Bucs Potential Postseason Opponent In Clearer Focus

November 28th, 2025

Big games in the NFC yesterday. And since the Bucs are a heavy favorite to win the NFC South, Joe was paying attention.

The scary Dallas receiving corps helped them topple the Chiefs. That bumped the Cowboys’ record to 6-5-1. They’re a postseason longshot, but Joe always loves taking a moment to celebrate a Chefs loss. Kansas City is now 6-6.

The top three Wild Card contenders in the NFC are clear. Seattle is 8-3. Green Bay is 8-3-1. And San Francisco is 8-4.

If Tampa Bay makes the playoffs, they very likely will be the No. 4 seed. That means they would host the Wild Card team with the best record. Two of the three top contenders, Seattle and San Francisco, lost to the Bucs this season.

The Lions (7-5) are on the outside looking in with a brutal remaining schedule and two losses to the Packers. Joe hopes to see Dan Campbell crying about missing the playoffs.

Seattle has tough games against the Colts, Rams and 49ers remaining on their schedule. San Francisco has the Colts, Bears and Seahawks to play, but also a bye week after facing the bumbling Browns on Sunday.

The Packers have two games against their division-rival Bears (8-3), plus games against Packers, Ravens and Vikings.

If the Bucs reach the playoffs, they’ll be hosting a very seriously battle-tested team.

Get your sht together Bucs. Yes, Dallas has some serious receivers. Dont like either team. 🙂

  2. RagingBrisket Says:

It will not be competitive if they do host a playoff game. The way they are playing now I see them getting swept by the Panthers and struggling to win 2 more games down the stretch. The start of the season was all smoke and mirrors.

  3. Beeej Says:

Things were going FINE for us until Dan Campbell/Lions. He exposed us. My Dan Campbell voodoo doll will be in use!

  4. Jmarkbuc Says:

They should be worried about AZ and winning regular season games.

  5. Muscle Hampster Says:

Playoffs? You kidding.me? Playoffs? I just hope me can win a game
Typical Cardinals fan today: “Beat the Bucs on the road when we suck. Are you kidding me?” –Joe

  6. 813bucboi Says:

told folks DET wont make the playoffs!!!

any who, BUCS need to win out!!!..simnple as that!!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  7. jugheadfla1 Says:

We’ll see if Bucky can provide that spark that this offense is missing……otherwise we are more heavily favored to lose out then win the South

  8. MagicMike Says:

“The Packers have two games against their division-rival Bears (8-3), plus games against Packers, Ravens and Vikings.” So, the Packers play themselves? Is that a win or a loss?

  9. BucsFan81 Says:

The big question is if they make the playoffs.

  10. OrlandoBucFan Says:

Discussing potential playoff opponents now seems like you’re putting the cart before the horse. The Bucs do not look like a good team right now. I expect our offense to improve once we get our injured players back, but the defense is putrid.

  11. Outrigger Says:

The Bears will not win the NFC North. Their schedule has been a joke. They will lose twice to the Packers and be a wild card team. We can only hope to play them in the first round of the playoffs.

  12. Dan the Bucs Fan Says:

Atlanta and Carolins projected record is 7-10 our projected record is 12-5 you honestly think there’s a chance we don’t win NFC South? Our fanbase is just dumb. Boo who we got blown out in another time zone with almost every skill player injured.

Grow up we are fine Bucky comes back gives this offense some juice we are going close the season on a 6 game winning streak.

  13. DS Says:

After watching alota ball the buc d doesn’t stand a chance

  14. Badbucs Says:

Ever the optimist, huh Joe? Sneaking into the Playoffs with our tail between our legs and a lame duck coach to be mauled by a legitimate playoff team is nothing to dream about. Until Bowles is gone just keep all SB aspirations in your pocket. Please make a move Glazers. You’re wasting a window of opportunity stubbornly placing your loyalties with a 2nd rate coach and staff. Bite the bullet and buy a top tier coach. Thank you.

  15. ModHairKen Says:

Todd Bowles is now coaching the most important game of his career. If Brissett carves them up and beats them, the knives will be out. The Panthers will be emboldened. The Bucs will likely miss the playoffs.

If the Bucs win, the pressure will be off. For now.

