Baker Mayfield, Bucs On The Cusp Of NFL History

November 7th, 2025

Clutch.

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to this. If it does, Joe will still celebrate with a cold beer.

There is a reason Baker Mayfield is getting some run for NFL MVP this season. It is because the dude has icewater in his veins.

Some two-thirds of the Bucs’ wins came on the shoulders of Mayfield when the Bucs needed him most, points out Jenna Laine of ESPN. And that’s why he still could be the NFL MVP.

In fact, Mayfield is one heroic win away from NFL history.

QB stat to know: Mayfield, who has generated quite a bit of MVP buzz, has led four game-winning drives in the final minute against the Falcons, Texans, Jets and Seahawks. One more will give him and the Bucs the most in a season in NFL history.

Joe hopes it doesn’t come to that. Why? A come-from-behind win in the final minute means the Bucs have to be trailing near the end of the game.

Who wants to see the Bucs trailing in the final minute of a game? Not Joe!

Rather, Joe hopes Mayfield gives Joe and all Bucs fans a laugher Sunday against a damn good team. That will also send a message to the rest of the league: When it comes to playing the Bucs, FAFO.

FAFO? Had never heard that acronym before Joe. I’m obviously not well-versed in ‘biker-speak & meme culture’. And now folks are even saying it’s a new parenting trend. Huh?

BTW, the YouTube version by Full Metal Patriot is rather, uhhh, energetic. Some of the special effects are quite unique (to put it mildly).

I am right with you, hoping that it isn’t down to the wire, but if it’s a Bucs win, that is okay and we will take it.

Liked Laine’s take but not Moody’s “Fantasy Nugget” about what the Bucs should do with Bucky. The Bucs are not considering trading Bucky.

  3. Lou. Says:

Powerful teams build up substantial leads whenever they can, then coast. Not easy to do, but a tell sign for contenders.

Will help if Baker can restart the O; is crucial for Bowles to keep pushing the D.

A Cardiac win is better than a loss…but whether we win or not this week, we’re still good.

I think after this game we’ll be alright. An extra week for our injured players to heal up. If we can win, things will start getting much better…barring more injuries.

I think Bucs roll on Sunday.

Pats not as fresh, on the road and looking ahead to a Thursday divisional game.

Maye gonna see some looks he has never seen from Bowles D.

    Go Bucs!
