in the graphic below.

An 11-win season was the most popular choice. And Joe would wager a lot of money that most fans that projected the team to have 11 wins figured the Bucs would have a 6-5 record after losing to the Rams last night. And that is the Bucs’ current record.

A cool 28 percent of fans picked the Bucs to win 10 or fewer games.

The remaining 32 percent of fans expected a big season, picking 12 or more wins. For those fans, Joe knows their hopes and dreams were crushed completely last night. And Joe feels terribly for you.

Yes, the Bucs played like a horrid, direction-less football team last night. This is a morbid Monday. But the schedule says the team is on track to win 11 games whether your brain lets you go there or not.

If Teddy Bridgewater starts at quarterback Sunday for injured Baker Mayfield, Joe expects the Bucs to beat the floundering three-win Cardinals and their backup QB. Joe has little faith in Bridgewater after seeing him look non-competitive last night, but smart people chose him over Kyle Trask and many others, so Bridgewater deserves a clean slate and a week of practice as the top dog — if he’s needed.

The fog is thick, but the sky hasn’t fallen.

  1. StormyInFl Says:

It’s not the record – it’s how they lost.

Coaching blunders in the NE and Buffalo games – the same kind we’ve seen since Bowles was gifted the job.

A total no show game against the Rams – also a movie Bucs fans have seen before (Kirk Cousins….).

It’s obvious this coaching staff isn’t good. Top to bottom.

  2. RagingBrisket Says:

I would be shocked if they win 3 more games. Free fall…

  3. Ufcguy197 Says:

I think we lose every game at this point.

  4. Kayla Says:

If the defense continues to play as they’re playing (and there’s no reason to think they won’t) NO game is considered easy or even winnable. No way they win 11. Cashed easy free money from taking the Rams and laying the points. Definitely taking Arizona this week as the shock of not having Baker smacks them in the face.

  5. Todd Says:

You are just flat wrong. Once an engine seizes it takes major repairs to get it started and we have neither the mechanic nor the parts to get that done.

  6. 813bucboi Says:

“Don’t talk about – playoffs?! You kiddin’ me? Playoffs?! I just hope we can win a game!

    Jim Mora

    GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Marine Buc Says:

Don’t worry Buc fans – Todd Bowles will be back next season to continue guiding this team to another mediocre season in the weakest division in the NFL.

    What a joke.

  8. Bucs West Coast Says:

Teddy is a super nice awesome guy.

He looked like he was doing a walk through last night. No urgency, no fight, no sense of let’s do this.

It was almost like he was told, don’t let anyone else get hurt and we’ll regroup next week. We can’t just leave now we have to put on a show for a little bit longer.

  9. Alanbucsfan Says:

The opening drive , the Bucs were successful running the ball and then Grizzard calls a stupid deep ball to a double covered Egbuka which led to a 3rd and long and killed the drive. Then he mixed in some stupid sideline behind the line of scrimmage passes that fooled no one, then he took out a successful Tucker and put in the less effective White –
The play calling had no flow except for the first 6 or 7 plays – inept offensive game plan

  10. Rod Stewart Says:

They COULD still make the playoffs but that’ll be a butt whooping and another first round exit. Even when healthy I don’t have a ton of faith in this team mainly because of the defense just constantly getting gashed for.big plays.

  11. #99 the big fella Says:

I would be shocked if we win any more games this year

  12. Baking with Grizz Says:

I don’t get the drama here. It was expected. I was surprised the Rams didn’t score 50 on us. They spared us the huge embarrassment.

    All is as predicted 6-5

Now starts the road to the playoffs. What makes it foggy is Baker’s injury.

In the past 3 games we got ataste of the lost decade. With Baker injured the promising season might become the lost season. Let’s see what this team is made of.

    LFG!!!!!

  13. Curse of Gruden Says:

Hire Lane Kiffen before it’s too late.

  14. CChead Says:

Brissett will throw for 400 yards and 3 td’s against this putrid defense. And with the Oline play, Bridgewater will be sacked multiple times and be lucky to finish the game.

  15. Bubby Says:

No chance we get to 11 wins. I blame Ira for going on mad dog sports radio lastcweek. He said Bucs qbs don’t get hurt. I could feel the end of our little run.

  16. bucnjim Says:

I believe everyone was thinking the Offense would continue to do well and the defense even if slightly improved would lead the Bucs to 11 wins. Not really sure how the D is worse than last year and the injuries have completely stalled our offense. Doesn’t look good for digging their way out of this whole. Although they’ve done it late every year.

