Todd Bowles Clarifies Mike Evans’ Timetable
October 22nd, 2025
Wednesday news.
UPDATED 1:10 p.m. — Todd Bowles gave a fuzzy timeline for Mike Evans’ return from a broken clavicle on Monday night.
Then he delivered updates twice on Tuesday. Joe remained confused.
“Hopefully we go far enough, we can get [Evans] back toward the end of the year,” Bowles told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday.
Then later Tuesday, Bowles dropped this about Evans on on the Buccaneers Radio Network. “He’ll be out most of the year toward the end of the year. If we can get to the playoffs and make a little run, we’ll see if we can get him back.”
When Bowles says “year,” is he referring to the calendar year or the regular season?
Joe asked Bowles that today and, unfortunately, Bowles replied that he was referring to the end of the regular season. The Bucs close the regular season at home during the first weekend in January against Carolina, date and time to be determined.
So barring an accelerated recovery, Evans is out for the regular season with the team hopeful he will return for the playoffs, assuming the Bucs make the playoffs.

Man what a blow to ME13. I can’t even imagine what he’s going thru losing out on that record and to help his team
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:06 am
I agree. It must be so hard on Mike.
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:07 am
Special season being wasted by injuries
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:08 am
Mike has always been a good guy and player. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
It’ll be interesting to see what he does.
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:10 am
ME13 might be done for the season both reg and post….hope im wrong but it didnt look good…
WR room needs to take advantage of their opportunities…
GO BUCS!!!!
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:11 am
I hate that this is the way his streak ends. It would have been easier to swallow with him just missing because of anything but injury. Speedy recovery Mike. Your place in history is still cemented.
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:11 am
At least Mike tied the record. I am sure he’s happy with that and upset he can’t contribute towards the season.
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:12 am
Doesn’t sound like clarification to me…
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:12 am
It’s called ‘Doing a Vita’.
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:16 am
Yeah Joe, pretty sure he is referring to the calendar year unfortunately! Pretty cler he is talking playoffs if they are lucky.
On a side note nfl network last night on a replay of the play Evans was injured clearly shows the defender grabbing and clinging on top of Evans back while both were in the air. How in the day when pi is called on often for touching someone downfield that was not p i is beyond me. I mean it was so blantant it was sickening. Then when you add to the fact that the defender while clinging on top of Evans’s back rolls on top of him as they hit the ground with full weight and it is easy to see how Evans suffered the injuries he did.The player celebrating after is the cherry on top of bad plays not called. The guy is knocked out after you jump on his back and then you celebrate and yet we have no call. I mean The defination of taunting please!
Yes , definately sad!!
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:18 am
He doesn’t have a clue. If they get to the playoffs and make a little run in them maybe he will play. That’s what it sounds like. But nobody knows how fast he will heal.
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:21 am
Shame this happened.. The refs should have thrown a bunch of flags at the start to establish some control. But decided instead to just let them play.
Just lucky Baker did not get a knee injury on the leg whip that wasn’t called. This officiating team is known for throwing lots of flags but did not do that Monday.
A High School crew would have done a better job…!
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:24 am
ignore him he has no idea
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:24 am
receiver in HS Evans is one reason I followed the bucs even yucs in the lost decade
Evans signed ball and talked with grandson at open practice for 5 mins so much respect
If you know his upbringing and know the guy he is the best
I hate that his happened to him and PI caused it He couldnt land right with that CB had a hold on arm this sucks
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:30 am
We won’t get a bye going into the playoffs so maybe Mike has 4 weeks to get 900 yards in the postseason…
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:47 am
Nobody can know for sure but the estimated time line is 6-8 weeks which takes us to week 15 so based on that it could be before the regular season ends which would be great so he could have a little time to get ready for the postseason.
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:51 am
Its obvious he’s assumed to be out till the post season. So the peanut gallery going wild yesterday because Shady said we will be fine ARE as usual wrong.
