Will Lavonte David want to play next season and further improve his Hall of Fame résumé?
That’s unclear, but David sure didn’t sound like a guy closing out a storied career during his talk this week on The Richard Sherman Podcast.
David joined his 2021 Bucs teammate and was very upbeat about his health. “Body feeling good,” David said.
He went on to explain how the bye week rejuvenated him but he still spent time working fine tuning his body.
“You know, a guy my age, I need it all. But [the bye] definitely felt good. I’m ready to get back to it,” he added.
Long seasons require long preparation, per David. “You may have a good month at max [in the offseason to have a little fun and do what you have to do.”
“The main goal, and that’s being the best athlete I can be. I’ll have time to play when I retire but, you know, right now while I’m in the game, I just try to put my best foot forward and be the best player.”
As for more rest this season, David says that’s on the table because he sees great hunger among his Tampa Bay teammates.
“Hopefully lead the NFC and get us a bye week,” David said.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to watch him play for my team, and I’ll be forever grateful. The way that he could slice through the wash of players determined to block him and make a TFL was special. Alas, his hips are now stiff and his legs look heavy, but I’m hoping that he can ball out this season and retire a two-time Superbowl champion. I can’t wait till Sunday! I’ll be there for the first time since 2017! GO BUCS!!!

Kyler Murray is placed on IR and will miss the next 4 games…..:
Bucs play Cardinals on his 4th game / week 13 so we won’t have to prepare for crazy mobility….
We’ll gameplan against Brissette who is playing decent right now…