  17. Smarter than Joe Says:

6 full seasons and 11 games into a 7th in charge of the defense here is what fans can expect from Todd Blows cover no one scheme

    15th in yards allowed
    26th in pass yards allowed
    9th against the run
    14th in Points Allowed

They will always be middle of the pack in points allowed and yards allowed

    Top 10 against the run

    Bottom 10 against the pass

9 or 10 wins is Todd Blows ceiling as a defensive coordinator/coach

  18. BigZ Says:

With or without Bake there’s zero chance they win 11 games. Im shocked this guy wrote this story. Do you watch football? Yes, Joe watches Bucs football and a lot more. –Joe They squeaked by four games earlier this season. Good teams squeak by all the time. Do you watch football? –Joe They were ok against a rebuild Saints team. Would they beat Seattle or SF now, nope.

What does this team do well? Pass D is one of the worst as is their running game.
Pass rush, nope. Special Teams other than Chase, no. Pass pro, nope.

Problem is JL was saved by BA and Brady. He was on thin ice. Now we see what he was earlier in his GM career, again.

Think about him like this, he can’t even draft or sign a good not great, but good punter.
    A punter…

I thought they would win 10 in the preseason. After the bye, nope. They don’t have Want To. You either have it you don’t. It’s like rythm.

So stop with help is coming, this is who they are as the mask has been removed.

No excuses, it’s the NFL, Not For Long as Jerry G said. Not here though. Glazers are slow to react.

Lastly, it started with the Washington loss last year.

Funny this guy thinks they’ll win 6 in a row.

  19. BucU Says:

This article is as embarrassing as the Bucs performance. Let me clue you in Joe.
This team has CHECKED OUT. I don’t give a $shyt what people thought about what might be the Bucs record before the season.
You say they’re still on track to win 11 games so everything is right on schedule. That pisses me off. Facts can be annoying.–Joe
Once again you ask us to not believe our lying eyes. Nobody asked you to believe anything. –Joe
This team is in major freefall with no end in sight. Todd Bowles has worn out his welcome as has his staff and about 70% of the players on this team. The entire organization ought to be ashamed of themselves. PATHETIC.

  20. BucU Says:

Let’s see if you have the balls to post this. I’m guessing not a chance.

  21. BucaneroJim Says:

Teddy was not expecting to actually play. If he had been 3rd behind Trask, Baker would never come out of the game. Baker would have gone back in with the sling on his arm.

  22. DailyRich Says:

Great, so we win 11 games and lose in the first round *again*.

  23. BucsFan81 Says:

If we lose and the effort is there that is one thing. This team shows no effort or care so that is another problem.

  24. Colonel Angus Says:

Thanks for the injection of Hopium Joe. If Teddy B plays this Sunday we need to run it 30-40 times. I don’t think he can throw it past 10yds. Should have Bucky and hopefully Bredeson back for this game. All 3 backs should have 10+ carries. Win ugly if we have to. Only way Bucs do anything this year is if Offense gets right. Defense looks lost.

  25. BigBucJoe Says:

Smarter than Joe is spot on. The only thing I will add to the mix are his terrible in game decisions and consistent failure to prepare the team for big games. He is an average to below average DC and an incompetent head coach. BigBucJoe has become BitterBucFanJoe.

  26. BigZ Says:

I saw the Lane for HC comment several times and thought it was silly. But now.. I think owners with normal T would have to quickly explore it.

The NFL is designed to score and protect the QB. Lane coaching Bake is interesting.
Lane has moxi and would be refreshing. Lane has coached at all levels, interesting. He also has ties to Florida, the state not the gators, interesting.

I don’t see Lane as JL guy. Lane’s personality would overshadow JL.

  27. Les Says:

Feel like we should lose them all so we can get rid of this coaching staff ! This crap show has been going on for years ! Glazers need to pull the plug ! There father would have !

  28. FootBall1 Says:

Joe, I really must disagree. This team will be lucky to win 9 games. The defense needs to be overhauled and too many people out still on offense. Yes last night was exactly as expected. Yes we will be lucky to end at 9-8. We won’t win the division and definately will not entertain the playoffs. Joe stick a fork in this team they are well done.

  29. Allen Lofton Says:

That poll means nothing right now. It was taken when the Bucs were healthier. Then the injured players from last year year didn’t recoup, then injuries in preseason reared it’s ugly head and then continued to mount thoughout the season.

Without these key players returning the Bucs will be picking high draft picks in 2026. Management and Bowles are expecting most of these players returning in December which is only a few days away.

If Evans, Bucky and McMillan are able to return than the Bucs are a playoff team. How healthy they are will determine how deep they play.

We will know the outcome by the end of December and early playoff games. So far the season hasn’t panned out. But returning key healthy players will hopefully make the Bucs potential Super Bowl contenders. We will know soon in the coming weeks.

Let’s at least keep a positive attitude.

