BY IRA KAUFMAN

Stink on stink.

Todd Bowles characterized last week’s loss at Buffalo as “a stinker” and the 34-7 setback we just witnessed against the Rams was worse.
Much worse.

Tampa Bay lost a shootout against the Bills that featured nine lead changes. Sunday’s matchup was over in 13 minutes. The Bucs were lifeless from the start, not ready for prime time and overwhelmed on both sides of the ball.

It was by far their worst effort of a season that has suddenly turned into a death struggle against the Panthers for supremacy in the NFC South. The division champ will be guaranteed a home game. The second-place finisher will almost surely be watching the postseason from an easy chair.

The Rams are very good and they’re hot. At 9-2, they boast the best record in the conference. That doesn’t explain how easy the Bucs made it look for Sean McVay’s dynamic crew. It doesn’t explain a 31-7 deficit after 30 minutes.

“I thought we had total command and control of the football game in the first half,” said McVay.

Nobody who watched this travesty would dare disagree with him.

The Bucs were flat from the get-go, seemingly unprepared for Matt Stafford’s elite accuracy and unable to stay within the same area code of Davante Adams or Puka Nacua. Stafford completed his first 12 passes and at that point, Buc fans must have been wondering if any of his throws would ever hit the ground.

Tampa Bay’s offense was equally inept.

Baker Mayfield, who yielded to Teddy Bridgewater after injuring his left shoulder, completed less than half of his throws and averaged 2.1 yards per pass attempt. He and Bridgewater were each sacked twice as Tampa Bay finished with 70 passing yards.

That’s the lowest total for this franchise since Week 3 of the 2009 season, when the Giants strutted into Tampa and embarrassed the Bucs 24-0. Byron Leftwich and Josh Johnson combined for 58 passing yards and the Bucs went 0-for-9 on third down en route to an 0-7 start under first-year coach Raheem Morris.

That was a 3-13 football team in a throwaway season following the dismissal of Jon Gruden. This is a team that was rolling at 6-2 heading into a bye week that appeared to arrive at a fortuitous time.

Yes, the Bucs have suffered yet another midseason meltdown. They’ve lost 4-of-5 and three straight heading into a stretch of three consecutive home games. If Mayfield is sidelined for any length of time, Tampa Bay’s streak of five straight playoff berths would be in serious jeopardy.

The Bucs were not competitive in prime time — for all the rest of the NFL world to see.

You have to wonder what the Glazers are thinking because this defense has been brutal since the bye. Here’s how the Rams made football fans from Boise to Boynton Beach reach for the remote rather than watch a one-sided spectacle.

* Tampa Bay’s only scoring drive of the game, capped by rookie Tez Johnson’s TD reception, was kept alive by two Mayfield scrambles that moved the chains on third down. That’s the only way the visitors avoided a shutout on national television.

* Mayfield’s pick-6 wasn’t his fault as Cade Otton bobbled and then surrendered a pass that should have been an easy catch. That made it 14-0 and Buc Nation would have been wise to switch to a “Seinfeld” rerun.

* When Mayfield and Bridgewater weren’t being hounded, they couldn’t find targets who were closely shadowed. The Rams were credited with 10 pass breakups, compared to only three for the visitors.

* For the third consecutive week, the Buc defense was gashed by big plays. Nine of Stafford’s 25 completions went for at least 14 yards, compared to two for Tampa Bay. The first four drives by L.A. ended with three touchdowns and a field goal. By the time McVay called off his dogs after halftime, more than a few Buc fans were barking for Bowles’ head.

* Zyon McCollum, tasked with containing Adams, had a bad night. He hasn’t played well since the bye.

* The only Buc defender who played with any juice was YaYa Diaby, who posted Tampa Bay’s lone sack and came off the ball with enrgy and purpose.

* Can the Bucs win games with Bridgewater under center? Given the flaws of this defense, that’s a big ask.

* Although Chris Godwin was on a strict snap count, it was good to see him back on the field. Expect more from No. 14 against Arizona on Sunday, when Simeon Rice is inducted onto the Buc Ring of Honor.

