Larry Foote: Josh Allen Is Like Brett Favre
November 14th, 2025Bucs outside linebackers coach Larry Foote has played against and coached against some very, very good quarterbacks since he was first drafted in 2002.
When making an analogy about quarterbacks, Foote compared the stud quarterback the Bucs will face Sunday, Josh Allen, to Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre.
Favre, at times, was a reckless quarterback who sometimes played like he was in a neighbor’s backyard. Foote didn’t mean to compare Allen to Favre in that way at all.
Farve was sneaky smart, savvy, Foote said. And Allen does things smartly like Foote saw Favre do. One way was how Favre played against aggressive defenses.
“You [have] to watch your terminology when you say, ‘You’ve got to kill him. You have got to get him down,'” Foote said of Allen. “[Because] you are going to be more aggressive and [he is] going to use it against you.
“He’s old school like Brett Favre. He does a real pump fake, and guys have to stay on their feet.
“The coaching part is you [have] to slow down, come under control and get him down. You [have] to wrap him up, but when he wants to make the plays, he is going to be able to make the plays, we just cannot let it take over the game.”
The Bills offense is a mess outside of running back James Cook. Now if you look at Allen’s numbers, they are very similar to recent years, with the exception of two.
Allen’s QBR rating is way down but his sacks are way up. Joe’s not paying attention to the sacks because the Bucs seemingly refused to pay creepy Bob Kraft a tariff to get after Drake Maye last week, the second-most sacked quarterback in the league.
The Bucs had one sack on Maye last week and that came from Elijah Roberts, a defensive tackle. However, apparently, Allen’s not connecting on deep throws this year as he has in the past because this year his receivers are trash on deep throws.

Josh will throw the ball to the Bucs. The Bucs have to catch it.

Why do I have a sinking feeling this show will be a rerun we have all seen many, many, many times. A get well game from our opponent. Would like to be very wrong and eating crow come Sunday. Go Bucs

The Bucs inconsistent play of late makes it harder on the Bucs to walk away with a win playing in the Bill’s wintery stadium 🏟 ONE CAN ONLY HOPE.

If we win, it will be the first time in Josh’s career he’s lost two in a row

The Bills offense is a mess. The Bills defense is very porous, especially against the run. Is it just me or does this game feel like the Bills win easily. Just seems like a very Bucs Sunday is on tap.

Beeej. That didn’t sound right. Last month the bills lost consecutive games. Josh has lost 2 straight 7 times in the NFL. Where in the world are you getting your information?

Pound the Rock, throw beyond the marker, plug the gaps and deny the big play. Simple really!

Too bad about Buffalo but Bucs are missing 5 of 11 starters on offense. Next man up sounds brave, but when you are missing highly paid, talented players it is not possible to fully replace these guys with guys picked up from waiver wire or practice squad. Just hoping Baker doesn’t get maimed between now and end of season.

The Bucs better have a plan to stop the run like they used to. Then they have a good chance. Let Allen & Cook run free, and this game will get out of control quickly.

Beeej. Allen lost consecutive games last month to the Falcons and the Patriots. He hasn’t lost three straight since his rookie season. They are very beatable this year. No way do we lose this game.

No worries. Braswell will shock Bucs fans with 3 sacks in the first half.
The game will be remembered as THE BRASWELL EXPLOSION.
No worries.

The Pats had some weakness too but we failed to take advantage.
