Play calls need to stay consistent and balance. Take what they give them, don’t force anything, and keep them guessing. Crazy its been 7 weeks since we’ve seen that. Defense can’t get any worse can they? Its only up from there but lose today and its Mayhem for bucs fans and organization as a whole.

That holding call is exactly why they should review every play constantly throughout the game. No reason they can’t do that and call down to the field to have a look at something or overturn something. It can be done with today’s technology and keep the game flowing.
Get the call right. That should be the only objective. None of this BS where you have to throw a challenge flag and lose a timeout if it’s not correct. And no calls should be off limits because you don’t want to hurt a referees feelings.

Reddick makes a huge difference in this a defense. They’re winning line of scrimmage because of him. He’s getting doubled while Vea is doubled. Because he can drop into coverage they don’t know to account for him which leads to disguised blitzes. That’s an effective vintage Bowles.

For the rest of this game, and possibly season, as the Bucs score a touchdown, we should always look for a flag because there is one more often than not. If the Bucs start to run away with the game, the refs will slack off on the penalties against the Bucs knowing that they cant keep the Cardinals in the game any longer.

The time out was the correct call.
The issue was the call after the time out, to sit back in that soft zone and not bring pressure after you’ve been getting sacks and stopping drives. Just flat out stupid by Bowles to not bring pressure when it matters most. Just flat out stupid.

How do you as Todd Bowles, see that every single time this game you bring pressure, real pressure, those ‘exotic’ blitzes, you get huge pressure and stops — then when it matters most, you throw that out the window, only send 4, with the same results we ALWAYS see in that situation. Isn’t there a point in time where you start to see the results that come from calling that soft garbage, in particular in key situations? How does it happen over and over and over again? The Cards give up more sacks than anyone, and in a key situation, you play the softest defense you got. Just flat out stupid.

Reffing is complete nonsense, that is true, but that call was changed by replay assist, not the guys on the field, the replay showed very clearly that no one was in the area, the alleged receiver was on the other side of 3 lineman, and over 5 yards away, the ball could not have got there.
Not that it matters since Bowles soft defense a couple of plays later bailed them out.

There’s a reason that Coen switched to the short passing game, and that’s when Baker’s play really took off. Baker is not a good deep ball thrower, he’s got plenty of arm, but is too inconsistent. Need to get him more short routes where he excels and stop trying to push the ball down the field. Last years offense was literally on of the best in the NFL, all based off the short passing game, and this year is way too much trying to get deep all the time with very very little results. Come on.

I’m so over this defense. There are receivers 10 yards and in wide open all the time. There are receivers doing crossing routes or 15 yd outs- over the linebackers and under the safeties with no one around them for 8 yards constantly.
It is not the players, it is the scheme. Obviously some of the players can be upgraded, but it is the scheme. Yes they’ve only given up 10 points but their pass defense sucks for years with very good players in the defensive backfield.
It is the main reason they simply cannot get off the field on third down, even if it is third and 12, a lot of the time. Way too much.
And of course it all starts with a pass rush from a front 4. This Coach claims year after year how unnecessary it is. Over it. He needs to go. I don’t care if they win out.

Bowles is a better play caller than our edge rush is. I blame Licht more, he has picked a lot of early defensive linemen and not getting any production. Be average and then we can talk about Bowles. The secondary is hosed because the edge rush is abysmal. It’s painful to watch. I’d rather just play 8DBs and Vita up front.