Is Todd Bowles on the brink?

* Looking for a silver lining? Every Buc who suited up got into the game. More importantly, this debacle was over in less than three hours.

* A 4-2 finish should be the bare minimum, given the upcoming schedule. That would match last year’s 10-7 record and likely ensure another postseason opportunity. But sweeping the Panthers won’t be easy and Mayfield’s health is now a huge concern. If Jacoby Brissett shreds the Buc pass defense while leading the Cardinals to victory on Sunday, all bets are off — including Bowles’ future.

  1. Truth be Told Says:

Every team is a reflection of its coach. Todd has hit his ceiling with this team and the way it is constructed. His Pass Defense stinks again. Why we have Edge Rushers dropping back into coverage is a JOKE. Just like Dungy ran his course and Gruden, it is time to bring in an Offensive minded coach (Kiffin) with a DC that knows what they are doing and is proven. Go Bucs!!

  2. johnnythemoon Says:

Licht needs to catch blame as well..Godwin and Zyon contracts were huge mistakes.

  3. Statisticly Insignificant Reader Says:

Game embarrassed the entire Tampa Bay area. Same crap different day. I have grown tired of Bowles blah blah blah. The realist is coming through.

  4. ModHairKen Says:

I was one in denial. I am not any longer.

“Zyon McCollum, tasked with containing Adams, had a bad night. He hasn’t played well since the bye.”

No, he didn’t have a bad night. He’s had a bad career. He had the same night he always has. He sucks. He’s a lousy player. He’s not a good back up. He’s always turned around. He’s always out a position. He never knows how to stay close to a past receiver. How did the guy even get in the NFL?

Cade Otton is also not an NFL caliber player. He’s lousy. He doesn’t block well. He can’t catch. He’s unreliable even as a journeyman.

As for the rest of the team, going out their lifeless and unready, that’s on them. They’re paid professionals. The coaches obviously have lost the lockerroom or they would be motivating these people to do better.

    It’s time for a change.

I would not be shocked if they lost one of the remaining games.

  5. Waterboy Says:

Let’s look at those defensive players. Excluding Vea, Winfield and Smith who else from that defense could demand mid to upper tier money in free agency? David was a beast in his days but he’s now 35.

  6. Todd Says:

4-2 at the minimum you say?? You are delusional.

  7. ModHairKen Says:

    All of the remaining games.

  8. Todd Says:

Can you not recognize quit when you see it?

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Jason Licht and Todd Bowles are 100% to blame for this collapse.

They both knew they didn’t have the personal to compete at any level with Evans and Godwin always hurt nonstop.

They also knew they need massive help on defense but yet they threw away a pick in the first round by reaching and drafting for a wide receiver.

Both those two knew, but did absolutely NOTHING to address all the team’s concerns as a whole.

The QUIT last night….that’s exactly what everyone witnessed…….and when this happens, then whole organizational changes need to occur!!!!!

  10. Davenport Says:

10-7 followed by what will be a playoff loss should not earn a chance for Bowles to return in 2026. He’s gotta go.

Realistically, we’ll be 9-8, 8-9 at worst. The standard Bowles season that we’ve seen too many times.

  11. jimmy Says:

Mr Poopy Pants doesnt have what it takes. The so called “culture” of this team is pathetic….It’s like they knew they were going to have a tough night so why bother?

  12. OneAndThree Says:

I don’t believe for a second that Ira will call for Bowles to be fired if the Cardinals do indeed come to Tampa and boot stomp us. Prove me wrong.
As journalists you need to have some integrity and start asking Bowles the tough questions, without allowing him to squirm out of it with a word salad answer. Bowles has been asked tough questions, as others after this post mentioned. Joe doesn’t tell fans what to think, but you think it’s OK to tell Ira exactly when he should believe calling for a coach’s head is in order? Sounds hypocritical. For the record, Ira was the only one who called publicly for Jason Licht to be fired after the 2018 season. And best believe Licht and his family were well aware. This isn’t the federal government. Fans see the results on the field. Coaches can’t squirm away from their record. –Joe

There’s just nothing about this team that is fun to watch right now. The QB, OL, TE and ENTIRE defense is absolute dogshet and none of them deserve a day off until they figure this out. Absolute dogshet.

