So what’s been going on with receiver Chris Godwin behind the scenes at One Buc Palace?
That’s a mystery, of course, but a little less of mystery after Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht spoke last night.
Before kickoff in Los Angeles, Licht visited the team readio network and referenced Godwin’s return to action last night after more than one month on the shelf.
“This is something that we’re all excited, about. He looks really, really good. To be honest with you, he’s looked like the old Chris Godwin,” Licht said.
Now that got Joe excited, which was short-lived after the Bucs played impotent, embarrassing football and were toast before halftime.
Still, Licht is not one for recovery hyperbole when it comes to injured players. If Godwin has been practicing like his old self, that bodes well for the stretch run.
Licht referenced Godwin likely being on a “pitch count” last night.
Today, head coach Todd Bowles said Godwin came out of the game well after his limited action.

All we seem to do is constantly throw passes behind the sticks….last night we averaged 6 yards per completion on 17 passes with only 2 to RBs
No wonder we can’t get 1st downs.

The way Godwin was running around. He looked good. When he started the season he didn’t look this good. You know it’s a bad game when Wirfs was getting worked over by a rookie. After last night the nfl should give the Bucs anymore primetime games.

Licht is more used car salesman that he is a GM. Constantly trying to fool the fanbase into thinking this is a group of winners.

Hi Joe can we be alittle excited about Godwin!!. The only reason I tuned in was to see him take the field. I didn’t watch much , because I knew what was going to happen. Yes it went exactly as scripted, so no need to be upset. That is who the Bucs are presently.
Anyway I did see Godwin some, as he was all I was keying in on and agree I like what I saw just the way he moved and carried himself. He is such a hard worker.
This team is done!!, There is no one coming in to bail out this D and by the time the Bucs get the weapons back on offense it will be to late. However, watching Godwin get back his form is something to be happy about.
Yes, the Bucs are very very poor in prime time, so take them off. They deserve the reputation they have. On prime time yes they are the YUCS.

Licht’s credibility is suspect. He bragged way too hard on Braswell and some of the other defenders during preseason. They have been complete losers.
To be honest, everyone who has a paycheck coming from the owners should STFU this week. No one wants to hear that “we had a bad game“ or “we’re almost in all three phases of the game.“. LIES!
They are just trying to avoid losing hot dog revenue.
This was supposed to be a good team.

Godwin looked comfortable out there – both running routes and blocking. That last drop is one he usually catches and gets 10+ YAC. Wasn’t mad about it, those things come with more play time!

According to PFF, he played exactly 20 snaps, or a pace of 40 snaps in what was supposed to be limited snaps. So basically he should be on pace to play the full game vs the Cardinals it would appear.
Hard to take much from what he did as Baker had a bad night and you’re limited by the TV angle, but when I watched him, from what I could see, he looked good – he didn’t look sluggish or anything. The one play before the half he had his man beat and was wide open and Baker just threw behind him – that’s really the only play with any depth where he was targeted. Obviously in the 2nd half, with Teddy ‘Hospital Ball’ Bridgewater out there – you’re taking him off the field – and if Teddy plays on Sunday, don’t expect any passes more than 3 yards down the field, so Godwin might get a ton of WR screens – so take the over on receptions.

Godwin is like 9th on my list of concerns I’m surprised he’s even back this year at all I respect his grind to get back on the field.
Will he return to form idk I’d he worth high dollar idk..
He’s more of a risk of loss everytime he’s on the field.
I expect to see more from him in the AZ game..
Idk how we can use him and guarantee his health.

I know it’s a fan thing to go after coaches especially the offensive and defensive coordinators. Unfortunately our D Coordinator is our head coach who needs to retire. However, a lot of people are upset with our offensive coordinator. The offense isn’t performing and we want to blame the coach. Our offense is a mess. The offensive line is not what we are used to. Tristan Wirfs has been getting used by some defensive rushers. Never thought we would see that with Wirfs. We have two backup guards and our center has not been playing well either. To top it off Bucky Irving, Mike Evans and until last night Chris Godwin has been out. When at least 5 of your 11 starters are out it’s hard to be explosive. Grizzard is just trying to find ways to call plays that these guys can execute. Last night almost everything he called didn’t work. Is that his fault? Not entirely. The guys on the field have to take a lot of the blame.
