Baker Mayfield Passing Chart Week 10

November 12th, 2025

Game 9 passing chart revealed.

The stats could be worse.

As usual, the Bucs didn’t try much to push the ball past 20 yards from the line of scrimmage on Sunday — only twice.

One Baker Mayfield pass was incomplete. One went for a touchdown. That’s it. The Bucs against the Patriots attempted only two passes farther than 20 yards past the line of scrimmage.

The one thing that jumps out at Joe about Mayfield’s passing chart from NextGen Stats is he attempted nine passes either near the hashmarks or between the hashmarks. Of those seven, Mayfield connected on five.

It may just be a one-off thing, but it appeared Mayfield struggled more over the middle than in any other area of the field against the Patriots.

  1. Defense Rules Says:

Wasn’t Baker’s most impressive day, but he did enough IMO for us to win. Our defense blew it by allowing a 72 yd passing TD, a 55 yd running TD & another 69 yd running TD. Our offense scored yet another TD in the last minute, and that would’ve been enough IF Pats had scored 1 less TD. If I understood the announcers right, Baker would’ve set NFL history if the Pats had scored 1 less TD by leading us to our FIFTH 4th-qtr comeback for a win in the last minute of a game. COULDA – WOULDA -SHOULDA huh.

I thought our Run Game was quite good on the day (21 runs – 113 yds – 5.4 YPC), with Sean Tucker (9 carries – 53 yds – 5.9 YPC) and Rachaad White (10 carries – 38 yds – 3.8 YPC) sharing the load. Yet we only ran it on 32% of our plays, and it might’ve helped to run it more.

Our Passing Game was decent on the day (28-of-43 … 65.1% … for 273 yds … 9.8 YPR … with 3 TDs, 2 sacks). But Baker struggled in 3rd down passing situations, going 4-for-9 but only picking up 2 first downs (also got sacked on a 3rd down). Bucs were 3-for-3 running for a first down Sunday.

  2. Todd Says:

BAKER IS HURT, and until that changes you will see more Losses than WIns. Heck play Bridgewater for the next 4 games, IF and only IF a month would get Baker healthy.

  3. PSL Bob Says:

Todd, no way Baker sits. It’s just not in his DNA.

  4. BucU Says:

“”BAKER IS HURT, and until that changes you will see more Losses than WIns.””

There’s absolutely no question he’s hurt and hurt bad. 0 rushing attempts last 3 games says it all. This offense is crippled now because of it. The Oline has turned into garbage further hindering this mess. Luckily we have a mastermind defensive HC who will have his relatively healthy defense step up to compensate for the offensive issues. LOL.

  5. heyjude Says:

Baker may be hurt and rehabbing. Agreed, something is a little off.

Defense Rules – Ya, we were close to winning. It is a would of, could of now.

Baker has it going and when he is hot, he is hot. And PSL is right, not in his DNA to sit out. We don’t know much about what is going on with Teddy, and Trask was not the answer. Possibly, next draft we do get another QB that Baker can mentor and who could step in successfully within the coming years. Hey, Tom Brady and others were drafted at the end and did well. You never know.

  6. Kenton Smith Says:

Baker won’t sit. Bridgewater can start and can win if Baker can’t stand. Also, where in the heck is Aqualung?

  7. 813bucboi Says:

Defense gave up big plays but they also provided 3 straight stops in the 4th quarter and the offense did nothing with them…

    it is what it is….

    on to BUF!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“If I understood the announcers right, Baker would’ve set NFL history if the Pats had scored 1 less TD by leading us to our FIFTH 4th-qtr comeback for a win in the last minute of a game. COULDA – WOULDA -SHOULDA huh.”

    Patriots 2nd half possesions:

    -TD to go up 21-10
    -Punt
    -Turnover on downs
    -Punt
    -INT
    -TD to make it 28-16

    Bucs offense second half possessions

    -Punt
-TD to bring it to 21-16
    -Punt
    -Punt
    -Turnover on downs
    -TD to make it 28-23

    Ball game.

There’s a whole lot of shoulda, coulda, woulda to go around. The offense playing “well” is relative I guess. For all the talk of killer instinct, to start the game offensively, score, then get the ball back from our defense forcing punts twice in a row before the end of the 1st qtr w/o New England scoring is more shoulda, coulda, woulda.

-We had a net of 32 yards on those 3 combined drives/12 total plays after our opening score that in the first qtr and opened up in the 2nd qtr all ending in punts.

-After the first Tez Johnson TD in the 3rd quarter our offense had 10 net yards on it’s next two drives/9 total plays.

This is the type of behavior we’ve had to “comeback” from, yes you don’t want your defense giving up the booty, but willfully ignoring the role of the offense being stuck in the mud for at least 21 plays in 5 different drives is a choice.

42 yards on 21 combined plays that made up 5 of our 11 total drives. Add our other drive that ended in a punt you’ve got 6 of 11 drives running 26 plays for a net of 49 yards and 0 points all ending in punts.