    ‐————————–

Fans would have exploded if Godwin wasn’t resigned. I campaigned against but was shouted down.

Zyon doesn’t get that contract unless Bowles pushes for it to get done. A GM’s job is to get his head coach the tools he asks for. Further evidence that Bowles doesnt have a clue what he’s doing.

  15. Waterboy Says:

Something has to start before it can quit. I don’t recall much from this group of guys over the past couple of years. I’ve seen success from Bowles before but I’ve never seen it from most of them. I have no doubt Bowles would get another DC job if things don’t workout here but I have little confidence that most of these guys will go elsewhere and do much more than what we’ve already seen.

  16. Upstate NY BUC Says:

I don’t think Thanksgiving Dinner is even going to take this nasty taste out of my mouth, did you watch Bowles P/C!! same old bull-crap! C’mon Todd show us fans little emotion and anger!!! Sad circumstances!!!! Go Bucs!!!

  17. JTHV Says:

    JTHV Says:

Oh shet, I forgot to list the special teams in my comment above. They are perhaps the most detrimental group other than the washed LB core.

  18. FootBall1 Says:

Ira well said. However, I will take it a step further. The Bucs will lose the div to Car , who is now surging. The Bucs are done for the year. Reddick is the only person coming back on defense and it appears he is not enough. McCollum, should and needs to be benched. He is playing poorly at best.
Yes the only reason I tuned into the game at all was to watch Godwin. He looked good from what I observed.
The Game went as scripted. The game was over midway throught the first quarter. Fans should have expected nothing else. The team currently is not who we thought they were. Presently they are a bad team descending when other teams are acsending. It is that simple. The front 7 are awful, except David and Vea.
Bowles deserves criticism, not the scheme, but I believe the criticism should be both with him and Licht for misjudgeing the personnel they have on defense. This team will be lucky to go 9-8. Don’t be surprized if the get swept by Car and I don’t see them sweeping Atl. Can the Bucs beat Ariz?, not if they play like they have the past 3 weeks, The Saints , well ok.

  19. GoneGator Says:

    Very very few bright spots.
Offense, defense, special teams. Coaches, players. Stars and backups. Shlt show all around and winning out (doubtful) won’t make this pig any prettier for me.

Hope is no longer that we’re as good as the better teams but instead that we can pull off a miracle run in (if we make) the playoffs.

Everybody knows Todd is truly getting heat now but Grizz and Baker have been really disappointing too to me.

They also knew they need massive help on defense but yet they threw away a pick in the first round by reaching and drafting for a wide receiver.
    ‐——————————

Your argument makes no sense. They drafted Egbuka specifically because Evans and Godwin are fragile. He’s had to step in precisely because those two fell to injury and he’s proven that he’ll be WR1 next year.

Look at the players drafted from #20 to #32 and tell me who would have helped this team more? There isnt one

  21. Darin Says:

Josh Allen was inaccurate and they still hung 42. Stafford was on and they would and could have hung 70. And some of us did change the channel after the pick 6.

  22. BucU Says:

This coach and team are an embarrassment to Buc fans everywhere. This team is weak minded and weak physically. Bowles should have been fired this morning.
    The Glazers are gutless clowns.

  23. Couch Fan Says:

Nothing will ever change until this buffoon of a HC is gone. Same story every single year. It doesnt matter who is on the field, same results. Same excuses. Same poor play.

  24. Todd Says:

You miss the point about Licht-Licht could have traded for some very good players to fill these holes at the trade deadline and did absolutely nothing.

  25. Waterboy Says:

Defensive rankings from 2019 to 2025.
    2019: 27th
    2020: 6th
    2021: 8th
    2022: 17th
    2023: 15th
    2024: 16th
    2025: 22nd

  26. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Maybe re-signing all of the draft picks is overblown. McCollum stinks and is grossly overpaid. If I hear anyone with Bucs suggest that Cade Otten is a priority this offseason I will vomit. Bowles isn’t the worst but he’s clearly not the guy either.

