Another Bucs Great Blasts Antoine Winfield Play
November 13th, 2025
Without the benefit of All-22 film, retired Bucs tight end and current team radio analyst Dave Moore blasted Antoine Winfield for his play leading to a crushing touchdown for the Patriots on Sunday.
Moore went there a few minutes after the game.
Bucs legend Rondé Barber, after watching the game film, spanked Winfield on his WFLA-TV streaming show, aka The Rondé Barber Show.
Barber sounded horrified.
“I mean, I love Antoine; I don’t know what Antoine Winfield, Jr. was doing on that last touchdown,” Barber said. “He clearly has contain. He has to turn the play back to his defenders on the inside and somehow he decides to spin back inside of the blocker that’s coming to the edge and [the running back] just bounces outside and runs away from Lavonte [David]. And next thing you know it’s a game-sealing touchdown. … Don’t mess up for your team. Do your job, basically.”
You can re-read Barber’s words and watch Winfield’s play below.
Barber went on to say the Bucs are not a great team yet because a great team wouldn’t do the things the Bucs have done this year. That’s a broad statement, but that’s how Barber phrased it, citing near losses to inferior teams like the Texans, Falcons and Jets.
A successful run in the NFL might look ugly but the end result is what matters. The @Patriots OL and TE get it done to spring Henderson for a long TD run to seal the game against the Bucs. Great work upfront. pic.twitter.com/iAqncysTp7

He’s absolutely correct. 31 has contain. If he simply plays that gap and doesn’t even touch henderson, it likely makes Henderson cut up which would delay long enough to allow david the op to clean it up.
The broader point is also well taken – the special teams problems earlier in the year and now these 7th grade defensive lapses.
I’ve been a big fan of Bowles evolution this season with game mgmt and while ppl can downplay the injuries they do matter. But these mental errors by professionals and esp from vet players is concerning long term.
November 13th, 2025 at 8:29 am
He got his bag and now he’s JAG it seems.
Very disappointing.
November 13th, 2025 at 8:36 am
Fans will bypass the 11 guys whiffing throughout this clip and go straight to blaming Bowles and the scheme.
The call is fine, but LVD was the playside LBer and the last line of defense on this rep, and his miss on the tackle even prevented Dennis from washing down and taking the pursuit angle.
I’m not going to knock Winfield for getting nullfied by a DT playing FB. That would be stupid imo. Khyrsis Tonga is 335lbs after he takes a crap in the morning, and moves like he’s moving in this clip him washing out a 5’9/5’10 safety that he easily outweighs by at least 100lbs isn’t some shocking revelation.
November 13th, 2025 at 8:37 am
I hate Bowles’ defensive schemes.
November 13th, 2025 at 8:40 am
very disappointed!!!!
AW31 hasnt been consistent at all this year…
he got caught playing hero ball…as RB20 said, just do your job…
both sides of the ball executed poorly on sunday….
good thing is we havent lost back to back games yet this season…
GO BUCS!!!!
November 13th, 2025 at 8:40 am
Watch the play closely. Its was a wham block by the right tackle. Who outweighed him by over 100 lbs. Winfield was pinned like a fly.
Defensive scheme was off. Should have been Nelson on contain and Winfield back in his safety position.
November 13th, 2025 at 8:45 am
someone blamed bowles lol…
what a surprise lol
GO BUCS!!!!
November 13th, 2025 at 8:51 am
both AW31 & LVD54 were supposed to stay on the outside shoulder of the FB/DT & TE
#96 got great push…AW31 was supposed to stay outside/up field to force the play back in….if AW31 wouldve did his good, the RB wouldve had to cut back right into LVD or Dennis…
but yeah, blame bowles lol
GO BUCS!!!!
November 13th, 2025 at 9:15 am
@bucu, you trolling right???? the players are literally there to make the play…..
November 13th, 2025 at 9:24 am
4 or 5 huge plays made by the Pats, stop any one of them and this game has a different ending! BUT NO!!!!!!
November 13th, 2025 at 9:30 am
His Pops had the over on rushing yards 😄
November 13th, 2025 at 9:30 am
Another DB OVER PAID by Jason Licht
November 13th, 2025 at 9:38 am
I stated the other day that the big money guys on this team are not producing. Winfield, Wirfs (another game he got abused), Evans out, Godwin out, Reddick not playing. Large part of the salary cap is not performing at all or under performing.
Don’t speak of HOF talk on any of these guys except Evans. All they are right now are overpaid liabilities. I am still pissed and will be the rest of the year for Licht not making a move on a receiver.
November 13th, 2025 at 9:43 am
“4 or 5 huge plays made by the Pats, stop any one of them and this game has a different ending! BUT NO!!!!!!”