Out of thinking we were dealt a mortal blow or we can plow thtough its obvious which is a better thought process for the season.
Through the genius of Licht we already have another player teams have to double. Shephard has been fine . Jalen hopefully will be back soon, the johnsons have not been bad and who knows Greene could be the last piece. I won’t bank on Chris because his status seems to be clouded in mystery which isn’t a good sign .
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:54 am
Counting on him for any contribution on the field this season would be folly ( yet obviously not his fault ). One might point to Vita V making it back in 2020. And while he did and was very effective…especially vs Green Bay…it’s a totally different position. It would be more difficult to get the timing down, test the shoulder, have the lower body in game speed shape etc.
My theory is that the Football Gods didn’t love the somewhat manufactured 1000 yard season on the final play of the season. We all loved it…maybe they didn’t.
October 22nd, 2025 at 9:57 am
Man that sucks. As a New Englander I became a big M.E fan once Brady went down there and I read up on mikes back story growing up and all that he does for the community there now. It’s gotta be tough not being able to break that record (least he tied it) and helping your team that appears to be playoff bound. With that said Ik he was talking retirement hopefully he comes back next year to go out on top adding to his career stats and maybe snag another 1,000 yards.
October 22nd, 2025 at 10:00 am
Mike can still come back and break Rices total of 14-Thousand yard seasons. He’ll need 4 more though, gonna be tough though.
October 22nd, 2025 at 10:01 am
Think Licht considers trading for Jakobi Meyers?
October 22nd, 2025 at 10:08 am
8 weeks max to play
He can practice full speed as he feels comfortable
October 22nd, 2025 at 10:17 am
I am still hoping for Mike to be back for the playoffs. Possibly Todd is being ultra conservative. Listening to 620 radio on the way to work early this morning, they mentioned about Mike possibly being concussed on that other play too, and then the clavicle injury after. A lot going on. Mike has been in excellent shape and is strong. He will be back!
October 22nd, 2025 at 10:19 am
I’m seeing ME13 flying down the sideline of the same field he just got hurt on, scoring one of multiple TDs in route to his second NFC championship. Lions just poked the bear. He’s coming for you in January!
October 22nd, 2025 at 10:40 am
I know it sucks, but the fact it looks like he has a good chance of being healthy in January is more than I could have ever hoped for. I have read collarbone is 6-8 weeks, we are 10 weeks away from end of season and 11 weeks away from our first playoff game (or 12 if we somehow get a bye). I would rather have Mike back healthy for that game than any game between now and then. The record sucks but being tied with Jerry Rice, the GOAT at WR, should be more than enough to satisfy him knowing he has had a GREAT career. I promise you on Feb 9th he will be much happier hoasting a big silver trohpy and adding a ring than he would knowing he put up another 1000 yard season.
October 22nd, 2025 at 10:52 am
Mine has earned the right to make his own plans. If Mike wants to walk away after this injury I’m ok with that. If Mike doesn’t want to go out like this, if he wants to finish his career on his feet, on his own terms, he has earned that. Find a a way to keep him on the team as long as he wants to play. Trust me, He has a much higher standard for his play than any of us do. No matter how this goes, Thank you Mike! Greatest Buccaneer of a generation!
October 22nd, 2025 at 11:07 am
I know we had to play the game and try to win the game, players play,,, but I just got that same feeling I got the Ravens game last year where no good was going to come from it ,, we will play them tougher in the playoffs and hopefully we will be at home ! (Remember their division a bunch of beat up each other games with GB, Minn, Chi)
October 22nd, 2025 at 11:14 am
Too bad we don’t know the extent of the injury? Is it a clean break or just a small fracture? If it is just a midline fracture, maybe he can get back earlier?
BTW, ME13 was being interfered with on that play and the ref didn’t call it. Detroit got away with a lot of interference in the secondary.