  27. Cometowin2 Says:

I almost turned this game off which I’ve never done. Fanatic since first win in 1977. Some excuses could be expected for the offense this season with all the injuries and a new OC but the defense is relatively healthy except for Kancey and Dean and for a defensive head coach who is SUPPOSEDLY a defensive genius, the results are unacceptable Changes must be made.

  28. adam from ny Says:

bowles let brissett shred us a few years back in a really bad loss in cleveland…when he literally took the ball out of tommy b’s hands down the stretch…

if coach lets brissett shred him again, honestly, the glazers should think of pulling the plug next monday morning…at that point we’ll have lost 5 of 6 in a real bad way…

i thought the little scrambler…i forget his name…was still starting for the cards…i guess he’s injured or something…

but if we lose to back up brissett, i’m not sure we can go much lower…

i hope we turn it around and go 5-1 and peacock around like we’re a top team again
(even tho we all know we are not a top team)

  29. OneAndThree Says:

For Christmas I’ve asked for a paper bag to put over my head while watching Bowles coach this team on Sundays.

Toad Bowels Fan Club will be adorned on the bag.

    He’s simply the very best.

Better extend him again through 2040 before another team tries to pull him away!

  30. Waterboy Says:

Hall of Fame member Jimmy Johnson, “It’s not the Xs and Os, it’s the Jimmys and Joes.” A team needs good coaching, but it has to have the talent to succeed.

  31. SBucs Says:

None of the current Bucs players would have started on any of the teams the Bucs lost to. Not one could start for the Eagles, Lions, Bills, Patriots and definitely not the Rams. Not one. Several players (Egbuka, Wirffs, Smith, Parish, Diaby) could turn out to be good with good coaching but the Bucs don’t have good coaching. Imagine these players on well coached teams. This fiasco is squarely on Jason and Todd. They neither stock the team with significant quality and they manage to do so they don’t teach winning football. Todd teaches not to lose. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Cardinals do show up the Bucs next Sunday. Brissett against Bridgewater? anyone?

  34. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

Something I haven’t seen spoken about is there is a huge difference between Grizzard and Coen. I’m truly thinking we should have hired Coen as our HC last year. I have always been a supporter of Bowles but this defense is pathetic.

  35. LJ Says:

Execution and intellectual planning are one thing, even talent, but the disparity in strength, speed and aggression was shockingly palpable.

  36. Stringer Bell Says:

@OneAndThree He did ask him the tough question last week. He asked if Bowles was embarrassed. I’m sure he would have another question locked and loaded if they get shredded by the Cards. Accountability for these guys is calling it how they see it – they don’t make coaching or personnel decisions though.

  37. LJ Says:

Even Barton and Wirfs got eaten alive by those guys.

  38. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Unless we turn this around quickly, I say blow it up. Even if we win the division and get curb stomped in the playoffs – blow it up. Not good enough! Not even close. That was awful and I don’t see any positives moving forward. Lifeless Bowles and our lifeless Bucs. Don’t want another year of this.

  39. heyjude Says:

All sadly so, Ira. Well said. Agreed, good to see Chris. They need to keep him healthy.

I hate to say, we looked depleted and after Baker’s injury it got worse. Bright spots Yaya and Tez.

  40. LJ Says:

It was like they were on espresso and steoroids and we were on xanax and bourbon.

  41. Lol Says:

My outlook on Bowles has changed a bit with him at the helm. I didnt think he was the right hire or the coach to lead the Bucs to another superbowl when he was 1st hired and after his 1st 2 seasons.

But after improving again last season my outlook changed. I though the team was trending up yet again and that Todd was learning and improving. Brining in a game management specialist this season was a huge feather in the cap too and I had high hopes.

But after, yet again, going through a mid season lull where the team didnt look ready to play against playoff caliber teams. Losing 4 out of 5 games where the team looked unprepared and lacked energy. Its the same story every damn season with Bowles at the helm. And every season its the DEFENSE that lets this team down. I dont think Bowles is capable of running a top 10 defense in the NFL any longer and hes proved that he cant over the last 3 years.

