Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving

Joe sincerely wishes all readers (and the haters who are addicted to this here site) all the best today on one of Joe’s favorite holidays.

How can one not like Thanksgiving? It’s all about being a total slob and watching football. Awesome!

In Joe’s ranking of holidays, Joe gives Thanksgiving a strong No. 2, just a hair behind the Fourth of July.

On what other day is unbridled gluttony and drunkenness embraced and celebrated like it is on Thanksgiving, with football on the tube all day and night long?

What other day (and night) are you encouraged to eat like a hungry dog and drink like a thirsty fish while enjoying football from noon until nearly midnight?

The first thing we can be thankful for is that the NFC South stinks and it gives the sad Bucs a realistic shot of making the playoffs.

So, yeah, this is Joe’s kinda day. Food, alcohol and football. This is Thanksgiving Day.

There’s no real reason to ever get off the couch except to shovel more turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie down your gullet, or to grab an(other) adult beverage or, well, you know, take care of personal business that comes shortly after shoveling pounds of food in your grill and guzzling alcohol.

Joe has a lot for which to be thankful, but nothing more than Joe’s readers. If not for readers just like you, there’s no telling what Joe would be doing for a living — heck, maybe even doing time.

This here corner of the interwebs certainly would not exist without loyal, faithful readers. Joe never loses sight of that important fact.

Thank you all!

Now, bye-bye belt!

Go enjoy this awesome holiday! Joe might even break out some Eagle Rare.

Headache day…..just hope i can drink enough to wash it away

  3. Lt. Dan Says:

Wash – rinse and repeat at Lt. Dan’s house for this fine Thanksgiving! TV’s on all over the place, beer flowing like wine, smoked turkey on the Trager, grilled beef tenderloin and all the fixings! My beautiful Polynesian wife and five of her sisters prepping the sides and my four daughters pitching in wherever needed. About 25 guest’s in all. It’s good to be Lt Dan! Now…about the Cardinals and the upcoming Sunday business! Happy Thanksgiving Bucs fans!!

  4. TBBucFan Says:

Eagle Rare rules. Happy Thanksgiving to my fave website.

  5. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

Happy Thanksgiving to all. To the Joe’s, to the negatrolls and optitrolls alike. As a Bucs fan I am thankful for everyone I read here. We’re kind of like that dysfunctional yet happy family at the Thanksgiving table.

And the Saints, Falcons and Panthers fans sit at the kids table.

  6. PSL Bob Says:

I’ve already had 2 Thanksgiving dinners (yep, turkey and all the trimmings) at friends’ houses. One a week ago Saturday and one yesterday. Won’t bother to explain this unorthodox schedule, but suffice it to say, today I’m left alone to my own devices. No need for small talk or distractions from the TV. I’m in heaven. Hope everyone here in Bucs Nation has a wonderful day!

  7. DungyDance Says:

Lots to be thankful for…this here site, family and friends on Thanksgiving, and being a part of this great country. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

P.S., for the deep fryer aficionados, remember it hasn’t rained since Cavaricci pants and high top sneakers were a thing. So don’t overfill, keep the bird dry when starting, and conduct your operation outside in the yard. Good tidings!

  8. Kenton Smith Says:

Lt. Dan. 4 daughters. I’ve got 4 sons. All with wives with sway enough to ensure I won’t see a grandkid today. All will be with the wives families for today. So my wife and I will have to be all alone today. Too bad. As much football and adult beverages as I can consume today. Hopefully the Darlin feels bad for me not getting turkey today and serves something special. She’ll be cooking all day for all the kids and grandkids tomorrow. I will probably have to be the official taster today. Then tomorrow with the sons and grandkids everywhere I will have to be the official QB for our Thanksgiving football foray. Mick Jagger said it well. You can’t always get what you want, you get what you need… also Joe, I like Thanksgiving best. Fourth of July. Get outta here.

  9. Gbobucsfan Says:

Happy turkey day !!! Thankful we aren’t in the lost decade and are in first place in our division !!!