October 22nd, 2025 at 11:14 am
Nobody really knows anything other than he has a broken clavical. Shoulder injuries are always difficult. Even after the bone is healed he may have trouble lifting his arm above his head. There are a lot of tendons in the rotator cuff. It would be lucky if he didn’t damage one of these also. Bad way to end a career on a play that clearly was illegal and not called. Seriously doubt that ME will play next year. The pounding these guys take in the NFL isn’t worth the health risks. Detroit game was particularly violent. Guy down on the field and defenders celebrating over his motionless body is disgusting.
October 22nd, 2025 at 11:33 am
I missed this one. I’m glad I did. The more I read and see the play future HOFamer (first one on offense) ME13 suffered multiple injuries on, the angrier I get. Blatant PI, Horse collaring, DB hanging on BIG Mike like a cape. The weight knocks him for a loop, breaks his clavicle, and concusses him. No flags. None. This is a future HOFamer we’re talking about. Then the DB prances around him celebrating. It’s called taunting, ref. Still no flag. If I was a Lions’ fan, I would not want to be around any Bucs’ fans. I would feel shame. Joe, Glazer Boyz going to complain or not? Bucs deserved to lose, but no team deserves this kind of treatment. Football is a violent sport, but it’s not thermonuclear warfare. However, I trust and know my team. Get ready for a dawgfight, NOLA. Go Bucs!! Get even!! 6-2 at the Bye!! Bowles is talking about the regular season. Bucs, win these games for Big Mike.
October 22nd, 2025 at 11:37 am
HATE TO BE THE GUY
They said the same thing about Godwin. “He could be back by the playoffs.” That didn’t age well.
October 22nd, 2025 at 12:00 pm
All good things come to an end.
Strong men also cry, strong men also cry…
October 22nd, 2025 at 12:02 pm
Sounds like Bowels is being realistic. He knows they’re not making the playoffs and that the mirage has been exposed. The Bucs pillow soft matadors can’t run block or protect Baker against ultra physical tactics. The rookie offensive coordinator is a deer in the headlights right now and won’t get any help from the not-a-head-coach.
Todd was so horrified by giving up the big plays, he will revert to soft shell turtle and let Spencer Marino Rattler complete 85% of his passes. Magoo will give up at least one return for a TD and probably suffer a punt or FG block.
Bet the farm on the Aints.
It’s over.
October 22nd, 2025 at 12:16 pm
Should Buc and Detroit meet again in playoffs I would hope the Bucs use this injury as a “revenge” game. NFL is a rough league and players get injured but the dirty players that are doing these illegal hip tackles like Philly did on Irvin and Baltimore did on Godwin need to be punished heavily. These players are key players and there is tons of money tied up in them.
The NFL must do something to prevent these injuries and hitting the players with suspensions and fines is the only way.
The Saints under Payton were always dirty. The play that took Godwin out a few years ago cost the Bucs a possible Super Bowl win.
NFL coaches have said that this year is the worst year in NFL history for injuries. If the NFL can’t do more to prevent these injuries it’s bad for the fans seeing players they love to watch being seriously injured.and their teams becoming no -competitive.
Football is a hard nosed game and the heavy hitting is fine. It’s taking out guys legs like the Godwin injury or kicking a quarterbacks leg like Detroit did to Mayfield. Those kind of players need to get suspended and fined for illegal tackles that cause devastating injuries.
Tykee Smith on the Bucs sacked the hell out of Goff on Sunday and came in like a high speed train but he led with his shoulder and hit Goff below the shoulder. Hard nose football but totally legal. Don’t make it flag football but discipline the dirty players.
October 22nd, 2025 at 12:22 pm
Lions need to pay for their dirty play and so do the refs. Next game Bucs better hit hard and often. Bring the pain.
October 22nd, 2025 at 12:33 pm
Divisional round of the playoffs, but more likely the conference championship game. Imagine the morale boost if Mike returned for the NFCC game against Detroit?
October 22nd, 2025 at 12:52 pm
Any one old enough to remember TO with the Eagles?