  30. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Replace him today with Larry Foote, at least he has a little Passion and fire!!!! Hire Kiffin, ASAP and D coordinator who knows what the hell is going ON!!!! GO Bucs

  31. BUCDADDY Says:

We WILL NOT win 11 games. This team is way worse than I thought, and it starts with the defense. Bowles should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY. At the half, you don’t even mention your atrocious defense. Instead, you say that the team needs to get more first downs. That’s what entitled losers do. They don’t point out their own shortcomings, and instead, they throw the blame onto other people. Granted, Grizzard is an easy target with his playbook full of screen passes. WOW! So much depth in the playbook. Now, Baker will have to roll out in a wheelchair to play quarterback since our line is SO TERRIBLE. That, and the receivers are NEVER OPEN! So, here we are with Bridgewater in at QB for God knows how long. We will not win 11 games, and now, we won’t even win the dumpster fire south. This is what this organization deserves though. Put stupid people in charge, YOU LOSE!

  32. PSL Bob Says:

I’ve been a Bucs fan since the get go (1976). I’ve watched nearly every game available to me on TV. Last night was the first time EVER I turned off the TV before the game was officially over. And that’s because the game was unofficially over in the first half. It was embarrassing. Everything from coaching to play calling to player performance was embarrassing. And then we lose Baker. That was like pouring alcohol on an open wound. I just couldn’t watch it any more.

  33. Durango 95 Says:

Our research has shown us that fans feeing outrage is not entirely justified because the level of suck witnessed was entirely expected. Hmmm. That’s some fancy city slicker thinking, right there.

  34. Les Says:

A team is a reflection of there coach ., DITKA , LOMBARDY, ETC. FIRE AND WANT TO . I DONT SEE ANY OF IT IN BOWLES . NONE ! LETS START FRESH WITH THE PLAYERS WE HAVE ! HOW MANY TIMES DO THE GLACIER BOYS HAVE TO GET? EMBARRASSED ON NATIONAL TELEVISION BEFORE THEY CAN SEE WHAT’S HAPPENING RIGHT? IN FRONT OF THEIR OWN EYES ? THE FIRE TONY DUNGEE FOR LESS.. THEIR FATHER WANTED TO WIN AND DUNGEE’S DEFENSE WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN TODD BULL’S HE BUILT A GREAT DEFENSE. BULLS AND JASON LIGHT DEFENSE IS HORRIBLE. THIS IS ON THEM.THEY BUILT THIS DEFENSE, THEY DID NOT INHERIT IT.THEY OWN IT, AND IT IS AWFUL.

  35. LFG Bucs Says:

I still believe they can win all the remaining games finishing with 12 wins. All but two maybe 3 of those wins come against a team with a losing record. That means that you couldn’t beat good teams. That doesn’t install any confidence heading into the playoffs regardless of who is healthy. You still have a weak coaching staff. Nothing changes.

  36. Faspro Says:

I predicted 7-10…Letting Coen walk was a huge mistake.

  37. Smashsquatch Says:

Yeah, the injuries are a problem, especially Baker. But I’m growing increasingly concerned about Grizzard’s lack of feel with the play calling. It sure feels like he’s calling things based on analytics alone, and tends to ignore his eyeballs. Several examples over the last few weeks come to mind. Like a corner fade to Shepard inside the 5? He’s short! Running it twenty seven times in a row from the 1? Bubble screens that the opposition sees coming faster than our own team? Why is Tez in motion on seemingly every play? I’d like to see Grizz adjust on the fly faster. “Everybody has a plan until you get punched in the face.” The Bucs have been routinely punched in the face and haven’t yet figured out how to punch back.

  38. Josh Says:

Honestly, I don’t care what this team does for the rest of the regular season. For the first time in my life, I actually hope the Bucs lose to the Panthers so Bowles will finally be fired. I’m worried that if we make the playoffs, he’ll be given every excuse in the book. I’m done. He has literally sucked the joy out of football for me. In 40 years—even during the lost decade—I’ve never felt like I just wanted to stop watching football, but this year is the first.

WONT WATCH ANOTHER BUCS GAME WITH TOILET BOWL AS HEAD COACH!!!

