Baker Mayfield’s Profane Radio Rant

November 15th, 2025

A little Saturday night fun to get you fired up for Sunday’s clash in Buffalo.

Unlike Tom Brady, Baker Mayfield is kind enough to do a live weekly postgame interview for the Buccaneers Radio Network.

It’s minutes after the game. Emotions are running.

Last Sunday, after the gut-punch loss to the Patriots at The Licht House — coming off a bye week — Mayfield did his diligence with interviewer TJ Rives.

Mayfield was overflowing with frustration.

“That’s a good team that we just played, but quite frankly, we didn’t do nearly a good enough job on the fundamental things,” Mayfield said. “And when you play a good team like that, I’ve said that multiple times, they’re gonna take advantage of it. So we just have to execute in critical moments better. And at some point these players need to get absolutely sick of it and they need to take accountability for it and get it fu*k’n fixed.”

Fun times.

“We just got beat on a twist. Same sh*t that we put on tape in the past and didn’t do it again,” Mayfield said. “So we gotta get it fixed,”

“That’s just an excuse,” Mayfield said. “We’re too good. This locker room has too many guys that understand how to win, how to do things right to come out here flat.”

Joe loves uncensored Baker.

Will his fire and anger matter against Buffalo?

Soft and weak, just like Todd’s ever growing gut.

  2. buc4evr Says:

Nice, but this team does not know how to win, especially on defense. With the exception of three or four players, the defense is soft, weak and at times just stupid. Watching Todd and his defensive plays and the LBs and Secondary having massive brain farts, this is not a top team. Jason is not as wonderful drafting and putting together a team as everyone believes, no edge rush for years…..

  3. HeartyDickerson Says:

It was very telling when, on this podcast, the Joes said after the Saints victory there was very little celebrating or enthusiasm.

Baker seems to be implying what many fans have suspected – this is a very mild-mannered team with a bunch of soft-spoken guys.

In a violent sport like football, passion and intensity are vital. The Bucs, like their HC, don’t seem to possess much of either. Maybe Licht’s strategy of only drafting Cub Scouts is coming back to bite him.

  4. Oscar Says:

Everyone on the team should be pissed. As far as I’ve heard, he’s the only one so far that’s taken any personal responsibility. He admitted that it starts with him as he always does. Maybe others need to do the same. He admits when he misses some throws or makes bad decisions and he does so citing specific instances. So no one should be mad at him for speaking out. He’s one of the leaders and that’s what he’s supposed to do.

  5. David Says:

I am an optimist and firmly believe after another week or two they will get some players back. They will make a good playoff run heading down the stretch but… If 1 of their top 3 receivers and Bucky and some interior lineman don’t get healthy ASAP, the season is going to end up a bust.

  6. orlbucfan Says:

    How big is SB’s gut?

  7. Durango 95 Says:

Commonplace for a Todd Bowles led football team. That’s just the way it is. If you haven’t noticed it by now, you never will. Except for a few of you that don’t want to see it. But, If you do like .500 football then Todd’s your man.

  8. Whatevs Says:

    OBF is back. Woo hoo

Say goodbye to Baker folks. He will not want to play for Sleepy Todd and Widdle Jason Draft Picks once this contract is up. Baker has too much fire to waste on this mediocre franchise. Baker wants to play for killers, dudes that want to win playoff games, not the NFC South champions or Draft Rings.

  9. TampaBayBucFan Says:

Baker needs to channel some of that anger into a couple of third down scrambles.

Our offense began to suffer greatly when he stopped running.

  10. Football one Says:

Yes Baker unplugged. He is dead on no excuses about being flat crazy

  11. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

I wonder if Baker takes this same intensity with him reviewing his own film. Wonder what he says when he rewatches reps where he’s locked in on Egbuka, while Chaad/Otton/Johnson are beating their coverage/man. All this fire is good, but means nothing if y’aint cookin

  12. Smashsquatch Says:

It fu*k’n better matter! Bucs are on the precipitous of irrelevance and need a big win to right the ship. Waiting for the calvary is the kiss of death. All those come from behind wins has me thinking this is a .500 ball club. A win tomorrow changes that perception.

I would like names on that accountability bulletin that’s supposedly in the Bucs locker room. Which players aren’t dialed in on their jobs or making efforts to get better each week? Who is making the same mistakes over and over again? Name and shame.

Weather gonna be interesting in Orchard Park tomorrow. Chance of snow at 2pm. Windy…

  18. Buc1987 Says:

    Whatevs…. Mayfield’s contract is up in 2027.

  19. St.Pete Salty Buc Says:

Super Bowl pretender NFC South paper champion talk.

  20. Buc king Says:

We need to catch a bills who just got smoked by the worst team in the nfl.
    We need this win

  21. Bill in Seminole Says:

Our playoff chances and home field advantage will be decided by the last six games of the season. Even if we lose the next two to two very tough opponents we finish the season; Arizona, New Orleans, Atlanta, Carolina, Miami, and Carolina again.

All winnable. And plenty of time for Bucky to come back.

  22. Defense Rules Says:

Don’t like this side of Baker. Frustration is unbecoming of a leader.

His performances in these past 3 games (where we’re 1-2) hasn’t nearly been at the same level as it was in the first 6 games. And we all know why: he’s been playing hurt, he’s lost several weapons & his OLine has had to play musical chairs.

All that has obviously hurt his own individual performances, and that’s sure to be frustrating to a top competitor like Baker. But a good leader has to keep his frustrations in check, and continue best he can to inspire those around him. MAYBE we’ve got guys trying TOO HARD right now to make plays, and that’s impacting our overall performances.

  23. Esteban85 Says:

Losing Bredeson is a bigger deal than we thought. He’s a solid glue piece on that line and Jordan is what he is, a 3rd or 4th stringer.

  24. Defense Rules Says:

Whatevs … ‘Say goodbye to Baker folks.’

You’re not even in the ballpark Whatevs. Baker LOVES this team, and they LOVE him. And it’s HERE that he’s played the best football of his career. He’ll be paid very well for his talent, but he’s not going anywhere else.

  25. Defense Rules Says:

Esteban85 … ‘Losing Bredeson is a bigger deal than we thought.’

I’ve thought exactly the same thing since he went down at the start of the Patriots game. I’m convinced losing him is the big reason we didn’t run more. Hopefully he’s a quick healer.

  26. DBS Says:

Looks like waterlung lost one name and came up with another.

  27. Rod Munch Says:

Defense gave you the ball three times a row in the 4th quarter with a chance to take the lead and you turned it into zero points. You got happy feet, started to try to scramble at times when you did have blocking instead of keeping your eyes down field.

The one player he should have called out by name was Shepard, that idiot and his stupid offensive PI pick was one of the dumbest penalties you could do, he didn’t even try to make it not look like a pick, and that killed the Bucs best chance to get points.

To be clear I have no issues with Baker saying what he said – beats last year when he was just laughing stuff off. Also remarkable turnaround from a few weeks ago when he was eager to tell everyone how great he was (they call it dawg, but I’ve always been the same).

Anywho, watching some ALL22, I don’t think Baker played poorly, he just wasn’t special either. The Patriots, vs that injured Bucs team, was just the better team. Said it on Sunday, and nothing I’ve seen changes my mind on this, but give me Bucky back, and either a healthy Godwin or Evans and I’m certain the Bucs win that game. That’s why I’m not too down on it – Bucs just ran out of personnel.
