Jamel Dean Manhandles Ndamukong Suh
November 18th, 2025It seems there’s one defensive back in the Bucs’ locker room who should be on everyone’s don’t-mess-with-me list.
Cornerback Jamel Dean told a heck of a story last night on the Buccaneers Radio Network, and the fun part was it was verified by former Bucs defensive lineman Will Gholston on the broadcast.
Dean shared that over the years, Bucs defensive linemen have been known to mess with defensive backs teammates and sometimes that includes playful or not so playful wrestling.
Early in his career, Dean said, he was targeted by manbeast defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. It didn’t go well — for Suh.
Dean takes great pride in his strength and his hand-to-hand combat skills.
“Suh never realized how strong I really was, so I guess he tried to grab me and I immediately like grabbed his legs and I started picking him up, “Dean said. “So I had him on one foot and he was just bouncing. So I had opportunity, like I could have dumped him in the laundry bin but I ended up like stopping and just let him go because I knew that would have opened up a can of worms.”
To Joe’s surprise, Gholston bore witness to Dean’s story (keep in mind Gholston and Suh were close). However, Gholston added that Suh’s fuse was lit and he was getting angry.
“He couldn’t believe I got him off the ground,” Dean interjected.
Gholston picked it up from there. “Suh started to get mad. When he started to get mad, I looked, I said, ‘Dang.’ I could not believe this kid (Dean) was that strong. He’s a young dude in the league and I’m looking, I’m like, is he really?”
Gholston noted Suh certainly would have played to win if things had escalated from there. Dean added that Bucs defensive linemen took him seriously after that.
Joe always enjoys a good behind-the-scenes nugget. And what a visual that must have been.

Great story!! And a relief after so much dismal stuff over the past 2 weeks!!. Good for Dean, sure wished that strength helped him to avoid injury. Maybe he just pushes too hard in the game.

Was Dean injured on the play?

Sure wish that strength and fighting skill translated to durability on the field.

Suh is notoriously mean spirited. He’s from Oregon (so am I). His high school coach was afraid of him. So afraid that no Pac10 team would touch him.
YouTube Suh. Lots of people share stories of the guy. All the stories are about how terrifying he is off the field.

Dean has no business wrestling anyone with him being prone to injuries….it’s all he can do to stay on the field.

Suh would be their best defensive lineman if he signed today – he alone would set the attitude needed to offset the weak soft mindset this trash HC continues to infuse

Immediately after the telling of this story dean was injured for the rest of the year.

Just a fun story… and of course the idiot Dean haters get triggered by it. Morons.

Really shocked that Dean didn’t get hurt telling that story. It doesn’t take much he falls and he is out for the game or multiple games lol

“…opened up a can of whoop-ass.” is more appropriate. You can pick up Suh, but he’ll curb stomp you to the ground if he’s pissed.

Dean is an athletic freak. If he wasn’t so dang nice he’d make a hell of an MMA fighter.

Why the heck are we pushing Dean out of the building???