  39. BucsFan2001 Says:

Most of the comments here are centered around the Bucs players having no heart and are just doing a walk through. The early part of the season these same players were fresh and injuries hadn’t started to take it’s toll. First it was the offensive line that went down and then the running backs and receivers, The defense actually kept us in some games albeit against teams with lesser talent. What I saw last night was a team that looked old and tired with no backup players. The offensive line was adequate for run blocking but very poor for pass blocking. The highly paid Wirfs was beaten many times. The defense is starting players that are too slow and old to man cover receivers so you get wide open receivers. Resigning many of these players to max contracts was a mistake

  40. Smarter than Joe Says:

No way this team wins 11

    8 maybe 9

EVERY game will be a struggle with Todd BLOWS scheme and the injuries

COACHING MATTERS and the Bucs are lacking in that category

  41. Les Says:

PANTHERS WILL LEAD THE DIVISION IF THEY WIN. THAT’S NOT SAYING MUCH FOR A WEAK DIVISION. CANALS HAS IMPROVED THAT TEAM. COHEN HAS DEFINITELY IMPROVED THE JAGS. JASON LIGHT ⁸AND THE GLACIER BOYS DROPPED THE BALL WHEN THEY DID NOT MAKE COHEN THE HEAD COACH AFTER A GREAT YEAR THAT HE PROVED HIMSELF. HE HAS ALREADY TURNED THE JAGS AROUND A FLOUNDERING TEAM. AND WE KEEP MISTER EXCITEMENT.

  42. mark2001 Says:

Frankly, I think the Bucs are in as good a position as the Packers to make the playoffs, if not better. They just have to come out on top in a weak division. The Packers have a tougher road to hoe to win their division. You can’t count Detroit out, with all the division games left to play, and who would have thought Bears have a fine record. So don’t despair Buc fans. I’ll still be shocked if the Bucs don’t end up winning the division and being in at least one round of the payoffs.

  43. Hoopstar82 Says:

How can you say they will beat cardinals the cardinals have been in every game and just beat the cowboys if baker is out we lose

  44. Durango 95 Says:

I’m in no frame of mind to justify anything our beloved Bucs put on the field last night. However, I think we may not be getting a good read on what Grizzard’s capabilities are because he has been hamstrung from the beginning due to injury while implementing a new system. He wasn’t helped by that genius idea to play Chinese fire drill with the offensive line to start the season. Factoring in what Todd Bowles knows about offense wouldn’t fill a tea spoon. For a first year OC that’s quite a load.

That’s as much “sunshine” as you’re going to get out of me at the moment.

  45. Kayla Says:

    “Faspro Says:
    November 24th, 2025 at 9:00 am
I predicted 7-10…Letting Coen walk was a huge mistake.” <—– Coen was offered 1 of only 32 NFL head coaching jobs in the entire world. Like he was going to turn that down to stay an OC and may never get that chance again? THINK!

  46. CleanHouse Says:

Sure would be nice having Jameis as QB2

  47. Smarter than Joe Says:

Panthers will lose against 49ers, Rams, Seahawks

Bucs win the division by default

  48. FrontFour Says:

Brighter looked in serious. Not a Trask fan and have always been indifferent to him on our roster. But at least he was interested.

  49. FrontFour Says:

    Bridgwater is unserious.

  50. Mike Johnson Says:

Our Bucs have 6 remaining games in the season. Looking at the easy and mediocre opponents, you would think they could run the table. But sit back and watch them stink it up royally.

  51. It's Corn Says:

These predictions backloaded a lot of wins, but even those look doubtful now, especially with Mayfield out.

Would anyone be completely shocked if this team we have seen since the bye lost all 6 remaining games and finished 6-11?

Even the players that have been healthy enough to come back are not truly healthy.

  52. Hodad Says:

Fans getting what was expected? True, but it’s pretty sad when you go into a game thinking they don’t have chance to win, and do nothing to change the outcome. Doesn’t matter what we fans expected, what did the Glazers expect when they gave Bowles his extension? My guess is they expected a team that wouldn’t quit on national TV!

  53. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Bridgewater and LVD reminded me when we play football in the backyard on Thanksgiving, and we have our 2 Uncles playing along trying to keep up and chase the young kids down, ridiculous!!! Time to retire, Bridgewater looks like a clown out there!!! Go Bucs

  54. Big Red Says:

Predictable result. I still think calling for the coach to be fired is nothing less than stupidity. Same coach who made Mahomes look like a child in the superbowl.

Bowles can’t rush the passer, play man coverage, or make tackles for the defense… he can, however, stop calling plays that require Anthony Nelson and Yaya from dropping into coverage… That said, maybe it’d help if our GM would draft 3-4 LB’s instead of 4-3 defensive ends and thinking they’ll just pick convert to the position like a game of madden.

  55. Joe in Michigan Says:

Ah, Bucs fans pining for the days of Practice Squad Trask…Do you wish JTS was back, too? JTS actually did more than Trask in his career, though.

  56. Stpetematt Says:

We are still 6-5 and relatively in charge of our own destiny (Carolina has way tougher schedule)with a lot of superstar players set to return soon. I see no reason we can’t run the table especially if Baker’s injury is short term.

    Let’s hope for the best.