I think the Bucs need a legit Defensive coordinator that can put his players in the best position and not have edge rushers/linemen dropping into coverage to mask exotic blitzes.

We don’t have the players to rush the passer straight up. But is that Todd Bowles Fault for wanting to play his type of defense? Or is Todd playing this God-awful scheme because Licht cant draft a pass rusher?

  42. Confido75 Says:

Didn’t Bowles state the team was turning the corner after the Bills game? Bowles is the issue right now. His unwillingness to give up the defense is costing him Ws. If by some miracle this team limps into the playoffs and the Glazers don’t fire him, they need to force him to hire a fresh mind from the outside to run the defense.

  43. Miller5252 Says:

What makes this worse is how this team performed earlier in the year and still had injuries and backups playing. I listen to the podcast every time it’s out and I’ve heard plenty of times they don’t understand why the fans can’t get behind Bowles. This is 110% why. The D gives up too many games like the last 3. The offensive coordinator is gonna be in the same boat shortly

  44. Smarter than Joe Says:

Todd has been calling the defense for almost 7 full seasons and the team’s average pass Defense Ranking in that period is 26th. 26TH!!!

    There are only 32 teams…

It’s time to modify this scheme or get a new play caller

  45. Tom in Madtown Says:

Don’t put all of the blame for the interception on Otton. Yes, he bobbled the ball that led to an interception. But the ball was thrown to the wrong side of him. Based on the route he was running, the ball should have been placed to the outside, which would have allowed him to catch it in front of him and continue running. Instead, he had to reach behind him and bobbled the football.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Baker Mayfield. But I am sure when he watches the film, he will acknowledge behind closed doors that his ball placement was suspect.

  46. garbs65 Says:

I’m not going to put this all on Bowles….but the coaching staff in general are underperforming. Way too many injuries. If we happen to squeak out a playoff spot, we won’t last long. We need playmakers on defense. Our current db’s are not doing it. Need edge rushers. I see us at least 2 years away from really competing. I hope I’m wrong. Go Bucs!

  47. First Last Says:

Kind of hoping for a tank tbh

  48. Bobby M. Says:

Bowles will not give up playing calling, he knows if he objects the only option for ownership is to fire him. Bowles has stated many times he’s nearing retirement regardless, he’s getting paid well to retire early. Thankfully that’s never stopped ownership before, Gruden was given an extension and then let go. Bowles will keep doing it his way until the bitter end…..we’re just waiting to see what the owners deem as enough to make the change. I suspect another one and done playoff exit will be the final straw.

  49. I Remember 21 Says:

Waterboy bringing the truth to light. Our supposed defensive guru has had putrid defenses except for 2 years. And besides having a lot more talent during those 2 years, do you know what else helped him achieve those rankings? An all world offense. When teams know they’re gonna get 27+ put on them every game, their offense has to try and keep up. But surprise surprise, bowles learned the WRONG lesson and said the offense needed to be neutered so the defense had time to rest. And we see how that has worked out. The offense sucks AND the defense sucks, great. Not only is his scheme a problem (which he will NEVER change), his whole philosophy about how to win football games is dated and wrong (which will definitely never change). To those that still support him, what does a coach that deserves to get fired look like to you?? Unless you base it purely on record (which the players affect too), he looks as bad or worse than any of the other coaches considered to be on a hot seat. Decision making, personnel changes/lack there of, clock/down/time out management, motivational skills, dealing with the press, injury clarity, ALL LACKING. And what is he great at? Name one thing, I’ll wait.

  50. SteveK Says:

A trade for a WR, edge rusher, would’ve been welcomed! Let’s see how we finish. I hope I’m eating crow when we make the playoffs, and if we don’t I’ll be bellyaching because this is my team.

  51. QBKilla Says:

Bowles need’s to retire and Licht should trade draft picks for proven defensive players instead of drafting bust after bust.