October 22nd, 2025 at 1:34 pm
I don’t think Bowles much more than we do, they have an estimated time, that ranges from 6 weeks and up, just depends on if it’s a clean break or not from what I’ve read.
October 22nd, 2025 at 1:34 pm
Evans is likely out until mid January at the earliest, depending on the severity of the fracture.
The refs should be fined for that non-call
October 22nd, 2025 at 1:53 pm
32 year old guy with a broken Shoulder blade.
Do you really need to ask.
I just hope that isnt how Mike’s career with the Bucs comes to an end.
You reach a point, where all thr injures start adding up- and its just not worth it
Hes been thru alot of pain and suffering.
The cumulative effect of all that just breaks you down- to where something is always getting injured.
Hes gotta think about the next 40 years of his life
October 22nd, 2025 at 2:10 pm
Chuckys, I think most of us remember TO in Philly.
The Bucs are just snake bit this year. Very unfortunate. No telling what they could do with a healthy team. Just wasn’t meant to be.
October 22nd, 2025 at 2:17 pm
Feel bad for big number 13 Mike Evans hopes and wishes to him on his recovery much respect for what he means and has meant to Bucs Nation. I was happy the day we drafted him and he has been the pride of the Bucs ever since both on and off the field truly a special person.
October 22nd, 2025 at 2:38 pm
Great career. Got a ring. Made millions. Get out of the ring while you still have your brain.
October 22nd, 2025 at 2:55 pm
Ok everyone. I am a ME13 fan. I will welcome back for that conference championship game. But in the mean time, let’s go two TE’s. Otto and Delvin Culp. Otto the inside TE and Culp the split ot TE. WR room will be next man up. We just need to block better for our QB & RB’s. Let hit them first, run throw those tacklers, make them pay when they tackle a Buc player. Let’s Go Bucs, Let Kick Ass and Call Name. Be ready when Mike come back.
October 22nd, 2025 at 3:13 pm
Record or No Record
Mike Evans IS DA MAN!!!!! PERIOD
October 22nd, 2025 at 3:14 pm
If the Bucs make the playoffs??? If they don’t Make the playoffs then they had a Radio type of epic of failure! I would think that would mean Mayfield had a season ending injury. If there is no injury and they just pull off a Radio collapse, I don’t know if Bowles could make it through that. Bowles has earned some time as the Bucs coach, as he should have, but that type of collapse would be extremely bad!
October 22nd, 2025 at 3:28 pm
@ ElioT
“Strong men also cry, strong men also cry…”
The dude abides.
LOL.
Awesome quote my man.
It’s unfortunate the Bucs are wasting 25% of their salary cap on 3 players who should be retired by now…
Could of had Micah Parsons instead of Evans, Godwin and LVD.
Oh well. At least our GM is a real loyal guy.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
October 22nd, 2025 at 3:52 pm
Thumbs up on those first 3 comments.
We could be watching a top 5 all time Bucs team this season. Instead it’s a MASH unit.
New reports say clean break and surgery… 8 weeks. Possibly best case scenario as far as the break and surgical option.
October 22nd, 2025 at 4:12 pm
I love Mike but it’s time to transition to V2 of the Baker era in Tampa Bay
Maybe we get Chris back but our 3 most dynamic WRs are the rookies and J-Mac.
EE is rightly deserving of his praise but Tez has shown off the charts athleticsm… He’s got hops and a great catch radius for a small guy along with great hands and a quick release. It’s all mental from here with him 🤞🏼
Grizz is going to need to adapt to our new passing game reality. We still have the talent without a doubt to be a very dangerous passing attack without Mike on the field 👍🏼
October 22nd, 2025 at 4:18 pm
somebody posted a video of all his career tds on you tube and seeing him ten years ago he looked less fragile poor dude i feel bad for him and i hope he can come back 100% christmas is two months away maybe he’ll be back by then or wishful thinking tez and ee will not get us deep into the playoffs, i really never thought this was a super bowl year we need a d line like we had in 03 and 2020