  57. MelvinJunior Says:

So, almost 200-PEOPLE HERE on this site ‘think’ the BUCS are winning-out… And, another 320 think they’re only losing JUST ONE game from here on out, and still winning 11-GAMES!? Hmmmmm… Wow. That’s 65% of this audience… Unbelievable. With THIS “DEFENSE!?” And, I ‘thought’ at least well over half of this audience was mostly realistic!?:/ I just cannot see-it.

  58. MelvinJunior Says:

See, it’s just NOT a ‘realistic’ poll. Cause, ask these people again, IF they would choose the BUCS going 6-0/5-1 to end the season, IF they were forced to actually BET ON IT” happening… Like, a real bet that would put them in a bind for the month, or something. Then, ASK THEM again, what they THINK. Otherwise, this is completely meaningless while having ‘no-skin’ in the game.

  59. BUDLIKEDTHEBUCS Says:

the team and coaches should have pulled a AB in the 3rd quarter and just left

  60. firethecannons Says:

So glad to hear that the Glazers were present for this embarrassing performance and with Jason Licht–perfect. Must of been uncomfortable. The defense was playing awful so hopefully they remembered that Todd Bowles is defensive coordinator and responsible for this aged out ineffective bunch. We need a new defensive scheme and new defensive coordinator. Fire Todd Bowles this year.

  61. MostlyPeacefulTraskMob Says:

Bridgewater is garbage. He can’t run and he can’t throw. There was a reason he was coaching high school football. He’s washed.

The mob is going to burn the house down. Bowles is a POS. This wasn’t about putting together the best roster. This was about getting rid of a popular player that irritated Bowles.

And then they brought back Godwin on a lucrative deal when he can’t play instead of getting pass rush. His holy savior Mayfield looked like garbage too, BTW. This team is a country club. A bunch of fat cats Cadillacking. They look uninspired. They know Bridgewater is trash. They know the talent just isn’t there.

Bucs win one maybe two more games. Next week when Bridgewater embarrasses us remember that’s on Bowles. Could have had a supported popular player getting reps he deserved – a shot in the arm when we need it – but instead we’ll be watching a total deflation on an already deflated team. Bridgewater had a fork in him two years ago. This is going to be bad.

  62. MelvinJunior Says:

LoL Oh, sorry… I actually just READ the article Hahah. This was from before the season had even started… I was gonna say… WOW. I said then, ANYTHING short of ‘11-WINS’ and at least a Playoffs WIN, was entirely unacceptable. That, If completely healthy, & etc…. Then, they should WIN 13+GAMES, and be in the discussion for a first-round bye, and at a minimum of having at least TWO playoff home games. And SHOULD go to the NFC Championship Game, where anything could happen, at that point.

  63. MadMax Says:

We might win 1 more….the saints. Thats it! D has given up and it looks like Todd has too.

So to the 4 who said “7” winner winner.

  64. BucsNbeer Says:

To be fair to Teddy, he had jet lag.

  65. MelvinJunior Says:

Baker getting hurt… Now, officially saves Todd’s job for next season. It’s just another excuse. They’re not letting him go BEFORE coaching in the very ‘first game’ of his new contract. I would be totally SHOCKED if THIS FO did anything bold.

  66. Defense Rules Says:

Marine Buc … ‘Todd Bowles will be back next season to continue guiding this team to another mediocre season in the weakest division in the NFL.’

I suspect that the Glazers have already seen enough. All 3 phases of this 2025 team are backfiring right now, and coaching is at the heart of the matter. I really felt that we could go 11-6 … UNTIL watching these last 3 games and UNTIL Baker got hurt. I still think that 9-8 is in the realm of possibility, but that’s about it. And that’ll be a struggle.

Todd Bowles sealed his own fate by dual-hatting himself. Todd’s not the answer as our HC OR DC, and Grizz isn’t the answer as our OC. And I doubt anyone’s standing in the ‘McGaughey’s the S/T Coordinator Answer line’ either. Time to clean house is fast approaching.

Bucs are facing a major rebuild. This group of players has a few bonafide beasts, but relatively few. Time to identify ‘the core’ and start rebuilding.

  67. Josh Says:

I wanted to move on from Bowles and bring in Coen midway through last season, and at the time I was criticized so heavily for that opinion that I stepped away from this place for nearly a month. When I finally returned, I tried to accept the idea that although Bowles is, in my opinion, a poor coach and an even worse decision-maker, at least the players still seemed to be giving maximum effort for him.

This season, however, it’s painfully obvious that the situation has changed. You can see it in the players’ body language—the energy is gone, the confidence is gone, and it genuinely looks as though they’ve quit on him. At this point, it’s clear that his tenure should come to an end.