This is easy to say without acknowledging our offense needed 7 possessions to score 16 points.
The same offense that only scored 16 points in New Orleans and didn’t reach the endzone until the 3rd quarter
That same exact offense that didn’t score until the 2nd half of the Lions game and only mustered 9 points on 13 offensive possessions.
I can do the same thing, if we didn’t punt on our second and third possessions of the game, who knows maybe those big runs don’t happen if we put the Patriots in a 14-17 points hole to start the game, but noooooooo
see how easy that is? we need both sides of the ball executing at a high enough level to be successful in order to win these games.
November 13th, 2025 at 9:45 am
Where were David, and Dennis? Lost in the wash. Where was Dennis on the first long TD run up the middle? Filling the wrong gap. Our ILB play has been a big problem all season. David has lost a step, and Dennis has no instincts, or toughness.
November 13th, 2025 at 10:04 am
Perhaps Licht should have traded for Jordyn Brooks who is the leading tackler in the NFL. You would think a GM who is nauseatingly touted by the Joes to be ROH material would have noticed that LVD is near retirement and that Dennis has no coverage skills. Brooks could have been a great addition to our defense who would have made an immediate positive impact. Licht has one huge glaring deficiency-always believing HIS guys can get it done-which consequently eliminates HIS ability to make a mid season move to improve the team. This is a very large deficiency in his GM ability.
November 13th, 2025 at 10:09 am
Sloppy defense!! It’s sickening. Someone always messing up. Nothing has changed on defense. It has been inconsistent since Bowles has been here. Flashes of brilliance but also constant mess ups. I know what’s the game and nobody is perfect. I do think defense of playing better than offense right now.
November 13th, 2025 at 10:15 am
Which one of the Century OLD, “4 x 50 yard plus BUSTS” does Bowles not have responsibility for? Who’s idea was that coverage and who ordered who to played the positions on that play alone. Was it a proper match up or a really bad idea?
Is Bowles walking on water as some insist?
Are All of us fools for doubting Bowles excellence as “a few suggest”?
All the while making fun of YOU because YOU refuse to buy “The Emperor Has No Cloths” story…
They are trying So “Desperately” for Us to buy into what exactly? That Bowles doesn’t make mistakes?
THEY dont seem to understand that In fact it is They that have No Cloths on… And the tighter they strap on their coveted Rosey Colored Glasses, the more naked and exposed they openly become. In Fact it’s Pure Nonsense and feebly supported because it’s even Purer Fiction as THEY DON’T BELIEVE IT THEMSELVES!
OF COURSE Bowles hands ARE All Over It! What EXACTLY do you think the man does on this team??? He IS the Tampa Bay Buccaneers “defensive leader” and “defensive strategist” as one of two of his roles. “HIS” (Todd Bowles) strategies good and bad, Are HIS and HIS ALONE… He IS Responsible for the product on the field, GOOD AND BAD!
END OF STORY!
November 13th, 2025 at 10:27 am
Yeah, the Chubb TD was a real bad one, too! There have been a few. Another one this week and we’re looking at a bad trend. Real lucky to be 6-3. Could very easily be 3-6.
November 13th, 2025 at 10:36 am
I learned that in HS. Winfield has to get upfield on the other side of that blocker and put his shoulder into him. Make sure he and the RB see each other so the RB knows he can’t get to the sideline and instead turns upfield into the teeth of the defense.
November 13th, 2025 at 10:38 am
I think Winfield wanted to make the spectacular play behind the line on his own and just forgot to do his job. That’s the problem when people say: “Someone has to make a play”. It leads to this kind of thinking. Do your job is always the correct mindset. That’s a minimal gain, or maybe a loss if Winfield just does his job. An All-Pro would have done his job.
November 13th, 2025 at 10:50 am
It seems like our LBs and Safeties are getting caught up in the trash around the line and unable to flow to the outside or are taking bad angles. Our outside is really vulnerable this year.

“I learned that in HS. Winfield has to get upfield on the other side of that blocker and put his shoulder into him. Make sure he and the RB see each other so the RB knows he can’t get to the sideline and instead turns upfield into the teeth of the defense.”
BINGO!, the run containment ladder.
November 13th, 2025 at 11:16 am
813 – exactly.
AWJ doesnt have to win. All he has to do is stay outside of the left shoulder of the DT/FB/whatever you want to call him and it at least gives David a chance. Maybe he doesn’t get the job done if that happens but at least it gives him another split second to get there.
November 13th, 2025 at 11:18 am
Well, trust in Ronde!!!. He played the game at a high level for years!!!. He also is known to be a master of film, enough said.