  10. Kenton Smith Says:

Speaking of that old Rolling Stones classic. All the kids and grandkids were introduced to that song early. 5 or 6 years old. I could say No!…but if I turned on that song they knew it was curtains for their infinite wants. They all still have a certain disdain for the song. Happy Thanksgiving to all of us.

  11. TampaTown Says:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Thanks so much to the Joe’s and Ira who all work so tirelessly to provide so much content here for all of us! So much to be thankful for especially health, my grandma always says if you have good health, you have everything. Now I’m going to test that by eating and drinking all day!

  12. Allen Lofton Says:

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE

  13. FortMyersDave Says:

I remember Madden handing out turkey legs to his players of the game back in the day, first for CBS, then for Fox, onto MNF and finally NBC in either Dallas or Detroit, depending on which game was the all NFC matchup. When my old man was alive, he didn’t care who won, as long as it was not Dallas. Good memories. Happy Thanksgiving, time to put the Bucs on the back burner for 48 hours. Go Bolts get us a Black Friday win up in Detroit.

  18. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

So nice the weather changed here in the Bay Area, just in time for Thanksgiving. Glad you’re not doing time Joe, as it would be hard to run Joebucsfan from jail. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Football, IPA’s and a little vape to make that third plate of food enjoyable.

  19. Paratrooper Buc Says:

  22. Robertg Says:

I’m thankful for the kindly friends who walk along my way,
And for the sunlit skies of blue that brighten every day.
I’m thankful for the health I have, and for the work I do,
And for the simple, happy times I get to share with you.
I’m thankful for the trees that grow, for flowers soon to bloom,
For quiet moments in my heart that chase away the gloom.
I’m grateful for the morning dew, the grass beneath my feet,
The laughter of a child, and all that makes life sweet.
I’m thankful when I don’t know why, for it gives me space to learn,
And thankful for the moments that help my spirit turn.
I’m thankful for the chance to grow, to make my spirit strong,
And for the grace to know that I have always belonged.
I’m thankful for the world outside, and all the beauty it can hold,
From sunrise to the sunset, a story to be told.
I’m thankful for the gift of life, so precious and so new,
And for the chance to simply be, and say, “Thank you”.

I think I might be slightly unique on this site. When I ponder Thanksgiving Day, I think of what God has given me, has given us.

The Mayflower Compact was a covenant signed around 1620 by all immigrants from England who were rebelling against the tyranny King James of England on 2 ships, on of which was the Mayflower. James was the typical communist/socialist king who mandated his citizens a caste system of slavery or death if you opposed him.

When the pilgrims came to America, their ships were blown by storms 400 miles north and landed upon Plymouth, they endured YEARS of starvation and ravages of disease. After about 2 years, God granted the pilgrims rain for their drought-ravaged crops, and lifted up this young colony, allowing them to survive. And because of that, the pilgrims offered thanks, and then the USA was founded, and our Constitution was drafted upon those principles.

When I think of Thanksgiving Day, I am reminded that the foundation of the United States of America is firmly rooted in God. So for me, Thanksgiving Day has always meant giving thanks to what I am amptly given, and given by God.

Our country would NOT be here unless those pilgrims made that fateful journey and knew this new colony was not possible…without God.

I don’t care if you all call me out for my belief in God – that’s your right. But what history elucidates is that is without faith, none of you or me would be here in America right now, and we would not be rooting for the Bucs.

    Think about it.

  24. buccintimeforchanges Says:

happy Thanksgiving to the Joe’s, IRA and everyone else on jbf.

  25. Aqualung Says:

Nothing happy about it when a talented roster is ruined by heinous criminally horrible coiching.

  26. heyjude Says:

Drunk Bucs Fan – Loved what you said and it is so true. Love the comments here. Everyone is like one big family disagreeing and agreeing. Yesterday the Bucs were a topic at my house. So many different views among the several adults. Oh, and a couple read everything on here along with the comments. They never comment though. It’s a small world after all. The Joes bringing us all together.
