Weather: This is a bit of a surprise coming from the good folks of AccuWeather.com. It seems the weather will be warmer and drier than expected earlier in the week. Now, the weather forecast shows temperatures in the 40s without rain. Tailgaters will break tables amid 44 degrees, though it will be windy. Look for the wind to be 23 mph. The winds will pick up by kickoff as the temperature remains steady at 44. The winds will have gusts up to 38 mph. Toward the end of the game, the temperature will begin dropping as it should be 38 degrees. However, the winds will not decrease. Memo to Josh Grizzard: This is not a game to bank on field goals. Six points please, six.

Odds: Per Hard Rock Bet, as of Saturday, Bucs +6 (-110); over/under 46 (-115); moneyline +225.

Referees: Alex Moore and his gang will work today’s Bucs-Bills game. This is helpful for the Bucs. Moore’s outfit has a record of 4-5 for road teams. Not great but Moore’s posse is in the middle of the pack of zebra crews’ records for the visiting team. Also not good: Moore’s gang throws roughly four more flags than the league average per game. So this is a flag-happy crew. The more zebras throw flags, the higher the chance of something weird happening or a team getting hosed.

Injuries:

(The NFL does not include players on injury reports who are not on a team’s active 53-man roster. Players on injured reserve or the practice squad are not on a team’s active 53-man roster.)

Outlook: For Joe, the game comes down to one thing: Can the Bucs run the ball. Last week was a promising sign that Sean Tucker got 53 yards on the ground against New England. That is the first time all season a running back has gained more than 50 yards rushing on the Patriots. That tells Joe the Bucs are on the cusp of breaking out (maybe just a little) with a ground game. The Bucs enter today’s game with Buffalo as the No. 25 rushing team in rushing yards per game. Overall, the Bucs are No. 27 in total rushing yards. In Buffalo’s last two losses, they have given up 210 yards (Atlanta) and 197 yards (Miami) on the ground. Buffalo’s defense gives up an average of 147.6 yards a game, third-worst in the NFL. So the simple conclusion here is if the Bucs don’t run the ball and run the ball well, they are in trouble. Also, like the old football cliche goes, if the Bucs are able to grind down the Buffalo defense with the run, that means star Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen is watching the game on the sidelines. Joe doesn’t care how damn good Allen is. He cannot make one completion, nor can he freight train SirVocea Dennis when he is standing on the sidelines. So for Joe, the game boils down to one three-word sentence: Run to win.

Fun facts: The Bills have a 12-game winning streak at 1 p.m. home games. The question is not IF the Bucs can run the ball.

The questions is WILL the Bucs run the ball.

The Bucs averaged five yards per carry against the best run defense in the NFL. But, in critical situations, such as the two point try and third and three and fourth and three with three timeouts after the final two minute warning, the Bucs acted like their runs were regularly getting stuffed.

Five times, including the two point try and third downs and fourth downs, the Bucs passed needing three yards or less. They failed all five times.

Running the ball on third down, the Bucs were three for three gaining first downs. The Bucs never ran the ball on fourth down or for a two point try.