I was also genuinely tired of being labeled a racist simply because I wanted him replaced. My stance has absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin; it is entirely about his performance and the direction of the team under his leadership.

And regarding the quarterback situation: there is simply no way Kyle Trask could have been worse than what we saw from Bridgewater last night. Equally bad? Maybe, if someone wants to make that argument. But Bridgewater couldn’t even connect with receivers 15 yards downfield—it was difficult to watch.

  68. gotbbucs Says:

This article is using some asinine logic. Expectations change when the team comes out of the gate with a 6-2 record. After that, a collapse looks much worse.
This season has the feel of Gruden’s last season. The ownership of this team can handle losing. What they cant handle is losing like this and seeing the team basically give up on the season. The typical crutches for Bowles and Licht to lean on as excuses aren’t there. Licht has survived alot of coaching changes thus far. I don’t think he can survive this one. Bowles had an opportunity to save himself by letting someone else call the defense, but he’s chosen to go down with the ship this time. Two years in a row, 1st time offensive coordinators kept his teams afloat. Now those two offensive coordinators are outperforming him as head coaches. One is going to win this division over him, and the other left on bad terms and crossed the state to a dumpster fire program and is outperforming him too.
None of this can be ignored with respect to this little “gotcha” type article that you’re trying to gas light us with.
Nobody’s gas lighting anyone. You’re acting like your opinions are gospel. Not every fan has to be where you are with a 6-5 record after the meat of the schedule. Nobody is debating the team played horrid football last night.–Joe

  69. Hodad Says:

Be interesting to see how Carolina plays tonight knowing the division can be theirs? My guess win, or lose they’ll show more fight than Todd’s group.

  70. Pewter Power Says:

11 wins assumes both Carolina games are automatic W’s or the final Atlanta game is and we split with Carolina. That’s wasn’t a gimme before Elmo slide Todd does every year.

  71. Told You Says:

It only feels fraudulent if you have not been listening to the fan base the last three years. We want him gone!

  72. View from 132 Says:

Joe I think you are missing the larger point some of us are upset about – that EVEN WITH a minor turnaround and some wins against bad teams, this is not a true, competitive playoff team. This Joe is not missing a damn thing. A lot of fans here are reading things Joe did not write, which Joe understands, as well. –Joe While yes, 6-5 is better than being 2-7, part of being a fan is the belief your team is building a champion. Through the years and through the season.

    We don’t see progress.

We see more years of 9-8 or 8-9 or whatever followed by a bad loss in the Wild Card round, which isn’t really the playoffs.

Permanent long term mediocrity is not exciting.

  73. Bil in Seminole Says:

The sky has fallen. Our top two wide receivers are either out or playing sparsely, our oline are walking wounded, and our defense can’t stop anything. Losing Baker tops it all.

  74. Josh Says:

Seriously JOE IS A PUNK!! Lost all respect for him with his “journalistic integrity” the last few years. He sucks and I only come here to interact with other community members/commenters at this point. Seriously with this article he just verified Joe’s a GASLIGHTING PUNK and I wish there was a website/blog with other Buccaneers fans that was nearly as popular…
Joe thanks you for your patronage. You can deny reality all you want. Joe does not. –Joe

I believe he was saying that the FO should’ve just ‘pulled-the-trigger’ by promoting Cohen to HC and moved Bowles to the FO, “Kayla” – just as I said they HAD TO DO. Of course, just being an OC was never going to be enough. UNLESS (maybe, possibly), they had offered to GUARANTEE HIM 💯 to be OC for just one more season (matched JAX$$$$), and allowing Bowles to finish-out the final season of his contract (since they would like to honor that). Only then, would it had even been a possibility. But, they might’ve HAD TO just rip the band-aid off entirely, in order to keep him… Either way, they could NOT allow HIM to just walk-out of the door. Period. End of Story. That’s on THEM. 💯

  76. MelvinJunior Says:

I hope you’re right, DR. I agree with what you’re saying about the talent level on defense 💯.

  77. Lightningvinny1 Says:

I thought I was watching Meatballs last night playing against camp Mohawk!!!
The halftime speech from Bowles “well the Zone isn’t working and they are too good to play man to man,, so there is no way we are going to win this game, but we can lose with a little dignity and a little self respect”
First play of the second half we should have pants’d the rams and then ran for the bus!

