Lavonte David Insists Bucs Are Not In A “Lull”

November 16th, 2025

Lavonte David talks to Joe.

So the Bucs have lost three out of four games and revived ways to lose today in Buffalo.

During the bye week, iconic Bucs captain Lavonte David was worried about his team falling into another “lull” as they have in past seasons. Joe asked David about that after today’s game.

The Bucs had strong starts to their seasons in 2023 and 2024, and then found themselves at 4-7 two years ago and 4-6 last year.

The Bucs are now 6-4 after a 5-1 start. It’s different this time, said David.

“It’s different this year,” David said. “We just gotta play better better football at the end of the day. Everybody’s playing hard. Everybody’s playing fast and physical but we gotta be able execute better, especially defensively.

David lamented how “explosives” are killing the Bucs defense and definitely need to be fixed. However, David said no overhaul or stern message will be forthcoming after the Bills scored 44 points.

“We good,” David said. “I mean, ‘Stay the course.’ We don’t have nothing to worry about, man. Just stay the course. We’re in this together.”

    Missing 3 starting WR’s …
    That’s all folks!

  2. ElioT Says:

    No you not good LVD.

You can insist in one hand and **** in the other. – see which one fills up first.

Defense is old, soft and lacking talent

  3. Rickrose Says:

In other words, “let’s hope Baker keeps playing better and scoring 50 points a game.” Defense is soft, no pass rush.

  4. D-Rok Says:

    Strongly disagree with Lavonte.

  5. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I think this needs to be Lavonte’s last year.

  6. HeartyDickerson Says:

    “Just stay the course.”

Yeah Lavonte, just what the fans want to hear. Keep doing the same useless sh1t, keep running the same defective scheme. It’s been working so well these last 3 years…

  7. SBucs13 Says:

Totally expected response. Comes from the head coach whose only talent is excuses. The Bucs defense showed they can’t rush the passer, tackle, play a very soft zone, undisciplined. Who else in the league has their defensive ends cover wide receivers? This is recipe for disaster. Actually it’s Todd ball at its finest. Has been and will always be.

  8. ElioT Says:

This is why LVD isn’t on Derrick Brooks’ level.

    No gold jacket for you.

  9. Couch Fan Says:

Yes “stay the course” thats been failing ridiculously time and time again. Great idea!

  10. OneAndThree Says:

This guy actually attended classes in college???

I’m going to go out on a limb and say he likely never showed up.

He sounds like a troglodyte. “We good” “We don’t have nothing to worry about, man.”

Clearly Todd has it engrained in them that results do not matter.

And being able to speak intelligently has no place on this team.

  11. 407Bucsfan Says:

Too many big plays on D. Down coverages everywhere and still can’t get to QB!!!!! They should have traded for Crosby.

  12. Ufc Says:

We aint good dog. I was there

  13. VOT Says:

Hahahahahahahaha…we good for about 5 more losses

LA, 2x Carolina, Miami, Atl rematch look like loss s from here

We might beat the Cardinals and Saints…and if Jacoby plays that is likely a loss also

Todd is toast – should have blown it up 2 years ago

  14. TheScourge Says:

Maybe it isn’t a lull this time. Maybe they just aren’t very good.

  15. Gipper Says:

Defense stinks and it has forever. Can’t ever count on these guys. Winfield way overrated, Lavontae too old, pass rush nonexistent. What’s too like?

  16. unbelievable Says:

I love Lavonte as a player, but he has been the captain of a whole lot of mentally soft pathetic defenses.

Time to call a spade a spade

  17. Jameis Says:

Not a lull. A free fall.

  18. TheVerv7 Says:

Don’t worry guys, JL will hear your demands for defensive help and will resign Desmond Watson to play CB next week.

  19. Cchead Says:

To many hits to the head. Sorry Lavonte. Your defense sucks

  20. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Unbelievable Says is spot on. LVD is Bucs current Gerald McCoy. No dawgs on this D. Just collecting paychecks and saying we all good! At least Baker cares and has fire. His mistakes occur when his defense makes it almost impossible to win. Licht needs to do some soul searching and find some real players on D.

  21. Yusef Says:

Not in a lull huh? .. Well sir, as the old saying goes… Actions speak louder than words….

  22. rrsrq Says:

staying pat at the trade deadline, that’s all, as if this team could not be improved

  23. Proudbucsfan Says:

People need to watch the all 22. Lavonte David should have retired and we should have drafted his replacement. As much as I hate to say it, he is washed, looked really slow today and more than once he makes it obvious that he doesn’t want to hit or tackle. He is a liability to this defense.

  24. SenileSenior Says:

Some of you “fans” are nuts. The defense played well but, not “lights out”. We scored 32 points today. With our current configuration on both sides of the ball we could not expect to win a “shoot out”. Simple as that.

    Go Bucs!!

  25. Keydoc Says:

It is like 1976, buc defense gives up
    850 yards
    72 points
    IN TWO GAMES

    ———-

I remember saying that again and again from 2015-2019.

30+ points a week, even with 2 turnovers, should get you the W most of the time. But no, that’s the not the rules. The rules are if you turn it over at any point, you’re responsible for the loss.

So sorry, but Baker is clearly at fault for this L. Not my rules so don’t be mad at me.

FIRE BOWLES ALREADY .YEAR AFTER YEAR .ENOUGH IS ENOUGH . HE STUCK IN THE MUD .WE SEE OTHER TEAMS GETTING BETTER AND WERECTHE SAME EVERY YEAR . LOOK AT PANTHERS , LOOK AT DENVER , EVEN CHICAGO BEARS . YET WE ARE GOING NOWETE WITH BOWLES . LETS GET A WHOLE NEW COACHING STAFF WITH ENERGY ! BORING BOWLES HAS TO GO !

    ===================================
Hey man, you must be looking for attention. Defenses that routinely give up 400yards to opponents are not “playing well.” The bar for posting here is pretty low but you have managed to lower it. The only other Neanderthal who has insisted that the Bucs play great defense is Rod Munch. Glad you made it into his inner circle.

  29. Tucker Says:

Defense gave up 400 yards and most points scored by the bills all season if they are not in a lull then they are just bad.