  52. Defense Rules Says:

Been an avid Bucs’ fan since 1982, and I’ve never felt this way about our team. Over those years, no matter how bad it got, I always felt like SOMEONE was gonna make a big play & help right the ship. SOMEONE. This season there’s been NO ONE do that on defense, and only Baker (sporadically) on offense. It’s like everyone has become invisible.

Bowles keeps indicating that they just need to do the small things better, then everything will be OK. Block better, run better, pass better, catch better, cover better, tackle better. He’s right I suppose, BUT … all these guys made the team because they can already do all those things. SO WHY AREN’T THEY DOING THEM?

You said it earlier Joe, this team lacks HEART. But I also think at the core of that they lack CONFIDENCE. They’re all looking to ‘the other guy’ to make a play, instead of looking to THEMSELVES to make a big play. Baker has saved them FOUR times this season already with last-minute comebacks to win. In our 6 wins the Bucs’ defense has surrendered 20.5 PPG average, against 6 offenses with an average #20 ranking in Points Scored.

But our Bucs’ defense has been skewered in our 5 losses, and Baker hasn’t even come close to saving them. In those 6 losses the Bucs’ defense has surrendered a whopping 32.2 PPG average, against 5 offenses with an average #7 ranking in Points Scored. HUGE DIFFERENCE in the quality of the teams we’ve beaten & lost to.

We’ve lost to 5 very good teams: Eagles (8-3), Lions (7-4), Patriots (10-2), Bills (7-4) and Rams (9-2). That’s losing to 5 teams with a combined 41-15 record this season, as opposed to beating 6 teams with a combined 29-37 record to date (and 3 of those have good winning records).

Bucs are who our record & stats say we are … 6-5 overall (mid-pack), with a #15 offense & a #25 defense. We’re no competition for the big dogs. Time to get back on the porch & lick our wounds.

  53. Upstate NY Buc Fan Says:

    Defense Rules—agree100% Go Bucs!!

  54. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is any way that we possibly win 4 of the next 6 games.

We need a new Defensive Coordinator with a totally different defensive scheme. And we also need a new Offensive Coordinator and a totally different offensive scheme. Both are terrible currently.

  55. BayouBullet Says:

5:30 on the east coast… If Baker had a good mri wouldn’t that have been leaked already?

  56. BUCDADDY Says:

I couldn’t agree more with this Josh guy’s comments on the Lavinte David article. Todd Bowles has been instrumental in ruining this team. I haven’t been this disgusted in this whole organization since the tail end of the Winston era. It has sucked the fun out of football for me, and last night was the first time in recent years where I just stopped watching the game at the half, believing there was no shot at all of a comeback. It’s embarrassing and miserable to support this team. And it went from being really enjoyable to watch them, to boring, and not any fun at all. If we lose to Arizona next week, I may just have to stop watching. It’s so depressing.

  57. Conte Piscatelli Says:

If Baker doesn’t pull off 4 game winning drives this team is 2-9 and headed for a top 5 pick with a new head coach.

  58. BayouBullet Says:

Just got my answer. Low grade shoulder sprain… Maybe miss a game or 2

  59. Bucs4Ever Says:

Loser Licht…Reddick? Bust? McCollum? Bust? Godwin? Bust? Grizzard? Bust?

Time for the Glazers to clean house and dump Licht the LOSER(Brady saved him from getting fired).

It’s time. Dude has a career losing record…gave Brayd his only losing seasons. Let Bowels ruin the team further.

    FIRE LICHT – HESUCKS!

  60. Optimistic Says:

Low grade shoulder sprain on his non-throwing shoulder. Don’t be surprised if Baker starts against the Cardinals.

  61. Deeboooo Says:

Some of you are real losers calling for this team to tank the season.

  62. HC Grover Says:

This will be fun to watch…Bowles biggest blunder ever…Bilgewater….takes over.I plan to enjoy the Bilgewater Blunder. At least it is better than stressing out about Bowlezo.