  78. Atrain Says:

What does Joe have to see to call out this Coach???
If you think Joe hasn’t called out the coach, the you have missed a lot of writing here. –Joe

Last night was a completion of what little problems we have seen in several games

    Lack of Fire!!
Poor DEFENSIVE Play !!! By a Guru Coach I’m told
    Blame injuries
Excuses over and again for this Coach
Bucs fired half a Coaching staff several season ago NOT BOWLES WASNT HIS FAULT
NOW this team was being talked about winning Super Bowl at beginning of year we will be lucky to win District

    GLAZERS STOP WOKE PLAY

    START PLAYING FOOTBALL

  80. OneAndThree Says:

Again Joe is missing the point of the fan frustration. Don’t think so. You’re basically making Joe’s point. If you picked the Bucs to win 11, the most popular choice in August, then you expected them to lose to most playoff teams and beat the bad teams. That’s exactly what the Bucs are doing. None of this feels good and the Bucs are playing ugly football, but the season is 18 weeks. –Joe

Beating the drecks of the league means absolute zero.
Just makes you the best of the worst. Not suited to play actual teams.

Another embarrassment in prime time is not palatable.

TB12 raised the bar. That’s where the fans still are. Fire Bowles!

  81. Jack Clark Says:

Finally, a chance for Trask to prove his worth and everything he learned from Tom Brady and his amazing career at UF. Oh wait.

Licht and Bowles are frauds and both have career losing records.

LOSERS. Brady won not these jokers. Licht sucks.

    Time to CLEAN HOUSE

  84. D-Rome Says:

Injuries matter, folks. How good of a head coach was Sean McVay when he lost Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald, Kyren Williams, and Matt Stafford in 2022?

    That team went 5-12.

I predicted 11 wins for this team and that was at full strength. There isn’t a head coach out there that can scheme their way out of losing so many key players throughout the season.

Did anyone else notice who Matt Stafford was throwing to? If you need a reminder it’s Davante Adams and Puka Nakua and both of them will likely be in the Hall of Fame one day.

Meanwhile Baker is throwing to two rookies.

The team looked different on the defensive side without Jamel Dean. I can’t believe I’m saying that.

The team didn’t look good yesterday, but there’s no such thing as a good loss.

  85. TheVerv7 Says:

For any LOTR fans out there the Glazers are King Theodon, old an oblivious and being deceived and manipulated by Wormtongue (Licht) just feeding them terrible advice and false promises and of course they buy it.

  86. Dan the Bucs Fan Says:

East coast teams get blown out a lot when they go to west coast big deal! We were ahead in fourth quarter or had a chance to win late last two weeks. Sky is not falling!

First point Carolina and Atlanta projected record are both 7-10 to end the year they have tough schedules. We are going with the South and hopefully be healthy come playoff time.

Two Bowles did take a team with 60 million in dead cap space to playoffs and to second round.

Now he needs to adjust his scheme to something more modern but the guy can coach.

It’s not a time to panic.

  87. Lightningvinny1 Says:

I agree Dan,, not time to panic . The Bucs are still prohibitive favorites to win South,, Bucky , Big Mike , Kancy , Reddick, Dean and Baker could all be back for the home playoff game , it could be backing into the playoffs but who cares. The next few games we will be back in our low profile 1pm slot , and BTW a couple of pundits believe the Rams may not lose again till next Sept . So let’s stay the course and try to beat AZ,
(Bonus talk) we are not the only upset fanbase right now (Eagles, Giants, Steelers , Vikings, Bills come to mind)

  88. 813bucboi Says:

    DR

gotta agree with you on that…

the only way Bowles survives is if he tells Glazers TODAY, his scheme is outdated & he’s getting a 43 DC for next year…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  89. Jerry Says:

Doesn’t really matter if they make the playoffs or not. It’ll be another first round exit. This defense can’t do squat to stop any decent team.

  90. Darin Says:

Todd Bowles is who he is. Expect the same every season. I know I sure won some money last night. Thanks Coach!

  91. Bucs4Ever Says:

Bowles isn’t going to adjust his scheme. LOLOL.

The guy is a loser dinosaur. I’m tired of folks backing this loser. That makes YOU a loser too. Stop being a loser. FIRE BOWLES! FIRE JASON!

  94. Rod Munch Says:

The day the schedule came out, I had them 6-5 while losing ugly in their prime time games. Man, what a fortune teller I am… or I’ve just been a Bucs fan my entire life and even in the best of times, the Bucs get blown out and lose this game ugly.

Happened in 2002 on MNF vs the Steelers late in the season, was only 17-7 loss because you had the best defense of all time out there, but that game was terrible to watch, had the Bucs getting manhandled, and also featured the backup QB. Now there’s a question, would you rather have Rob Johnson or Teddy Bridgewater at QB, wow, talk about a lose-lose.

Happened in 2020 on SNF vs the Saints, a loss that you could say was even worse than this one.

Both teams won the SB. In 2020, go back and read all the doom and gloom, everyone thought season was over, Brady was washed up, Bucs can’t win vs good teams, etc.

Some things are just the way they are – and the Bucs ALWAYS lose this game and look terrible doing it.