I definately agree, Great and even good teams don’t get beat like that when the game is on the line. Presently this team may be good, maybe , great, not even close.
November 13th, 2025 at 11:29 am
Maybe they should try practicing cuz everything everywhere looks like slop. I think good teams are grinding it out all the time not taking all this time off doing walk throughs. Look what a walk through gets you dull slop.
November 13th, 2025 at 11:54 am
“Ronde played the game at a high level”. Yes, he did. The highest level since no one played it better.
November 13th, 2025 at 12:26 pm
A luke warm take…but nonetheless…Tykee Smith may have surpassed Winfield as the best defender in the back end.
November 13th, 2025 at 12:39 pm
Lol a bunch of couch potatoes that are out of shape here calling ronde wrong just so they can blame bowles lol
November 13th, 2025 at 12:43 pm
I have a feeling that this Bucs team is starting to get ‘OLD’ quick. And, at very ‘high-impact’ important positions. Think about it… We’re going to have TWO 30+Year-Old WR’s next season, who are now injury-prone (typical for their age), and BOTH will be making OVER $20-MIL+per. So, not really where you wanna be. Godwin, with that contract, is now untraceable. And, the only way Mike would be next year, would be on an expiring contract at the trade-deadline, IF we’re ‘selling’ at that time, after a horrendous start. We’re in a very touchy spot that could become disastrous. Vea, too.
November 13th, 2025 at 1:03 pm
100% correct. From that angle you can clearly see that if Winfield just held the outside it is a 0-3 yard gain at best.
November 13th, 2025 at 1:45 pm
Back in my cornerback days, man those were the days. My twin brother and I were the corners for our high school team. Started every game together junior and senior year. I don’t know I’ve ever seen contain busted as bad as Winfield blew that one. Was that big fullback an offensive tackle or what? Winfield should never have let that fullback touch him- he had to be running to the sideline. His read was the tailback. I guess he thought he could blow up the play or something.
November 13th, 2025 at 2:03 pm
Anyone mentioning another name other than winfield is slow. He gave up contain point blank period. He cut inside when he should have went wide. He could have even given up ground going wide if he didn’t want to be destroyed by their DT and use the sideline.
November 13th, 2025 at 3:16 pm
OK that angle shows it much better than the TV view angle – yeah, you can see Winfield going inside a bit too much when he should have kept the edge. Did it matter? No. The defense had made three stops in a row in the 4th quarter giving Baker the ball back with a chance to take the lead and he turned it into 0 points.
Also, clearly the defense here was all of nothing – which was the correct call. If the Pats got the 1st down, the last thing you want to do is stop him since it means the game is over, they just take three knees and the clock runs out. You want him to score. All the idiots talking about 28 points given up – are you same dummies happy if the Henderson isn’t obsessed with his stats and goes down, like he should have, and the defense gives up 21 – is everything then good? Of course not, you’d still whine about it.

NNNNNNNHey Joe, have you eliminated me from posting on here or what?? MMMMMMMMM
November 13th, 2025 at 4:22 pm
Turns out “best safety tandem in the NFL” is actually just the most overrated safety tandem in the NFL.
Been trying to tell ya’ll this for a while.
They both incredible splash plays (turnovers, INTs), but routinely take terrible angles and are out of position. Seen it every season with Winfield, and now the same with Tykee Smith.
November 13th, 2025 at 4:39 pm
Had to look at it again it was so bad. I’ve never heard of a safety having contain responsibility. Saying Winfield had contain responsibility made him the cornerback in essence. No right corner was on the field. McCollum was in tight at left corner as Pats had noone split right. We had 6 defensive linemen and looked like 8 in the box. Winfield should have been lined up 2 or 3 yards further to his right. At the snap his inside foot turned inside. Horrible technique and I don’t think he acted like he knew he had contain. Whatever happened that just can’t happen. If Winfield had lined up 2 yards closer to the sideline and stepped forward 2 steps Lavonte would’ve smoked that dude. Maybe knocked it loose.
November 13th, 2025 at 5:37 pm
I keep telling yall we don’t play with leverage. It’s really bad

No corner to the right, means the safety on that side is indeed the last line of defense in that run fit. Winfields guilty of trying to stick his nose in for the TFL and not accounting for “Little Vita” at FB, who demolished him in the gap.
Safety job with no corner to his side would be to force it to the sideline or contain the edge and funnel the ball carrier back into the pursuit. Safties indeed play a role in run fits, and you can say Winfields eyes got bigger than his stomach on that particular rep. Obviously more went wrong with other players, but he was the last anchor on the plays side.