I hope McCollum reads this site. I hope he apologized to his teammates for being “bored.”

I hope Diaby and Dennis start realizing they will be gone if they don’t make the playoffs.

I hope David pushes the younger players.

I hope Vea threatens to turn over their cars on their roofs if they loaf.

I hope Baker is having a miracle recovery.

I hope Irving comes back and burns the grass on a 70 yarder.

This is the most importantl game of the season for the team.

  16. FootBall1 Says:

Joe must admire your optimism!. Yes agree with a few other coments. Today’s team, I am not sure they can beat anybody, much less host a playoff game. Maybe that changes form here to the end of the season. However, after last week it is going to take a major turn around. Even if the offense gets all it’s weapons back, can they score enough points against really good teams with this defense?. Yes I can see the Bucs getting swept by Car. The Atl game scares me because Counsins feasts on the Bucs. With this team right now another 500 yd. game not unlikely. Maybe they can sweep the Saints, can they beat Miami and the Cardinals?. Yes , 8-9 certainly within this team’s grasp. The season that could have been

  17. FootBall1 Says:

sorry should be from here to the end of the season

  18. Josh Says:

Playoffs? Don’t talk about—playoffs?! You kidding me? Playoffs?! I just hope we can win a game…. – Jim Mora

  19. Josh Says:

Who honestly cares? You can steamroll the league’s basement dwellers, but the second a playoff-caliber juggernaut shows up, you get obliterated. None of it matters unless Baker starts baking like a caffeinated pastry wizard. Without that kind of chaos magic, this defense—and this whole squad—hasn’t got a snowball’s chance in the Florida Sun……

  20. Winny Testaverde Says:

A dirty half dozen games left in the regular season. Who will back in to the NFC South Crown? We hope The Bucs but they are on tilt currently. Can-do Canales and his pocket sized passer? Will Atlanta go on a mini-run with Kissing Cousins looking to secure his next big payday ( he’s the 3rd or 4th highest paid player in history! ) A 7-10 record with favorable tiebreakers could feasibly get done.

  21. Winny Testaverde Says:

Let’s not forget that it’s taken some Baker “moxie” and a lot of luck to win the division the last couple of years. Barely beating a hapless Panther team with an injured Baker. An incredibly athletic play/punt from the flash in the pan Camarda. Mike Evans with 2 long touchdowns to comeback vs the Panthers…being taken to the wire by The Rattler last year when Evans secured another 1000 yard season. It hasn’t been in dominating fashion…not by a long shot.

  22. Buddha Says:

Are the Lions fans booting Campbell out of town? 0 for 7 going for it on 4th down. Playing for a tie What have the Lions ever won? Packers always a bridesmaid never a bride. Coaches aren’t miracle workers. INJURIES matter When COEN was without Evans he didn’t win a game. Our rookie is out #1 receiver and a rookie 6th round draft choice is #2. and #1 running back has miss 7 games after being 3-1 when he played This isn’t the team we thought it would it would be because the players actually on the field aren’t the ones we thought would be. Last year our offensive line was intact for all but three games

  23. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Obviously the odds are huge we win the South and get a home playoff game,, I would agree that Bears coming to our place is most probable but Seahawks could as well,,, with our team back in tact and fresh legs for a lot of guys we move on and w any luck play another home game against the #6 or away against #2 or 3 ,,, the unlucky would be #1,2,3 all win would put us against Rams ,, we will go into the playoffs healthy winning 5 or the last 6

  24. LANshark Says:

With this defense, one and done.

  25. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

I think the Bucs only postseason opponent will be on Madden football and not in real life this year.

    Prove me wrong, Bucs.

I don’t even have confidence that we can beat the Cards this weekend.

  26. El hefe Says:

If Dallas keeps winning the only logical answer is they sacrificed the kneeland kid

  27. Aqualung Says:

    ROTFLMAO

    Cue Jim Mora.

“Playoffs! Playoffs?! Don’t talk to me about playoffs!”

  28. infomeplease Says:

This team is regressing at a high speed! If they don’t regroup and fix the O-Line, Special Teams, and especially the Defense, wins will be hard to come by no matter what quality team they are playing. This responsibility is that of the Head Coach! He always tries to pass his responsibility to the team captains. A real HC would have taken action long ago… Not make excuses! Not accept 3 consecutive losses of winnable games! He must do better!!!!!!!!

