Baker Mayfield “Moved Around Perfectly”

November 28th, 2025

Expect Buccaneers franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield to start Sunday against the woeful Cardinals, losers of eight of their last nine games.

Mayfield is dealing with a sprained left shoulder but made great progress this week and “moved around perfectly” today, per Todd Bowles.

So it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know Mayfield will be back on the field Sunday from the opening kickoff at The Licht House. Mayfield left Sunday night’s game at halftime, turning the ball over to uninspiring Teddy Bridgewater, who got his first legitimate backup QB action of the season.

Now does this mean Mayfield will be close to 100 percent on Sunday? That’s 100 percent unclear.

It’s not his throwing arm so I am sure he will be okay. The smartest move Bowles had all season was to pull him after that atrocious first half and not risk getting him hurt even more

  2. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

Playing against the Bucs right now is just what an ailing team needs to get back on track…

Hopefully I’m wrong, but I see 6-6 in our future.

  3. TampaBayBucFan Says:

Hopefully, he can continue to make those 3 yard tosses on 3rd & 5……

  4. garbs65 Says:

Moving around is not the concern. We need his scrambling/running ability and if he can’t take a hit…he’s not as effective.

  5. OneAndThree Says:

We will know right away if he is actually healthy or not.

While Baker is an astronomical upgrade over Bilgewater, it likely is not enough.

The wide open Swiss cheese worst pass defense in the NFL is going to sink the ship again.

There is no way to overcome such a glaring weakness and we do not have a HC or DC capable of fixing it.

Fire Bowles immediately after this loss.

We have REALLY lowered the bar for a ” franchise QB” is ….but if course he will play against Brissett and the 3-8 Cardinals. Funny thing is, his 3 years here he is below.500 outside the division, vs great, good, average and poor teams. But this should be a automatic W. If they win 9-6 he will go down on Bucs lore. If the streaky journeyman plays well as journeyman do from time to time, his fans will try to put him in Canton at halftime. If he sucks because that’s what he’s been most of his career, he can fall on being ” hurt”

    “Moved around perfectly”.

    WTF does that mean???

I mean, pardon my french, but seriously.

The guy can move around perfectly, but if his shoulder isn’t properly and completely healed it doesn’t mean squat the first time it takes a serious hit.

We all get it that Baker’s the kind of guy who would drag himself onto the field with one hand if he had a broken arm and two broken legs. That kind of Never Say Die spirit is why the locker room and so many fans respect him.

We still have a shot at the playoffs.

$crew this “moved around perfectly”. Either his shoulder is healed or it isn’t. That’s all that matters.

If it isn’t, Teddy and a solid performance by our defense will win this one.

We need a fully healed Baker for the playoffs.

  8. Kgh4life Says:

Baker should sit. If the Bucs can’t beat the Cardinals then we got bigger problems.

  9. MikeBuc Says:

If he is moving around perfectly thats a GREAT reason to leave him on the bench, A baker that feels he is fine is going to put himself in a position he could get seriously hurt. Only takes one sack for the end to the season

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

I would rest Baker. That shoulder is not even halfway healed. Sure, you can give him a shot. But why risk further injury? Be smart. Lets see what our Backup has.