  63. Buc king Says:

I want Todd Bowles fired I already started posting my tickets on ticket Master..
This team doesn’t look coached well on defense..
Only reason I give offense a pass is injuries which in honestly I think baler needs to learn the playbook and what a defense is giving him.
He forces plays and stares down his hot route

  64. HC Grover Says:

Defense Rules….Do not let it get to you. You are a very informed fan who enjoys JBF and the Bucs. I am an original fan who was at the first game in the old sombrero. Still a fan. You got to go with the flow. It will take a while now but the Bucs will one day be a great team. Enjoy what you have. I remember having NO TEAM AT ALL!!!!

  65. Jmarkbuc Says:

This team plays like Bowles coaches, that simple.

  66. Bucs4Ever Says:

Teddy is on Licht!!!! Licht sucks. Todd is Todd…we knew what he was…Licht is an imposter that was saved by Tom Brady. That guy is a loser and sucks.

Anyone defending Licht hates the Bucs.

Let’s be honest, with exception of the Super Bowl season this defense has underperformed in a lot of big games including playoffs. Have we forgotten last years season ending playoff game against the Commanders? The defense could not get a stop especially late in the game when we really needed it. This has become a pattern of Todd Bowles defenses. If it’s a big game, prime time, west coast or playoffs our defense seems to disappear. You can blame it on the players or the team we are playing against just being better. There is one constant in this whole thing, Todd Bowles. It is just not going to get better. Sure we may come out with some fire and still win the division but once we hit the playoffs our defense will implode like it always does. Time for Bowles to go.

4-2 to finish the season? Not a snow balls chance in h3ll.

2-4 is looking like best case scenario at this rate, and im struggling to decide where the second win will come from. Im giving Bowles the Saints game as a win, but im not confident with that either.
Jacoby Brissett will have a career day.

  69. Oscar Says:

With regard to Brisset, he is no slouch. If you read between the lines, if you read, Brisset is starting because the offense has looked so much better with him at the helm than it did with Kyler Murray. Brisset gives them their best chance to win. So , in essence, we are not truly playing against a backup Quarterback. He has won the job. I hope the coaches for the Bucs realize they won’t be facing some stiff at QB like some people think will be the case. The Cardinals are better than the Saints, Falcons, Dolphins and Panthers in imo.

  70. Oscar Says:

This game against the Cardinals will be the toughest of the remaining games and it comes at a bad time.

  71. Tucker Says:

I don’t think it necessarily takes confidence to not stand around and watch someone miss a tackle before you move, lack of accountability more like it, no sense of urgency at all with this team. Most definitely looks like the league has figured out this defense having zero pass rush really helps out with that.

  72. GangstaRIB Says:

Bowles needs a defensive coordinator. Too much going on with an OC in training.

Lots of fire Bowles people here but our staff keeps getting promoted and we’re stuck with Grizz. Not bashing the guy but he’s new at this.

  73. It's Corn Says:

Sadly it seems like the defensive backs who’ve gotten a payday from the Bucs haven’t deserved it after they cash their checks. Carlton Davis, Jamel Dean, Antoine Winfield, Zyon McCollum. Todd Bowles lol.

  74. GenocideD Says:

Remember when bowles said he needs ty change his defense up every 3 years so teams can’t figure him out? Bahahahaha
Last night’s game is the first one I turned off in the 3rd qtr in a loooong time.
We’re in trouble and it centers all on our pathetic special teams and lack of any sort of a pass rush. We need to fire some defense coaches.

  75. Simeon4HOF Says:

It’s safe to say Todd Bowles off-season epiphany didn’t involve OLBs rushing the passer

  76. Saskbucs Says:

“Ira called for Licht firing in 2018.”

Good thing Ira isn’t steering the ship, Bucs wouldn’t have SB #2.

Bowles has been defended way too long. I’ve flip flopped a bit on him since everyone says the players love him and play hard but he has only ever beaten bad teams (somewhat consistently) and QBs (stars, journeymen and rookies alike) set records against his D.

The D is not that injured this season and it’s the same results. He’s Lovie now. Outdated and irrelevant. Every year he finds no improvement at the bye and mismanages games, losing the coaching battle more often than not and contributing to the L column much more than he has the W column. Facts!

10 wins or less and a first round exit should absolutely mean Bowles head and anyone who thinks otherwise has their head in the sand.