  29. adam from ny Says:

if we get that playoff home game, ill take green bay or san fran…

    i’ll go with a team we won’t be playing twice…that’s green bay…

next choice, give me SF again…

    no more seattle this year

  30. adam from ny Says:

can AI please put jim mora in a bucs cap…

    doing his iconic “playoff’s rant”…

    it would be so good

  31. Jeff Says:

Bucs can’t beat any of those teams. “But they beat SF before” says Homer Yucs’ fans. SF was playing with their backup QB. Purdy OWNS clueless Todd. Fire Clueless Todd!

  32. Bucs Guy Says:

Packers don’t play the Packers in one of their remaining games, but they do play the Denver Broncos.

  33. Miller5252 Says:

I think we all are seeing the same thing here. The drop in Tampas play has been really bad. If Tampa wins their division, any playoff team coming in is playing better than the Bucs right now. If Bowles and the Bucs don’t fix anything, it’ll be another blowout loss on prime time. Maybe when Dean, Reddick and Kancy come back the team will be a lot better and start shutting offenses down

  34. BigZ Says:

This is the same Bucs team as the last three years. They have actually become boring. It speaks volumes when you are glad the schedule gets easy so an average team can squeak into the playoffs and lose in the first round. What a weak mindset. Whats the point? Wouldn’t you want to face tough competition and see how you fair? Oh, we did and lost.

Our mediocrity starts with Jason and Todd.

There was the lost decade, now it’s the mediocre decade.

  35. Pewter Power Says:

Jason Licht has become the most delusional general manager in the NFL. I just to think Lee was being dramatic but I think you get your point across to the Licht house of horrors better when your podcast kills them with facts. His roster building plan is trash. Anyone can go all in when they get the best quarterback in the NFL but to not realize what a pass rusher can do for your suspect secondary is criminal

  36. Tony Says:

I’d be shocked if they made it out of the first round. All of the teams in the playoff contention are very capable of beating them.

  37. Tony Says:

Atlanta might even beat them now. With Cousins in there he might have a 400 yard day & like 4 TDs on them. Of course Cousins looks good against them, too!

  38. Pewter Power Says:

Doesn’t matter who we face. Licht and Bowles value saving money to resign mediocre players just because he drafted them and he’ll dip into free agency to sign more cheap mediocre free agents and rely on udfa’s just to accomplish that foolish goal even if they can’t ever get out of the first round of the playoffs

  39. SBucs Says:

No matter who it it will be Todd guarantees his Bucs will not be prepared for the eighteenth time this season.

  40. heyjude Says:

The Bucs can be there at the end. We know how they get through from the past. Ya, could be a wild card. The Lions won’t have Amon-Ra St. Brown for this upcoming game, which is huge for them. Keeping hole alive, anything can happen now. Go Bucs!

  41. Larrd Says:

Any of those teams would beat the Bucs this week.

  42. Capt.Tim Says:

The Bucs aren’t contenders. They are a good team, but still missing some of their key talent.
Everyone is trashing our secondary. Last year it was deserved. This year, it isn’t.
Our Cornerbacks have been very good most of the year.
    Including Zyon.
Don’t think so? Then suit up, and see how long you can cover a world class sprinter, who has all the time in the world to shake you.

    No one can do that.

The problem this year is the obvious one. The one Joe posted about ad Nausem prior to the start of the Season.
    WE CANT PRESSURE THE QB.

In today’s Pass happy NFL, if you can’t rush the passer- you won’t best the best teams.
Licht has had a few swings and misses, trying to get a pass rusher.
Noah Spence. Joe Tryon S. Logan Hall, among others.
    Meybe Reddick could have helped.

We have to get a pass rusher, to complete our defense.
No rings in our future until we do.
    It’s a Glaring fault

  43. Jwg813 Says:

Bucs looked atrocious last week. They better get their shiiit together or Carolina will win out. They have to do an about face which I dont see happening. Todd Bowles does now seem like the problem. I didn’t want to hate on him.before, but now its obvious that coaching us the problem. How can we have a defensive guru for a coach and a scrappy defense at the same time. Our D sucks.