  9. ChiBuc Says:

What jumps out to me, Joe, are the 11 attempts at or behind the LOS. Not only didn’t we look beyond 20 yards, almost 25% of Baker’s attempts didn’t look beyond the LOS. IMO, this is a clear indictment to a lack of creativity. I mean how can you be creative with this nearsighted approach where you can’t see beyond 20 yds downfall.

Hence why Licht should got off his @$$ and traded for a Meyers

  10. 813bucboi Says:

    WBL

    BINGO!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  11. Chuckys Bucs Says:

25% of passes at or behind the line of scrimmage. Terrible play calling against a fundamentally sound defense.

  12. Chuckys Bucs Says:

Are you guys high!? Play Bridgewater? That’s a guaranteed loss. Must be holdover Trask fans calling for dumb stuff like that.

  13. Corbyn Rush Says:

Baker may be mildly hurt, but his play was good enough, the offensive line played bad in pass protection, Wirfs in particular. Baker didn’t run because there was a spy on most plays, pocket was being collapsed. Defense was up and down, and gave up a big play when it mattered most. Of all of these things, Todd Bowles was out coached up and down, and this is the biggest factor in the outcome of the game.

  14. LANshark Says:

Poor play calling, partly because our O-Line was like a wet paper bag on pass pro most of the game. You cannot throw downfield in less than 2.5 seconds. Tez runs a 4.2 40 yard dash – in 2 seconds he get’s max 20 yards, and that’s with no moves. Simple math guys.

  15. unbelievable Says:

@DR – I agree. Also the playcalling on 3rd down was atrocious.

These passes behind the LOS with zero blockers in front are mind numbingly stupid. Opposing defenses have been all over them for weeks yet Grizzard keeps calling them. A Coen, he is not.

  16. Oscar Says:

The offense played well enough to win and Baker in particular played well and took what the defense allowed and protected the ball and made some very good throws. That’s what so many were clamoring last year for him to do so that by so doing you keep your team in the game. He has a whopping 3 turnovers on the season, 2 interceptions and one lost fumble, really only 1 interception if you take away the one against the Lions that wasn’t an interception. That philosophy would work really well if the defense could be trusted. His numbers are very similar to Jalen Hurts’ numbers. Hurts has 2 turnovers I believe. So that philosophy works for the Eagles because they have the defense.

  17. Pmike Says:

Yeah agreed. Re watching the game, both sides of the ball played well enough. We lost because we gave up the big plays. Take those plays out and we whoop the Pats

  18. Oscar Says:

Baker is getting healthier at least as far as any impact on his throwing. He couldn’t have made that throw to Tez at the end if he was significantly compromised. As far as the running, it’s probably a combination of things. I’m sure he’s still hurting somewhat but I also think maybe he’s been told to dial it back for awhile.

  19. Oscar Says:

As far as Baker speaking out after the game, whether or not you think it was appropriate for him to do so, he must have seen some things on the field that should not have happened. Mental errors and so forth that maybe impacted the outcome of the plays. Something got under his skin for sure and Bowles certainly didn’t disagree with him. Maybe some needed a good kick in the arse.

  20. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“The offense played well enough to win and Baker in particular played well and took what the defense allowed and protected the ball and made some very good throws.”

You’ve got to be watching the game from an alternate universe where all this makes sense, good throws and well enough to win?

We punted the ball on 54% of our possessions and just like I said in the live game thread, people are going to take that final Tez TD like it happened when the game was still on the line and here we are.

48 points in our last 3 games, start throwing averages around that’s 16 PPG and we had to scratch & claw for that in about 3.75 quarters of our last game.

The Jalen Hurts comp is just unnecessary

  21. Ed Says:

The throws that were sideways to either side of the LOS were all wasted plays. New England was right there at the catch point and ball catcher immediately tackled. Those plays are a “wing and a prayer”. They only work if the defense is over committing to a blitz package and you hit the target with no one around them.

The wide receiver quick pass isn’t working because the guys catching it aren’t fast. That play worked when Chris Godwin was healthy because he was one on one when Mike was on the field.

Cross it out of the playbook and figure out how to get the ball to Tez on the move. He’s the only Bucs now who can make a tackler miss.

  22. Oscar Says:

Specifically point out the bad throws and the wide open receivers he missed when he wasn’t being mugged. I’m not judging his play by the stat line. I re watched the game as well as the all22 and from what I saw, he did his job. He protected the ball. If the defense had just not given up one of the explosive plays of over 50 yards that went for a td, the Bucs would’ve been in position to possibly win that game. Also explain why the Jalen Hurts comp is irrelevant. He plays very conservatively and protects the ball which is what Baker is doing right now. That works for the Eagles. They won their last game against the Packers 10-7. So the defense did the job holding the Packers to 7 points and Hurts even lost a fumble in that game. Our defense can’t do that right now. This conservative play we are seeing right now is partly what Bowles and even a large part of the fan base wants and is also made necessary by the condition of the offensive line and all the injuries at the skill positions. If they took more chances and it resulted in more turnovers , most would bitch about that including you!

  23. Oscar Says:

That last post is in response to Warren Brooks Lynch

Same exact thing against Detroit and New Orleans too, yet Grizzard keeps doing it. No one to block in front of them, but hey let’s keep running it and failing on 3rd down!