Well, I hear you. But here’s the thing. When an owner sees that in the last couple of years that responsibilities are being off loaded on to another manager. Or in this case, Coach.

That will signal to an owner that the man in charge is doing less and less and the HC is admitting someone else can do the job better. They ask themeless exactly what it is they are paying their HC to do? Effectively that is Bowles approaching them and saying “hey the less I do the better off the team will be” See the point I’m making. Has nothing to do with money has everything to do with lack of confidence. Signaling that it may be time to find a new HC.

    Not good optics for Bowles.

  96. Redzone Says:

I don’t understand this fan base – you act like the teams in a bubble and no one else makes moves – this division won’t be down forever and they won’t stand for mediocrity – the Bucs tread water long enough while the rest make a plan

Ultimately the Bucs have been fine but smug complacency is an infection in this fan base and you people take way too much for granted

I’d take all 3 other defenses over the Bucs right now

  97. newbie Says:

Depends on Baker injury. Bucs are slightly better that mediocre in record (6-5) and performance. Seriously, 5 losses to Philly, NE, Detroit, LA Rams and Buffalo. Who have we beaten? Atl? Houston? SF? I guess Niners and Texans are two quality wins. But lets face – Baker saved Bucs butts first month of season and we could really be looking at a disaster. And I dont want to hear about the injuries. With Baker we finish with 11 wins, get in playoffs and lose in Wildcard round. Without Baker, Bucs may not win division.

  98. Boltsfan17 Says:

The fans that consider this team to be anymore than a poor to mediocre team are homers who are just kidding themselves. That evidently goes for the two guys who own this site. Objectively speaking this team is awful. From the front office, to the coaching to the lack of real talent at almost every position and the total lack of depth illustrates what a fraud this team is. But thinking because the schedule gets easier (for whatever that’s worth) this team will morph into a SB contender go for it. Reality is hard for some here.

  99. newbie Says:

Forgot Seahawks win. So against “playoff like” teams Bucs are 3-5 this year.

  100. JReel Buc Says:

I hope they lose the rest of the Games so they can finally fire Bowles

    ———-

    It’s either 10-7 or 11-6.

Unless Baker is out multiple games, then all is lost since the team handicapabled itself by having a complete worthless bum as the backup QB.

  104. stucbuc Says:

Glazers need to act. When we have competent proven coaches we win. Bruce Airins – SB Jon Gruden – SB

  105. BucYou Says:

Spot on Joe, this team is exactly where we thought they would be, with wins/loses against the teams most of us predicted they’d win/lose against. With a healing roster, and Bucky (whatever comes out there) coming out to play again, this still looks like a very formidable team down the stretch. The return of Big Mike to close out the season will be huge for team chemistry and morale as well.

Believe it or not, I still think this team can make a run in the playoffs this season. Of course, a flat performance against the Cardinals will change everything about this take.

  106. BelleGladeBuc Says:

For anyone trying to spin this team as anything other than a bad football team you remind me of the meme where the dog is sitting in a house on fire and telling us it’s fine.

This team has zero pass rush, allowing quarterbacks FOREVER to sit back in the pocket and shred us.

If we blitz and don’t get home, then our horrendous secondary is getting torched.

Our linebackers are old and can’t cover.

We can’t stop the run at all.

Our secondary resembles size zero lingere trying to cover an elephant.

Our Offensive Line is a weakness as both backup guards are struggling, Wirfs hasn’t fully recovered from in season knee surgery, and Goedeke isn’t 100%.

Baker is getting hit a lot.

The team is consistently each week coming out unmotivated as Baker and LVD have stated which shows a problem in the locker room and coaches.

This is a bad team. Nobody saw this coming. Nobody.

  108. Tucker Says:

When all three phases are failing today doesn’t matter what you thought yesterday. It is correct when saying it’s not who they lost to but how they are losing seems teams are exploiting this defense time and time again offense is sputtering and I just won’t talk about special teams but yeah the sky isn’t falling but tires fell off this team and if they alwin against bad teams big whoop.

  109. David Says:

I have defended Bowles , but that’s over. His scheme is becoming a dinosaur. Good teams tear it up.

Most real fans, with any kind of knowledge, love LICHT

But…. At some point, we need to call him out for not doing something to address the edge. They obviously can’t draft one. They probably could’ve had Garrett from Cleveland or Burns from the Giants. Take a look at their stats.
You don’t think they were worth a 1st & 2nd?!? . I would’ve given up two first round picks for what Myles Garrett is doing this year.
He’s going to end up with the all-time single-season sack record. Not sure what the record is for tackles for loss, but he’s probably close to that too.

Imagine this team with that kind of force on the edge. The entire defense would change in a split second.
